The food here is amazing and the people those who are giving service are so cordial and lovely. I got the chance to meet sonali and sohel , these people are so friendly and their service was really good.

Visited here last night with a group of 11, I ordered the trio of Lahore special starter...there was nothing special about it! Had 3 small pieces of food and it wasn't that good. Definitely not worth £8.95 for 3 bites, also you had to order a minimum of 2 which didn't make any sense considering the small plate that it was. Moving onto the mains, I got the Goa chicken, this was nice and tasted good. The pilau rice was aromatic and tasty. The naan bread was dry and not that great. The service was bad, they left bottles of drinks on the table all night, there were plates from the starters that were left on the table as well. Overall, decent food, but I wouldn't go again, there are better Indian restaurants out there.

I recently dined at a wonderful restaurant where I was met with exceptional service from waiters Aishwarya and Jyothi. Their attentiveness and professionalism enhanced my dining experience. The food was beyond amazing, especially the garlic naan and Shimla mirch paneer. The flavors were rich and authentic, leaving me completely satisfied. Four of our party of eight have been ill with suspected food poisoning and we have reported it. Service was rubbish, took over an hour to get starters and then the mains came out before we'd finished them.

Finally found the perfect authentic indian cuisine in oxford. With friendly staff and the home-like atmosphere just makes it perfect making the experience very personal. The food just tastes like home the spices the flavours the presentation just spot on! If your looking for great indian food Shezan is just what you need. Recommended to everyonee!

Very cold room, salty food. Saag had absolutely no liquid waiter tried to tell me he was Asian and knew best. I explained I cooked curries at home and our friends are Asian that was the worst chicken saag my husband had ever. I had a paneer dish when I asked if he could add spinach he said no. That rang alarm bells as I have never been told no before. It tasted more Chinese and was salty. Do not go here not a good experience oh to top it off we had a poppadum with a hair on it.

The friendliest staff with a near to authentic taste of the Indian cuisines. I personally recommend their ‘chicken makhanwala’ for the first timers as it is hands down the best in Oxford.

Today evening as an occasion to celebrate my birthday I had visited this restaurant, we did order some food and the food quality has been extremely good, living up to the mark. But due to the staff on the floor we haven’t enjoyed our evening throughly. The waiter who catered to us was very rude, there was no check back on the table and when I called her over to clear the plates as we wanted to order desserts, she directly handed us the bill and left. Came back with a machine without asking if we need anything else, which is why we did drop the idea of dessert and decided to pay. When asked about service charge she said it is compulsory and I cannot opt out, but personally I was not at all happy and was not willing to pay the service charge. Even during payment due to network issues when payment did not go through at first she got annoyed and started making faces as if we were wasting her time. Would not recommend this restaurant also won’t return due to rude waitress.

The best Indian food I have ever had. Service was compromised by the amount of large party bookings, also the atmosphere suffered because of this.But do not be put off by this ,you will miss out on the most excellent Indian food I have ever had 👍.

Actually I am feeling very hard to give 1 star because it is such a worst experience and the food tastes as bad as it is. The only good thing is tap water nothing else. This place is so good. I have the lamb Biryani. It’s the best I’ve ever had. Price perhaps on the higher side but the food is very much worth it. Whenever I go there are already quite a few people in there which speaks for itself.

Very small menu which makes the bland food even less excusable. Service was bad and it was very expensive. The cheek of adding in a service charge without asking after the worst Indian meal I've had is what led me to write a review.

Nice Indian Daal Tarka and Garlic Naan - Wonderful

Our group of 4 enjoyed a wonderful evening dining here on a recent Saturday. This restaurant is quite popular so I recommend booking a reservation. The food was EXCELLENT. Our group had a variety of lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes, along with samosas & pakora. All dishes were delicious. I was uncertain so asked the server for a non-spicy recommendation…the shahazani korma was outstanding. I only wish I had left room for desert.

The food was delicious. We ordered apps, four mains, and naan; they were all fantastic.

Finding the restaurant on the first floor was a pleasure being greeted by a smiling server. The service was quick and efficient and carried with a smile. I had the paneer tikka . It was wonderful, fresh ingredients cooked with the spices that brought out the best of the ingredients. My wife's vegetable biryani was wonderfully spicy. We will return next time we are in Oxford

Found Shezan prior to a visit to the Sheldonian. A wonderful way to start the evening - the food was outstanding & a very different menu. Very helpful & friendly staff who were great in advising on the choice of food. The most flavoursome & tasty Rogan I have ever eaten. Thank you.

Good service by Ashwariya, very kind and recommended good dishes. The Biryani dish and mango lassi drink were too good.

Food was good, but the "salty lassi" was way too expensive for a salt-less yoghurt water. Service was a bit slow, but I wasn't in a rush.

I’ve only had American Indian food before and wanted to try some in the UK for my first visit. I was slightly disappointed that they didn’t have Tikka Masala but they had a very similar dish and everything was delicious. Portions smaller than what I’m used to, but I actually preferred that because you could try more dishes. The garlic Naan was delicious as well and the service and atmosphere were very nice.

Very nice place inside an old building in the historic center of oxford. very simple and minimalist in furnishing but very welcoming. Very kind and nice staff. Delicious food, an explosion of flavors, spices and colors. Definitely going back!

Visiting from the U.S. and the food here was exquisite. The sauce is to die for and the chicken is so fresh. The naan was amazing both the butter and garlic and the service was so kind, quick and accommodating. 10/10 would recommend and the cost was very in budget and affordable. Don’t miss out on this gem.

When so much of Oxford dining consists of rude staff, mediocre foods, early closing times, etc, this place is a welcome haven of good food, very nice staff, open late. Reasonable (of Oxford) prices.

Very nice indian with great value for money. Friendly and efficient service too. Dishes were tasty and authentic, spice level was appropriate and the meats were nice and tender. I often eat out at indian restaurants all over England and strongly recommend it.

Lamb biriyani was good. The butter chicken was tooo different doesn't taste like butter chicken, flavored coconut milk & tumeric too high.

Good flavours but very expensive for the portion size. Also for some reason very oily curries.

A really enjoyable evening spent at this establishment. The menu did not have all the usual standard dishes that one sees at an Indian restaurant which was a pleasant surprise. We did wait for a while, but the wait was definitely worth the it. I had a lamb dish with lentils and ginger. This was absolutely delicious! The meat was tender, and the heat in the sauce had just enough to make its presence known. The people who served us were very gracious, and it was appreciated that the music was played quietly in the background. Time flew. We all had such a good time. A great time out, and a brilliant start to the weekend.

I’m not really sure on how his restaurant is functioning. The food we ordered was definitely the worst tasting food I’ve ever had. We ordered the seekh kabab which tasted awful and the Chicken Mughlai which was subpar. The food was absolutely tasteless. Would definitely never recommend this place to anyone and also items are ridiculously pricey. Definitely not worth the price. The only good part was the service. Waiters were friendly.

Best Bangladeshi/Indian food in Oxford! The head chef was Bangladeshi and I was reminded what it used to be like back home! great cooking , good portions, friendly staffs, cozy atmosphere. Mughlai Biriyani, Lamb Biriyani, chicken tikka all top notch.

Go there. Just go. It's right on High Street, elegantly furnished and intimate. I'm sure it was the best meal I've ever experienced. A friendly gentleman explained the origin of the cuisine and took our order. Later, I learned he's the owner, so welcoming and gracious. The servers also were polite, friendly, and attentive. A juicy, heartbreaking Chicken Tikka starter set the mood for the seduction that followed, something called Mughlai Gosht Chicken. My goodness. If I could have married that House Specialty, I would have. Instead, I devoured it.

Good tasty food, although surprisingly not a Madras on the menu! Staff friendly and service was okay. Little disappointed to see a 10% service charge added to the bill. Surely this is at the customer’s discretion!

Setting is nice, the 2 people waiting on us were friendly and helpful. I thought Mom was cooking in the kitchen the food was so good. My only disappointment was not having a place to take home my leftovers. Highly recommended and I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world.

Don't ever eat here. I never do reviews but this was the worst curry I've ever had. This restaurant changed hands in 2021, and its a different place. The service is non existent, basic things on the menu were unavailable, the food was so oily it made me ill. Over half the food we didnt eat, it was disgusting. It was extremely expensive too. £140 for 4 people. When we reduced the bill by 40, they didnt even quibble. This restaurant was empty at 7.30pm on a Friday evening, says it all. Other Indian restaurants we tried were fully booked until 9pm. Check out recent reviews on Trip Advisor. We chose this restaurant based on Google reviews, so adding a review to save others!

Walked in, on a Friday night, totally empty. Should have known from the start… docile, poor service, many menu choices unavailable. Food arrived, was poorly presented, hideously greasy food. Actually the worst Indian food I’ve ever had, regretfully cannot recommended. Eurgh!

This is the worst Indian meal I’ve ever had. Service is shockingly bad, waited handles food with his own hands, uses his fingers to hand over a spoon by the part that goes into your mouth. Oil served with oil, outrageously expensive cheap frozen microwaved food. A Whacking £187 bill for 4 people.Visited on a Friday evening and we were the only table in there- no wonder.

After a number of years working and living away, myself and my family visited Oxford and I was excited to show them where I lived and how good the city was. After some beautiful walks in the University grounds and along the River, despite the bad weather we loved our day. So, by night I told them we must go to the best Indian restaurant ever. We found that had changed it's name to the Shezan. We booked early at 5:30 pm as we were all starving. Then we arrived and the doors were closed, so after 10 minutes standing outside the neighbor opened the door. We went upstairs to a cold empty restaurant and was shown to our table. We ordered and I can say clearly this was the worst Indian meal I've ever tasted, all my family were so disappointed. Clearly the meal was mostly micro waved and the flavors were not there. We paid a massive £175.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids and it was just rubbish. Stay clear of this rip off and go further into town to find your true traditional Indian food. Shame on the new owners as things will never be the same.
