Stopped by with a party of six on a Saturday at 6:30 pm. Despite only two other diners in the entire restaurant, we were asked if we had a reservation (we didn’t), and the staff then went out of their way to ignore us all. No further communication - we were left standing there for several minutes before deciding to leave. The staff's attitude left a terrible impression, and none of us will be returning.

I recently collected takeaway from Jee Saheb restaurant, for me and my family.I ordered Chicken, Lamb and Vegetable dishes, and the food was absolutely delicious, good quality, good size portions, even my elderly parents who don't eat as much as they used to,but these dishes they absolutely loved it, and ate more than usual, that's how tasty the food was.We all enjoyed every dishes with nice soft Nan breads. The owner Wayas Ahmed was very friendly and professional, who greeted us with a warm welcome, as well as all the staff was amazing. Its good quality food and excellent customer service,I couldn't ask for more.I will definitely recommend this restaurant, you won't be disappointed, they also do delivery service aswel.I can't wait to visit this restaurant again.Thank you for making mine and my family night to remember.

The main course was tasty but I ordered lamb samosas for the starter and it was the smallest portion I think I have ever received in a restaurant. They charged £6 for two tiny samosas that were little more than a couple of mouthfuls each. I felt cheated to be honest. The main was better but it felt opportunistic to serve such a small starter.

We tried this restaurant for the first time as a result of receiving a flyer through the door. The food was OK, the service was OK and the atmosphere was OK - that's it really. It's OK not good not bad. But given the plethora of other excellent restaurants in Oxford you have to stand out from the crowd - Jee Saheb certainly did not do that. It was, however, quite reasonably priced.

We had a great time here. Group of 8, so a fairly big booking, but they were able to fit us in on the same day we called! Then I had to change the number of people, and after that, push the time back. The people who work here couldnt have been friendly or more accommodating even though I was making last minute changes that probably weren’t ideal! We ordered a big mix of dishes, all of which came out at the same time and piping hot, which you don’t always see nowadays, so that was lovely. The food was nice, but next time I’ll have to remember to ask for no extra / fresh coriander (though that’s just my taste). Portion sizes were decent! We had a lot of fun and will be back.

Fabulous food. The tastiest Indian food I’ve eaten for a long time. My chicken biryani was absolutely delicious, I chose it because it was, unusually, accompanied by dahl, rather than a vegetable curry. My vegetarian family loved their paneer shashlik and chick pea curries. Service was attentive but not overbearing.

We came here on New Year’s Eve and had overall a good experience. The food was tasty and nicely cooked but not as flavorful as at other Indian/Bangladeshi restaurants I have been to in the UK. I went for the Chicken Handi Lazeez, which was less spicy and rich than expected and a tiny bit on the watery side. My girlfriend had the Korai curry and it was a bit similar in flavor and texture to my dish. The service was professional and attentive, although that could be expected with some of the other tables being empty. We were slightly disappointed with the starter platter and they forgot our papadom order (we were not charged, so not an issue at all). Prices are ok. Overall a good experience but with some room for improvement.

I have eaten at many Indian restaurants, but this was disappointing. I can't judge the meat dishes, but the sag paneer and dahi baigon were both bland. The former had very liitle sag (spinach) in it, and an almost korma-like thick yellow sauce! The baigon (aubergine) had little flavour, and a strangely similar sauce to the sag paneer! The rice portions were on the small side - just about enough, but rice is relatively cheap, so why not be a bit more generous? To summarise, the two veg dishes we had were not really bad, but below par...

My visit to this restaurant had its share of positives and negatives. While I found the food to be enjoyable without any issues, the service left much to be desired. The biggest drawback was the significant delay in bringing our food, which lasted nearly an hour and came without any prior notice. To make matters worse, they charged us a 10% service fee. Throughout our meal, the staff's constant staring made us feel uneasy and intruded upon. Although the food itself was satisfactory, these service-related aspects dampened our overall experience.

Went there before Covid when it was good. Went again a few weeks ago and it wasn’t. Given the other reviews maybe we picked the wrong night, but both food and service was poor. There are far better Indian restaurants. On the positive side the atmosphere was good, the restaurant was buzzing. Pleasant interior. The menu looked really interesting. The starter and drinks were good . But that was it . Whilst the order was taken relatively quickly we then waited for over an hour for the main course. Meanwhile we could see that the Deliveroo and other drivers were going in and out from the kitchen ( via a different entrance) with bags full of takeaways. They seem to prioritise take away over restaurant customers, we weren’t the only ones with a long wait. The kitchen seemed clearly overwhelmed. There was no explanation or saying sorry for the wait. When the food came it was at best mediocre. He was missing the chillies that should have been in the dish and mine was tasteless. It was supposed to be mild, but not flavourless. On top of that our waiter was surly, though what seemed to be the manager was pleasant. We won’t be rushing back.

I ordered a delivery from this place as I'd never tried it before and the menu looked interesting. There are so many excellent Indian restaurants in Oxford I felt like trying a new one. I waited an hour and a half before eventually phoning the restaurant. The man I spoke to said he'd go and find out what was happening (no apology) after a few mins a different man came on the phone and wanted all my details again! (seemingly the first guy had not bothered to pass any of this on). So he then went off to the kitchen to see what was happening. After a few minutes he then told me the food had left the restaurant, but it then took another half hour to arrive (and the restaurant is only 1.5 miles away!). The food was very poor - watery and tasteless. One dish consisted mostly of undercooked chickpeas with a hard-boiled egg. And the mattar paneer was awful. I shall not bother again - I'll stick to Jamona which is always excellent.

I went to the restaurant with 2 of my friends with prior reservation. The first waiter who addressed me was polite and nice. Later on, two older waiters came in and they were very rude. They were constantly checking us as if we were just sitting there wasting time. When we placed the order (2 Biriyani and one veg dish), it took them 40min to serve. We asked them if we can have some chai in between and they said they can't handle this much order in the kitchen. So we waited till the food was served. I am Bangladesh and my friends are from India and Iran. By our standard, the biriyani was 4/10. Very much under-salted and the spices have not simmered well enough into the meat/veg. Moreover we paid around 50GBP for this food. I would have been okay with the food if the service was nice. But, at the end, I was equally appalled at the service and the dishes. In my opinion, they should work on the service first. Regarding biriyani, it feels like a westernised version of the real thing.

I came here with my cousin who had been raving about this place for months. As a grad student here he often looks for places that meet the quality bar without breaking the bank. Jee Saheb is a terrific Indian restaurant with a kitchen that also likes to include Bangladeshi, Pakistani, NW frontier and Parsee/Persian inspired dishes among the standard Indian crowdpleasers (eg chicken korma and so on).We came with two others and hadn't called ahead to make a booking so felt lucky to get a comfortable table for 4 at 7:30 on a Saturday night placed far from the draft by the front door. By 8pm the place was packed. Noise levels were pleasant. This is not one of those places that become unbearably loud when full. Very good service. We were promptly offered drinks and papadums - arrived in what felt like seconds with a mix of chutneys of varying spice intensity. Hit the spot. It was literally 0 degrees outside this evening and the spice was very welcome. Only one of us was drinking and he got a Cobra beer. I got the lamb shaktora (a Bangladeshi dish using shaktora a small lemon found in the area of Sylhet in Bangladesh) which was absolutely delicious. If you've never seen this before on a menu, give it a try. My cousin got his usual lamb chops with spinach and chickpeas, also seasoned really well and a popular item for takeaway. I found the spice levels of the mains fairly mild but still flavorful. Another one of us got a chicken dish in a sauce with blended almonds, pistachios and a bit of cardamon - gentle and fragrant. Ideal for people who are timid about Indian food. We ordered one rice side and a few of the breads - a garlic naan, a chapati and a roti. The chapati and roti were good but the garlic naan was excellent. We also got a vegetable biryani which came with a vegetable curry that was disappointingly bland. We ordered a side of dal hoping it would add a bit more flavor but found it similarly insipid and had to ask the waiter for some salt to give it a bit of life. Fortunately we had plenty of good stuff between the two lambs and the chicken. If we were to go back we decided we would next try the minced lamb curry, the chicken handi and vegetable sabzi, as well as one of the tandoori dishes. We were a bit too full for dessert. The bill for 4 with service came to about 82 pounds. Jee Saheb is a place we'd happily visit again on a future trip to Oxford. A great place to try a range of dishes but beware of the occasionally bland item and let them know if you can take on a bit of spice.

I have never been told by a ‘waiter’ in a restaurant to have ‘commonsense’ ! And, this is just the tip of the iceberg of how rude and obnoxious the service of Jee Sahib (translated as Yes, Sir) - a complete misnomer to what the meaning of the term is! The staff was unbelievably rude and I’m not sure if they were having a really bad day or what - but in all these years of traveling around the world - I have never been given this kind of discriminatory treatment! Food - just ok, but I stopped and left midway!

a) It is not an Indian restaurant. Indian food doesn't taste like this - it is diverse and has got some flavour. At best, it can be close to Bengali food! But more on Bangladeshi side, because that's what my friends from Indian Bengal would say. b) I went with great hope after having read some decent reviews because I was missing food from my part of the world but this was the coldest (rude and unfriendly) place i've been to, in all of the UK - so far! Alas! The staff misbehaved, and pretty much got into a quarrel with me over something that i asked about food. It was just bizarre and uncalled for! c) The food barely had any taste! The only thing that was nice was the naan and I am sure that's not so much of rocket science.

One server was really great, the other kept telling us the “kitchen was too busy” for stuff even though there were only three other tables occupied.. what? Don’t you want your kitchen busy?? That put us off a bit. The tea came with some sweets which was appreciated, even though we couldn't get the chai (kitchen was too busy for that!!) sitting outside was lovely, next door doing jazz on a Sunday night was really nice. We were happy, but it could've been better with the service. We sat for twenty minutes when we arrived with nothing... No one coming... No water.

I ordered the paneer shashlik, chana masala, and naan-- all very delicious! Great options for vegetarians; charming north parade location perfect on a summer evening.

Después de habernos desilusionado con la mayoría de los restaurantes indios locales, volvimos a este después de una brecha de varios años.

Great Indian menu with range of unusual dishes. Lamb stew and Balti were delish. Pappadom and Bhuji were very good as well as the chutneys and naan. Motor paneer and sag paneer were awesome tho too similar. Service was impeccable. Highly recommend.

We visited Jee Sahab for the first time whilst staying in Oxford last October and promised ourselves we would definitely add it to our "must visit" list for future stays. This week we returned to Oxford for 3 days, dining at Jee Sahab twice! The ambience is pleasingly simple and relaxing and the staff discreet, welcoming and helpful. There is an interesting variety of tempting dishes and each course that we have had has been utterly delicious

Lovely food, excellent service, and I can especially recommend a cup of the house Chai tea to round off a delicious meal.

Old school Bengali style curry house with a large and interesting menu. Several dishes were a first for me. Efficient competent service and really well made and mouth watering food. Will be back to sample more dishes from the inviting menu. I like it that they aren't going for the cocktail bar style modern Indian but a comfortably classic, possibly a little bland, interior.

Extremely friendly service and wow the food! Delicious. I had the Tandoori Chicken Biryani and it was just amazing. Definitely try the Chai as well. Definitely go when in Oxford.

Food was delivered promptly, everything was hot and fresh. Lovely variety of flavours across the different curries. The vindaloo certainly had a kick to it! Impressed with the naans and portion sizes

My first and last visit, slow service, food served on cold plates, which was bang average at best on a very limited menu not to mention a cheeky service charge which I had taken off, much better elsewhere

Personally, I prefer other Indian restaurants. A lot of the food we had was kinda bland with overpowering mint and raw onion. My biggest gripe was there were no cocktails left, 95% of the alchol menu crossed out and then 50 percent of the soft drink menu crossed out such as Pepsi zero this Is on a Tuesday at 6 I've never been to a place with so much missing I thought someone had just scribbled all over my menu. I don't know if you get ur delivery's on a Wednesday but was severely disappointed. Safe to say I won't be going again.
