Sir Henry Segrave in Sefton

Went in Wednesday evening and people were vaping in there, see it every time I go in, the staff might need to arrange an appointment at specsavers, if they can't see it happening. Thursday morning we ordered the small breakfasts and they came out with cold beans. The cooks must put the beans on the plate first, then start cooking the sausages and bacon, so by the time there cooked, the beans have gone cold. Seems most wetherspoons serve their beans cold on breakfasts, from what I've read on review sites. If they can't put them out hot, maybe they should start putting microwaves in, so we can warm their cold food up.

Very busy pub. Enjoyed a meal with my family before we watched the musical fireworks & couldn’t fault it. All the staff working their socks off and very friendly. Will definitely re visit when next in Southport

I am giving up with the Wetherspoons app. The service is poor. I am fed up of seeing my ordered drinks on the bar and nobody bothered to bring them to me. Much quicker to go to the bar!

i VISIT HERE WENT IM IN SOUTHPORT.i got to know most of the staff over the years.I know the goodies and the layabouts.Managers are useless its jjust a name on a badge.Most staff rude and idle and skivers.A certain lad as a manger just walks around behind the bar.....Pub Run By kids.A problem with attatude TIM get it sorted get rid of them.Do a secret visit you will be suprised.True review.

We were caravanning near Southport and normally catch the bus somewhere from home and dine at lunchtime, but it fit in for us to take advantage of the Afternoon Deals between 2 pm and 5 pm. We both had the All Day Brunch and received a large plateful of food consisting of Two fried eggs, two slices of bacon, two Lincolnshire sausages, baked beans, chips. We enjoyed the meal, although not very healthy! It was a reasonable price of £18.41 for both of us including a drink, I had a soft one and my husband a pint of Guinness.

This was the worse Weatherspoons experience we’ve ever had. We’ve been to a few Weatherspoon premises around the the country but this was by far the worst time we ever had in one. We took a table within view and earshot of the kitchen door. It sounded like a disco was going on in there with loud music emanating from it. Every time the door opened it was a blast of sound to be heard by all. At one stage loud screaming could be heard too. Somebody who I assumed was a manager had to ask them to calm down, it sounded more like a classroom We ordered drinks via the app which after 15 minutes hadn’t appeared. I went up to the bar to ask and was promptly and impolitely ignored. The drinks did come a few minutes later however. We then ordered food, two pizzas and two sides of chips. After about half an hour the food arrived. Honestly, my pizza was like burnt toast. It was pretty much inedible. My partners was fine. How hard is it to make pizza. Too much carry on in the kitchen and not enough attention to the job. I did complain to the waitress who was very nice and apologetic but I wasn’t going to eat anything else coming out of that kitchen especially after complaining. There are some members of staff who are constantly busy and others who just nonchalantly wander around and seem to like to hang out in the kitchen. It’s a pity because the hard working members of staff are being let down by them. The toilets where stinking and obviously hadn’t been cleaned for a good while. Even the cleaning chart wasn’t signed for hours before. Later on it was retrospectively signed by same member of staff. Totally defeats the purpose of the system. This is definitely an establishment that we won’t be visiting again. Management need to take responsibility for they’re staff and ensure that all workers act responsibly and professionally.

Me and a work colleague staying locally decided to eat here.. ordered on the app and drink came in good time, also the food shortly follows.. That was the end of my good experience, the food was over cooked or burnt, burnt fried egg on burned, dry gammon is not what I was hoping for, the rest of the meal was tasteless.. I know it’s a cheaper restaurant and we get what we pay for but edible it must be and wasn’t! 🙄

I have been in many Wetherspoon pub's around the country, and this must rate as the worst one ever. Slow service, very untidy if not dirty, laissez faire staff, I doubt very much if I will ever visit again.

First went in for breakfast it was almost empty in there but still managed to get given two dirty mugs! Toast was only lukewarm when it arrived. Went back in the evening for tea. Main courses were fine cheese pizza bread slightly burnt on edges but ok. Group of young people vaping in the pub but nothing was said to them! And it was quite obvious they were vaping! I asked a member of staff if vaping was allowed inside the pub and he said “ l don’t know I have only just started working here”! Ordered desserts large profiterole when it came it looked lovely. How wrong can you be do not order one! When I cut into it OMG the “cream” was liquid and warm! 🤮 . I found a member of staff to show her and ask and say this is not how a profiterole should be served, I said it looks and tastes like it has been defrosted in a microwave! 🙈 She said well actually that is how they come in frozen and we defrost them in a microwave and serve them! 🙈😩🤷‍♀️ I said how can you defrost a profiterole in a microwave? Unbelievable it was disgusting! I’m sorry but my visit here today was VERY disappointing we visit a lot of whetherspoon and this one today was very disappointing!

The worst weatherspoons i have ever been to. Poor service dirty tables rude staff. Order came wrong. AVOID, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE STAFF NEED TO LEARN TO SMILE.

Spent twenty finest the bar being ignored by bar staff who would serve one end then the other leaving a group without any service. Had to shout out in an angry tone to get someone to approach and serve us. When I complained all I got was a shrug off the shoulder clearly doesn't want my money. very poor service an utter disgrace.

The place was busy but the food came surprisingly quickly However......... The table was dirty and sticky The wattress bringing the order spilt a drink and never cleaned it up We received a glass with a bottle of water which was dirty, when taken back the female member of staff was rude, with attitude

A regular destination for us when visiting Southport it’s always busy with all ages of drinkers & diners. Hard working & mostly young staff are always smiling and pleasant, even when the diners aren’t and deserve praise at the end of a busy service. As usual our meals were as expected except on Saturday night our pizza wasn’t cooked through - we ate the toppings and round the edge leaving the doughy centre but the place was packed and staff were run off their feet so on this occasion we didn’t feed back (although we normally would). We’ll be back!

hi im giving this pub a very bad review as me and my husband was visting from blackpool and my husband had fish and chip after he ate it he had bad pains in tummy and sick as a dog im not happy a tall i was worried bout it and i had large mix grill and after it i had tummy ache i will never used again if i visted southport again as the chef that was doing cooking last night was picking his nose and eating it and not washing his hands its gems its disgrace place many thanks from nikki

Awful, used to be great place. For starters today 16th Feb, arrived at 11.35 am stood in queue at bar 2 people jumped queue when I cut in and said to girl with dark hair, tied back that was 3rd person to jump in, she said was no queue. So rude, didn't give name. Went to order breakfast, same girl told me, breakfast ended at 12, it was only 11. 55am and had been in queue which I pointed out. She took order. Food arrived 25 minutes later cold. They more interested in serving cheap beer to all regular alcoholics than serve food. Never again. Managers, train your staff and replace this one for sure.

Called in for a drink. Unfortunately facilities were unusable. No toilet paper or hand drying facilities. No staff willing to deal with the query. Mid week but still basic hygiene standards should be adhered too.

Cheap but not cheerful, we ordered burgers and waited an hour for them to come (tables around us that arrived after we did got their food way before us). When the burgers arrived it was clear they’d been under a heat lamp for a while- the buns were hard and felt stale, the chips we ordered were stone cold. My dad chipped his tooth while eating after complaining that the bun was hard. The pub also isn’t cleaned to a high standard, wish they hadn’t closed the other weatherspoons in Southport.

Waited nearly 45 mins for our food , had to back to the bar and ask were it was , it arrived stone cold sent it back came out in five mins , burgers were hot chips were freezing and burger buns were like rock would not recommend ever , will never be back I'd rather starve 😑

Here to meet a few friends for a drink. It was a Thurday, mid afternoon, start of a night out, and my first time here. I say first time, but it's a Wethies, there's a comfortable similarity to them, you know what you're getting. Decent food, good selection of beers, and all at very reasonable prices. And this's a good one. Well presented, clean, tidy and all decorated for Christmas. The staff were friendly, quick to serve, but best of all (maybe due the time of day), it wasn't packed. Busy, but not mad busy. The ones in my town center, as a rule, you can't move. We spent a happy few hours here in a very relaxed atmosphere. I'd certainly have no qualms coming back here when next in town.

Visited here with husband and young son, was busy however table was easily located, the environment wasn’t very clean and the tables needed cleaning however staff seemed very busy, food was reasonably priced too

This whetherspoons is a nice one looks rundown inside but the meals are well cooked and delicious the service was good our party enjoyed the food

Been here quite a few times drinks good value service ok,however saturday night after last orders 1am,our table with almost empty glasses was approached by a lad in his 20s ,who told us outside now your goin,i said excuse me we where almost going (lots of tables with full drinks around us )he said you get out now im the bouncer,i said wheres your badge (didnt have1)a staff member who new him told him to leave apparently he works there and had a few drinks,it could of ended ugly as we where getting angry ,manager needs to follow this up👍

Food and drinks were fine and cheap. Problem was young adults of which were under age and had at least two to three alcoholic drinks before they were removed. Also gave the manager information of people vaping inside the venue and she asked questions about who they are and where they are sitting. Put myself in a awkward position. We ended up leaving the establishment. Spent over £ 150 over three days. Do not think I will go back to this pub. Dated 20/10/2023

Terrible service, 4 people waiting at the bar were totally ignored, staff were wandering around the bar aimlessly serving people at the opposite end of the bar who had just walked in whilst walking past the 4 customers (not including me) as if we didn't exist, my partner and I walked out after 10 mins waiting with no service, will not be visiting again, most def the worst Wetherspoons I have been in, and I am a customer that makes a point of trying to visit a Wethers wherever we go.

Here for a couple off drinks, after a poker game and they have rung the Bell, went to get a drink and they said no considering that was the first bell and they didn't EVEN shouted Last Orders. Everyone here was asking the same, spoke to I believe the manager or supervisor was that last bell and all I got was its 12.05 Absolutely gusting considering we have been in other nights and the have rung the Bell for last Orders.

Went to this pub one Thursday lunchtime,it was about half full the food was very good and so was the service the young lad who brought our food couldn’t have been more friendly it’s a pity the manageress behind the bar doesn’t take a leaf out of his book,she was very rude and abrupt.we would visit again but next time make sure we don’t order with the manageress.

What a dump! Stunk of wet dog, tatty carpet & furniture, surfaces sticky, toilet disgusting, asked staff for kids menu & told they're dotted around tables, went looking & found 1 big pile so took some to area we sat! Condescending and disgraceful attitude from a female member of staff. No customer service skills whatsoever. I will not be going back to this pub again, quite a few more local pubs around to spend my money in.

We called for breakfast on a Saturday morning, the pub was quite busy at the time but we managed to find a table, first impressions weren't good as although the tabled had been cleared it obviously hadn't been wiped down as it was very sticky !We ordered the large breakfast via the app, drinks came out virtually immediately and having asked the member of staff, our table was cleaned properly Breakfast came out shortly after and was of a very good Quality, large and well cooked (even had dippy fried eggs - unusual for a chain pub) As with a number of Weatherspoons I've visited recently staff need to properly clean tables when clearing them and take empty glasses away when bringing fresh drinks to the table

Stayed in Southport in August for five davs and called in here four times from late morning till about 1.30pm. Didn't eat here so cannot comment the food but no doubt the same as any other Wetherspoonns. Special mention must be made to one of the staff, Tanya. On the Thursday, 19th Aug two elderly, disabled ladies came in and couldn't find a table so I offered them the spare chairs on my table which they accepted. They looked at the menu and decided on fish & chips and cups of tea. One of them went to the bar which was busy and returned saying she had been told to go to the back of the queue. One had a stick and the other with a frame and could not staand in a queue. I called a member of staff over, Tanya, and explained the situation to her. Tanya took their order and mony, returned with the reciept and change. Tanya then went and brought the teas to the table and shortly after the fish & chips. I found out later the ladies were both 91 years old.

Lady behind the bar was smiling and friendly. The food and drinks were ok . The serving staff were not very enthusiastic and definitely didn’t clean & clear the tables as promptly as needed. We wiped our own table with a wet wipe, and the lady on the next table did the same! There were out of order sinks in the ladies toilets, my husband said the gents was completely shut off and out of order so had to use the disabled facility…. Which was filthy, the floor was soaked with you know what ! Nice.

Visited last Thursday evening pub was very busy but was really clean and staff very efficient.. Thought they’d done anyway with curry club until I saw they still had curries and a drink for the same price so hubby very happy!

Stayed in Southport for 5 days and this was our favourite establishment. Very clean prompt service and the staff were just lovely. Definitely recommend

Visit this place numerous times but only the second since Covid 19.Ordered a mixed Grill which I've had before. Stated, pork, lamb, rump steak and gammon.Certainly never got all of this. No Lamb, No Rump if it was Gammon it didn't taste like it. Eggs were burnt, peas which are now extra were hard.I don't like leaving a negative review but they really need to take a long look at their menu.Very dissapointed.Staff however are as pleasant as ever.

Visited about 7pm on a Saturday. Very lively atmosphere and very busy. We were lucky to get a table as a couple, who had been waiting in the bar queue, cane back to the table where we were standing and said they were leaving because they couldn’t get served at the bar. I told then to use the App but they had clearly had enough of waiting by then!Ordered drinks and food on the App - again typical Spoons prices and decent cheap food - drinks came within 5 mins and food within 10 mins. We definitely preferred this Spoons to The Will Grove further down the road (which lacked atmosphere).

As a fan of Wetherspoons (Aberystwyth, Lytham, Poulton le Fylde, Backpool South) this branch is an unwelcome reminder how bad a bad Wetherspoons is.All tables disgusting and uncleaned.Literally no one wearing a mask.Staff unpleasant about customers not understanding a queuing system they can't be bothered to explain.Truly horrible.The first time I've left a pub with drink in my glass in 35 years.I remember when Southport was classy.

My boyfriend and I came into this Weatherspoons as we were really hungry. It was absolutely packed and there weren't many places to sit. We found a table next to a very kind gentleman, though there were half full glasses of alcohol and litter behind our chairs. The tables hadn't been cleaned and felt sticky. The food was average, definitely enjoyed it and it was very filling.

We visited this bar 2 weeks ago whilst staying at the Royal Clifton Hotel. The location is great, right on the Main Street. Decor is nice, and there is a large beer garden at the front. This was a busy bar each night, but the service was quick, and the servers were friendly and helpful. We had food on two nights, and it could not be faulted. I was impressed how quick tables were cleared of dirty plates and glasses. One of the managers on duty a couple of times was very friendly and he made time to chat with us. This must be one of the best Wetherspoons I’ve been in. Keep up the great work.

Weatherspoon's promise of keeping customers safe through enhanced cleaning clearly doesn't apply to this particular establishment.Taking the only available table I waited 20 minutes without the table being cleaned or my order taken despite a constant procession of waiting staff past the oil of dirty dishes on my table. I eventually admitted defeat and used the app to order a pint of plum porter which arrived after only a few minutes. My waitress was clearly distressed at finding no clear space on tge table and so was forced to remove half of the dishes in order to set my drink down. No cleaning, no wiping down. The remaining dirty dishes stayed throughout my time.

Walked in to a very busy pub, several empty tables but all needed cleaning. I asked a member of staff if he would clean the table for our family, he said yes but 10 minutes later he still hadn't done it. I then asked another staff member & he cleaned it for us.All 3 of us tried to place our order on the Weather spoons app but Internet wasn't working, it wouldn't accept our basket for payment but did allow us to put items in! Again I asked a member of staff if they could take our order as Internet wasn't working properly, he said I will be right there..... He never came over so I asked 1 of the female servers & she came over straight away took order & payment no problem.Staff member bought our drinks over but couldn't tell us which of our soft drinks were the diet 1s......told us to work it out ourselves!!! Not very good customer service by all 3 male staff members (all looked under 21) maybe they need better trainingMeals were bought out, but they had apparently missed 1 meal so 1 member of our party had to wait an extra 6 minutes for his meal, not good as we had almost finished our meals. Tables have been left full of dirty dishes, uncleaned for over 20 minutes. Staff members standing around talking to one another, wearing masks around their chins..... Come on guys if you are going wear 1 at least wear it right! Due to these issues our stay in this pub including eating our meals took over 2 hours....... Certainly won't be using this Weather spoons when next in Southport

Bank holiday Monday & staff extremely busy and under pressure but always went that extra step for me and my family as they had done all weekend. Can’t wait to visit again in the summer holiday

Called here early morning for the budget breakfast, balancing out the price and the quality it was ok. Called later for drinks, and as always with spoons very competitive prices.

Just been into the Henry Segrave on lord st, Southport and had the worst meal ever in a Wether spoons. Made a complaint to the manager, he said it was due to Covid, being busy and a change of suplyer. Totally spoiled our night. They need to sort out the issues with there suplyer, and certainly would not recommend, or get a meal hear in the future. Food was Luke warm, dry and tasteless. We should have sent it back but didn't complain at first, we know better now.

Called in for lunch - wish we hadn’t bothered! Wednesday 19 May. Took 20 mins for a waitress to turn up. Was repeatedly called ‘mate’ by a young waiter. After 45 mins with parking ticket running out was served with food. Both meals had been sitting on the servers under heat lamps. Both our portions of chips were lukewarm, both plates of food had congealed eggs and there was a skin across my baked beans. Manager called and full refund given. Also the table had not been cleared and sanitized after previous customers! Not impressed at all.

Ate here on a Wednesday early evening. Initially called in to another 'Spoons on Lord St, but looking at the Wetherspoons app we realised that the Sir Henry S had a much more interesting range of beers so we moved pubs. Beer prices were amazing - £1.69 a pint! Food was tasty, piping hot and great value. Staff checked on us to ask if the food was OK. Relaxed atmosphere. Great experience.

Visited The Sir Henry Seagrove this evening. My partner had the mixed grill and the meat was like leather. I had the vegetarian all day breakfast and left half of the meal due to the food bearly being warm the eggs were cold and hard and my quorn sausage had a very strange after taste. Unfortunately this has put us off and we won't return. On a positive note the staff on shift while we were there were strict with the covid guidelines which was good to see.

Has offers on Monday e.g. £1.99 pint of John Smiths. Outside seating and eating is possible on Lord Street so Covid secure. Order with app free wifi.

My friend and I called in for refreshments to take a break from the rain. QR code for scanning on reception, young man taking details for their records. Masks worn by staff, masks are also required for entry by customers, social distancing observed and whenever a table was vacated the staff came out to clean it. Would certainly recommend.

We had breakfast here last week. We both had the traditional breakfast (£3.49 each), it was good for the price you pay. Only negative were the beans on one plate were cold, everything else was ok. The pub has plenty of soft & alcoholic drinks to choose from at good prices (we had drinks here the day before). Great service from staff. There is an outside seating area too.

Clean, friendly staff, prompt service and tasty food. A credit to you all considering it was so busy due to the start of lockdown and sunny warm sunday

Firstly, I will get the food and drink out of the way. Typical Wetherspoon’s grub, cheap and cheerful. Drink prices are hard to beat, £3.64 for a pint of Kronenbourg and a Diet Pepsi. Plenty of seats inside and out and well located on the busy Lord Street.Now down to what really hacked me off with our visit, COVID-19 regulations! There are 7 urinals in the gents toilet. When I used it, two men were at one side and I went to the opposite side to keep up with social distancing. However, an elderly gent comes in and starts coughing and spluttering right over me when he stood at the next urinal! Why the 2nd, 4th and 6th urinals are not taped off is beyond explanation!!We will not return to this place or any other Wetherspoons if this standard policy throughout the pub chain, very disappointing to say the least!

We went here for an evening meal while on holiday. Social distancing and all procedures Covid-related were properly in place. The table was clean and the staff were efficient. We hall had a great meal, which was much needed after a long journey. We went back the following evening for drinks. Just a lovely environment - indoors and outdoors (as long as it's warm).

The pub the sir Henry is very popular busy place lovely staff good food deals but need extra staff to help out perfect quick good service to your table once it’s ordered

There are two Wetherspoon pubs along Lord Street and on our latest trip to this pretty seaside resort we went to both.The Sir Henry Seagrave Pub is a fantastic looking pub ,housed in the Pavilion Buildings, the interior is superb, your typical Wetherspoon decor and furnishings including a superb looking serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Lord Street. My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Friday afternoon, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the staff, we gave our details of name, phone number or email address to assist with the governments track and trace system and then sanitised our hands and got a table were we ordered a chicken burger and chips and as part of the meal deal we were entitled to a beer ,we chose bottles of Devils Backbone Brewing Co ipa, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great Wetherspoon pub we were in.My beer was really good, a crisp, well balanced ipa bursting with taste, a big hit of hops,just one refreshing brew , after a short wait our burger and chips arrived and what a treat.Beautifully lean chicken,a delicious topping served between two fresh tasty buns , coupled with our beers made for a great dining experience in a cool Wetherspoon pub. We both really enjoyed our burger meals and beers in here before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time. The Sir Henry Seagrave Pub is easy to locate along Lord Street. Opening hours are;Monday to Sunday, 8am till Midnight. A great Wetherspoon pub, most definitely well worth checking out if you're walking ‍♂️ down Lord Street.
