Friendly atmosphere, many customers eating appeared to be local - always a good sign! I had the small portion Sunday lunch which was very tasty but only one small slice of beef. Husband said his cottage pie was very good, as was the large slice of lemon meringue pie we shared as pud. They were very busy but service was good. Photos added of menus (July 2024) and specials board.

Had the most delicious roast beef lunch and caramel apple pie for desert today. All home cooked by the excellent chef. He obviously has a secret recipe for his special gravy. Everything was perfectly cooked. My partner had roast pork and enjoyed his meal just as much. All the staff were friendly, aconmodating and very efficient. Will definitely go back again and its only 13 miles from home!

Each time the service was excellent and friendly and the food was well cooked and portions were more than adequate.. They also have some excellent beers on tap. If you are in the area I would recommend eating there. But not on Tuesdays because they're closed. I

Great location, large car park, looked pleasant from the outside. Basic menu which was pretty much the same when we visited ten years ago, specials board not really much all that special about it ( chicken gougons on specials board!!) We had a lasagne, with garlic bread and salad (lettuce cucumber, tomato) ham egg and chips, pale slab of ham flopped on the plate with a Greasy egg l!!! Could do with a good dust and clean, lady behind the bar quite clearly didn’t want to be there, although young waitress who served us was very pleasant, checked on us a few times to make sure we were ok chatted to her briefly, she lived in the village and gave us some recommendations for other places to eat whilst on our holiday. Really disappointed, wasn’t expecting a 5* meal as not paying 5* prices but what we had could have been done with a little care.

Stopped here on Monday for a sandwich and drink, found the staff very friendly and food was great value. Decided to return for Sunday Lunch after a good experience earlier in the week, we both had roast beef with all the trimmings and followed up with apple crumble and custard. Again service was great and the food was excellent. Definitely returning again, thank you Slade House

Four of us had a excellent value for money supper. Good portion sizes, hot and well presented. We had horseshoe gammon steak, fish pie, scampi and vegetable curry. We were offered a choice rice, chips or salad to accompany our main courses. We couldn’t resist puddings! Profiteroles, syrup sponge & caramel apple pie with the usual custard, cream or ice cream. Drinks were all good - draft Guinness, Tribute ale and Thatchers cider. We felt welcomed and enjoyed a chat with the owner. Highly recommended - can’t wait to try the Sunday Lunch!

It wasn’t cordon bleu cuisine but it was just really nice simple food from a straightforward menu. Lasagne was warming and tasty and my other half’s minted lamb steaks were delicious apparently. Puds are traditional (apple pie and jam sponge pudding) but really well done. The welcome and the people were warm and friendly and it was well worth a call in if you’re on the road between Bodmin and Padstow.

Phoned round loads of places on this night trying to get in somewhere and this was the only place that had a table. We didn't have high expections based on the pics posted on here but we just wanted something to eat. Well we had a really warm welcome when we arrived by the landlady and was made to feel welcome. The menu is limited and I'm not really up for gammon or the mixed grill carry on. I opted for the fish pie and to be truthful it was spot on, really tasty, plenty of sea food and under £10. My wife and lasagne and again she enjoyed it and under £10. My daughter had the rack of ribs and could finish them, they were the length of the plate. The only thing that could improve on these dish is how it's presented. It would be far better in one of those small oval dishes rather than lose on the plate. 1 starter, 3 mains and 2 round of drink £53.

We stumbled upon the the pub when we were trying to find somewhere to eat, without success. As tourists we hadn't got much of an idea where we were. When we entered, I will be honest, the place seemed very dated, and not that inviting. However, first impressions don't always tell the whole story. A very very simple menu offering, was actualy really good. I had a huge gammon and chips meal which was really tasty and great value. My wife also enjoyed her ham, eggs and chips. It was good. It clearly needs a bit of TLC, but the lady behind the bar was great and ever so friedly. We would definitely visit again. Cornwall is lagely over-priced, so it was good to go somewhere that kept it fair and simple.

This is a very nice pub situated on the main road from Wadebridge to Bodmin , just outside Wadebridge at Sladesbridge. A typical old-fashioned pub with real fires and cosy interior where you can stop for lunch or dinner or just a drink , in the summer a table outside is always lovely. There is a large car park right beside it where you literally pull in straight off the main road. About five minutes drive from Weybridge town centre. Worth a visit.

The staff were friendly and the service was very efficient. My only problem was my meal, I had ribs in barbecue sauce off the specials board. Not only were the chips soggy but the ribs had hardly any meat on them (I have had ribs elsewhere so I know they can be quite meaty) and far from being cooked in the barbecue sauce it seemed as though the sauce was put on afterwards as an afterthought. I left half of my meal as it was not at all good. I think others with me enjoyed their meals but I can only speak from my own experience. It is a shame as the pub and the people were lovely but I won't be hurrying back here

The young waitress did her best but clearly no trainingSo - pudding - can't offer cheese board - no biscuits - and others clearly not home made and all served cold with frozen in the middle - horribleAnd finally - a lime and soda please 'you had the last of the lime'What a shame - shall not be back

Wanted to take m.I.l for Mothers Day lunch and decided this was a good choice. Wrong, the pub was cold and it took a while to get served. I think this was because I wasn't local. We decided on two Broccoli bakes and one Roast Lamb for me. After waiting for 45 minutes I had to ask where our food was, the chap went to ask and I was told it would be a few minutes. When the food arrived the two bakes were very good, however, my Roast Lamb was dodgy to say the least. I thought it a bad omen when the meat and gravy appeared with a skin on them! The veg, carrots hard, peas OK, cabbage done to death and the Swede mash tasteless. On the bright side, the roasters weren't to bad. Forgot to mention the Lamb, of the two slices I was served, one was lovely, it fell apart. The other was tough. Normally I would complain at the time but I didn't want to ruin my mother in law's lunch.

We went here after seeing some recommendations for this place in the visitors book at our holiday lodge. The pub is a typical old English pub, I can imagine it's lovely in the winter with a big fire going. There was a group of us and when we arrived the pub was quiet which we hadn't expected after seeing all the recommendations, although it was a Monday night. I ordered fish pie which was really tasty with a nice cheesy topped mash. All the food looked freshly cooked and we didn't have to wait too long for it. Everyone seemed to enjoy what they had ordered. My only complaint was the ladies' toilets which looked like they needed refurbishing and the cobwebs removing.

We booked for lunch with 4 friends, one of whom is in a wheelchair. The first difficulty was access from the carpark - either squeezing alongside the outside tables on a narrow strip of grass (sloped as well) or along the main road (no pavement). Steps down to the door, a single opening door into the bar - not very disabled friendly. A rather off hand greeting from the barman and no information about how we were to order - table service or order at the bar. We assumed it was table service but after waiting half an hour for our order to be taken we started for the bar to order when someone came over and offered to take it 'as it might be easier'! We still don't know what the normal ordering drill is.The food arrived promptly on very hot plates (a huge plus), but this was probably because all the meals had been microwave reheated (the skin on the gravy is a giveaway!). Very acceptable but nothing out of the ordinary. The service given by the waitresses was very friendly.A problem with the disabled loo was very well handled by the landlady but did made the outing very difficult for our friend. All in all an average meal in an average pub.

I will start by saying the restaurant did reduce our bill and throw in a few free extras but we were very surprised by the quality and portioning of the food. At the time the cafe was very quiet but the staff seemed a little bit chaotic. Orders not being put through properly, items missed off and not knowing what beer they had available. A couple of us ordered the chicken burger (£13) and my son had the kids version (£8.50) but his came with chips. I was pretty shocked when we both received exactly the same sized portion. A small bun, 1/2 a small chicken fillet and one piece of lettuce, not exactly worth £13. The staff did even comment that they there was an issue but still felt it was fine to serve and just expect people to pay. The pizzas were but ok but again surprised when we we charged £3 for 2-3 sliced olives as an extra. We've eaten at many other places up and down the coast and based on our experience we would not return.
