Not a fan,food was undercooked,"just b honest".

Appalling! We booked and paid for our takeaway online. We arrived at the time they advised only to find the place completely deserted. We were told by neighbours it had been closed for months.

First visit and not had a take away, attended mid week for a birthday meal, therefore the only party eating in, so unable to comment on atmosphere, that said, the food was delicious 😋 one of the best Indian meals we've ever had!

Food was really good. Waiter didn't want to speak to me (female) only my husband. Very few people, only 3 tables, in a large restaurant.

Felt like we were and inconvenience. Waiter seemed as though he had better things to do and he was irritated by us being there.Popadums and pickles given with a side order of ANTS! We complained but he didn’t seem bothered . We left. Would not recommend

It was freezing cold in there, the food was warm, and very average.We were the only people in there for an hour and a half..Would never go back.

Nobody in the place when we arrived, same when we left. We were placed on a table in the entrance lobby, a single fan heater plugged in blew mostly cold air at us, cold and cheerless all night, no other heating on for a cold febuary evening. Popadoms were good, but mains pretty average. One of our party had to send back his mixed grill because it was cold. After mains were cleared away there was no offer of deserts or any other drinks or coffee. Paid bill and left by 10pm. I hate giving bad reviews but this was a depressing experience, (particularly for me as I had booked on behalf of our party). Maybe we just picked a bad night, but this didnt come anywhere near the experience I would expect from an indian restaurant.

Food and service used to be fantastic…sadly if you eat in you’re served by a miserable man in a beanie hat then the food quality will be hit and miss,hopefully the owner will bring it back into shape eventually

Something has changed sadly, the larger seating area has not been used for some months, reduced staffing, seems heating down in the winter and air conditioning off in the summer? Ashame.

Off the beaten track be worth checking out. Monthly quiz night is great fun. Offering set price all you can eat buffet. Lots of parking large venue. Disabled access outside seating. Do check this place out to keep it on the map.

Food was good, but the service was average at best, pricey and the decor left a lot to be desired.

Just finished an absolutely gorgeous takeaway meal. Fresh, tasty and generous. Best we have had in the area for years and years. Great to have a high quality and reasonably priced Indian takeaway on our doorstep.

Food and service are beyond expectations everytime! Cannot fault one thing!!

It been a long time since we've been up there due to covid restrictions. New decor which was very nice. Friendly welcome and very good service. Food was lovely .

We’ve eaten at the Rajdutt a number of times and applaud the face-lift that it has recently undergone. The dark walls and vibrant wallpaper has transformed this previously cheerless restaurant and now the decor really befits the exotic cuisine. Our most recent meal was superb with each different dish offering a totally unique spice/flavour and no excess of oil. Instead of a typical vegetable curry, I opted for three bhajis; my Brinjal Bhaji, Sag Ponir and Bombay Potato worked particularly well together, with some delicious light Naan bread instead of rice. The whole experience really was a pleasure.

Used to use them a lot and there curries are good but their prices have gone up massively and now we get our takeaways elsewhere. Nearly £80 for a takeaway for 4 people is ridiculous We are at a restaurant recently that’s served chicken Korma at £6 which in our opinion was better compared to Rajduts £8.50? Both were offering 10% discount on collection. Such a shame

We went to Rajdutt for the 1st time last night. The restaurant has a very relaxed feel when you arrive and we were made extremely welcome by the lovely friendly staff there. Tables were well spaced apart but still retained a cosy atmosphere. The waiters were discretely attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Our meals were delicious, compliments to the chef! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely be returning soon.

The buffet price has increased but is still worth the money. Gorgeous onion bahjis... crispy and flavourful. Their korma sauce is thick and creamy. Literally can not fault their food. I always feel a little uncomfortable like the diners are being watched whilst eating and would prefer a bit more relaxed service. Highly recommend this restaurant.

With a change of management and a new specials menu we had another excellent tasting meal, we decided to try the new specials menu and I must say it was all great tasting. I had the calamari in a Goan sauce to start followed by the the Singapore chicken, the starter was so nice I could of eaten it again. However I was disappointed with the Singapore chicken it did taste great but I must say that for the cost I was very disappointed with the portion size. I hope in becoming a new management team they are not going all Nuevo cuisine, they always have been very good value for money but unfortunately not on this occasion.

I've commented on the Rajdutt before, as I feel the whole place needs a refresh or certainly a new layout inside...We visited one Saturday and the place was all but empty.., and I'm worried that others are seeing what I see..The minus points;1. The open plan is just awful, so uninviting.2. The food needs to go up a level if you compare it with other Indian Restaurants in the area. Chicken was tough, and not great.3. Drinks cost a small fortune.The plus points:1. Massive car park, loads of room and parking is never a problem2. Good scope to change the interior, as there is nothing in there right now.. Partitioning, new lighting would revolutionise the place.The restaurant needs a "reboot".., there is fantastic scope to change the place..I wish them well..., but don't wait too much longer...

We are regulars here, but pick weekday evenings when it's a bit quiet. Weekends and Friday evenings are packed. However the standards are always high but the wait can be longer, especially if you arrive just after a large party. That's probably true of most restaurants tho'.

Have enjoyed take away before, but decided to book a table this time. Early evening, so very comfortable and staff very attentive, but never felt pushed to leave. Nice meal with good flavours.

Second time we've had a take away and it's been disappoiting. Both times we've waited for 1/2 longer than the time we were told it would be ready. Half the dishes have been cold and we've reheated. Soggy naan. Madras is a medium heat when it should be hot and the star anise is overpowering in the onion bhargi. We'll go to Nutley for take away from now on

Booked and enjoyed a family meal at this restaurant on New Years Eve. Full house with a nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly but very busy and we did have to wait a while to get served and eat our food.The food was hot and tasty with generous portions. Prices are reasonable with a good choice of dishes. We were all given a complimentary Baileys drink at the end of our meal for the New Year which was a nice touch. Overall a lovely evening.

4 of us decided to ring the changes and have Xmas lunch at the Rajdutt Uckfield .BIG MISTAKE it was a truly awful main course a mixture of English and Indian and believe me it did not work we were given a few chicken bones with a small amount of chicken and a chop don't know what meat if any as mainly a bone parsnips rice with curry sauce a small Yorkshire pudding 2 sprouts and 2 small roast potatoes.We paid £35 each and were robbed would not recommend this restaurant it's dire.

We went to this Indian curry house with a group of friends, about 12 in all, for their Sunday curry buffet. The staff are attentive in bringing drinks, and one can get up and go to the buffet whenever one wishes. There is a good choice of curry dishes and rice, which seem to be topped up quite often so that one is not left waiting because something has run out. The price was reasonable, and we will all be going again.

I love the staff at the Rajdutt, warm and inviting people, but many years back, they changed the layout of the restaurant to an open plan, and it has to be one of the most awful changes they could have made..

Our party arrived to a very warm, friendly welcome so we felt that it’s a great shame that the mint green décor and stark overhead lighting makes the large dining area feel a bit cold and cheerless – particularly on a relatively quiet midweek evening. The interior really would benefit from warmer colours and low level lighting or candles.

Excellent food, did the classics really well and tasty specialties too. Will definitely use Rajdutt again and recommend to anyone as a solid option.

Had a lovely meal on Saturday night and we will shall definitely go back, however it was somewhat strange to see, (especially in this extreme heat), that a certain customer was wearing a hoody in the restaurant. It would appear that dress codes seem to be more flexible in the Rajdutt, so I'm thinking I might wear beachwear in the winter.

The perfect place for a great meal and extremely good service. The staff are so friendly and helpful.

We went to the Rajdutt Tandoori, Uckfield for their Sunday buffet in a party of 12 people. Being a serve-yourself buffet makes it a whole lot easier when you have a big group of people: you can all get up at the same time and help yourself to exactly what you like. There was a reasonable choice, although a couple of items were getting low by 1.00 pm. However, there was still lots available and I think most of us felt that the food was good and quite tasty, with a reasonable choice from mild to hot. It's not the best Indian food in the area (in my opinion) but very adequate and good value for the price. I would think that we will return.

Always come to Rajdutt for the best curry ever. Spend a bit of time with the guys there too as they're always welcoming and fun. Love this place and have done for years. 😎

As always, the food was hot, delicious and fresh. The buffet is great, they have a good selection. The meat is well cooked. Onion bahjis are the BEST!

Visited here recently and it was packed with diners, in fact we have never seen it so busy. Service was a little slow as they were so busy but the food was still great. Well done to all the Chef and all the staff who worked their socks off and were still smiling at the end of the evening. In my mind the best curry restaurant around and of course we will be back.

Food is generally of a good standard when we have eaten here. However on the last two visits the service has been very slow, it took an hour for our order to arrive this time which was slightly quicker than our previous visit !

I've eaten here loads in the past and always really enjoyed it but this time it didn't seem the same and I had taken a friend visiting from overseas too. The table cloth had seen better days, service was slow and our young waiter seemed rather surly only smiling when we left despite us being very patient and not making a fuss when spilled some of the starter over my friend and spilled the wine leaving my glass dripping. Our three starters were fine and enjoyable and my friend said his chicken balti main was good, the chicken in my satay was drier than normal and not quite as tasty and alas the lamb in the bhuna was very chewy. I didn't say anything as I didn't want to make a fuss and embarrass my friend. We did take the leftovers home as I hoped the lamb might soften up from being slowly warmed but on having it for lunch it was just as chewy I also came across whole green cardamons which weren't too pleasant to bite into and a large hard stone as if from a fruit. I don't know if it was from the bhuna or balti as they had mixed them together for us to take away. It seemed for some reason on this occasion they lacked the usual care and attention both in service and cooking.

Having eaten here on many occasions and having takeaways . excellent Indian food, staff very friendly and social. Good Sunday Buffet and good beer.

Had one of the best Curries from here. Great fast service. Reasonable prices and was a very good quality. Would get the full 5 stars if they delivered but collection not an issue can have a drink at the bar while you wait.

This is by far my favourite curry house. I visit almost once a week for a takeaway and make sure I have time to sit and talk to the wonderful staff.The food is amazing!!

We were a group of 6 family members, eating at the restaurant this evening.We each ordered very different regional dishes knowing we would swap and sample everything on the table.The food was good, with lots of character and taste definition. We all agreed that every dish was well cooked and enjoyed.The interior of the restaurant is plain and uninspiring, but clean and well maintained, to be fair for a family gathering it was perfect-not distracting in any way.I have eaten in many Indian restaurants and am comfortable with whatever seasonings, spice and heat is normal for an authentic dish. I would say the food here has the heat of dishes turned down, but this in no way diminished the overall flavours. And I know many find authentic Indian cuisine a little challenging, it is all a matter of taste, literally.

In my experience of eating at various Anglo-Indian restaurants across the UK, I have had a reasonable mixture of meals both good and bad. However, even the bad ones have generally had something small that made them worthwhile. Not here. I have genuinely seldom found a restaurant that just does not manage to get anything right at all.The service was slow. It took about forty five minutes after ordering for our food to arrive, and given that the restaurant was completely empty apart from our table for the entirety of our stay, during peak restaurant time, we all struggled to see what the hold up could have been.I asked the waiter if the "black pepper chicken" was a chettinadu. Yes, he replied. No, it wasn't. It was not curried at all, and came with a thick watery substance that resembled gravy mixed with soy sauce. The chicken tasted alright, but was nothing like I was led to believe. The onion bhajis were terrible. They were not seasoned, and tasted as if they had been cooked in water rather than oil. Soggy and tasteless lumps that had barely any onion in them might have been more accurate.If it is any consolation, the wine was reasonable. At the end, they also served us each a Bailey's with Tia Maria which was a nice touch, but did little to make up for the really bad food. Perhaps that is why the restaurant, laughably decorated as the worst kind of "Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" (think blurry pixelated photographs of elephants), seems to fail completely at drawing in a local crowd; instead it must wait for those travellers who have not tried it before to mistakenly wander through the doors.

Some of the best Indian food I have ever tasted. The staff are a great friendly bunch. Sometimes the service can be a bit slow, but well worth the wait.

Always good quality food here as well as good value. Good service as always. I thought the wine list was fairly extensive and very good value.

Not been here for a while as always preferred other Indian restaurants in Uckfield. I know people that love the place and food but for me again it was not good. The service while friendly was extremely slow. Yes the place was full, but is not excuse. Eventually when the food arrived, my chicken was very dry and the dish far to hot for a medium labelled korai. I will continue to go elsewhere in Uckfield.

Had a nice evening, not very busy (just us and two other tables all evening). I found the food to be bland and a bit tasteless; I had the curry with lentils which is usually my favorite but this was not nearly as flavorsome as I am used to. One of the waiters had (food?) stains over the front of his shirt which was a bit off putting to me. We had a really good evening with friends and the liquers at the end were a nice touch, but I certainly dont think its the best Indian restaurant in Uckfield

Have tried most of the Indians in the area and remembered we had not been here in many years. On a Saturday night we got a table no problem ringing an hour before. First impressions were it was clean but lacked ambience, lighting seemed quite bright for an evening. The poppadams were ok, not the best but the dips with them were good. Really enjoyed the onion bhajees and mains of vegetable curry and chicken tikka. My husband asked for the vegetable Parthia to be cooked to madras heat and he said it was really good. A complimentary cream liqueur at the end was a nice touch. The house red wine was nice. Staff were friendly. Toilets were clean!

Visited here with girlfriends. Service was courteous but food was very disappointing. I had the chicken and lamb sashlick curry but the lamb was in joints and appeared burnt and was quite inedible. We were not asked how our meal was and I didn't complain for fear of spooling evening out with friends. Will not be returning.

Eat at the Rajdutt a fair bit and I guess everyone has there favourite and well this is ours. Never tried the buffet offering before and at £8.95 per adult at £4.95 for kids you have to be fair in you judgement. First thing to say is no unfortunately the quality doesn't seem as good as ordering in the evening but then that might be because our usual isn't on offer on the buffet? Having said that there's a fair range of mildly spiced chicken and beef curries on offer. The onion bhaji however were raw in the middle...I pointed it out and to their credit they were whisked away and either re cooked or remade. Either way they came out a lot better. If I had a recommendation it would be a selfish one...please put on the sag paneer as a side dish option...you do that so well!

Friday evening is curry night! For several years we have enjoyed this venue. Excellent menu & value for money.Very friendly staff.

A friendly welcome on arrival. Shown into main dining area which on first appearance looked a bit stark almost like a care home. But the tables had plenty of room around them and the chairs were comfortable not squashed in like modern Indian restaurants. The food was good and delivered in a nice relaxed way not rushed. All said and done a good Indian meal. If your not worried about eating in a chic minimalistic modern Indian then it's fine. Would eat there again.

We lived in Uckfield for over two years before visiting here... The main reason for that is the look of the building and empty car park. Our friends suggested we go here and as a table of six we did. The decor is very dated and needs to be modernised which would give much more appeal. The signage outside also looks very old. We had a lovely menu to choose from and the staff were on the ball and friendly. We took our time to decide of which the staff understood. Myself and the wife very much enjoyed the food and our friends did too. The price was spot on. I will definitely be coming back in the future. Others please don't be put off by the dated look. Thanks for a nice evening.

We get takeaways from here a few times a month when we have family or friends come to stay. The food and staff are excellent. The quality of the food is always to a very high standard. Staff very friendly and never forget who you are. I would high recommend to anyone.

Nice friendly welcome, clean well lit restaurant, the food is always freshly cooked to order, good variety on menu to all tastes, highly recommend any of the chefs specials, 100% recommend eating here, weekends I recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

We arrived around 10pm on a wednesday evening, but the kitchen was still open. In the Netherlands, we do not have a long-standing tradition of Indian restaurants, so we gladly accepted the advice our host gave us - and enjoyed a very good two-course meal. The staff were very friendly and interested, and we would certainly have returned, had our stay been a little longer.

We regularly go to the Rajdutt and have great food and fantastic service!!! A big family meal on Friday night was no exception, all the food and sides came out at the same time and all tasted marvellous and all staff couldn't do enough for you!All in all a great place for an Indian meal. I would recommend any of my friends or family.

Having eaten here on a regular basis since moving into the area over 8 years ago we paid another couple of visits in June & July for various birthday celebrations - most recently in a partyof nine As always the food was excellent with a great variety of dishes on the menu while portion sizes were, as always, large!Looking forward to our next visit (hopefully in the very near future!).

I have just tried to order a delivery from the raj with half an hour of supposed service to go. The person who answered asked for what I would like and then abruptly hung up mid order for no reason, they then would not answer the phone. Why advertise still a specific time if your too lazy to work to it.

We have eaten several sunday buffets here and the quality is always consistently good. There is a choice of starters to choose from, including chicken tikka. 3 meat curries(2 chicken 1 lamb) veg curry ,rice and potato with spinach. The food is delicious, staff attentive and friendly,all in all an amazing find .

This was my local curry house before relocating and every time we are in the area we come here (always fingers crossed it's as good), they always remember us and make us welcome, it was a Tuesday night and quiet there, but food was as normal first class and couldn't fault it, always get a free drink and no sign of things changing, we are used to the fact that it looks like an old pub (which it is) and a bit tatty outside, but never disappoints.

I always look forward to visiting this fine Curry Restaurant, food very good and with many unique dishes that surprise and delight.Good attentive service always.

My family and I have been regular visitors to this restaurant for many years have found find the food to be consistently good. The main ingredients used are noticeably better than we have found in many other establishments, the menu is extensive and varied, and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. The buffet Sunday lunch is excellent and remarkable value and is always a welcome treat for the family. So, a long overdue thank you to Raj Dutt's management and staff for their excellent fare and service which we hope to enjoy for many years to come.

We come to this restaurant often as the food and staff are great.You are never rushed and it is just a lovely place to go with friends or as a couple.The prices are brilliant and much cheaper than other restaurants in the town.We will definitely be coming here again soon.

We visited the Radjutt restaurant before last Christmas. The food was excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly. Lots of people in the restaurant and a cheerful atmosphere. We even got a Christmas card from them! Will defiantly visit again

I am not usually a fan of indian food so tend to avoid it, however I would be happy to visit Rajdutt again. The menu was vast so even I could find something I would like, the service was very good too. It was very quiet when we visited just after christmas so I would like to get the feel of the place when there are more people dining, the decor is quite bland and would be nice to update it. Really enjoyed the curry, but not so much the desert.

Ordered a takeaway to collect at 8pm. Nice place inside and plenty of people dinning. There is a bar as well where you can drink before you go into the restaurant. Takeaway was very tasty but the 4 popadoms we ordered were all broken in to small bits. Curry Luke warm.Will try again , not to be dismissed

best tasting indian around, food always excellent quality, and cooked just how i like it. staff always friendly and always say that we should sit on a bigger table (obviously our eyes are bigger than our bellies)you can take away what you cannot manage on the table, which is a bonus for next day treat

We ordered a takeaway and sat at the bar with a beer waiting for it. One of the waiters brought a try of glasses from a table and put it on the bar. The waiter behind the bar rinsed them under and tap and dried them. One glass had lipstick stuck on it, and he then rubbed it off with his finger, and then dried it and put it on the shelf. This was in clear view of the customers. What happens in the kitchen? It does have the local authority 5 stars on the doors. Maybe that shows not to trust the signs completely! We did not eat our takeaway and would not return

We went here for the first time whilst visiting family nearby. It was a Saturday night and to be honest was very busy but we were seated almost immediately and our drinks order was taken shortly after. After some wait and seeing several staff just 'milling around' the waiter came over to take our order - it was almost as if every staff member had their own 'job' and wasn't allowed to do anything else, hence some staff busier than others!My food was lovely - hot and tasty, but my Mother in Law ordered king prawns - when they arrived they were tiny and really chewy. When we were asked how our meals were she explained about the prawns but no solution was offered, such as a change of dish etc. We had to wait a while for the bill after asking for it, but at the end of the day it cost around the £50 mark for the 3 of us for a bottle of wine, main courses, rice and a naan. Was 'ok' but I feel the service let them down somewhat.

Being in the area for the night through work i was recommemded the rajdull indian resturant ,the place is just outside town it has a nice big čar park and was easy to find . Being a wednesday night and early the resturant was as expected quiet . On entering i was greeted and asked was i dining or ordering a takaway . Nice area for pre meal drinks just in front of bar . I was seated right away and ordered a kingfisher draught beer £3.80 , usual pooperdom and dips while i chosse what to order .started with onion bhajis starters ,a chefs specal for Mains with naan bread the bhajis were the best ive had and the chicken curry was wonderful with loads of spices and herds added (delicious) the waiter asked how the meal was and made sure i was ok with clearing the table and fetching drinks durng the meal. Pricing was standard and service was good . Nice place to dine i would return again if in the area .

Not been here for several years as always found other Indian restaurants in Uckfield (particularly Blue Asia) much better. Nothing changed for the better since then, so it will be several more years before I try it again.

As Barry Whyte would have said. had the first curry from this restaurant when we moved into the area. My wife said the Korma was definitely the best she has tasted I however still seek that elusive taste that i am accustomed to been a Bradford lad. I also felt that it was a bit to pricey maybe it's the Yorkshire in me lol Anyway i will not be going back.

Friends booked this restaurant for a group of us on a Sunday evening.Overall the quality of the food was quite good. However, the restaurant was cold (perhaps because we were early), the restaurant was dark and some parts were tatty and worn. Overall there are better places in Uckfield.

The Sunday buffet is OK, but wouldn't make me return. I am told the a la carte is better; might need to try that.

We went there on Sunday lunchtime. The food was excellent. We would highly recommend it. The staff where very attentive. We would definitely be back again.

Converted pu. Excellent food, friendly service. Good size portions at a reasonable cost. You can order a great variety of things and if there is too much just take it with you.

We visited here as a family of 5 with 3 children and were really pleased with what we found. The staff were immediately welcoming, particularly to the children. We thought the menu was comprehensive and enticing. We ordered a good selection of dishes for us all to share. Good advice from our waiter stopped us over ordering! The dishes were all really flavoursome, with individual spices and flavours clearly discernible. The meal was a delight from start to finish and definitely the nicest curry we've had in the local area for a long time. The house wine was also very drinkable. We'll be back!

We love eating at this restaurant! Food is superb and staff are very helpful and friendly. Excellent value for money. if you pay a visit, the Sizzler Juliet is well worth a try! Yummy!

I have been going to Rajdutts ever since it opened. My parents live close by and we all love to eat there because the food is some of the best I've ever eaten. I rarely have lamb dishes in other asian restaurants as I find them too chewy but the lamb at Rajdutts is as tender as anything. They must use the best cuts. The staff too are always friendly, engaging, funny and you feel you're getting their attention. I don't think I have ever had a negative experience, it's ALL positive.
