We just happened to pass this pub on the way back to our holiday accommodation and decided to eat there the following night. We have since been back twice and the meals were equally delicious and tasty both times. The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection and the peppercorns sauce complimented the meal. It came with peas, onion rings, tomatoes on the vine, salad and chips. Absolutely mouth watering and outstanding value. My partner had the curry and was just as impressed with his meal. I had given the steak such a good write up to him that he tried the steak on our second visit. He said he'd never tasted such flavoursome steak. I had fish and it it certainly tickled the taste buds. The portions are ample and brilliant value for money. We managed dessert too. The Bailey's cheesecake is a creamy creation that melts in your mouth and the Eton Mess topped with clotted cream was beyond words. The chef definately knows how to create a masterpiece on a plate. The barmaid was lovely, polite and always smiling. I think her name was Gina. A place that may not look much from the outside but oh what a feast awaits you inside.

My partner & I had a fabulous meal here, in fact we liked it so much that the following night we booked for our family of 13. The food was excellent, well cooked and presented. They had a varied menu to cater for everyone. Kirsty and all the staff were amazing and so friendly, nothing was too much trouble. They are child & dog friendly. We had such a brilliant night that my partner brought in his guitar and we sung some songs. Some of the children & adults played on the pool table. There was a great atmosphere, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.Would thoroughly recommend this place. Roz Parry

Ordered the ‘homemade chicken Goujons’ for my son and they were bird eyes best processed chicken dippers...in no way homemade or fresh. Ordered the main burger and again the burger patties were processed and deep fried, asked for bacon to be added but was not. Toilet facilities were disgraceful considering we are in an infection prevention pandemic, no clear sign if being cleaned recently and stank of wee in the men’s and ladies. Waitress was very friendly but really disappointed with the meal and state of the toilet facilities.

What a difference a few months have made. Always loved the warm welcome here and the fab food, how things have changed under new management. No food available, surly bar staff and not made to feel at all welcome. What a shame!

Called in on the last evening of our holiday, we weren’t disappointed in any way at all. The portions were generous and if there was any issue it would be frozen chips not quite cooked (edible but could’ve been in for a bit longer). The only thing I will say is if you visit on a Thursday evening please don’t be concerned if you are walking in from the car park and see the shooting club in the function room at the front of the building! Definitely would recommend here as the staff and customers were very welcoming and friendly and the open fire helped too!

Near our holiday Lodge in Relubbus so very convenient. Booked table for evening meal. It was ready by a splendid fire with menus there for us. Warm friendly welcome not obsequious which we would not like. Interesting menu with a great variety of excellent fish 'specials' We will certainly go again. Now for pudding fans--- Bailey's cream cake- My wife said the best she had ever had- it was homemade light sand a great portion. My rhubarb crumble similarly was really tasty and a full helping. Recovering ( Well sleeping it all off really back at our Cabin.Great food carefully prepared and well served but a busy but constantly friendly and attentive bar person. Well done Smugglers.

We stopped here after our long journey. The pub is nice and well kept. We sat and the lady came to take our order while for our drinks we had to go to the desk. We waited for long time...but honestly we were satisfied of the food. The ham burger was very tasty and the fish options as well. All fresh! Price in the average. Recommend!

We always like to go for our last holiday meal in a local pub, we haddock just come back from flambards and saw this little gem on our way past, so we booked a table and all went up as a large family. The food was very tasty, nobody was disappointed. My youngest daughter loved her steak and chips which we found unusual to be on a kids menu, but we're glad it was as it's her favourite meal at home :)

Nearest pub to where we are staying.Popped in on Saturday evening, I had the Sea Bass, wife had the fish cakes, she asked if she could have salad instead of its usual accompanied veg, not a problem. Helpful, attentive staff, friendly pub and cheap bar prices. Had a band on in their function room, so busy. Large car park, jazz band on Sunday lunch time.

Lovely barmaid and the inn had a great feel and atmosphere. It was spacious but characterful with a basic but well cooked menu (all the children cleared plates anyway) nice outdoor space and good location. We were at calloose caravan site and found it convenient to pop out with kids for tea and then have a couple on site later. Would go back for sure!

This is a great inn, it was nice and quiet when we went in. There was a group of us with small children and their menu catered for all tastes. We had a lovely meal and enjoyed the ambience of a very old building. The staff were friendly and the service was good.

This was our third visit to the Smuggler's - nice traditional pub, clean and we love the painting of the smugglers with mermaids. However, last night we popped in for a quick drink because we also love the great jukebox there (£2 for 10 songs). We'd put on 10 songs and by the third song, the landlord decided to turn the TV over to the darts and whack the volume up to full blast. This was for his benefit only as there were only a few customers there and they weren't even watching. We couldn't hear our music which we'd paid for and said this to the landlord who responded by saying "well I've paid for the licence" which we inferred to mean "I'll do what the hell I want!" and turned the TV down very slightly. Do you even need the sound on at all to watch darts? Anyway, we won't be going back there anytime soon. If you don't want people to use the jukebox, then don't have one.

With everywhere obvious full up for Sunday lunch we came across this place. Very welcoming and we were surprised to find a great little jazz band playing. The food was good, service was really pleasant. There's a lot of interesting history and stories to this pub which the staff and locals are happy to tell.

Visited as a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids (7 and 10) on a Wednesday evening at about 6.15pm. We hadn't booked and just turned up as were staying nearby on holiday. No problem at all and got a table with no hassle. Great staff and great food and plenty of local beers/ciders, etc to choose from. Overall an excellent evening and we will definitely be back.

What can I say? I've stayed here from July 2016 through to March 2017 and enjoyed almost every night. As a contractor, working away from home, one of the things I look for on a long contract is a comfortable place to stay. This is one of the best I've ever stayed in. The rooms are exactly what you need but that is only the beginning of the 'Smugglers experience'.

On holiday in the area and having read good TripAdvisor reviews, we went here for our evening meal. I had the lamb shank (generous portion and very tasty) while my wife had the chicken melt (also very generous portion and much enjoyed) followed by lemon meringue pie and strawberry cheesecake (both with clotted cream and also quite good-sized portions!).

First impressions were that this pub was closed down. It was 8 in the evening and very little sign they were open. But inside were the friendliest people and the food was great, service wonderful and quick. The food and desserts were all home cooked.

If you're looking for a warm and friendly welcome, great atmosphere and fab food, look no further than the Smugglers inn. Located between Hayle and Leedstown, on the main road, it is easy to find, so how we have missed it on previous visits, I really don't know. The food is excellent - good quality and beautifully cooked - and we were made to feel extremely welcome; so much so that we returned another 3 times! If you like pub quizzes and/or bingo, there is a combination of both on a Sunday evening - the quiz is free with a small charge for the bingo - as well as a key draw for cash AND a meat raffle! It's a great evenings' entertainment for not a lot of expense. The 51 Jazz club use this pub as a venue so beware that there is a separate cover if you wish to 'join the club'. All in all well worth a visit if you're in the area. The only thing that let's this place down is the web site; could include the menu and room tariff as a minimum.
