Bao where great but a very small portion. The sharing plates where all instantly forgettable unfortunately. All food arrived cold or cool at best. Previously visited at Spark and thought it was far better (Bao and Ramen on a few occasions). Total bill felt overpriced for the amount of food served. Disappointed overall.

We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant as had heard it was fab when in the sparks unit. It shares a building with Forage and it was nicely decorated but not very warm I had to keep my coat on. The menu was limited. The bao buns were lovely, gyozas ok, flat iron steak chewy and only just warm. Cauliflower tempura was hot but still hard and very dry . Service was slow .

Seen some poor reviews above, but please please please give the place a go. We came in late November and from what I and my other half have seen the place has only been open a month and a bit. Shori is only one half of the business - the other being Forage. The food offered by Shori and was excellent. We ate two of the nibbles (seaweed and matchstick fries) which were lovely, followed by two bao buns and three small plates all of which were genuinely excellent. Both baos were beautiful - soft buns served with deliciously considered British takes on an East Asian classic. Same for the small plates - a healthy portion of great gyoza, beautiful prawns (served with an amazing sauce) and a proper yakitori skewer complete with pickled daikon which really tied the skewer together. Forage provided a real spectacle of a cocktail menu complete with a really well thought out festive offering. We got really into both the main and festive offerings and drank six drinks across these and I must say that the balance between substance and style was for me perfect. The presentation of the drinks was amazing - from bespoke boxes to old tricks done well such as dry ice and smoke but tempered by good craftsmanship through well sourced liquors, thoughtfully balanced flavours and even a few bespoke ingredients ingeniously produced by local and connected distillers (chestnut distillate, discarded croissant distillate, and chocolate orange gin springing immediately to mind). As always with any restaurant experience the real icing on the cake was the care and attention given to our us by our server Josh, who was absolutely excellent - both personal and professional - not an easily achieved balance. Thanks you very much Forage, Shori and Josh!

Me and my partner visited today for the Sunday Lunch. We were looking forward to what sounded like a really exciting meal - seaweed roast potatoes, curried carrots and Miso glazed spring greens. When the meal arrived, the carrots were cold (with only a faint hint of curry) the greens were overcooked (mushy and slimy coated in oil) and the roast potatoes bared no trace of seaweed - just regular, albiet well-seasoned, roasties. One of the lunches was with yakitori chicken and the other with pork belly. The quality of both meats was extremely poor. Both the chicken and pork were mostly fat with a bit of meat you could pull off with your fork if you're lucky. I understand that pork belly is a fatty meat, but to get 2 forkfuls of pork over the course of the whole dish indicates a cheap cut of meat. And if the meat is a fatty cut, it at least needs to crispy (not mushy, as ours was). When we finished our meals with visible amounts of food left on the plate, we were honest to the waiter that we were disappointed with our meals, explaining the reasons outlined above. The waiter said 'I know, were really struggling in the kitchen today'. Which struck me as a strange thing to say - why serve what you know to be substandard food? He then walked off, leaving our plates on the table and with no real explanation or apology. We then went to pay at the till and were subtly charged a 10% service fee. I wouldn't have known about the fee if I didn't ask for a copy of the till receipt before paying. I paid in full anyway, not realising I the additional charge until we had left, but I was disappointed that no mention of our dissatisfaction with the meal had been mentioned to the member of staff taking our payment, as I absolutely would not have wanted to pay for the service fee (or £12 each for our mains, to be honest). Overall, the menu promises much, but delivers very little. The decor and atmosphere of the place is nice, but it seems they have compromised the quality of the food for style. Judging by what we received today, the food is vastly overpriced. Even when my partner and I were seated, we were shown 3 menus for cocktails before being asked if we were eating, too, so maybe that's where Shori want to place their efforts?

Very poor tofu boa buns. Had high expectations because these were fantastic when the food was cooked at Sparks. These were more expensive, smaller and Tofu was slimy. Coating was also different. Menu said £6.50 each but £14 for two ??

Having heard good things about Shori we were excited to try the food and were not disappointed, if a little overfaced as we were ordered from other Spark stalls at the same time. The ramen was incredibly filling but tasty, and the bao bun was excellent and equally large.

Ate the pork ramen and meat gyoza. Both were incredibly tasty and filling. Best ramen I've had outside of Japan. Give wagamama a miss and try this place out. We'll wort a visit.

Incredible food. Having had ramen in Japan this is the next best thing, better than any ramen I’ve had in London (including Kanada ya and Shoryu). Got the pork ramen and the soup was so creamy, bao buns so tasty and pork char siu skewer are what dreams are made of! I ordered the bundle which included a ramen, drink and side but unfortunately there was no option to add an egg, and they kindly gave me one on the side. I will be making at least monthly travels from Leeds to York for lunch! Please open a restaurant soon!

Food was fine but delivery was awful. I called Sushi & Bowl at 17:30 who said the driver had left at 17:15, 5 mins after the time I was given for delivery. Shouldn't charge a delivery fee if they don't intend to be on time.

Local and come here lots. Food is amazing, lots of vegetarian and vegan options, and gluten free options, and there’s always new specials. So many deserts and drink options, from alcohols to matcha, soft drinks, teas and hot chocolates. I am inclined to their unique selection of high quality teas, their jasmine tea one of the best I’ve tried. Service is always quick and very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is so peaceful and calm. And of course the place and outside area are beautifully decorated. Reasonably priced as well. The most underrated cafe in York by far.
