Good honest food at a reasonable price. Clean. Dog friendly with nice staff. A gem from the past. Happy to return. Whilst the menu is limited, it tastes good. But can cater to all.

Came here today, Sunday 28th July at 2:30pm Rude staff bluntly told us sandwiches only. After scanning the basic sandwich menu, we decided to order a couple of sandwiches. Upon going to the counter, I asked if they serve baguettes or just sandwiches. I was bluntly told “NO”. I went on to ask for a tuna mayo sandwich to then be bluntly and rudely told no! We’ve not serving now but, you can have a cake? Staff need a lesson in customer service. If you’re advertising hours in your menu and doors/windows, stick to them.

Was aware that this place existed, so on impulse went in. The place exceeded all expectations - clean - quiet - extensive menu - super food - well laid out with good decor. WHAT A FIND!! Will now be a regular customer. My compliments to the staff (and the chef) This recommendation is well deserved. Thankyou to all at the Cafe

Been meaning to have a breakfast at this cafe for a while, as we come to severn beach to walk. Wasn't disappointed, we only had the standard breakfast, which was enough before a walk, and it was delicious, and hot, and as a bonus, they know how to make tea. I am sure the rest of the menu will be the same quality, so well done to the staff, we shall be back. For other people who walk, the footpath is open now all the way to Aust, it's a lovely place to go

We arrived at the cafe at 14.30 about 30 minutes before they stopped cooking meals. My wife and I both ordered Ham, Egg and chips and it was delicious. The ham was lean and looked like it had just been sliced, the chips were real not the frozen crap that most places use and the fried egg was done to perfection. Everything was clean and the staff were friendly. We will definitely call there again when I am in the area.

We stopped off for something to eat at about 1 pm during a bike ride on Saturday. It was busy with every table taken and were preparing to sit outside. Whilst we were ordering food someone left so we had an inside table. We were told when we ordered that cooked food would take about 20 minutes so we ate 'backwards'. I had a lovely Victoria sponge and tea, my partner had a vegan chocolate cake which was very moist and coffee. We ate these whilst our meals were being cooked. I had a breakfast, which was nice and my partner had a very large four bean chilli and rice which she enjoyed. The toilets, which looked like a glamping shed were very clean and well maintained.

My fantastic Wife and I were on an overnight stay near Severn Beach. We were meeting her son who had travelled from Cardiff to meet us for a morning meet up. We all wanted to have a breakfast at a doggie friendly place. My Wife especially likes independent, fun looking places. Shirley's cafe was perfect! Clean and hygienic. Wide variety of options. Had terrific retro feel with pin ball machine and a beautiful Seeburg juke box! Food was served by friendly staff. Had loads of baked goods and sweets. We had breakfast with toast and hash browns. Represents excellent value for money and has a section for eating outside, part of which is covered. Liked that they have a book sale to raise money for Air Ambulance service. Final nice touch was a loo that is a pod.

We discovered Shirley’s Café when we moved to Pilning two years ago. We’ve found a few great walks to Severn Beach from our little village (about 2 miles away) and to have a full meal, or a breakfast/brunch, or just delicious coffee, is the icing on the cake after our walk. The staff are lovely and the food is delicious, as are their hot & cold drinks. There is doggie ice cream for sale and they are welcome inside the café too. Their garden is really lovely & welcoming and on a nice dry day, even in the spring, autum or winter, it gives you a feeling of well-being. We love to sit & just “people watch” or chat to others who know that Shirley’s is a cafe not to be missed. Try it - you won’t be disappointed. BUT - sadly, it’s not open on Monday or Tuesday. I guess the hardworking staff need a couple of days off twice a week!!

I had read the rave reviews for Shirley's Cage and thought it must be worth a visit but I'm puzzled. The furniture is of the sort that you can't throw around - benches and tables welded together which doesn't make for comfort. I had their 'home-made' cottage pie. I think 'home assembled might' be more accurate from the unmistakable 'catering gravy' taste. It was not nice, but then others in the party had better luck with (processed) ham and eggs. I had been hoping for a much more but it is very ordinary.

Severn Beach might seem like a bit of a strange place, and it's definately one that feels a bit overwhelmed by both its natural and man-made surroundings (the now apparently 'Prince Of Wales' bridge aka Second Severn Crossing and the Channel itself) but the fact mass tourism died a death about 70 years ago mean you get a great place to go for any number of interesting walks all to yourself, and without a pay-and-display machine in sight.

Lovely little tucked away café, which provided sustenance at the start of our 9-mile walk from Severn Beach to Bristol on Sunday. Three full English breakfasts were consumed by our small group (with one of them a veggie alternative) and all cooked to perfection. Variation to the set menu was permitted and the food was completely devoid of any signs of the grease, which is always a danger with this sort of fare. Prices were reasonable and all three of us agreed that this was as good as it gets.
