We’ve had absolutely the best Fish and Chips restaurant experience here. We were invited here by someone who has been coming to this establishment for 30 years, and Rock Salmon was recommended and ordered by everyone in our party. It was the most delicious fried fish, a huge portion, and apart from one thick bone that had to be removed from the middle, there were no other bones, amazing! No wonder the Rock Salmon was sold out after one hour from opening. The restaurant section is very nicely decorated and clean, white table cloths on tables, small bar area is at the back. I would’ve given five stars for this review, but I had to take one star off for a 30 minute wait for our drinks while the gentleman/ owner ? was having a lively conversation with a couple of friends at the bar. We were the only people that arrived at the restaurant at opening time and he led us to the table, then proceeded to ignore us. After finally taking our order, the pace picked up, we did not have to wait too long for our meal to arrive and every single item was fresh and absolutely delicious. There is a takeout section next to this restaurant, and it was incredibly busy with a line of people out on the sidewalk waiting to get their hands on the delicious fish. I am looking forward to visiting again, because I’ve never seen the Rock Salmon anywhere else on the menu, but I hope the service will improve.

Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. The ‘cod’ was so thin in the batter that it had dried out completely. Barely a centimetre deep Chips were awful too. I put ‘cod’ in inverted commas as, like another reviewer suggested, it was like no other cod I have ever seen or tasted, so I have bagged it up and will get Trading Standards to assess it, The fish and chip game isn’t difficult. Just go to a few of the top ranked guys and copy them. Or, produce complete and utter rubbish and hope the gullible public come back. Well, you’ve taken the one and only money you’ll ever take from me, so that’s a short term ploy in my view. To summarise: Embarrassingly bad. Guys, you’re in the wrong game.

Great fish and chips!Tasty and fresh. Ordered a large amount for the whole family and everything was freshly cooked and very filling. The staff are always welcoming, friendly & efficient. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Made request to Trading Standards to investigate wether COD is fake, very greecy chips are green not good

It’s not what it was. Fish sometimes tastes a bit like it’s not as fresh as it might be. It’s ok but nothing special now.

Decided to try this place after recently moving to the area as it was just up the road. Went in with my daughter and ordered 3 cod and chips and a chicken pie and chips. Had to wait for cod to be cooked so expected it to be crisp and tasty when we got it home. It was not. The batter was just swimming in grease and was soggy. The fish was full of bones - something I have rarely seen in any fish and chip shop in about 30 years! The chips were greasy, bland and barely cooked. We basically threw pretty much the whole lot away as none of us wanted to eat it. No wonder the shop was almost empty on a Friday night if that's what they serve! I would never use this place again and will be back to my regular fish and chip shop in future.

Visit every week on way home from football to get kids dinner, phoned in advance to ask for two meals to be cooked for collection. When I arrived about 5 mins later the male behind counter scolded me saying they only take big orders over the phone, I explained that as I usually had to wait ten minutes for the kids fish bites to be cooked I thought it would save time if I ordered them when I was en route. He told me he wasn’t interested in Small orders, I said to him, it feels like you are saying you’re not interested in my order at all and he shouted at me that he was not, I regularly use this place for bigger family meals as well as once a week for the kids. There were no other customers in the shop and to.be honest I’m not surprised. The food was like cardboard when we got it home. Will never be setting foot in there again, rudest guy EVER.

Whenever we need fish or chips we go here. I would say excellent service and good food. Very generous portions. Staff are nice and you can order on the phone. Only thing is parking which is a 5 minute walk. I will always go to this shop for my fish and chips.

We tried this place simply because the other shop across the road was closed for an extended holiday. The first time we tried the fish batter was somewhat greasy and the chips were appalling. They were positively chewy! I suspect that had been cooked long before and kept warm. Hoping that our original experience was a one off, we tried again. This time it was worse! The fish batter was positively swimming in grease leaving a greasy coating in the mouth and on the lips. The chips were as before. At least they were consistently bad. On both occasions the food was so bad that we left at least 30% of it.

Best cheese burgers around. Been many times and will go again. Good service and friendly response. Why not try one yourself.

I visited the knaphill shop with my husband and ordered a chicken and mushroom pie with chips. We returned half an hour later to collect. On arriving home I had actually been given a beef an onion pie. Yuk! When phoning the shop I was constantly referred to as ‘love’ and was told it was my mistake. Not happy at all, totally patronised and left with no edible food!

I'm a local resident and I go to skip jacks as I find the prices reasonable. I've had a few problems one being when they changed their prices on the menu board but the leaflets had a lower price on but they would not honour the leaflet price which was on their counter. This has since changed to the leaflet price. The most recent incident was today when I ordered kids fish bites meals. Regular chips, two burgers, and large cod, when I got I home I realise they had put all the chips in to one. I had not notice this so I ask for salt and vinegar which was only meant to be on the regular chips. They had put the cod bites together instead of two separate meals and they even forgot the the drinks that go with the kids meal. They have not followed a simple instruction and it wasn't even bust as I was the only customer otherwise I may have been a bit more forgiving. This will be the last time I go there for a long time.

Excellent we both had cod and chips with curry sauce we had a huge portion of chips crispy and fresh and the cod was delicious white and thin batter. We will be going back to try burgers scampi onions rings and the do the deep fried mars bar which I have never tried. Friendly service nice decor and it looked very clean. Around £12 and you could share the chips if you don't eat large portions.

Ordered fish and chips for my lunch as the lads from work recommended this place. Very disappointed. The fish is so greasy that you cant actually taste the fish. The chips aren't great either. Wont be going back.

Visited skip jacks tonight first time since new owners and fish and chips not up to normal excellent standard.Chips very dry and fish overcooked.Will not be going again as after pointing this out to the owner all we got was a shrug of the shoulders.

The fish and chips are really good here and it is a busy place on the best of days so you know that the fish is fresh. Good selection of other things (onion rings, scampi, sausages) other than the fish.

Having recently moved to the area, we now only go to Skip Jacks for our regular take away Friday night Fish & Chips. All staff are pleasant, the shop is very clean and the quality of fish and chips is hard to beat. The food is freshly cooked and good sized portions. it is unusual to find a shop who sells good quality both fish and chips however, Skip Jack has found a way. We have sat and ate in the shop which has been acceptable but majority of time, we take the food home to enjoy. Thoroughly recommend.

Since my first review, there have been ownership changes and the standard is not quite so good. It's ok not exceptional as before. Chips not very good, very dry. Still clean and tidy. Very difficult for parking.

Great food all done fresh and the size of position big great place to get your food from they only take cash if any one needs to know

Always get our fish and chips from here but tonight was not there usual takeaway the fish was nice but the chips were soggy and not freshly cooked more like steamed very disappointed I know it was 9pm on a Saturday night but they shouldn't serve reheated chips

We decided to have some fish and chips for tea last Friday so went to skipjacks to give it a go. What a fab little find it was too!! The fish was just beautiful and fresh, and the chips were lovely and crispy, not soggy like a lot of chip shops. The curry sauce was absolutely lovely with s really nice flavour and not lumpy. Will be using this place all the time now!! Love the fact that it is all cooked to order so you wait a little bit longer but it's worth it completely!!!

This is our local chippy and comes highly recommended. All food cooked fresh to order so worth calling ahead for a takeaway but worth the wait. Fresh batter that is crisp and not dense. Lovely chips. They also do a really nice chicken burger. They only take cash though.... Great place. Lovely staff.

I have lived in Knaphill the biggest part of my life and I can say above all of the fish and chip shops that have been in the village this is the best. The food tastes great the portions are good for the price you pay and the staff are friendly.

When I first heard of skipjacks I heard everyone Say such good things about it, being used to my sea fare burgers which are always microwaved, I did have high hopes. My hopes and expectations were met and matched! The food is always to die for and such value for money as I can never eat a full portion!!!

Skipjacks is literally the best chip shop in knaphill because of there fresh food. There staff are very kind and generous. I would say its better than kfc and healthier lol. Its very good because you can take your friends and family there for a dinner or even launch. Even better is that they dont just sell fish they even sell fresh chicken burgers and beef burgers. I would recommend everyone to go and atleast have a try. I rate it 5 stars thanks daniel.

We went to Skipjacks after a friend recommended that we went there, and we were not disappointed! The staff were friendly, and offered us sample food for us to try. There was a little wait, but if the food is fresh then I don't mind. The portions were very big, and will likely see us again in the future.

For my opinion this fish and chip shop is the best in woking everything is freshly cocked and well served. I advise everyone going there.

This fish and chip shop must be the busiest in the area. The food is made to order so expect to wait, especially because they get so busy. But it is definitely worth the wait! I no longer bother with any of the other nearby chip shops as this one is just so much better. Portions are generous and the food is excellent.

I have been to skipjacks since it opened it has always been lovely everyweek i have the same haddock and chips its a very clean shop and the staff are very welcoming experienced. I recommend everyone to go to skipjacks.

I was told about this place a while ago and go there once or twice a month.it can be a bit of a hit and miss chip shop I've had some lovely meals here and then some times it can be really greasy .a real pain is that they now don't take or accept card payments

Since it opened Skipjacks has consistently provided top quality fish and chips. The homemade Tartar Sauce is really good as well. Thoroughly recommended.

With reasonable prices, I decided to try Skipjack's out. The quality of the food and the portions were impressive, needless to say we will be returning. Would definitely recommend to anybody in the area.

All the other reviews of this place are so truthful - if not understated. The portions are sometimes too generous, esp if you have to wait more than 5 minutes as the boss is likely to throw in a small piece of fish and/or extra chips to compensate yet this is totally unnecessary as there are usually too many chips. The quality of fish and chips and mushy peas, sausages, etc. help explain why there is a queue any time Skipjacks is open. Long may it remain open!!

Friendly staff! Very clean! And the best fish! good portion sizes and far superior to others in the area. Have bought fish and chips here many times and always use them now, hope the honeymoon is never over!

I posted a review a month or so ago regarding a sharp decline in quality at skip jacks - this was based on my own visits and similar experience of local friends. I have had the review removed as it's now back to its very best again - not sure if it was holidays but the staff changed and the quality dived - very happy to say most of the original team are backThe best In surrey once again - please don't let it go again

Had several take aways from Skip Jacks since they opened and every time the welcome has been friendly, the staff are polite and the food excellent.

re; previous review titled 'honeymoon is over' - I reckon this has been written by a rival who is clearly threatened by Skipjack. Family of 3 kids & 2 adults - we have visited Skipjacks no less than 8 times now and to date, I can honestly say each meal has been of a very good standard. I love the fact that the fish is cooked from fresh (yes if it's busy, you may have to wait more than 15 mins) but it really is worth it. The large portion of chips we order is very generous and is enough to feed my 3 children. The price is reasonable considering the quality & quantity. place is always clean & tidy when we visit and a few tables & chairs to eat in.

We moved to Knaphill in 2010 from Essex, where it was easy to find great chippies, especially if they belonged to the Fish'n'Chicken chain. Surrey, though, was a wasteland. We rarely had fish and chips as a treat. All that changed in May last year when Skip Jacks opened here. The fish is freshly cooked to order, as other reviewers point out. So yes, you wait for your order, but it's worth it. Other outlets within a couple of miles just give you the fattiest, stodgiest batter, but not Skip Jacks. Other nearby chippies give you fresh, but their portion sizes can be examined under a microscope. But again, not Skip Jacks. The normal size cod will hang over the side of a dinner plate. The chips - well, let's just say that if three of you are eating, I'd only order two portions. You won't go hungry. And that doesn't mean the prices are higher. Our problem now is making sure we don't go too often, for the sake of the diet and the bank balance! This is the best takeaway in Knaphill, and we wouldn't go anywhere else for cod and chips.

There is a reason people queue out of the door - great quality fish and chips typically cooked to order (rather than being sat for hours on end)My tip: order for fifteen minutes time and enjoy a beer across the road :)

I don't normally "do" takeaways but a recent first brought home for three was excellent. Right size chips with no scrappy bits, crisp and thin batter on good firm fish and all travelled well. Later on in the sitting area we had the Lunch Special which comes with mushy peas and tartare sauce. Very good value, friendly service, comfortable seating, busy and cheerful atmosphere. A bit draughty when the door was opened so some protective panel at the seating side would be a good idea.
