Shoreham Airport Restaurant in Adur

This restaurant is unique. It's a hidden gem. Inside the historic art deco airport terminal with outdoor seating next to the airfield. Sitting eating lunch whilst watching the planes is a lovely family outing.

We come for Breakfast on cleaners day, to get out of the way. Great breakfasts, small one enough for me, big one enough for himself. Lovely views, not just planes, but the downs in the distance too.

We go to the Hummingbird Restaurant most weeks for lunch as the food is excellent and very good value for money. We are always greeted very warmly by Michael, Sandra, Carol and all the staff. The food is of excellent quality and arrives in good time. A lovely setting to sit and have lunch, especially on a nice day when there are planes to watch.

My sister and i had lunch here on a very wet miserable day. Our experience turned this into a day to remember. The meal was delicious and sensibly priced and the staff are lovely. After our lunch we looked around the beautiful art deco building and watched the light aircraft fly in and out. A perfectly relaxed experience. Highly recommend 👌

Great views of the operations area of the airport. Sevice was excellent and friendly. Quality of the food was first rate. Cannot be more highly recommended.

We were charmed by the Art Deco building, formerly the terminal of the historic Shoreham Airport, whose ground floor is partly occupied by The Hummingbird. The restaurant has a wonderful view; in the middle distance are the South Downs and the prominent pinnacles of Lancing College Chapel, while right in front of you are little planes landing and taking off. The restaurant is very busy and we had to wait for a few minutes to be seated. Service is quick and efficient. Food arrives promptly because most items on the menu derive from the freezer and the deep fryer. We both had scampi and chips with peas. Peas and chips were fairly tasteless and the scampi was faintly reminiscent of something fishlike. The whole experience was not unpleasant but unlikely to be repeated.

Such a shame you have to pay Poppay to park here as the food is faultless. Got a parking ticket cos I had a gap in the parking I paid for, £80 fine!! Beware the cameras. Won’t be going again!

Best place we’ve been for ages. Amidst a gorgeous art-deco setting … great food with a good range of veggie options. We had: ham, egg and chips; fish and chips; 5-bean chilli; and veggie quiche. All good size portions. Perfect chips - crisp on the outside and soft inside; several thick slices of tasty ham; lots of varied salad with the quiche; gently spicy chilli. First class service. Reasonably priced. Nice, properly hot coffee. Good disabled access - don’t believe the criticisms on euansguide.com. There are two ramps - one with a normal width auto door that’s fine for pedestrian access and an indoor wheelchair and leads into the airport building foyer; and a second ramp with a wide auto door that leads straight into the restaurant. The only thing I’d change is to offer full-fat milk with coffee, but that applies to most places, unfortunately. Full-fat milk is better for you and tastes better! Anyway, thank you to everyone at Hummingbird.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Our hostess, Debbie, arranged for me to get change for the parking machine then she made sure we had the drinks and meals we wanted and did everything she could to ensure we that had a pleasant visit.

What's not to love? Great food, great location, staff particularly Sandra were customer focussed, lovely to chat to but in doing so, did not detract from providing great service. Brought my Australian husband on two occasions and my elderly parents who live locally once. Disabled parking, toilets and staff assistance have made each trip with my parents ovee the years a good trip out.

Such a lovely restaurant with beautiful views across the airport to the Downs and Lancing Chapel. Excellent food and service well priced. Just take care with parking which isn’t so easy.

Excellent food, at a reasonable price. Also top-notch friendly service which above and beyond what you would expect. A special thank you too Sandra for looking after us.

Met up with my mum and grandad ( who has dementia) we got served quite quickly, but my mum’s sandwich turned up first, then about 5 minutes later a staff member gave out cream tea to another table, my grandad wondered where his food or drink was, the drinks order were messed up. But came eventually…. Still no scones….. so another 5 minutes maybe more and they did turn up after my mum had finished her plate of food! The food was lovely, they said they would give us free drinks to help the situation but when we paid they were charged ….. by that time we just had enough and left! The car park was also fun trying to get a ticket too……. So it was quite a stressful which should have been a wonderful experience!! We did have someone come to the table and said it was something to do with the payment card machine?!?! But not sure how it could be anything to do with orders going to the kitchen?

Took my 95 year old Dad here today for a cup of tea and to watch the planes. We were welcomed by the marvellous Debbie who made sure we could sit outside even with the wheelchair. She was really friendly and made a fuss of Dad. The service was very prompt and we will definitely be back. Hopefully to try lunch next time. Thank you

I was a bridesmaid at a small Covid-friendly wedding here in September and the food and service provided by The Hummingbird Restaurant was a real highlight! I know that the team went out of their way to help the bride and groom make the day as safe, personal and fun as possible for them and their guests. It had obviously been quite a stressful time for them but The Hummingbird pulled it off - amazing menu (wonderfully accommodating some strict dietary requests), generous portions done in a sophisticated way and all cooked to perfection!

Have visited the Hummingbird on several occasions and it is such a lovely place. The quality of food is always superb and they've a fantastic bar too. The best part for me has to be the beautiful views out over the little airfield and beyond to Lancing College. This beautiful space is perfect for those travelling from the airport, for passing cyclists or walkers passing through the airport or for anybody looking for a lovely meal with great views.Fingers crossed this venue can make it through these tricky times as it fully deserves to thrive!

I'm so impressed with the service and food I had here. They were outstanding with service, anticipating my needs before I'd even asked.They had 3 different types of dairy free milk and provided outstanding vegan options. The food was delicious and I felt completely safe eating here.One of the best places I have ever eaten at in terms of service.

My wife and I held our wedding reception here on 17th September 2020. We have long been coming to the Hummingbird for their amazing breakfasts especially. When our original wedding got postponed back in May, we discovered we could no longer use the original venue we were booked at, at all. When lockdown restrictions eased and we realised we would be able to get married this year, we instantly thought of the airport for a place to hold our reception and were so glad we did.Paul and his chef came up with a beautiful, varied menu at short notice. They were especially careful to cater for vegetarians, gluten free and also severe nut allergies. The service on the day was absolutely incredible, we couldn't rate it highly enough.Our whole wedding day was incredibly special, especially due to the circumstances. However, it wouldn't have been what it was if it hadn't been for the whole Hummingbird team. The food was incredible, the service amazing and the attention to detail perfect. All Covid-19 protocols were in place, but they still managed to make the evening feel intimate. I can't recommend Hummingbird enough for breakfast, lunch or an event. It's the best place in Shoreham to go to eat, and perhaps for many miles around. Here's hoping the Hummingbird is in Shoreham for years to come.

I attended a wedding at The Hummingbird and the food was fabulous. Not only that the staff were all really lovely and extremely helpful during a difficult time due to CV19. The backdrop of the downs whilst the sun was going down was fab! The food was so brilliant I returned for breakfast and it did not disappoint!! Would highly recommend

It was one year to the day we last went to the Hummingbird. The tables were well apart,in accordance with regulations. Breakfast was first class although I would have liked the bacon cooked slightly more. The waiters were excellent and attentive. Will not wait another year before going again.

Good food but expensive !! Always very crowded as people sit and watch the planes and sit longer than they need to hence always a wait normally!! And seagulls steal your food if you sit outside

We had an excellent lunch at the Hummingbird at Shoreham airport last week. The food was exceptionally tasty. I had the best macaroni cheese I have ever eaten! The others in our party also enjoyed their fish and chips. Our waiter was cheerful and efficient. It had a good vibe and atmosphere as it is situated right on the airside and you can watch the planes departing and taxiing in.It is a pity that our experience was marred by one member of your staff who is on your reception. We are fully aware that we are living in extraordinary times with Covid-19 and are very happy to provide our name and contact details. However, the aggressive manor in which this staff member interrogates people as they arrive about the NHS app and whether we are all from the same household is unpleasant. He may be doing his job and what is required, but he needs to change his tone when speaking to people or he risks losing this wonderful restaurant business.

Everything well put in place for safety, along with the NHS covid app venue check in. Staff very efficient and friendly and the food very good. The sandwiches we had: 1x Prawn and 1xCoronation Chicken were well filled, nice salad with dressing and an ample portion of kettle crisps. The staff were great and attentive. Highly recommend the venue.
