Good traditional fish and chips, we took ours down to Trebarwith Strand and ate them while watching the stunning sunset.

Wow the best fish and chips weve had for a while. We also had a chicken burger and kids 8 nuggets curry sauce and home made tartar sauce everyone was extremely happy wait time was so quick too. Friendly staff too 5*

I've visited a few chip shops In my time bit this has to be the best one ever been in Poped in there yesterday as was usable to get a Sunday roast and I can tell you I was not disappointed prices was very reasonable. I got batterd sausage and chips my partner got mixed kebab meat and my son had chessey chips the batter on the sausage was perfect light and cripsy donner meat was more than enough and my sons chessey chips well what can I say he had chips with the chesse when he opened the box he said dad looks at this it was packed he was so happy even gave me some chesse I so wish I loved nearer but london is a bit far to go for an amazing chip shop. We will be back.

Awful! I haven't eaten here for over 4 years as had a couple of terrible experiences. But I thought I'd give it another go. Their fryers are obviously too high as the batter is cooked on the outside but not on the inside. The fish was covered in a doughy paste. Disgusting. If you you want proper fish and chips go to peckish. Please don't waste your money here!

Had a video range of food but the fish and chips were a bit average. The batter was a little soft and chips were not the best.

Came here to get a fish and chips takeaway with my family. Seems to be one of the most high tech fish and chip shops I have visited as they had a self service screen. Portions were generous, chips were tasty and not soggy and the fish was nice with good batter. I have given four stars as it was very expensive for a fish and chips meal, but everything else was good.

On holiday locally & have just used smugglers for 4 x fish & chips, mushy peas costing £48.90 & I can honestly say it’s the worst fish we have ever tasted. It tasted watery as if it was frozen fish not fresh as we’d expected. What a complete waste of money, very disappointed 😞

We ordered online on the website for collection. Really easy to use and food was ready at the time specified. We had cod and chips, mushy peas, mushrooms, cheeseburger and curly fries. Maybe slightly pricey but portions were generous and food was lovely. Daughter mentioned that there was too much sauce on her burger. Would recommend.

We had the regular cod and chips, really large portion, crispy batter and not greasy. The curry and gravy lumpy and really thick, more like a paste than a sauce. Staff really polite, friendly. Loved the positive potatos in the shop. Took both cash and card. Would highly recommend a visit.

Not sure why they use supermarket sandwich sliced chicken for their chicken kebab very bizarre and very disappointing. Luke warm flavourless and off putting. Fish was soggy and chips were stale and all dried out. Would have expected food ordered at 5pm, to be at its hottest and freshest, sadly this couldn't be further from our experience ! This made us think we were served unsold stale food from the lunch time opening which had been reheated. £50 for 4 meals of food that didn't taste nice felt too much. We have had nice fish before from here so not sure what had gone wrong on the night

Staying in Tintagel and we have 3 chippy's here, yet I chose to go to Smugglers, the fish is probably the best I have come across, I say this as someone who travels the UK every week, North to South, East to west, and I'm telling you this is probably the best, I also tried the kebabs? Now this wasn't the best I've had, probably 7/10? A lot smaller than I'm use too having, and to be fair the meat wasn't hot on mine or the wife's and we sat in the car to eat it as soon as we came out of the chippy, it was warm at best, still next time I'll just buy the fish 🤗... Price wise it's expensive against the run of the mill chippy's but paying that little extra gets you the better meal, in Cheshire where I come we have the equivalent chippy and it cost me £25 for a wale n chips x3... This chippy cost £35 for 3 meals, that's still not bad considering it's Cornwall, go to a pub and your paying £15+ minimum each... Again this is a cracking chippy, and it's run by really friendly staff

Quality not quite as good lately 😕 Hopefully just a bit of teething with a new chef perhaps but fish has either been overcooked and chewy, or undercooked on a few occasions lately.

First time at this chip shop, Ordered online for collection at 6.30, walked in at 6.30 and the order was ready for me to just collect and go! No messing around, Got back home, everything was still hot and the portions were big! Staff were friendly and the shop was clean and inviting, Food tasted delicious (Love the home made slaw!) Can't fault any of it and will definitely be back again! Thank you!

Absolutely beautiful food. Fish was cooked fresh and chips were lovely and fluffy. Our food was ready when we arrived to collect it and the staff was lovely. Highly recommend the food here, the portion sizes are great you always get more than needed so the men can fill right up! We will definitely be buying from here again 🙂

One of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had

Lovely friendly small chippy located in Delabole on the route to port issac, stopped here on a Sunday night to grab some munch for our littles! Girls enjoyed their chicken nugget meals and munched all the way home to Bude✨️

Possibly the smallest fish I've been served at £7.50 rather disappointed The fish tasted nice and fresh. The batter was crispy . Back in Wales this size fish would be sold as a small fish or oap special at lower cost I requested salt and vinegar however my fish didn't have any . The chips were fresh but lacked flavour due to no salt and vinegar. There was no cheese in stock. I was given curry sauce instead, this was a little watery and a complimentary bottle of soft drink. Polite staff, however, I picked up a disorganised atmosphere. It's a shame that more attention to detail would have made a massive difference

Great Choice, Freindly Staff, Nothings a Problem Well worth the drive from Tintagel 👍🏻 Sad to write this but unfortunately since the refurb the quality of the chips has gone right down ... we can only think they've been cooked seems like left to go cold and then refried or heated again... No flavour dry and hard ...We thought it was perhaps a 1 off so tried again last week but unfortunately same again .. The fish and wrap were lovely thou ...But we love a chip but sadly not there's anymore 😔

This was our first and only visit to the Smugglers. We would NOT be going back. The chips were plentiful, but they were very dry and tasteless, the haddock was very watery and tasteless, the batter was soggy and under cooked. The cooked batter was crispy and tasty

Ordered cod bites and chips and I was surprised how quick I got it. Then I knew why as the cod bites were cold and greasy and the chips weren’t much better! They looked very unappetising!

Got there 30 mins early for my internet order. So asked if i can get it earlier, "Oh we Can't do anyfing until 15 minits before your order time ,cos it comes fruu 15 minits before " but but can't you just get it ready ,and Not do the internet one? I phoned through but they don't accept phone calls!!! Now I know why I use this place as a last resort.

Smugglers cook consistently delicious, high quality, generous meals. Fish is always beautifully moist and perfectly cooked, the batter light, chips a plenty and a lovely selection of vegetarian choices. All served by friendly staff. What's not to like?

Had fish and chips twice here during our two week break in Cornwall. Both times the fish was beautifully cooked with crispy batter, chips were good too and portions were spot on. Staff were friendly, the place was clean and welcoming, can't fault it! Keep up the work :) We will be back!

We have come all the down from preston up north for a holiday in Cornwall, me, my wife and kids decided to stop at this chippy for food and when I say it is the best chippy we have ever been too I mean it! The donner kebab was insane! Never tasted anything like it, the chips were crispy and fluffy, the chicken nuggets are also delicious, we won't be buying another kebab from anywhere until we come back hear next year! Veggie burger is to die for..online you can build your burger yourself and have it how you want it. Order is always correct, food is always fast and hot.. Staff are friendly and helpful. Generous helpings of chips too..lots of salt and vinegar whereas other shops never put enough on. Ordered a sausage for my puppy and she loved it too.

We are staying nearby and called in on our way home after a failed attempt to Port Isaac - VERY narrow roads! Had delicious, hot, tasty fish and chips 😋

Ordered for the family whilst on holiday, service was friendly, unfortunately when we opened the bag back at our accommodation the kids meals were missing the 'toy' that is supposed to be included with a kids meal, a curry sauce was missing and there was no salt and vinegar on anything and I wasn't even asked if I wanted any. Was a bit gutted because it wasn't cheap. Although the chips were good and the fish was perfect. Just a bit disappointing overall!

A business with a phone need to have a message on there telling people that they don't take phone orders but that you can order online and if closing is 1.30 that is the time to close not 1.22 or before . Could be a good business it use to be but staff don't want to know or care just want to get out of there. A real shame . Didn't get to try any food so can't comment on that but staff need training in politeness they have a couldn't care less attitude not good for the business.

Beautiful fish and chips served with a massive helping of helpfulness. We placed a large order for six of us and the staff did everything to make our order as good as possible. The food tasted wonderful and I would recommend the place to anyone (not to mention the cod!)

Ordered a chicken wrap extra cheese no salad got this for £3.95 are they serious. Gave them over 2hrs to acknowledge or correct and nothing

Ordered 3 cods and a large chips online to collect at 5.25pm tonight. Arrived at 5.23 and the order was just being prepared for us. Whizzed home and devoured the best bit of cod we have eaten. Super hot, super white flaky fish, golden crispy batter that was not a bit greasy. Thank you Smugglers see you soon. Sorry no photo it was all gone before I thought of it!

We ordered 2 cods and 1 large chips and used the online ordering system. Our slot was 5.05 to 5.10pm. I let the staff know I had arrived at 5.00pm and waited outside. Bang on 5.05pm my name was called. Excellent service and excellent pieces of cod, beautiful white fish and crisp golden batter that was not a bit greasy and piping hot Perfect dinner, thank you.

Great food from a local don’t have it every week but when we it’s only at the top of the it is always of very good quality the fish is the best around and I’ve had stines a few times as well would recommend to anyone

Service from the lady working Friday 9th October was terrible; rather than greet with a smile and “hello” the greeting was with a huff and an eye roll, almost like she was offended that we came into the place 30 minutes before it was due to close. Again, rather than asking what we would like, we were told that this is last orders and all we have available is what is already cooked. The cook however, was much more accommodating and said he could warm up pies should we wish.. it was a firm no for fish though!! I opted for just some chips whereas my other half opted for pie and chips. Within the hour of getting back & eating them, we both threw up! My other half has a strong stomach so for him to throw up is pretty rare. Old chips/potato’s especially since the lady was very happy to advise that what was left, was what would be sold! Extremely poor service and food - absolutely would not recommend unless you want to be spoken to like crap and/or want to get out of work the next day with a spot of food poisoning! Food Standards Agency has been contacted

We were recommended this restaurant for tasty fish & chips and it did not disappoint!We had cod, chips and scampi. It was all delicious and the scampi was cooked fresh while we waited (about 4 minutes). The lady serving was friendly and explained the 'one in' policy due to covid. The food was definitely worth the short wait.

Service could of been better! I phoned through my order which I was told it would be ready in 15 minutes upon arriving there was people everywhere and when I tried to enter shop was told to wait! Eventually after 20 minutes I stormed into the shop and explained my situation at this point the nice guy frying realised there’s mistake and made me a priority Within 5 minutes my order was ready! The food itself was decent 4/5 They did miss 1 thing off my order also but to be fair the same guy the next day gave me free items as an apology I Will return!

Ordered by telephone for a 6.30pm pick up & was told it would be ready by then. Arrived a couple of minutes before half past six went into the shop, gave them my order number and that it was for 6.30pm. Was told to wait outside as only one customer allowed in shop at once, so I went outside. There was no queuing and no-one knew who was waiting to order or waiting for orders. We saw one man try to go in 3 times to order & 3 times was told to wait outside. The number of people outside grew considerably. At just before 7pm I re-entered the shop again to enquire where my order was and before I could speak was told to wait outside. I asked where my 6.30 order was & gave my order number. I was told oh yes the phone order we haven't done it yet at which I walked out telling them to forget it. We went to Jon's fish & chips in Wadebridge & got excellent service & food with far greater number of customers being dealt quicker, couteously & with a smile.

Smugglers is a good, clean, and easy to park outside little shop. The interior is clean although there is not much room and no facility for sitting down to wait. The queue moves quickly and the atmosphere is friendly. The fish is excellent and the chips are very good. Large portions of chips are served so if you have a small appetite, you may want a small sized order.

I don’t often write reviews, but this is the tastiest fish and chips I’ve ever had!!We live locally and I often have a battered sausage and chips if I need something quick for dinner, which is also lovely. But tonight decided to try the Cod for the first time. The Mrs and I both had Cod and chips, and it was just divine. Cooked perfectly, good portion size, and great flavour.You’d expect coming out of lockdown, that maybe portion sizes and quality might be compromised. But this is not the case here. Keep up the good work guys!
