We just found this place by chance, looking for somewhere to eat near the cinema, and we are so glad we did. The food is freshly cooked and absolutely gorgeous, we were so impressed we went back again the next day. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Give it a try

We have been before and did enjoy the food but not this time . The chips were frozen but stated on menu as homemade. The portion sizes so small I ordered exactly the same meal as I had last time the portion was almost half the size and if something changes on menu you should pass that on to the customer. I left still hungry and very disappointed as this was a treat . Also when serving deserts gloves should be worn or serving spoons witnessed the waitress putting her hands in the jars to get the chocolate balls out for the ice cream so passed on deserts

Our first visit to meet up with family. Friendly welcome on arrival. Excellent service throughout. Everyone enjoyed a variety of food from the menu. Definitely recommend.

Sadly disappointed, we rang ahead and asked re food and if it was dog friendly and yes was the given answer, great we thought as the pictures looked good and most of the reviews were good, but unfortunately it was not as we expected, the whole place needs a good clean as the carpets are grubby, the menu’s were sticky, but a local couple we were chatting to said the food is amazing so we thought we’d stay - sadly we were so disappointed we both had fish and chips the oil definitely needs changing and the chips well the few we got were ok! We were really disappointed sorry guys

What a Gem this family run pub is !!! Ideal for couples & families, dogs welcome to . Such a warm friendly welcome at the bar swift service my, self and partner on our 1st visit had lunch . There is an extensive menu and specials board which has a very good selection. Also note they cater for gluten free I.e my partner had the roast of the day roast pork and didn't miss out on the Yorkshire puddings as they were gluten free and Gravy to . I had home made meat and potato pie mushy peas and mash ......you can have different options like chips. There is table service which is always a bonus!! We didn't wait long for our meals to arrive and WOW the portion sizes will fill the biggest of apatite. The meals were piping hot just how we like them . The service was 1st class, nothing was to much trouble. There is a lovely atmosphere in the pub with banter and regulers making you feel so welcome, something I find is hard to find these days with the culture of big brewery fast places ect . We enjoyed our self's so much we will be returning very soon and on a regular basis , as the pub has different themes on not just food they have a Bingo night ect .

We visited the shire oaks inn on the Saturday just for a quick drink. Whilst there we booked for Sunday lunch and asked for the dining room. On arrival our table was ready and we seated promptly on a table for 2. We ordered the regular Sunday lunch. I chose the pork and my husband the Turkey. Both were served hot and with veg, roast and mashed potatoes and one stuffing ball. The gravy was thick and plentiful however I would prefer it to be served in a gravy boat as I prefer to put my own gravy on my meal. For me what let it down was the Yorkshire pudding. It was a pre frozen one and not home made which was a shame as this would have elevated the whole meal. For dessert we both had the crumble and custard. It was hot and delicious and packed with fruit. There was soft music in the background and lots of people chilling and chatting which made the experience a positive one. We have booked again for next Sunday. This time we are taking our friends.

Great service. Friendly atmosphere. There are many options on the menu, including a few vegan options, which is great. The vegan shepherds pie is very very good.

We had a surprise 80th Birthday celebration for my father-in-law. The buffet was amazing, the venue was ideal for our 60 guests and the staff were more than brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and each member of staff went the extra mile to make the evening absolutely brilliant. Karen and Luke made everyone feel special, thanks so much guys.

We have been many times and have been highly delighted. It saddens me to write this poor review. I had a steak and it was disgusting. I have had steaks there many times before and they were fine, however, this time, whilst it looked good was totally riddled with grissle and sinue. It could not be cut and chewed. I tried the best I could but had to gave up. My wife's meal (not a steak) was fine. I told the waitress about mine and she simple said I must have got a fatty piece and took it away - no apology, hence my poor review.

Booked a table for a small group of us to celebrate a new job. Had a quick drink from the bar then into the dining room. We all enjoyed our meals. Good, traditional pub food, decent portions. Will definitely be back.

What a wonderful experience. Had an excellent meal here. Lovely atmosphere, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, especially Zac who was just such an amazing host and really looked after us. We had been traveling around the country for about two weeks but this was by far the best experience we had in all that time. The food was exceptional and very good value for money. Just a lovely all round experience.

We visited this little gem last night 6th may to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday . From start to finish they looked after us . Customer service and friendliness at its finest. Food, well what can i say ? Its beautiful from starters to the puddings they have everything you cpuld want but please note the whopper burger is not for the faint hearted with its generous portion! But delicious . Make sure you leave room for dessert lots of choices i for one had cheesecake and it was devine! We will certainly be bavk! With a special thanks to Karen and zack who looked after us and made my daughters 18th extra special ! If you havent already visited be sure you do .

We visited the pub this lunchtime, there were 14 in our party....the food, service and drinks were exceptional. Would highly recommend it.

Not very clean at all. Entrance had boxes and packages piled up and disability toilet littered with brooms, brushes and mop cleaning stuff, plus rug cleaning machine and hoovers. Resaurant - tables vey sticky and just wiped over not cleaned properly many still with debris...

Not only phenomenal fish & chips and friendly staff, but occasionally home made pie. Was lucky enough to visit when they had the Pie and was hands down THE best pie ever had from a chip shop well worth checking out when in the area

Despite getting a table and a menu it was over35 minutes before the waitress bothered to ask if I wanted to order. By then I could not be bothered and went for a curry (service at sappfron was excellent).

We recently found the Shireoaks inn in December 2021. We’ve been back now 4 times. Excellent service, excellent food, great atmosphere. Gluten free options are excellent too. We love going here, highly recommend.

Gone down hill since the pandemic.We went for a Sunday roast and the turkey was fatty and the stuffing was very stodgy and dry. Before the pandemic they did the best Sunday roast in worksop, but this is no longer the case.The desserts were worse. The cheesecake was warm and soft and tastes as though it had been defrosted and left on the side for too long. Feedback on the other deserts was the same.It’s such a same as it a nice local pub but the food has unfortunately gone downhill

I went to this pub because of the good reviews on Trip Advisor, and it was excellent. The food was great, home-made and really tasty. The real ale was from Welbeck Brewery and was fantastic - well-kept, fresh and tasted great. The children and dog were made welcome, and the locals were friendly. I would definitely go again.

We went to this dog friendly pub for Sunday lunch. Really nice service and a warm welcome. There was a good selection of real ales and reasonably priced. We had a Sunday lunch and a pie, followed by deserts. The food was lovely. They even brought a bowl of water for the little dog. We would defiantly recommend and will return in the future.

The Shireoaks is a great place to Eat, drink and mingle. Andy and the staff have it bang on the button with a warn welcome, friendliness and humour.Its comfortable and clean, prices are spot on and the food is excellentThis is fast becoming one of my favourites, for all the above.. and some!

Nearly 40 of us were booked in for a 3 course lunch. We were all accommodated in the main dining room. Staff were very nice and efficient. Service was very good and the meals were all very good. An enjoyable lunch

Having returned at short notice for a meal for two, they were able to provide a table for us in the main restaurant area. Glad they did as we were able to enjoy our usual meal of lamb, etc. followed by a delightful dessert.

Booked for our Christmas meal with work colleagues for Friday just gone. Although there were almost thirty of us each course was delivered to our tables perfectly presented and every meal was excellent everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The staff are extremely polite and nothing was too much trouble . A big thank you to Andrew for making our evening really enjoyable I will certainly recommend to others.

Just been to a delicious Sunday lunch at this excellent pub that was great value being 2 courses for £10.50Plenty of meat on plated up lunch with fresh veg, mash, roasties , Yorkshire pud and stuffing. I had turkey and fam had beef and lamb. All well received and tasty. Busy, so best to book first

7 in our group for a birthday get-together. Was seated at our table straight away, 20 minutes later after i had to ask for menus. Our order was taken and 50 minites later we got our food. Good job it was nice even though the portions seem to have shrunk. Our desserts were delivered in stages as some of our party had finished theres before others had got theres. This has happened the last 2 times, so think we will be going elsewhere.Just to add staff seemed to hang around food hatch rather than serve.

Having promised ourselves to make a return after enjoying a previous meal here, we arrived shortly after mid-day on Sunday and found things were already buzzing with plenty of the regulars present but were able to place our request for two different carveries - which soon arrived with a good selection of nicely cooked vegetables. The quantity was certainly sufficient and very satisfactory; however space was still found to also consume two different desserts. Overall it was a very satisfactory meal with pleasant service, enjoyed amongst the happy local chatter !

Very nice place, good simple menu, proper chips too! Food served freshly cooked by pleasant staff. Staff need to be a bit tidier in their work at the serving hatch as it can give a poor impression. Would certainly return.

This busy pub/restaurant has had a mini facelift on the paint and decor. They have increased the prices by £1-2 per dish , but the quality and quantity of their signature fish n chips has gone down. What a shame.

Went to the Shireoaks on recommendation. One lady who was servicing us was very polite and friendly. I was bitterly disappointed with the food. Mushroom stroganoff was like mushrooms with water and lacked flavour. I was very surprised with the cost of the food also with a meal and drinks for 4 coming to over £70.

Visited with family for teatime meal. Excellent value meals with large portions. Mainly homemade and tasty. Good menu selection with 5-6 specials on the board too.

Small friendly pub and ok food. Was put in the dining room which lacked atmosphere as we were only people in there but it was the opposite in the bar area which was cosy, cheerful and comfortable. When asked if there was any venison pie left, the waitress said she would check and I joked that she had “ no idea (deer) then” ? She was not amused- oh hum

We had not been to the Shireoaks Inn for a while but decided to go there on Sunday 03/02/19 for Sunday Lunch and i can honestly say it was superb,the food was perfect with nice fluffy mashed potatoes,lots of perfectly cut meat,i had Lamb my wife had Beef and both were done perfect.The vegetables were cooked perfect so were the roast potatoes and the Yorkshire puddings,the gravy was just great and so had a superb dinner,we also had a sweet and i had a Malteser Sunday and my wife had a Raspberry cheesecake both perfect.Service was great they do not hurry you and are so very polite and we will definately be going again.Price £10-50 for two course meal Brilliant.

Booked a lunch party for 30 guests to celebrate a specicial birthday. Room well prepared and tables attractively set. 3 course lunch was excellent and staff were attentive and helpful.There were 6 children in the group and they were well catered for.

Dined here whist visiting Worksop on business and I must say I was very happy with my meal. I couldn't really decide from the excellent choice's on the menu but settled for the sharing platter as a main course and I can honestly say I was not dissappointed. If in Worksop visit the Shireoaks.

G8 food and very reasonably priced. Visited Worksop several times before and wish we'd found it sooner. It's everything you want from a traditional pub, nice landlord & landlady, nice bar and lounge with a separate eating area should you want. Will definitely come again.

A traditional work hard to keep going in a tough economic climate with a good selection of ales , large dinning area and some good service. We attended as a large party which is always challenging , the wait time was a bit longer than I would have liked but the service was good , our expectations managed and we had a great time. Its not the Ritz but it is good value , decent food with some good honest service

We've visited before and left great reviews as this place consistently delivers great food and service. However, on this occasion we visited for a Sunday lunch. The menu states that there is a vegetarian alternative but when we asked this was just 'a plate of potatoes and veg' which I would hardly call a vegetarian option (especially when it's the same price for half the meal). There were vegetarian options on the menu which were satisfactory but it somewhat missed the point of why we actually visited. In addition, the dessert menu has no indication as to which desserts are vegetarian (they often contain elements of animal origin such as gelatin, so it's not usually safe to assume which options are suitable for vegetarians). We could only go on the best guess of staff who weren't totally sure (and then went on to forget one of the desserts we had ordered entirely).

When in the area always try to visit for a enjoyable cheap meal , cheap in price not in value.

I came here with my son who is one and has several allergies one of them being a dairy allergy. I asked the manager if the veg had butter and he said yes to which I asked if it was possible if I could have a portion with no butter , his initial response was no but seeing my face he said I'll ask the chef. He then shouted across the pub to me that "I'm not running a health farm here". I found this very rude and disheartening. Having allergies is hard enough without peoples ignorance and rudeness towards it. He belittled me in front of other guests. I will not be returning here again neither will family and friends

I went last Saturday with my family. when my daughter asked if she could have a portion of vegetables for my one year old grandson who has allergies.and she didn't want it done in butter as some places do. The managers reply was he didn't know so she asked if he could find out.too this he walked across the pub and shouted to my daughter. we don't run a health farm! how rude and insensitive could you get safe too say we will not be going there again and neither will my friends and family. he should be ashamed of himself .....

This is where I go when when I want a hearty,no frills,large portion dinner. Surroundings are getting tired but the food more than makes up for it

Passed The Shireoaks Inn one evening on our way home from Savoy Cinema - was quaintly lit up and decided we would give it a try when we could. Have to say that we were very pleasantly surprised - lovely place, and the food delicious. I had the chicken in creamy mushroom sauce and my partner had salmon from the menu, but there is also a good selection on the specials board. Staff were welcoming, helpful and polite. The bar area seemed quite full for early Thursday evening so clearly word is getting round about how good The Shireoaks Inn is. A final note - if you need to use the toilets they look brand new (and might be!) spotlessly clean with chrome fittings etc. - very nice !! Would highly recommend and we will definitely be returning.

Fuimos con una gran fiesta familiar desde niños a gran abuelos. La comida era mediocre, verduras cocidas, sabes el simulacro. Todos salsa era el mismo, no importa lo que comimos. Combustible, eso es todo. Más fácil que cocinar en casa por un grupo grande.

Attended the 60/70s night. The staff were friendly, good choice of drinks, excellent DJ and a real party atmosphere. Pie and pies served was tasty. Looking forward to the next event

Found this Old pub "The Shireoaks Inn" and was well pleased we called in. Their Full Rack of Pork ribs was amazing, there was so much meet on them I could not finish them This has never happened before. Our lass had Chicken with mushrooms in a creamy sauce. She said hers was beautiful and we're definately going back. Great small pub, friendly staff. well worth calling in and trying their food.

If you are ever in Worksop whether for business or pleasure don't miss the chance for great food at a friendly pub. We were there on Saturday for a mini break and once again called at the Shireoaks on Westgate. Had meat and potato pie which was delicious, not only did it taste good it was great value for money. Apart from brilliant food the staff and the customers were great too. We only go about twice a year would not dream of eating in any other pub. Thank you for great meal nd good company.MARY

Decent array of beverages, good selection of real ales (at least three on tap). Highly recommend the beer from Welbeck Brewery. Also have kilner jars of the ale so you can see the colour etc. which is a nice idea. Friendly.

went to the shireoaks for work event. the main course was beautiful couldnt fault it at all however the starter and pudding wasnt as great but my husband really enjoyed his pudding so must of been a bad choice on my part i will go with same choice as him next time. wasnt much room to move about and dance due to being alot of people in quite a small space. staff were fantastic everyone of them from bar staff to waiting staff all brilliant. would definately go back again for a meal.

Went out with a group of girls monday we were going to another place but only to find it closed so we had a wander n discovered this place by accident glad we did the staff were very welcoming varied menu choices reasonably priced food was fab i had rack of ribs and it was great would deffinately revisit.

Had a meeting and missed the usual Sunday deadline for a meal. The Inn was serving till 7 pm and so I sat for a mixed grill which was cooked to the way I had asked for. Service with a smile in ambient surroundings what more could you ask for

sunday lunch - we couldn't cut the beef, yorkshire puddings were "soggy" roast potatoes were pale and the cabbage was bland. Gravy should be optional but dinners came with thick gravy poured over all the food. very disappointed as took family for a birthday treat.

Have moved to live nearby a few years ago, I have always meant to visit this pub but have failed to do so - finally made it today !Was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness shown by the staff and the quality of the carvery meal; which was followed by a very enjoyable dessert !We certainly plan to add it to our list of 'regulars' and hope to return very soon.

Dropped in with family one evening mid-week. With the timing of our visit it was rather quiet in the resaurant-side so there wasn't much of an atmosphere. However, when you consider the brilliant, freshly cooked and friendly staff it hardly mattered. Overall a great visit.

Visited for Tapas night - first impressions good, I remember the Shireoaks as a cosy pub but the tables were properly dressed and it looked really good. Table was ready with marinated olives, bread slices, olive oil, smoky almonds and easily the nicest balsamic vinegar we have had, which was a lovely touch and its always good to have an appetiser. My mum shared paella and garlic bread with my son, she really enjoyed it, my son didn't but he's an awkward boy sometimes so that's no reflection on the food :) The owner had agreed to do some vegan options for my friend and I, and I was pleased by the variety. Veggie sausages you can't go wrong with. The peppers stuffed with veggie rice needed more seasoning but we enjoyed them. The roasted veggies were tasty and the one dish we had never heard of before was actually our favourite, cauliflower baked with tahini. We also tried the herby breaded aubergine from the main tapas menu, I loved it but it wasn't to my friends taste. Pretty sure we managed more than our five a day with this offering!Service was good. As we were the first ones there the waiting staff were still getting organised but we were seated promptly, and had the menu explained to us. Regular check backs to see if we needed drinks and if everything was okay. The young ladies serving us were polite, pleasant, and unobtrusive.Overall a good visit, and I'd like to thank Karen for accommodating us. Definitely going to visit again for dinner.

Visited for tea today, I had prawn salad and jacket potato, pretty standard but palatable. My husband ordered gammon egg and chips, it arrived swimming in a pool of fat and the chips tasted of pure greasy fat. I informed the barman who said I'll inform the chef and then said would you like a desert....no sorry or anything.....he didn't tell the chef either as he dumped our plates in the kitchen and came back within seconds. The staff didn't crack a smile at all, when we asked to eat they showed us to a table, removed the tablecloth and gave us a menu then proceeded to dress every other table around us nicely.....seemed a little rude??? I wouldn't return!!

Have been coming to this pub for many years and it never disappoints. Great home cooked food, good choice of drinks including real ales and very friendly staff. The owners Andrew and Karen run an excellent pub and are highly recommended.

Lovely meal myself and my friends had. They had the 2 steaks for £14 a bargain for what they got on there plate. I went with the shireoaks whopper! It was amazing it beat me I had to leave a bit of salad. Would recommend if your in and around to pop in and have lunch/dinner. Only downside to the pub is it not actually having a car park If there is nowhere to park up next to the pub you do have to then pay and display.

This is one of the best pubs in worksop. There is nearly always three real ales on the pumps and the beer is kept properly. The real ales constantly change so you can try something new most visits. I have been going here for over 6 years now and never had a bad pint. Staff are friendly.
