Came as an incoming aircraft and as near perfect as you can get. Decent landing and tie down pric on a tarmac runway with a great ATC. Excellent cafe and really friendly and helpful lady on reception. Tried 6 numbers for a taxi without success before the delightful Sally-Anne (sorry if spelling is wrong), who worked in the cafe (open 365 days a year virtually!), drove us to our pub in Presteigne and collected us in the morning insisting on no payment. Flew in the morning over the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons - great spot.

Totally unexpected venue which I was introduced to by friend who lives a few miles from the venue. First time I’ve walked past light aircraft to get to my table. Great atmosphere; a haunt of flyers, motor bikers and cyclists who clearly have a ‘nose’ for competitively priced and tasty food. Full breakfast was spot on which, rather greedily, we followed with a slice of cake. Not surprising that I didn’t eat again until the evening.

I lived in this barrack in 1949,which was obviously a lot different back then. My Dad was an RAF Corporal. My brother was born there in 1953. The memories I have are wonderful. At the back of us was Primrose wood. I can still see the yellow mass and the bluebells in the woods. A stream ran nearby and we had to cross it by stepping on a tree trunk. I can still see the cows who lived in the field. They'd be in our front garden every morning and I'd go and feed them. I loved the visits into the village to the grocery store which is a black and white building ,ran by the Boxes. If anyone has any memories or information from all those years ago,it would be wonderful to hear about them. We moved from there in 1955 to live my Grandmother in Kidderminster. The first time I revisited ,the barrack had been filled with straw. But its nice to know that so many people visit this place now. It holds a lot of happy memories for me.

Shobdon airfield is not to be missed, hidden away as it is in the depths of the Hereford countryside. It is not the faux imitation of a 1940s airfield but the real thing. Outside Meg's Nissen hut cafe which is every part the NAAFI down to the sticky patterned oilcloth table coverings. One can feel the ghosts of "Ginger" , "Bomber", "Nobby" and "Skp" lounging on the grass outside Meg's dragging on a "Wills whiff" about to be scrambled at any moment. The NAAFI girls seem rather disconsolate that all the young dashing bloods have been replaced by a Dads Army of aged pensioners with their flying machines, ordering the full English, but they willingly took our orders. The food was authentic too , other than they did not have microwaves in the 1940's. Food that did not encourage lingering over a long lunch like "Johnny foreigners " fare, but solid British "No nonsense" grub that should be shovelled down, eyes shut, as fast as possible in order to get back up there and engage Gerry. I am not sure if "we will meet again" but it was an experience. Great circular walk around Shobdon afterwards.

It's a no nonsense café with views over the airfield so you can enjoy lunches and teas whilst watching a variety of light aircraft come and go.The food is good plain café fare, well cooked, presented and reasonably priced. The 'comfort' facilities are no frills but quite acceptable. All in all It offers an inexpensive and fun way to pass an hour or so and is well worth a visit if you are in the area. Very poor..empty on arrival so no excuses really. 5 for breakfast..i chose the £6.50 option..v pricey but thought ok 3 other friends brought the slightly bigger breakfast at £7.50... and 1 brought a cheese toastie. Well 4 breakfasts came out and they are the smallest i have ever seen. 2 tablespoons of beans small fred egg..barely cooked tomatoe and a sausage and a slice of bacon i wouldnt give my dog . with a slice of cheap and nasty wite toast on the side. And it was luke warm at most the hotest thing was my tea. The £7.50 option was just as bad with a side order of mouldy brown bread which they did replace. The toastie and 3.50 was the nicest meal on the table. Will definetly not go back the fact the had a £9.50 breakfast aswell is a joke...they need to look at prices and portions and go to a good butchers.

! We dropped in for lunch on a sunny day that was sadly just a bit too chilly to sit outside in. Our lunch arrived promptly and was very nice, though I have to admit I was really put off by the interior of the cafe - it was like having lunch in a rather threadbare village hall. The charts on the tables and the walls were a nice touch, but the whole place felt run down and cheaply decorated, and a lot of the tables hadn't been wiped. I would have liked to have watched aircraft taking off and landing, but the windows are a bit high up for that (unless you're very tall, which I am admittedly not!).The food was good enough for me to return, though - just when it's warm enought to sit outside!

I've previously eaten at here when it was the aeroclub cafe, before it was rebranded and a new team put in place. Having stayed on the campsite overnight, I thought I'd pop in for breakfast and see how they were getting on. Most tables were nearly full, which surprised me because the cafe was empty when I'd walked past half an hour earlier!Given how busy it was I was expecting a bit of a wait, however after about 15 minutes the waitress came over to apologise profusely for the delay in serving, and seemed genuinely mortified that I was still waiting. Only a few minutes later, I was presented with a decent enough looking breakfast - and further apologies from the waitress! The breakfast was tasty and filling, with decent quality sausages and bacon. I liked the air charts underneath the glass table top. They had a selection of very appetising looking cakes which I managed to resist. On the down side, I was disappointed they wanted an extra 20p to swap my tea for a green tea (given the difference in cost to them is about a penny). I would have preferred a grill tomato to tinned, but I didn't ask for it so I won't mark them down - I'll see if they'll do me a grilled tomato when I return, as I undoubtably will!

One of the best warm sausage rolls I have ever had! And I can make excellent sausage rolls. Lovely display of pies and pastries, friendly staff, seating outside. I am a visitor to Hereford and wished I lived closer. Excellent!
