Singleton Barn in Ashford

Disappointing food, as has been the case for months. Great drinks and location but food isn't great. Not sure if the chef changed and whilst Shepps change the menu across their estate we have had such great experiences with the same menu from other pubs. Steak sandwich was very tough, bread tasted stale, other 2 sandwiches were on the wrong bread from our order. Chicken was also dry and tough.

Lovely Sunday roast for our last three monthly visits.

I went into the singleton barn tonight and was served by a young lady who poured a perfect pint. She was polite and well mannered with a great attitude. I later found out her name Lauren.

Not busy and the food disappointing on the whole. Tough steak but chips nice. Small portions on overly priced desserts.

The pub and gardens are well kept and very good. Bar staff (x2) were more interested in keeping 2 regulars topped up than the 2 of us waiting before the regulars had even finished their drinks! No service with a smile just a stern what would you like. No interaction during the transaction so we departed with our drinks to the garden. Loverly area and spacious, some covered tables as well as uncovered. Just a shame about the face’s portrayed on the two young bar staff.

Went here with friends on a fun day terrible service at the bar we waited patiently to get served only for the staff to serve the regulars in front of us when I finally jumped in to question this the so called bar manager snapped at me very rudely saying she wasn’t going to serve yet another regular I then ordered our drinks she then banged our drinks down on the bar her attitude was dreadful it spoiled the day for us most of the other staff were really polite and friendly

We chose this bar for dinner. We were not disappointed by the dishes, very good value for money. Our waitress was welcoming but we were denied several times by her colleague at the bar who only served male customers (subjective observation)

Sat outside under cover, set up for the euro football.

Kids play area. Great staff, efficient and friendly.

We had a delicious Sunday Roast here today . Not eaten for a while here at the Barn but had a most enjoyable meal. Plentiful, cooked superbly with good service from all staff . Such a pleasant stop off. Very much recommend a visit

Came for dinner with my nieces last night. The food was delicious and the staff were very helpful and friendly. It felt really relaxed. We sat in the garden as it was a lovely evening. Thank you 😊

Charity day,arrived around 5pm lots of drunk people,too loud music,fights breaking out and then added bonus of lads,lads,lads watching the football. Went elsewhere after first drink Oh and they had run out of coke!?

Came to the bar and was served by the lovely Lauren. She recommended a drink which is her fave, and it's a game changer. Her attitude was so bubbly and friendly. Thanks again for lovely amazing service

I last went to this establishment about 20 years ago and I had low expectations about this visit, but the weather was good, there was the children's playground for my grandson, so, despite my dislike of Shepard Neame we went there, myself, my son, my daughter-in-law and their son. As you can imagine some considerable differences from 20 years ago but mostly for the good, they've gone food orientated, or at least that's what this trip taught me. Additionally Shepard Neame has, some time ago, brought out Whistable Bay Pale Ale which is way above superior to any other non lager beer they distribute. Now to the food: not gourmet, but very much better than most pub grub in or around Ashford. My daughter- in-law enjoyed her chicken burger and left only a small part of the bun, the rest was devoured. My son and I where both pleasantly surprised by both the quality and presentation of the Chorizo Hake with Brava potato and Samphire. The grandson left only one slice of his pizza which was eagerly pounced on by his father. A thoroughly enjoyable meal and time; my only doubt - for such a huge establishment (in good weather) it is a limited menu. Shepard Neame aside, will hope to return soon.

Stopped for ev charging, the thai was fully booked, wasn't sure about the pub in front. But we wandered in. Friday and a bank Holiday busy with dj setting up. We went upstairs as it was a little quieter. Find a table order at the bar. What is possibly our 1st Shephard name pub. Order cheese straws and scotch egg as starters. The cheese straws were really tasty dipped in the tomato chutney. Scotch egg was accompanied with a mustard mayonnaise. The egg on the right side of firm with a little runniness. Delicious. The mains were fish and chips, chicken burger and a side of onion rings. The main bar was getting quote busy but the staff are very friendly. The fish and chips was a surprise the size of the haddock fillet. Ok down south so pea puree not mushy peas. A lovely charred lemon for the acidity. Chips were skin on fries as its not a chippy. A homemade tartar sauce. The chicken fillet was a huge piece with korean gochujang sauce. Impressive burger and big portion of fries. Onion rings proper ones homemade. The quality of the food was really good I even posted the fish and chips on the fish and chips Facebook page it deserved to be on there. I didn't even finish the chips such a good price £17.95. As it was late no one queuing for the chargers we finish soon after. Sauntered over noting it would be a pub we use for meals no hesitation. And great staff!

Went there was Sunday for the first time as my daughter lives nearby.i had baked hake it was absoultly lovely !!!

I must say the food has really improved over the last few months. Can’t say the same about the new supervisor Tom. Didn’t want to make ingredients to serve the promotion cocktails offered. But can’t praise Tasha (Natasha) on her customer service and going the extra mile to ensure we were a satisfied table of 7. Completely changed the outcome of us leaving. And turned into an enjoyable afternoon. Well done Tash

The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. We'd not been here before. I got the full rack of ribs, a dish I've had at many restaurants. I managed half of it before admitting defeat. It had so much tender meat that just fell from the bone. The chips, coleslaw and corn on the cob were delicious. Victory was snatched from the jaws of defeat by the lady serving our food, when the remaining mound of succulent ribs wrapped in foil were handed back to us!

Group of five, all agreed draught largers were either flat/off, just didn't taste "right", we all ended up drinking Hurlemans as was a good tasting pint.

Great family pub. Come here with my partner and little one for lunch and the food is always great and served promptly. Bonus points for the garden which has ample seating and a little play area for the kids.

New head chef and you can definitely tell. Quality of the Sunday roast has massively improved. Would definitely recommend. Not tried anything else off the menu yet.

Although I don't often go here the eat and drink , I know this place is lovely. My recent food and drink experience was fab. The staff are always friendly and the pub itself is family friendly- hence its popularity! It is fab in the Summer with the garden outside.

Really helpful staff, found us a table for 6 including a wheelchair user on a busy sunday lunchtime. Couldn't have asked for better service. Food was great too - good variety on the menu and a good selection of ales on tap.

This is a lovely pub with good food. They have a nice play area and outside seating. There is always good service and I would definitely recommend if you just want a quick drink or food out with friends.

I've been round to this place a few times of an evening for food and I can't say anything bad about it, it feels very warm and welcoming when you arrive, there is plenty of parking outside and amble seating inside, granted I haven't been at peak time so I'm not sure how crowded it can get. I've always been served with a friendly smile and the food, albeit pub grub at the end of the day, it's presented very well, good prices and good quality ingredients to make a good meal all around.

at first, I was shocked to see the price of steak on a normal pub but after having the steak, realised why the price is similar to miller&carter….steak was perfectly cooked, nice service, nice ambiance!!! will visit again

Went for Sunday lunch with a few friends and all I can say is I will definitely be coming back again. The portion size of the roast was fantastic, the food lovely and soft, cooked properly and tasted delicious. Certainly decent value for money. The staff member, Ellie, looked after us from start to finish and was friendly and polite throughout the service. She was a very good waitress. I would highly recommend Singleton Barn for Sunday lunch and look forward to returning again maybe later in the year.

The portions are large and tasty, the staff are helpful and friendly. The building is a nice old barn. I had Haddock and Chips and could hardly finish it all. It is a bit pricey though.

We visited late yesterday afternoon and were pleased to find they offered gluten-free fish and chips for myself. When the food arrived however, both my gluten-free haddock and my partner’s regular haddock smelt really strongly of ammonia - a sure sign that fish is off. We alerted the waitress, who decided she needed to speak to someone else first: having been in catering myself for many years, her first response should have been to apologise…. The offending items were then removed and we were asked if we’d like to order something else, but we no longer felt confident in the ability of the kitchen to provide a safe meal, so we decided to go elsewhere. We were also smilingly informed that 20 other guests had ordered the fish the same day and there hadn’t been any problems. Perhaps they’re struggling today with the consequences of not being aware of how toxic fish smells…. We were then told we’d just need to pay for our drinks and there’d be no charge for the food…. To not even be given our drinks free-of-charge as compensation for serving us substandard and potentially dangerous fish, is appalling customer service…. Do not eat here under any circumstances!

I spent Xmas day here, which was pre-booked. I had never visited this pub before, The food was wonderful and the service was spot on, we were seated upstairs and it felt like we had to place to ourselves. I will definitely be back here again and I would highly recommend it for a pint and a bite to eat.

My partner and cousin booked here for a wake this week , the manager and staff were very helpful and friendly and went above and beyond to make our day so easy for us even putting the photos up , and the buffet food was amazing thank u so much

I haven't visdited the Barn for some years and I was mildly disappointed with its current style. The place is friendly enough and service is good. But the current menu is, I felt, rather limited and uninspiring.

Had a great dinner today with my family, very yummy food, great choices and staff are very kind.

Came down for a meal with the family, all booked, lovely looking pub although the food isn’t much to go by as they ran out of all mains! And the “manager” that was far from dressed like one barely looked old enough, as she introduced herself looked ‘high’ her eyes were red and could barely string a sentence imagine my surprise when I came to complain and she was drinking aswell, the other staff at the bar did their best to keep our spirits up. Unfortunately not an establishment for families. Will not return.

Some of the staff are really slow and seem like they are all in their own little world and make you feel unwelcome and unappreciated so customer service must be rectified. Also the food is below average for a venue of this stature which I expect it to be so much better. Drinks are way overpriced (more than some places in London) A beautiful venue may I add however needs some serious work doing on the front and second line.

Fantastic to find a dog friendly pub that serves great grub and had great service. I would suggest you book as they were very busy (unsurprisingly) when we arrived although they helped to find us a table. Have definitely added to my favourites list. And as an added bonus, they have EV super chargers onsite. Perfect

A Very good afternoon. Not regulars but felt welcome. The afternoon was ruined by the individual vaping by the door. Otherwise a lovely afternoon.

Not local to Ashford, and was looking for somewhere to get a pub lunch. I asked a friend who lives in Ashford and he recommended the Barn, we are very happy he did. It is a wonderful building with a very large garden. It seems to be a locals pub. But this did not make you feel unwelcome, was a nice atmosphere. With helpful bar staff. The food was fine as pub food goes. No complaints. We will definitely eat there again.

Also had the pleasure of a great rock cover band 'Resonate' great evening 👌

Drinks are a bit expensive there, but the interior always takes me. Had a nice, chilled evening with a few friends. Definitely recommend for the winter months, it will be a nice and cosy atmosphere!

Had a meal hère after my nieces wedding. My burger was raw in the middle only the outer edge was cooked. So i only ate the chips. So i looked forward to my pudding, which was also a disappointment. The crumble was overcooked and although it was stated that the crumble comes with clotted cream, it was squirty cream and it measured a teaspoon size, a very dry pudding and again disappointing! I did not complain at the time due to it being a meal after my nieces wedding. Did not want to put a dampner on this special day. I certainly will not be eating there in the future, although the pasta meal looked nice and the banoffi pie, i should have chosen this instead. The staff were lovely though.

It's a lovely pub with a great outdoor seating area. We decided to sit inside as it was a bit chilly and sat upstairs. The bar staff were very friendly and the food when it arrived was really nice. Will definitely come back

Food was disgusting (kids pizza £7 was 2 bits of soggy garlic bread heated in a microwave with pasta sauce and melted cheese) wouldn’t even feed it to the dog. Loaded fries not to bad but the food has gone down hill in the last few months

Was all going so well, until we wanted to order a pudding. The bar maid was quite rude when we went to place an order as the kitchen had closed. We are not local, we didn't know, this could have been said to us, when we ordered mains.

Such a very disappointing experience. I used to like this place in spite of the limited meat free options. Tonight was a massive disappointment, the "vegan" chicken breast was overcooked and cardboardy. Served with cold corn out of the tin. Revolting. And service, usually so good, was cold and borderline rude. I'll stop recommending the Barn.

Popular place for a drink or lazy afternoon in the sunshine. Kids love the outside play area and there's plenty of seating outdoors, including some under cover. There's plenty of seating indoors, which extends upstairs in the more formal dining area. Plenty of spaces in the car park outside

Great bustling local pub! Lots of outdoor seating and play parks. A wide selection of beers on tap!

Came here for a family meal and although the restaurant is beautiful, the same can't be said for the food. Some of the food was overcooked and my Ceasar Salad wasn't great. They also forgot to make one of the meals but in fairness they did take it off the bill. The mocktails were very disappointing too which was a real shame. The staff were really lovely but I don't think we'll be visiting again.

Not a bad pub, turns in to a rather loud nightclub at the weekends so tend to avoid then.

Service was great, lovely young lady. Thumbs up to her. But the food was gross 🤢. The roast potatoes was hard and clearly been reheated. Cauliflower cheese was hard and in my opinion just put cheese on the chucked under grill to melt. Topside beef no way is was so chewey hope my dogs don't struggle to eat as cost do much I am taking it home. Never ever going back. 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

Catered for a party of 12 at short notice. Looked after our cake until after a christening and provided seating for 18 after. All friendly and helpful staff food was delicious and a nice play area for the children. Definitely recommend the Sunday roast.

Fab pub, dogs and children welcome ! Quiz night on a Sunday. Delicious food and really friendly staff. Bands in the summer and numerous community charity events. Everyone's favourite local.
