Just the best Indian food for miles.

In the last three months or so I bought lunch for my staff from Simply Indian twice. The food used to be excellent however very disappointing the lady two times. Every single dish except rice tasted strongly of smoky bacon crisps. Absolutely awful. What are they doing? Other people must have noticed too? Not going back unless I hear thst this has been rectified.

1st time we have eaten at Simply Indian and it was fantastic. The staff were very friendly, my daughter is a vegan so they recommended the dishes that they could make her her, very knowledgeable about what would be in her dishes as well. When our food arrived, it looked smelt and tasted amazing. I opted for a zlamd main, which can sometimes be very hit and miss, but it just melted in my mouth, not to spicy and there was a lot of meat in the dish not just bulked out with vegetables. The vegan dishes were also well presented and vert flavoursome. We will be visiting again, highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic service and delicious food! I enjoyed a birthday meal here with 13 friends and they didn't miss a beat. We didn't feel rushed, but felt very looked after. The food was exceptional. Great atmosphere. Thank you for having us! Will be back soon!

We are 9 old friends who have a pre Christmas curry here every year. Food and service were great as always.

Didn't answer the phone. Incorrect opening times posted on the internet. No opening times displayed in the window. We had to go elsewhere assuming they were closed.

Very expensive and not ready to offer lunchtime a service, even though they are open for lunch?! Nice enough food but stale poppadoms and 3 drips... £5.50! I couldn't afford a main dish here. After getting all the extra, I had to stick to a vegetarian side dish.

Best tasting curry’s we’ve had in months!! and we get a lot around Tunbridge wells and Wadhurst but this was the first time getting a takeaway here! And will 100% be returning.

Always a great curry from Simply Indian, a great dine in experience with Jamal and his fantastic team! Also recommend for a takeaway, speedy and very reasonable! Highly recommended the duck shashlik, well worth a try!

The food is still at a good standard But the service and the Politeness Has gone out the window... The tap in one of the toilets did not work.. And the other toilet was full of old Christmas decorations.. They failed to supply me With a fork so I had to eat with a spoon.. All in all not a great experience the only good thing was the food But considering I went there for a sit down meal I may as well of just gone and got a Take away And had a better experience at home eating the food

Food was good ...when it finally came. Everyone was waiting ages for their meals and yet various bags of take aways were being delivered ( superceding diners?)

Used to be slightly above average cooking and good value portions. Now they have reduced portion sizes it’s clearly a total rip off. This dish cost me £13

Very very ride behaviour of the staff at reception. We arrived at 12:10 am as the restaurant was suppose to be open at 12. The staff said we are not open yet and it will take almost half an hour. We said ok and started ordering and it was around 25£ order. He said you cannot dine in and said you have to take away the food. He was not all receptive and was not interested to welcome guests at all. Not sure about food but the staff attitude is at peaks.

Very disappointing to get charged differently on the bill to the prices displayed in the menu. You need to get this sorted and re-print menu's as it's misleading and unfair.

ordered a takeaway. Very tough , inedable chicken. overpriced for second rate food. One of the items was wrong, but instead of apologising they said '' but we charged you for something else''. I will ''Never '' order there again.

We had booked a table for two on a Thursday evening. Not a great welcome on arrival and when we sat down, the table had not been laid, in itself not a problem but then the waiter came with the cutlery, napkins etc he just dumped them in the middle of the table ! We ordered a bottle of wine, that also was just put on the table ... not opened or poured. Absolutely no customer service at all, very unfriendly and lacking in manners of any kind. We found the food to be good but will never return or recommend purely on the appalling service. I can’t understand in these difficult times when people are struggling to make businesses survive that this happens, I imagined that people would be going that extra mile. I don’t think I have experienced such poor service. We were staying at The Bell in Ticehurst at that time we visited Simply Indian, and I have to say that that pub is highly recommendable.

What has happened to this once lovely Indian restaurant, Gone down the pan big time, had a lamb jalfrazi 4 pieces of lamb and bulked out with onions £9.75 rubbish. Think they need a good chef, also the staff were miserable. Won’t be going back. Give this a miss !

What a real dissapointment!! Simply Indian you have gone well down hill and we would most certainly not be using you again........such a shame, as you were once a very good establishment to eat in. You have most certainly changed in the way your indian food is cooked? Very Very Bland!! No flavours whatsoever!! Garlic Chilli Chicken was always one of my favourite dishes, however, now it just tastes like plain bland chicken with a bit of garlic, veg and sauce, very watery with no consistency and in no way marinated with true rich flavours. So this goodbye and hello to Raj, Pavillion, T.Wells. Ok, it's a 10 minute drive, but at least wereguaranteed true traditional Indian flavours!!

Finding the menu at the inn where we were staying limited, dull and expensive we ventured out and about very happily finding this great venue.Recently refurbished, the spacious dinning room is immaculate and pleasing to enjoy. The staff are friendly, the menu varied, the food of a high standard and the value good. We returned for a second visit given the choice of several other good local options and that is the 'acid test'. We actually canceled a booking at a nearby restaurant and enjoyed our last holiday night's dinner here. Testament of high standards.I wish I had taken some shirts to show the place because the couple of photo here on TA do not show off what a nice place this is.

Called up while passing through the village and they were able to accommodate us. Great food, good prompt service and, overall, a nice experience. Would definitely recommend it.

We stumbled across this restaurant while in the area whilst on holiday. They fit us in at the last minute as they were very busy. The food is the best I've had in a while. So glad we found it! Service was great, staff very friendly. Restaurant and toilets were very clean. Definately visit if you get a chance!

Aubergine drowning in oil, taka dall no seasoning and bland, chicken was dry, floppy popadoms , very disappointed AGAIN!! Luckily it was with the government eat out scheme but still expensive, sort it out, fed up of paying high prices for low quality food.

Visited Friday last week for dinner - there were eight of us so we had a table for 5 and a table for 3 (because of the social family "bubbles" these days). The staff were very pleasant, friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. I had a duck tikka as a starter and the rogan gohse (not sure of the spelling) with pilau rice and a aloo gobi side. All very tasty and presented very well. The tables were all laid according to social distancing rules. As always if you have any particular dietary requirements it would be best to call ahead of visiting to make sure that they know and are able to offer suggestions.

Tucked away in this week village is an amazing weekend Indian restaurant. Friendly very professional staff, quick service and absolutely lovely food.The place is lit just right, quite music in the background, really clean and lovely decor, a full bar and great coffee too, I'm not even going to wait for desert to write this feedback, the owners should be proud of this place and especially the staff.I will be adding this place to my go to list for when in the area

Got a take away from here last week and while the food was good the price wasn’t. For the quality of the food this place is very over priced. Will not come here again.

Awful awful awful. Ordered no starters, just very simple main courses... took 1hr 45 min for our food to arrive. The restaurant was very busy which was the reason, but they dealt with it terribly. Only two waiters that we could see. Very little by way of apology... Why not offer us free beers! Or free poppadoms! Nope, they just said that they had a lot of takeaways. Big ceremony bringing the incredibly hot plates (they were cold). The food itself was ok at best. We won't be returning. Genuinely no idea why it's so popular. Seems as though the bright lights attract people. Utterly terrible. Sonar Gaon, here we come.

New to the area spending time sampling the local restraints. A bit of a wait or food but worth it.This one we will definitely visit again. Friendly service and the kids loved it. Or should I say loved the desserts popular with the locals which says a lot

Brilliant. Excellent fresh food every time, lovely staff and good prices. They deliver too!! Always a favourite and wouldn't go anywhere else.

We dine here regularly. It’s our local curry house and reliable if not spectacular. Very popular when it first opened because it was a lot better than the local alternatives. It’s still goodp but it has become complacent. The food is good. Not spectacular or even particularly special but not bad. It is expensive, 30% more expensive than it should be for the quality. Most frustrating though is the service. They seem to prioritise take away food and while they are quick to take your initial order they are very slow to follow up. Food takes a long time to come and we have repeatedly had to wait more than 10 minutes for the bill to come to the table after being requested. I think they are starting to take their loyal local customers for granted. They should be careful.

Good food and great for larger groups.

We had a great meal here. I had Chicken tikka razala which was excellent. My wife had a selection of vegetarian side dishes which were also good. Not as large a choice of vegetarian dishes as we would have liked, but still very good.

Prior to coming I had looked briefly at tripadvisor and read that the food was pretty ordinary and the prices high. We were in a group of 8 and I politely enquired whether another restaurant in the same village might not be a better proposition, but one of our group had eaten here before and said it was OK.Well I'm sorry. The food is underwhelming. Chapatis on the dough side. Dahl that looked nuclear. And a Balti that was swimming in spinach, where was the lamb? And how the hell did we spend £260 between 8 of us when the girls shared starters, has soft drinks, the men two beers, and none of us any desserts or coffee.There is no way I will be returning here, if it was reasonably priced it might be a maybe, but at these prices there are a lot better restaurants in the area. Do yourself a favour, avoid.

The food was average for an Indian take away. Ordered for a group of friends and so placed a big order. We challenged price at the time and got told it was correct, however after the meal double checked the menu and got charged over £15 more than it should of cost. Which of course left a sour taste after an average meal. Would recommend trying another Indian in the village.

Excellent restaurant. Really good food and service. I’d highly recommend it if you’re in the area. The curries taste amazing and they do takeaway and delivery, so if you want Indian, go there.

Don’t have a comment about the restaurant but the takeaway we had for three was really delicious. Lovely flavours with lots of meat, chicken and king prawns. Well spiced and ready when they said it would be. If we were in the area again we would certainly give it another try. Well priced.

Decided to try this restaurant again after six months to see if things had improved. Food still dry, and still trying to run restaurant with too few waiting staff. Food took too long and could not catch anyone’s eye for service. Won’t be going here again.

We were staying in a cottage ‘The Granary’ for two weeks and it was a nice change from The White Hart and frozen dinners(which were excellent). Friendly service good food and takeaway as well. Excellent decor.

Whilst Simply Indian does the usual bhuna/daal/vindaloo/Tandoori type of meal very well it has more interesting dishes that are worth investigating.

Not a good experience the food was very bland the chicken was not fresh it was that frozen chicken that comes in huge chunks and just mixed into the sauce and when told it was dry they changed it but came back exactly the same. When they first opened it was delicious food with strippes of fresh chicken breast that was lovely but they are going down the same route as most of the Indian restaurant and buying in dry chicken chunks (tikka and normal) and selling at the same price and it is very dear in there anyway so it's now a rip off. We now travel 10 miles to Raj pavilion Tunbridge Wells there you will see the difference in fresh Currys

Beautiful food and good service.

I find the waiters are always very friendly & helpful, but it isn’t cheap and the bill has a habit of being much more than you expect - but having said that the food is very good and fresh.

Nice place and nice enough curry but doesn't warrant the cost. The same curry from Sonar Gaon 100 meters down the road is similar quality (if not better on occasions) but 30% cheaper and the same in Tunbridge Wells. The Spice Cottage in Ticehurst is also excellent and even cheaper. Can't stand being ripped off!

Really good food and friendly staff. Attended with colleagues over from the US, China and Japan and all were very impressed with the food.

The food is very good, excellent service but I really think that in view of it's success, the restaurant should invest in some noise insulation work. It simply spoils your indian meal in the end. Most clients can't hear themselves talking, let alone the person sitting opposite, so everybody's talking at the top of their voices. I hope they shall improve that in the very near future.

I can't believe that I have lived only a few miles away for years and never found this quaint restaurant. A nice atmosphere, pleasant staff and a good service. A good selection of food which is very tasty. I have heard some people moan about the wait for the food. Its worth the wait. The takeaway is as good as eating in. Cooked to perfection, hot and packed with care.

This is the first time we have been to this restaurant, and I have to say that I was very impressed..., it really was the benchmark that all local Indian restaurants should be looking to reach...

Visited again early evening with family recently.. Although food is fairly adequate I always leave with a poor impression.. This time it was getting the order wrong and an extremely long wait for the meal in an almost empty restaurant.. While the food is ok the service is always poor with the feeling they don't really enjoy serving you..

My husband and I are on holiday and enjoyed a take away from here on our first night. We liked it so much that we returned here tonight for dinner. Staff are very friendly, helpful and attentive. The food is wonderful and not greasy like lots of Indian food can be. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely and the whole place was well cared for and clean. Highly recommend!

Both myself and my husband had an amazing meal here, we have been here a few times being as it's local but this time the food was so amazing it left us speechless! The staff are very friendly and always there to give you advice if you are unsure as to what to have to eat. The atmosphere is always welcoming! Would strongly recommend Simply Indian to anyone who asked!

Nos acabamos de regresar de un viaje al extranjero sin ningún comercial y necesitaba una comida caliente localmente. Nos apetecía un picante comida después de la insulsa de la aerolínea y decidimos probar simplemente Inidan que hemos escuchado cosas buenas. Nos ofrecieron el asiento temprano y junto a la puerta abierta, que era muy agradable. Varios otros platos había ordenado la cual llego en una sizzling caliente plancha así que las copian y disfrutamos de nuestras gambas y platos de pollo.

Bien su tiempo desde la última vez que comer fuera y si voy a hacerlo, sin duda, quieren que sea muy bueno. En el caso de simplemente India sólo sé que es siempre iba a ser el mejor. Si has leído mi último comentario aquí hace un año, no hay mucho más que pueda decir. La comida es excelente, inmejorable, y yo diría que incluye Londres o Manchester. Nunca grasienta siempre muy fresca y los sabores y aromas son para morirse. El servicio es fabuloso, los camareros siempre educado y muy amable y servicial. No es el más barato en esta ubicación, pero no es demasiado caro. Realmente se obtiene lo que se paga cuando se trata de buena comida. Recomiendo encarecidamente este lugar si están a menos de 20 millas o así como vale la pena la visita, aunque no reservar, especialmente los fines de semana o tarde.

We consider ourselves so lucky to have this fantastic restaurant in our village and if you enjoy delicious high quality Indian food than you really should visit. We are regulars you could say, but we never get bored of the exciting menu- everything is so fresh with lovely individual flavours for each dish. ( over the years have visited many Indian restaurants at home and abroad where every dish tastes the same if you know what I mean :-/ ) Great guys in there too each with their own lovely differing personalities. We really love this place - oh and the Nan Breads.... Simply the best!! :-)

This is a pleasant restaurant and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves judging by the general buzz of conversation. The food was excellent but the service was slow. It seems that a lot of the kitchen time is taken up with the takeaway trade which is a pity as it would be practical to allow enough time, space and chefs to deal with the number of restaurant bookings taken

I have visited there this Wednesday. That was my first visit. I really liked everything the service, food and environment. I asked for recommendation and the waiter recommend me Murgh mossala which was really really nice. Staff were very friendly, service was superb I need to say. One of the best meal I have had.

We had been to this restaurant before and had liked it, so we were pleased to be going again.However this time we had a very different experience. A complete lack of any kind of a welcome. It was late-ish:9.30 on a Saturday night. The feeling we got was that they wanted to go home. The food I enjoyed, though my friends didn't; perhaps influenced by the lack of any warmth or welcome.After the main course we were not offered a desert or coffee, so we mentioned this as we asked for the bill. No reaction. Then no tip. Still no reaction.A great disappointment.

My partner and I decided to spend our Friday evening at Simply Indian in Wadhurst. We booked our table for 8.30pm and asked for a table at the back of the restaurant away from the cold draft from the front door. As we arrived, there was one table taken with four diners finishing their meal, and then it was just us and a big empty restaurant. We soon discovered why. We ordered 2 x starters, 2 x mains, 2 x sides each, a bottle of £18 wine and a bottle of beer. The food was good, but after just one hour of being there, we had been served the meal in super quick time and then presented our £70 bill. We just couldn't believe it. No wonder there was nobody there! We will not be returning, such a shame.

Not often I post a poor rating but the service really was appalling. Such a shame because the food is rather good. However the indifferent, borderline rude service diminished our overall enjoyment.

We are regular clients of what we regard as one of the best Indian restaurants in Sussex. Sadly whilst the food remains to the same high standard the service has deteriorated on the last couple of occasions we have visited. More worryingly they seem to prioritise their take away customers to the detriment of clients who actual eat in the restaurant! Certainly this seemed to be the case last night as we sat for almost one hour waiting for our main course and watched as people entered and exit the restaurant with their take away food, and this was despite a number of the tables being empty... Really not good enough ...

We are local and have been here quite a few times over the past few years and it has not disappointed once. On this occasion, for the first time, I took my 8 year old son for his first 'proper' Indian meal. He thoroughly enjoyed his Chicken Tikka and naan bread. I had my normally mild Chicken Mackanwalla curry that I ask to be cooked Madras strength. Always with no problem. My daughter and wife had the mild version. All 3 were delicious. Service was gracious, helpful and prompt. Visiting is a bit of a no brainer.

Food was decent but the starters are overpriced and inadequate in quantity. We ordered a takeaway so cannot comment on the service though the food was ready on time and people were friendly. Good option for vegetarians.

My wife and I have eaten here on numerous occasions, we have always found the staff very polite and helpful, and the food to be well cooked and delicious. It's the only serious Indian restaurant in the local area so may be more expensive than in a bigger town with more choice. Overall very enjoyable and highly recommended.

You couldn't find a friendlier, nicer restaurant. a hidden gem in a relatively small village high street. The decor is modern and stylish, the atmosphere is good and the food is fresh and varied and they don't mind altering dishes to taste. We always feel as if we are special guests but know from other friends that they feel likewise. It's a great place for either casual or special occasion dining. You can park either directly outside or along the street - we've never had problems parking.

We had a good meal here tonight and I would actually give this 3.5 if I could but don't feel it's quite a 4. Staff were attentive and efficient and the restaurant is nicely decorated. We had a round table for 5 by the window. Food was good but I wasn't blown away. Definitely not very spicy either if you like your curries hot. We had a Dhansak and we felt it wasn't quite as fresh as it could have been and nowhere near as spicy as other restaurants. The kids sizzling dishes tasted fresher and the naan was lovely. So overall a good meal and good service.

Overpriced and terrible service, will not be going again, witnessed the waiter smoking and using toilets and not washing his hands before he served our food!!

Different flavours and excellent fresh meats/chicken used. An unexpected local find - good friendly unobtrusive service. Lovely on a warm evening as they can open up the front of the restaurant to let in fresh air.
