We visited as a table of 4 and a dog on a Sunday night in September. It was the last weekend that they were serving food in the evenings, so they had run out of a couple of menu items, but this was completely understandable, and they had different dishes on the specials board to compensate. Everything that we had was lovely, and we felt very looked after by the lady serving us. I would definitely return when we're next in Port Isaac, and hopefully be able to sit outside next time too if the weather allows.

Unwelcoming, rude and abrupt greeting from the bar tender! Ordered 2 gin and tonics and a pint of Offshore £35.20 and was shocked at this price. Compared to other local establishments this was the MOST expensive place! This is such a shame this place has gone so downhill as in the past we’ve had fantastic service and food. Will not be visiting again!

Popped in today just for drinks. Tbh maybe we should have checked the menu prior to ordering. We ordered 2 pints, a half pint and a gin and lemonade. All for the astronomical price of £26+ This is THE most expensive place in Port Isaac for drinks, hands down. The response to other reviews that all establishments have increased prices may be factually correct but this place is still more expensive than nice places such as The Mote. A pint of Offshore Pilsner is £7.50. Yes you read that right. I paid this in Norway in the summer. 🤣 I certainly wouldn't recommend due to the ludicrously high price of a pint, which is approximately £1 more than the next most expensive place in town. Even Dick Turpin wore a mask. 🤣

We popped in for cups of tea after walking around Port Issac. Sevice was poor, the waitress rude. We asked for 3 cups of tea and a pot of hot water for one of our group as that is all she drinks. We also asked for some tap water. We were told that we had to purchase water at the bar, either bottle or still. We wanted tap water, not tricky. We explained by law that tap water should be available but she wasn't interested at that point. So OK, onwards and upwards. The 3 cups of tea arrived and the pot of hot water for our friend. When we asked for a cup for the hot water she indigently asked "why" ? I explained politely that she would like to drink her hot water out of a cup not the pot. The waitress that served us told us to check Google as to laws on tap water as we were wrong and she was right. The whole attitude of the place was very poor, as they are in prime position by the harbour, but we will not be returning, which is a shame as two of our group are locals.

Popped into The Slipway for lunch as we were passing by and can whole heartedly say we had a fabulous experience! We were very well accommodated to our table, being given the choice ourselves of where we’d like to eat. The menu served all tastes - allowing us to have the cheeseboard dessert as a main!! Service was quick & friendly. The portion sizes were unanticipatedly large & super filling (takeaway boxes are available). There is no skimping out here: we had the cheese and chutney sandwich (which was filled past the brim, some would say like a door stop sandwich) that was delightful fresh! Secondly the cheese board had a variety of quality cheeses, fresh ciabatta & plenty fruit and chutney. Finally the cheesy chips like no other - there was no skimping out here - the chips were fresh and fluffy with a lovely crisp finish that was well complimented by the layer of flavourful cheese melted throughout all the chips! Overall had a delightful experience and would without a doubt return here! (cannot comment on rooms or accommodation as we did not stay here)

This spot has a prime location. Unfortunately our experience was not the best. The two ladies waiting the tables were great, despite forgetting half of our order. However, the chap behind the bar needs to improve his customer service. He was quite rude when taking the order and even declined one glass of tap water. His response being that if he gave everyone tap water, the tables would be filled with non paying customers. How ridiculous, spending over £40 on coffee and cake, the fruit in the muffins still frozen, obviously wasn't enough for him. Never mind, there are plenty of other places to get food if required.

A very different experience to that of a few years ago when it was a much more down to earth pub throwing out great quality meals. We ate here a few days ago. Eye watering, over priced drinks (£7.50 for a pint), glass of Sauvignon £12. Food very average. The attached picture is what they call crab nachos £24!!!!!! Literally approx 10 cold nachos (with one chip thrown in somehow) and a sprinkling of crab meat. The bowl size was that of a cereal bowl. Speechless and taking huge advantage of their position in Port Issac.

Stopped in here for a drink with family and friends whilst on holiday. The drinks are extremely overpriced. £3 for a half pint of draught coke (not bottled) £7.10 for a pint of lager and £3.80 for a J2O….the prices are far too high for a run of the mill establishment, there’s nothing special about this place whatsoever!! However, the most shocking part of the visit was being charged £19.50 for 3 packets of crisps and 3 packets of nuts….my daughter came back from the bar and told us she’d been charged that, we didn’t believe her and thought she’d made a mistake, only for the barman (Mr happy) to confirm the price was Infact correct when my husband queried it!! This means they’re charging £3 for a 40g packet of crisps and £3.50 for a packet of peanuts! They are completely taking advantage of the fact they are based right on the harbour and ripping people off, it’s disgusting to charge the prices they are charging. Reading other reviews about this place confirms to me many other visitors have been unhappy. Please AVOID this place, don’t give them your hard earned money, spend it elsewhere in Port Isaac where the prices are more reasonable and the staff actually make an effort to be friendly!

We thought we would have a wander into Port Issac, we were getting hungry and we saw The Slipway on the corner with outdoor seating, where people were already sat and stood around. There were no times on the door, and Google said they were open from 10am, so thought it would be an ideal place to stop to get some food, as it looked assessible for the disabled people within our party. Within minutes, a miserable old man came charging into the courtyard and screamed at everyone in an aggressive manner. "Everyone needs to leave now" and "Get out of here" - an awful way to speak to anyone, let alone the people keeping your business running. Absolutely awful man. Maybe he should update the times on Google or display clear opening times. In hindsight, I am glad it wasn't open. We would much rather give our hard earned money to businesses that treat people with respect. We ended up getting food from the bakery, where the woman was so cheery and friendly. Delicious too. Would give this establishment a miss though, your money would be better spent else where. Looking at previous reviews, it seems this is a regular occurance.

Sadly this restaurant is best avoided, unless you just want fish and chips, which looked ok. Regrettably, I ordered the pan-fried hake, which tasted of anything but fish, I presume having been over-cooked in the burger and everything else pan. It was not edible. We visited beautiful Port Isaac recently and stopped at The Slipway for lunch, deciding to sit outside and take in the harbour views. The staff didn't acknowledge us whilst waiting for them to raise the ropes - they were setting up tables, but we felt they were really quite rude. When we looked at the menu, we were surprised to see how expensive the food was, we were going to have a crab sandwich until we saw the price of £25! We summised the food must be good, so we opted for a cheaper option of a cheese and chutney sandwich with a cocktail. The sandwich arrived, the bread was nice and there was sufficient cheese, but barely any apple chutney and the side salad consisted of slimy lettuce and spring onions that were certainly not freshly cut, they were brown on both cut ends. I'm annoyed with myself now, for paying £58 for two basic sandwiches with slimy side salad (£13.50 each), along with two gin cocktails (£14 each) and a small glass of coke (£3!). It was busy (!) and not having seen the family member I was having lunch with for a number of years, I didn't want to waste our time complaining. I only wish I'd read reviews prior to choosing to eat here. Please AVOID THE SLIPWAY at Port Isaac, don't waste nearly £60 on two basic sandwiches and two drinks (plus a small coke!!), try somewhere else!

Absolutely disgusted, I have come here with my family whist were on holiday celebrating a birthday (27/08/23) We came here for coffee/tea/hot chocolate, price is expensive but also expected with where its based so that's nothing to do with it. The facet is that we came in ordered 5 hot chocolates 1 tea and 1 cappuccino... its took 29 minutes too come out. The table that came in after us with about 20 of them was a big group multiple families, they'd ordered drinks and got them before us and even worse they had ordered meals for each of them and they came out before 6 hot drinks which is absolutely ridiculous. They came out and were warm they weren't hot at all. Couldn't fault the taste as it was nice but the fact that they were cold didn't help the taste, if your ordering a hot chocolate you want it to at least be hot? Right? .none of the 4 hot chocolates were hot. Which made it worse as we had waited 29 mins for cold hot chocolate. The next part is which fully disgusted me and my mother who went to pay. She asked "how was everything" and we replied with not great the drinks were cold and took 30 odd minutes for them too come out. She replied with oh shame and said its not magic theres 1 girl on coffee machine. Which was awfully rude. We know its not magic but instead of pacing about maybe give her a hand. I came in too see the tray of hot chocolates on the side and had asked if I could help carry the tray out as I do it for a living too so I do understand it's hard work. I'm really just upset about how nasty the lady was about it, she said she didn't care and kept shoving the card machine in our face and said she's not gonna do anything. Didn't even bother to apologise for the wait. Have been to port issac many times as its a lovely place and just wanted to sit and have drinks in a nice resturaunt but have been fully let down and left feeling angry towards the women who had nothing to say but she didn't care.

There was no apology forthcoming and we were basically ignored for the remainder of the time we spent on the premises. Not only would I rate this eatery as zero but will be reporting it to environmental health ..... purely on the basis that constructive and polite criticism was treated with such blatant disregard.

Our family is really fussy so a 5/5 rating is rare from us, but the Slipway Cafe really deserved it. We went last week for a meal at about 5pm (my husband and I and 2 young children). My husband had fish and chips, which was quite simply the best fish and chips he has ever had in his life, just perfect. Most battered fish is disappointing, soggy or overcooked, but this was just beautiful - even the fussy 18 month old ate it and that's saying something!! I had Thai Green Vegan curry, which was also delicious. The staff were kind to our noisy, disruptive children and we had a lovely meal. Only little thing was that the desserts were £9 and we thought this was a bit much, most similarly priced restaurants charge £7, which we would have paid, but not £9 so icecreams from a gift shop it was.

We had such an amazing meal at The Slipway that we actually rebooked for 2 nights later! The food was fresh and delicious and even my fussy 9 year old was happy. The staff were very friendly. The only reason I have given 4 stars and not 5 is that the restaurant currently stops serving food from 6pm due to a staff shortage, but I'm sure this will be rectified in due course, and is probably due to covid! We would definitely visit again.

We were a large family group with a young baby and dogs and the restaurant was very accommodating. The food is delicious with huge portions and was served all together and in good time. Location is beautiful and it’s worth stopping on the slipway after to watch the sunset. We returned for a second meal and it was just as good.

We came as a family. The prices were above average for what you would like my expect but the outdoor area was in a great position and the food very good. The staff were also very friendly and attentive so 10/10 on that front.

If you like sitting looking at 3 transit vans and smelling fish then it’s great. If you like waiting 30 minutes for a coffee, lemonade and 2 scones then it’s great. If you like being overcharged (my fault for not realising) then it’s great.I’m sure this place does good food but sadly was a total shambles with the staff not seemingly having a clue and the excuse was that the coffee section was backed up. I went inside and they were all chatting. 2 tables got up and left whilst we sat there due to poor service.Lovely spot and a wonderful village. Chapel cafe looks like the best bet.

Very well located in Port Isaac. My partner and I both opted for fish and chips. The fish was beautifully cooked and the batter thin and crisp. The home made mushy peas blew my mind, they were amazing!!! The waiting staff were so very friendly and were well drilled on the menu. Well done guys

Firstly as a party of 9 we always understand it’s difficult to accommodate without booking. The young gentleman greeting us was fantastic very polite and smiley. Instantly accommodated us for a table. All staff was fantastic very helpful & friendly. Food came out together and tasted great. Over all 10/10 service in all areas.

Lovely in the evening for drinks by the Port Isaac harbour, and in the mornings for a coffee and cake. I tried the vegan lemon and blueberry cake and it was fantastic!

We had a family meal here. The mussels were not that tasty. The laksa lacked a mix of veg but was quite tasty. The halloumi burger was good but soggy because of the sauces. It’s very expensive for the standard of food. I wouldn’t go again. However the staff were very good.

Simply awful food & disrespectful service staff. Really poor customer interest as quite clearly taking your money is their only interest.

I chose the vegan laksa. Literally the BEST ever vege dish I have eaten out. Spicy, fresh, unusual. My hubby ate a fish dish which he loved too. Absolutely recommend this place, just gotta try n recreate this at home.

We had to wait for around 20 minutes for a table even though there were several empty tables outside and more inside. The food and drinks were ridiculously over-priced e.g. £17 for a burger and chips and £9 for a glass of wine, but with so few places to eat by the harbour they have a captive audience. The food itself was very good in fairness to them though not worth the money. The staff were friendly but service was slow.

Stopped here as was hungry and didn’t seem overly busy., as I had about one and half hours left on parking ticket. The location is excellent with views of the harbour food was ok, service was shocking took about 25 minutes before any one took our order and restaurant was quiet. Just got back in time before ticket expired,

This place will likely always have customers due to its location so maybe that's why the food and service doesn't live up to the location.I realise these are strange times we are living in, but the table reservation service seemed all over the place and we saw two tables told to hurry up and finish their drinks as their tables were reserved. We weren't told we had any time limit, ate some food (maybe 35 mins or so), then ordered drinks. As the drinks were put on the table we were told we'd have to finish them in 5 minutes as they needed the table for other guests. Now I don't mind a challenge but necking a pint in 5 mins after eating food seemed a bit over the top. These aren't student union prices either!I don't mind if on entering we are given a choice and told that the table is only available for 45 mins or so , but to take the food and drinks order and then give a deadline smacks of poor service, even if it was done with good intentions.Great location but a poor experience sadly.

Lindsey was excellent front of house. Food was amazing once we ordered we did not wait long for it. We booked out table that day and were lucky to get a place as they were clearly fully booked for the day.

I liked this restaurant. The location for one is superb as it is right opposite the post Issac beach and slipway. The place is buzzing with atmosphere and the food is very good. We ate at 8pm inside on the first floor, a lovely table for two. I had a huge bowl of mussels and my wife had a halloumi salad. Both dishes were excellent. Wine £22 so not bad. The whole bill with tip £85. Not cheap but then nothing is in Post Issac

Smacked of someone’s first attempt at running a restaurant. Need to sort out some basics in the kitchen-gritty mussels, no seasoning in the laksa. Nice enough staff but Front of house chaotic and service haphazard. On the plus side burger was good.

We used to love popping in here when we were in Truro, you would be lucky to get a seat but now it’s take your pick. In a nutshell the place has lost its soul.

20 people from sainsbury went last Sunday . Not one meal was any good . The nights before chicken . And chips that would fly off your plate .they were that over done , used to be good a few years ago .

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.

For a spot of lunch, my wife and two children decided to eat here. Never again. We settled on the beef style kebabs (on a skewer). With rice. The beef was tough, tastless, rough and badly cooked. I was a butcher, I should know! Rice was microwaved but still undercooked! The salad that came with it was soggy, rotten and floppy. The best part of the meal was the kids fish goujons. We spent 70 quid (including drinks) on some of the worst food I've eaten.
