This pub is currently closed down. This was not shown on trip advisor and therefore we had a completely wasted journey. Not impressed.

We were on the nearby campsite so we went here for dinner. Quiet that evening but wonderful food and attentive service. Meals arrived promptly, beautifully cooked and well presented. We went back on our second night and everything was just as good as our first night. Hoping to return later this year.

Visited here Boxing day 2021 for lunch with my wife and a close friend. We were met by the landlord Alex and were shown to our table by the open fire. We soon had our drinks and had ordered our starters, I had the Haddock and prawn gratin which was absolutely brilliant and tasty. The other two had deep fried Brie which they loved. For main course I had Steak and ale pie, again tasty and the steak was so tender ( the pie is only pastry on top but still nice). My wife had the Salmon, and our friend had slow cooked belly of pork with amazing crackling. All 3 meals were great and our experience here was very pleasant. If you are in the vicinity then try a meal here, you won`t be disappointed, and it is so quaint there.

While staying at the caravan site round the corner we asked what the six bells was like and were told it was only open at weekends. This turned out not to be true, when we finally nearly a week after arriving rang them up they said they were open every day except Monday. So if you want to go then please check with the pub. It is certainly worth a visit, the food was wonderful and the service excellent. We were so cross we hadn’t checked earlier.

After a long drive and a lovely day we were looking forward to a good meal. We recommend this place by the place we were staying as it was the only pub that serves food. We found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating the quality of the food was outstanding you could taste absolutely everything. They can help I would recommend as well as pollution. The freshness of the vegetables and the taste of the gravy, was a wonderful combination that is hard to find. Would thoroughly recommend this place and would definitely visit again when in the area.

This was our second visit to the pub. Both on Sunday’s. The food was absolutely gorgeous. The roast beef was cooked to perfection, slightly pink which is how we prefer it and it just melted in the mouth. Really tasty roast potatoes and lovely fresh veggies. The service was very attentive, they noticed when we needed more drinks and the waitress that served us last night was really happy and smiley. The rest of the staff were friendly and efficient. It’s a real gem!

If I hadn’t got the details and address from Trip Advisor I wouldn’t have found this pub, as there was only a small board outside it. The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The Sunday roasts were excellent and the scampi the best that I have ever had, although the chips with them were just ordinary. .The desserts were delicious.

Used the Six Bells for two evening meals just before the second lockdown. On the first occasion we were the only two people in the pub. This was not a problem as we were made to feel very welcome and had a great choice of meals which were delicious. With a lovely open fire it had a very cosy atmosphere. The second visit was two days later when the pub was much busier and the welcome, service and food was just as good. We will visit again.

Had a meal here with 4 friends on a sat evening. Food was very good and generous size portions. Had a smaller appetite main course which was plenty and then a syrup sponge pudding with custard -this was also a generous size. Staff were helpful and service good. Toilets are very clean and when you go in you lock the door so there is only one person in there at a time...very good idea...although you can go in with members of your own party.

Looked around for somewhere to eat , nothing fancy just dinner and out and came up with six bells. Read the menu before so had an idea of what I would order. A big fan of chicken liver pate but generally disappointed with the home made thing and it rarely is. Tonight it was and it was amazing, followed by steak ale and mushroom pie really good start to finish. My husband had the mushrooms followed by the rib eye Really nice food

It was my birthday and it rained all day. We were staying next door so booked a table and the rain went away for the short walk. We wore masks but the staff didn't. There was hand sanitiser close to the entrance. We sat next to the fireplace. For starters we had a seafood platter which was very nice. We had lamb shanks for main and a meat pie. I had a ribeye steak which was large and tender. I couldn't manage the chips and veg as am not a big eater. It was my first meal out since lockdown. We didn't try the lovely sounding desserts because I had a birthday cake "at home". We left through the back garden as per instructions. It was too dark to see the garden. It was a nice meal. I feel some renovations might brighten things up, although it must be cosy on a wintery night.

A telephone call was answered immediately and a table was booked, lovely old pub with low beams and open fires. Ample parking at the rear and a quaint garden. Careful of one bench however, its a little rotten. We enjoyed our scampi with chips & a side salad plus a perfect jacket spud packed with Tuna & Sweetcorn. The pub is in a 30mph zone so exiting the car park is stress free. A wonderful welcome and you bet we will return soon for a couple of plughmans lunches.

We called on here for a drink and a bite to eat. On arrival the staff were friendly. We ordered drink then went into the garden, I don’t want to be too harsh but I must say for a place that has been closed for 3 months everything was over grown, (I would have used this time to get everything spick and spam ready for opening) The garden furniture was rotten and unkempt apart from one new piece. We had a meal, two roast beef dinners and to be honest I couldn’t fault it, roast potatoes and veg were very nice, the only thing I would say is not everyone likes their beef pink! My husband loved, it especially when I handed him mine. I know I have a mouth and I could have asked for it well done! I suppose this is the norm now pink beef. An option would have been nice. Inside the restaurant looked tired and would benefit from a lick of paint. Would I go back. Probably not only because there needs to be a lot of improvement inside and out to make it more welcoming.

Fantastic! I eat out a lot and this is somewhere that I have been to in the past and felt disappointed, but now times have changed. The landlord and landlady are both genuine, friendly and attentive! We had a family meal and met at the pub at different times the staff were welcoming and we were made to feel at home! What a change! I’ve eaten here in the past (many years ago) and the food was mediocre at best, and I had my concerns this time! All unfounded, the food was fantastic, the atmosphere warm and our meal was not rushed! We were the last to leave after the lunchtime sittings (they close for a few hours in the afternoon between 2:30pm and 5:30pm) this was not an issue we stayed beyond 2:30pm and was not made to feel in the way! I’ve booked for an upcoming family celebration (while I was there) I was so impressed and I’m really looking forward to trying more from the menu!! Just make sure you try it!!

This is a pub that I used to pass on a daily basis on my way to work but I’d never crossed the threshold. Unknown to me previously, there is a car park at the rear of the pub as well as parking to the front. On a chilly wet February evening the pub was very welcoming. We had a table for four set up next the the fireplace which was just what the doctor ordered for the weather conditions. The staff and landlord were all very welcoming and friendly. Our drinks order and then food order were both taken promptly. There was a good selection of draught beers, larger and cider for the gentle men whilst the ladies enjoyed a cool wine. We all skipped what looked like delicious starters and went straight to the mains. We all chose something different but agreed how good the food was.Three of our party felt too full to go for a dessert but the fourth member enjoyed teasing us with her gorgeous tasting dessert. The remaining members of our party either went for a large Irish coffee or a straight white coffee. We will return again hopefully having a chance to get into the dessert!

Good selection of vegetables, well cooked and presented. Tasty puddings. Two bitters on offer - Doom Bar & London Pride. I had the Pride - well kept - good to drink. Wines - plenty of choice. We were staying at the CAMC nearby and decided to come for an evening meal. Great old fashioned inn with a roaring log fire. We both had started and main course but sadly had no room for deserts so a good excuse to return again. The food was beautifully presented but more importantly was delicious. This is a super little country pub, unassuming visually from the outside but a warm and accommodating welcome on the inside, no heirs and graces, but polite and friendly service with a manageable menu that allows them to concentrate on the food offered and not put the kitchen under pressure that would distract from producing a very good meal, which I’m pleased to say we had. We are always impressed by the size of the portions and have enjoyed a range of different dishes. The beer is good and our dog is always welcomed. During the recent weekend we ate there twice and particularly enjoyed the roast dinner. The veg were very fresh and well cooked and the beef was lovely and tender. There is a first time for everything. And what I mean by that, is that I’ve never experienced such awkward, inadequate and appalling service. Me, my partner, (she is vegetarian) her brother and Dad, visited here for some lunch. Painting the picture for you. We entered through the rear of the building, with no signage to suggest any sort of entrance, we chanced it and found the entrance via the back as stated. Upon entering, we were greeted by a waitress asking if we booked a table. We did not, so they went off to see if they had a table available for the 4 of us. Whilst waiting several minutes, within that timeframe we were asked if we’d like to get some drinks. It was just myself and my partners dad that ordered a drink, and the (what we believe to be) landlady named Tracey had given my partner and her brother a funny look for not wanting a drink. Once me and her dad had received our drinks, a group of customers came in. They were warmly greeted and received drinks and seated before us. Fair enough if they reserved a table. Once we were seated, my partner had seen that there was only 1 vegetarian option available on the Mains section, which she did not want, and preferred to not eat anything. This was because, I asked a passing waitress if there were any vegetarian options, and that was the only one available. I understand that it was Father’s Day and it was most likely a temporary set menu. However, when it states on trip advisor itself that it’s vegetarian friendly, we didn’t expect that. More to the point, we asked if we’d like to order by the waitress, and we asked for a few more minutes. The landlady Tracey came over to take our order. Myself, my partners brother and dad wanted to order and not my partner as mentioned. However, Tracey said something along the lines of “ i can’t have a table for four people, only ordering three meals and two drinks”. This came across very rudely, and we were speechless. Our response was, that there were limited vegetarian options and my partner didn’t want what was offered on that menu. Tracey suggested something off of the starter menu, minus the cheese because my partner cannot have cheese, insisting she orders something, again coming across very aggressive this time. Anyhow, the offer was refused, and Tracey said she’ll just put the order through and snatched the menus from the table. After discussing what just happened, we decided to leave and take our custom elsewhere. As we were we leaving, we told the waitress why. (Because of the poor service) and left with Tracey, hearing and asking if we were going to pay for the drinks, that we already bought at the bar, in which she served us. Also, over £9.00 for 2 pints, definitely over charged? Given my partners family is from Eastern Europe, I’d assume she is a xenophobe. Because, why was everyone else served in such a warm and great manner?

Drink wise a bottle of pino for £18 which is not unreasonable as well a beer.

Went to this pub as a treat as the menu looked good, the food was mediocre and wine by the glass a total rip off, , we had 4 glasses which cost £6.80 a glass, totally unacceptable when there are so many other reasonable venues locally, shall never go back and want to let everyone know that if they go there they will be very disappointed.

We were stopping at the caravan club site next door and had pre-booked to go here for dinner. Our table was in the main bar area not in the restaurant and we had to wait a long time for our order to be taken. To be fair once we had ordered the food it came very quickly. My wife had prawns which were apparently delicious, I had the battered fish and chips which was ruined for me by the presence of bones in the fish and the chips were under cooked.

The Six Bells, a 10-minute walk from the Blakedene B&B;, is a warm and friendly country pub that serves the most delicious home-cooked English food. It's cozy atmosphere is why visitors come to enjoy the meal, the beer garden and the evening in this historic 300 year old flint building. Definitely worth the walk down the road!

My wife and I are spending a few days with our two granddaughters a few doors down from the pub and called in for lunch. It is a very nice traditional pub. The service is friendly and efficient. I had roast beef which was pink, tender and delicious. Pubs get it so wrong but here is a chef who can cook. A good pub lunch for a change!

We wanted to take my sis in law somewhere special for her birthday & it was as fabulous as ever. They live in Essex & we normally just go to one of the locals in Rustington, when they visit.

We were staying at the Littlehampton Caravan Club site and found this pub by accident. The food is fabulous and a reasonable price, the service is excellent with all the staff really welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere is great with brilliant background music that got us reminiscing about our 70's youth! We loved it so much that we booked in at the campsite again the following weekend just so we could go back.

In 40 years of eating out on a Wednesday night I've never left my beer. The first pint was Doom bar and was disgusting. I mentioned it to barman who Changed it straight away telling me the cleaner was still in it from cleaning the pipes, my replacement was better but not good so I ordered a pint of lager for my second pint. This was equally undrinkable so I left it. On a brighter note the food was good I had a t bone steak with dauphinois potatoes and veg 10/10 unfortunately I will not recommend or go back. Good luck but please you need to up your game or get out of this trade.

We had a drink here yesterday afternoon and dined here tonight. The food was fantastic. I had a Portabello mushroom stuffed with Gorgonzola and served with crispy Pancetta, followed by calves liver with sauté potatoes, which was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Excellent food, piping hot and very good value. Lacking a little finesse in places, but overall very charming and would definitely return.

I've given the Six Bells one star because I had to give it something. We were going to have a drink and/or eat here while staying nearby but it wasn't open on the two occasions we tried. These were at 5.30 on a Saturday and 4.00 on a Sunday. There was no indication of opening times that we could see.

Traffic jam on A27, getting nowhere and becoming hungry, we turned off towards Littlhampton in the hope of finding somewhere to eat. Came to this unpreposessing looking pub and debated whether to stop. Thank goodness we did. Great food, great welcome, lovely ambience good value. All pluses no minuses. As we regularly travel the A27, this is firmly on our list of great places to eat!!

We came here in the evening as it's only 5 mins walk from the Caravan club campsite and it had been pouring with rain since lunchtime. It was well worth braving the rain. The meals were superb, we had the plaice with crabmeat and the lamb shank. For dessert Eton mess and Banoffee pie, all homemade - very nice. Will come here again when we can. Highly recommended

I have only given 5 stars with this review because it is not possible to award 6 stars !!Some background – last weekend my wife and I were staying at a caravan park just over the road from the Six Bells in Lyminster, near Arundel and Littlehampton and had enjoyed visiting the pub on several previous occasions, albeit not for a few years. Our daughter and son-in-law live in nearby Ferring and we took them to the Six Bells for dinner last Saturday. The meal was so outstanding that my wife and I returned on both Sunday and Monday for two further superb meals. Why was it so good? A mixture of wonderful food and outstanding hospitality from Landlord Alex and wife Jo. I must also add that on Saturday Natalie looked after us and she was possibly the most professional and outstanding server we have ever had anywhere! The pub itself is lovely and old fashioned with wooden beams and also a large garden – I believe there is a function room as well for larger parties. And now the food……….this was not pub food but restaurant standard food which would have graced any top restaurant in London. Amongst the dishes we had over the three visits, the slow roasted belly of pork with apple and sage mash stood out. Pan fried fillet of plaice stuffed with crab meat was another my wife loved as I did with a salmon and prawn pasta in a lobster cream sauce. The starters were gorgeous and included butterfly prawns and wild mushrooms in a filo basket with a white wine cream and herb sauce. It was very clear that Alex had worked in top establishments in London as the food was simply outstandingly good and, as I said, of restaurant standard not your conventional pub food (although you can have some pub staples such as scampi or ham, egg and chips.)We were made to feel extremely welcome in this lovely establishment and I can only highly recommend it to locals and visitors to the area.We look forward to returning soon!

Been going there for 25 years, long before the new building. It’s always been pricy but the food was good so just paid it. But now it’s £11 for a sandwich with cold chips, and £8 for a slice of cake. Finally voting with my feet on this one. There are far better garden centres nearby where prices are literally half, and the food is much better. Went to Old Barn on A24 and for sandwich, drink and cuppa for two it was £24. Same at Haskins would be about £45
