4500 Miles From Delhi in Oxford

A party of 8 of us visited this restaurant it was pre booked The service was nothing other than diabolical. Our mains took about an hour to come and even then it come in dribs and draps. One of our dishes come near the end of our meal We asked for water about 4 times. A real struggle. The waiters just fobbed us to each other I understand it was busy. But can’t be that busy that we where neglected We asked for desserts and where told that they where to busy to serve deserts. When we spoke to the manager he agreed to serve us deserts but it will take about 10-15 minutes. We said no problem. Half an hour later nothing not even an acknowledgement. We asked for tea and coffee not nothing as once again they where to busy. A terrible experience. To put it politely

This is a really good Indian restaurant. The food is not your standard Indian restaurant stuff, it's definitely better. The service is good, and it's a huge place with lots of tables. It's surprisingly inconspicuous. I must have walked past it hundreds of times without noticing it. It's on my usual walking route into the city centre, and it's been open 17 years, but I only realised last week that I've walking past an Indian restaurant. It doesn't help that its sign "4500 miles from Delhi" is in a hard-to-read font with a Chinese appearance.

This curry was amazing!! The taste was first class, chicken tikka massala a must. Garlic naan and mushroom piau rice was full of flavour. We visited on our stay to Oxford and would recommend.

Booked a Groupon voucher for lunch for two. On arriving at the restaurant was told they no longer had a contract with Groupon and weren’t honouring the deal. Dreadful, unprofessional attitude.

Wide range of dishes, and each appears individually prepared. Mouth was dancing at the end of the meal. Only niggle was the portions were on the small size and took too long between courses. Would highly recommend though.

Again you never fail to pull amazing food out of the bag. Second time I have been and the both times were amazing. The five jewels curry was full of flavour. Absolutely beautiful. And my meal the chicken chasandri was amazing to. The garlic and coriander naan bread was to die for. The service was top notch. Couldn't fault it.

The world of Indian cuisine is as vast as it is colorful, certainly the boundaries of India have not stopped in the last 100 years bringing those spices to our shores with excellence for our palette. A visit to 4500 Miles in Oxford will not disappoint, from the moment you enter you are greeted with the level of warmth you would associate with Indian family, a warm handshake, pleasing words and that aroma in the air, it's the perfect start. The restaurant is spacious with enough room for parties as well as couples dining, the décor is sharp yet visually pleasing with table layout to match, all beautifully clean too. Service is on form, the welcome drink and a order of papadums is the perfect accompaniment while you peruse the menu which is well laid out and easy to read. Regardless of the size of party the food is always amazing, it may take a little longer to prepare than other places but then everything is made from scratch and is well worth the wait, when it arrives it's like a festival of smells, sounds and a anticipation of excellence, which is always is. 4500 Miles stands alone in it's standards from the welcome to the goodbye, it's so close to perfection that I cannot for the life of me imagine anywhere else being this good. The staff, the food, the look all combine to create a journey, a culinary journey to which you will return time and time again.

Really good food and very nice service. Everyone was very nice and stopped to chat with us. Indian food reviews are often way off base but this time they were correct. We loved everything we ordered.

Very nice staff, very welcoming also to our teens. Truly lovely food. Girls had butter chicken which was lovely and creemy but still had a nice bit to it. Hubby had a fab chicken chili dish and my biryani was sumptuous and a very generous portion with a lot of lamb in it. Can recommend!

Booked for lunch via Groupon with a Voucher but when arrived at the restaurant after travelling over 20 miles was told no longer accepting Groupon vouchers. This is despite the offer still being offered on Groupon.

I went with a large group of friends, some of whom knew a lot about Indian food and some absolute novices. The restaurant treated us so kindly, answering all questions and making suggestions to those who needed it. Food was hot, plentiful, and delicious. Will absolutely return as soon as I'm back!

My husband and I went here last night as we were on a mini break to Oxford. The staff greeted us with a warm welcome and were so attentive, immediately asking about our drink requirements and then if we would like poppadoms. It was explained to us that if there was anything that we couldn’t see on the menu, he would ask his chef if he cook make it for us. We ordered the chicken Labradar and king prawn sizzler which were both absolutely delicious. Melt in the mouth meat and prawns, the onion bhaji and peshwari naan were just perfect. We couldn’t fault the service, the manager? Then told us after our desert of delicious ice cream that as they were happy to have us as there customers they would like to give us a drink on the house. I noticed they did this with the other customers too which my husband and I agreed was a lovely touch that we felt would certainly encourage us to return. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone and really wish we lived near Oxford as would return frequently!
