Stunning location, lovely staff, disappointing food: vegetables overcooked, fish uninteresting. Great place for a drink with a view but it's our second time eating there and we won't do it again.

Lovely setting next to the Arun river and nice pub overall. Their food was decent and the service was good. We went during the week off season so was only a little bit busy but I imagine it gets packed in summer and during the weekends.

This pub is a great spot on a sunny afternoon , mid week is best less busy , friendly staff and dog friendly too , . Sadly food really wasn’t up to scratch, lack of presentation, burger was nothing special Cheap Macdonald type fries and no garnish . Expected more for £17.25 Good selection of local ales But the view made up for it .

I am sure that this is a lovely place in summer, sitting out by the banks of the River Arun. In winter, less so. Only one member of staff on view, average food and the disabled parking (badly sighted) almost in the next parish!

Booked a table 4 days in advance to take visiting family for lunch. As weather was nice I knew it was going to be busy because of the location next to the river . When we turned up and checked in for our table we was told there was nothing available even though she could see we had booked. We was told that we could either try and find a table in the bar side and wait or we could wait outside and if one became available they would try and get us in. I’m quite an easy going and understanding person but my 2 biggest put offs are 1. We booked they accepted so therefore expect a table within reason for the time we booked for and 2. Being told to hang about and wait and they would try and get us in. I’m not sure how many other people they said that to or where we are in order of being sat down but in the mean time expected to buy countless drinks waiting for a try to fit in . Normally I like coming to this pub but unfortunately it has left us a bit disappointed and unsure if we would return .

A pub with a great location overlooking the river Arun. A large river-side seating area that is south facing. There is a bar area immediately inside and a separate restaurant area. We recently held an event here and the staff were really helpful and well organised. Parking is good and it's dog friendly.

Came as a group of three adults and two children. Food very expensive for what it was. Husband had the fish and chips - he got about six chips which were hard and pretty inedible. Kids were due to eat free due to a promotion. I checked this with a member of staff who confirmed it was available. However when my husband went to pay the bill he noticed the kids meals had been charged for. Customers shouldn’t have to highlight offers and then double check it’s been done correctly. We would never return here for food due to quality and price but would for a drink in the summer due to location. It’s such a shame as it could be lovely but is being let down by not meeting the simplest of things.

We visited for dinner. We booked for 5.30 and chose to sit in the dining area where its table service. After being seated we waited almost 30 minutes before we had to ask a passing server to take our order. Our food arrived quickly but before our drinks and even then we had to ask if we could have our drinks. I ordered the slow braised beef shin which tasted nice but I had 5 small chunks of beef and 1 and a half slices of carrot so I’m not sure what the almost £20 price tags was for. My partner had the double cheeseburger which he enjoyed but there was barely any cheese on it. A server came round and lit candles on every table except ours. When the server cleared our table she asked if we wanted a dessert menu to which we said yes but then after 10 mins or so we had to get again flag someone down to ask for a menu. A server then came to us and asked if we wanted to order our mains even though she’d walked passed us eating several times. We both had a nice sticky toffee pudding, good portion size, just would’ve been nice to been passed our spoons and not had them dropped on the table in passing. We asked for the bill twice and then eventually when we got it we asked for the service charge to be removed which they did straight away without question. We wanted to explain the issues we’d had but we didn’t feel they wanted to know and felt a bit dismissed which makes us think it possibly happens fairly frequently. We noticed most tables even big ones were having to wave servers down. We then had to ask for the card machine as again they didn’t bring it over. Overall the food is nice although the beef shin was very disappointing due to the lack of main ingredients, but the service was extremely poor and for this reason we won’t return. We would suggest having set servers for set areas and hopefully this would stop customers feeling invisible and unwelcome, or stick to just having to order at the bar / via QR code.

We came as a party of 9, we’d book earlier in the day online and I’d also called to check how the pub deals with allergies and intolerances as one of our party is celiac. The phone call was great and we were well assured that all potential possibilities and risks would be avoided for the member of our party. When we arrived we were greeted and once again assured that he’d be okay and good to eat in your establishment. A member of the team went through the menu with him from start to finish and made him aware that he could kind of pick and choose his way around a roast and essentially build his own, the service was top tier and The Black Rabbit food was amazing!!! Negatives… no lemonade, no soda (on 2nd trip to the bar, although was there on first), no chicken. You order food and drinks at the bar and cutlery is delivered to the table in a wet paper napkin. My dad loved the pork belly, my pie dish was so salty I really did need that lemonade! Mum enjoyed her plant burger. I personally don’t think the food was worth the exaggerated, cashless only prices. I’m not used to paying this price for bar service. Positives… that view over the river and the sun going down makes the black rabbit a drink and go sort of place.

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch at The Black Rabbit. It was really busy when we arrived so am glad we booked a table! All the staff were friendly, welcoming, polite and always had a smile. Drinks were brought to our table quickly and the food not long after. The food was great, we had the roast beef which was perfectly pink, the pork with fabulous crackling and the chicken and bacon pie. All were great portions, all hot and extra gravy when we wanted it came out quickly. We will definitely be going back!

Our favourite coffee stop. We combine an energetic walk along the sea front with a stop here for coffee, hot chocolate, brunch or cakes It's always busy but there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Today we sat outside. We never have to wait long and there is an outside takeaway stall. The location is fab - right on the seafront, with uninterrupted views across the beach.

Good lunch, although the starter came cold and the main was too salty. Was compensated with a hot beverage.

Went today for a couple of coffees, after waiting 5 minutes some young guy who had been folding napkins eventually wandered over looking most disinterested. I asked for 2 coffees and he said ' can't do hot drinks '. No apology or reason why. Needless to say with 2 other places nearby, West Park and The Waverley, where you feel welcome will not be coming back here.

Very nice oldy world pub. Mix of traditional and modern cuisine. Good portions and good quality all cooked to order. Been several times over the years and always been good.
