I don't like Indian food because I can't have spicy food. However, I enjoyed every bit of the food here. I reordered the mocktail and together with the lamb chops, it's was 28 pounds in total including the service charge and the charity! The atmosphere is really nice, the food is amazing, the presentation of food is interesting, the staff are really friendly and i was told that the charity goes to Oxford hospital!

First time visiting Mowgli for my partners birthday, we were really looking forward to it. The decor was the best part, a very cool restaurant. The food not so great, the food came out super fast, therefor was not cooked fresh. I would not care to return & left disappointed & hungry. We tried the office workers tiffin, very bland. We also tried Mothers Butter Chicken. The chicken was grisly & I could not eat it. I personally would not return. .

Such a beautiful venue - twinkly lights everywhere! Food was delicious. We had a sharing platter plus one other dish each. Shame it was quite cold as they served it but we had to wait ages for cutlery. They forgot my dish and had to wait for it to arrive. The staff were too busy milling around and having a laugh with each other to notice we'd had poor service.

Visited twice, 1. Quantity- Do not expect a decent quantity or even a sufficient quantity if you are an south Asian and here to try authentic Indian food 2. Customer service - Un attentive, you have to shout multiple times to get a hold of waiter in not so busy restaurant. 3. Price - Expensive for nothing. Neither the quality or quantity of the food justify the price Highly recommend not to visit, especially when you are in hungry. Spent over 100£ for 4 and not a single person felt full.

Had heard good things about this restaurant from family, and we weren't disappointed. The decor, lights and swinging chairs were appealing upon entering. The food came out swiftly and each dish was delicious. The service was very good - the lady who served us replenished the water bottle each time that it ran out, without us asking. The menu was good and we enjoyed the tiffin, roti, puri and tamarind fries. The atmosphere was relaxing and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely recommend. Overpriced s***!!! Curry comes out in a bowl not much bigger than a ramekin! The food was lukewarm, the cocktails tasted awful and there wasn’t any alcohol in it!!! I would ABSOLUTELY AVOID and go to your favourite tandoori!! We will never ever go back to mowgli! The chat bombs (pani puri) weren’t very good either. They recommended it but little did they know I have had lots of pani puri from lots of other decent places and they all traditionally serve coriander water with them, not this place. Two lamb chops and a couple of soggy potato tots for £8.50!! Staff were nonchalant and impatient. I found the place to be very pretentious! Better quality curries and service found at your local tandoori!

Four adult friends sharing a meal, we ordered a selection of vegetarian starters and mains to share. The food was interesting, some unusual flavours and the rice was particularly aromatic and delicious. Some of the dishes were quite sweet (lot of tamarind in several of them) which didn’t suit everyone but all enjoyed the paneer and tarka Dahl. Wide selection of drinks.

Went for meal on Sunday. Ordered starters and mains. Main meal bought out while we were still eating starter. Told by server with attitude that meal are bought out when ready and they don’t do starters and separate mains. This should be made clear at time of ordering as there was not enough room on the table for everything. How do you expect people to enjoy the meal when the table is so cluttered. Reading reviews and lots of people have mentioned starters and mains including a local journalist who was not corrected probably because she wrote a good review. Tables too close together so it appears it has become a get as many in as possible serve them quick and take the money.

My experience is in connection with their website. I ordered a gift card for a birthday on 1st February and it has still not arrived. I was advised it can take up to 14 days and has been dispatched yet still not received. I have been emailing the company who have confirmed the order was placed yet they cannot help me as I emailed them from a different email address from the one the order was placed via. I have now emailed them from the "correct" one and I am waiting for a response. I have requested a full refund as they have obviously not sent the voucher. I will definitely not be using their website again and having heard of some unfortunate experiences from people dining at their Oxford restaurant I will not be visiting there again either. You are supposed to wait for people to finish the course they are eating before taking the next one out regardless of whether or not you do starters and mains.

I don't know about authentic Indian food, but there is a good selection of food to choose from and the food was tasty. There are good dessert choices as well. We had wanted to visit Mowgli for a long time and decided to finally treat ourselves. We had pre-booked a table as it was a Saturday, as you walk in, the staff greeting you are stood at a computer, with their back to you and hadn't realised we had walked in for a few moments...when they had, it was a very lukewarm greeting. We were sat at the swing chairs (a great novelty) but actually eating and trying to relax, they are VERY impractical, I felt like I couldn't relax as the swing was always unsteady. We could not move seats as the restaurant was extremely busy and we even witnessed a toddler on the swing seats next door, fall down in between the swing and the brick wall and hurt herself. Quite dangerous if you're seating young families in these seats. We ordered a few curries to sample and the menu looked delicious, I was excited to try the food. But honestly, the curries were quite watery, flavourless and not very warm in temperature. My husband asked the server what beer they would recommend to compliment the meal and they couldn't have looked more bored if they tried. So disappointing! As for the service charge, I would completely agree with this when you visit a celebrity chef restaurant, however you need to make sure the service level meets the expectations of the customers paying for this. Although, we still paid this on the day, I felt the service we received was very forgettable and not welcoming in the slightest. We were not asked if our meal was ok at any point and even when taking payment, they did not ask how everything was. Customers expect more when they visit this type of establishment, so I hope you take this review as constructive, as we really wanted to say we would visit again, but off this particular experience, probably not.

Placed our order the Bhel puri arrived first my god what an incredible dish. The manager came and sat down next to us to tell us the tangled greens would be 30 mins, with how impressive the Puri was we had zero problem to wait for said dish. After all the amazing food had arrived, couldn't be anymore impressed. Fantastic food, first class service and beautiful atmosphere. I highly recommend this place as I've been a chef for 16 years and this was the best meal I've had in many years that's not been cooked by myself. Really dissappointed that I was turned away at 9.35 pm saying it is closed when the Website and Google shows closing time as 10 pm. I walked 25 minutes to get to this as I really enjoy the food here and have tried many if their other branches. Infact tried to call them from 9 pm continously to ensure I will get a place and it will be open! But no one picked up the phone. However, assuming I'm going to be 30 minutes before closing time, I was confident and walked 25 mins to get there. But they just turned us away (Me and My wife) saying kitchen was closed. They didn't even try to do anything no quick dishes or anything at all. Simply " I am sorry we are closed!". Even after asking if they can do atleast something quick... The answer was a clear no. So that others don't suffer this, hoping this review will help improve this. Either you serve or update the time on the website and Google to say you close at i guess 9 pm on Thursday?

Lots of emails from different people bouncing around, noone taking responsibility....so , nah, you're alright. Won't go back. Not wasting my heard earned cash. Such a shame. Mowgli has a good rep, maybe we just picked the wrong night Chased our drinks order up twice Seemed like not enough staff on. We were taken to a table, menus placed on table and server walked away without another word. We had to ask for drinks ....later we were asked if we wanted drinks because ours simply didn't arrive A table of 6.....nowhere to put coats as our bench seats were full so coats went on the floor. Commented to the waitress but comments ignored, probably because there is no solution other than throw it on the floor or wear it We had to ask how it all worked. Mains were cheap because it's a tapas style....small plates. The server should have explained all of that when we sat down! The food was fantastic but the service is added onto the bill and it just wasn't as good as you would expect. Even the basics were lacking. We would go back as the atmosphere and the food is good. Cocktail menu is mainly gin which is a shame. If the service is bad I would say something, but didn't on this occasion as was a work night entertaining a client Due to the drawn out email process in response to this....we won't be back. We have no doubt that nothing will change

Mowgli is a nice place on the rooftop of a beautiful mall. The atmosphere of the place is very nice and elevated the experience. We started with the yoghurt chaat bombs and sticky chicken. The bombs were good, but the flavor is very unique, there is a lot of yoghurt so be ready! The sticky chicken was probably the one of the best things we had, fried to perfection with a great sauce. The bunny chow is served in a big piece of bread and it packed with flavor - this was our favorite entree. The butter chicken was not as creamy as I would have liked, it was more on the watery side. The office worker tiffin was a good experience, as it gives you a great sampling of the menu. The lamb curry and ginger chicken were both good, but I didn’t care for the daal. They don’t have naan here, only Roti but it was good! Overall a beautiful atmosphere with nice servers and good food. They take special precautions for gluten free food to make it safe for celiacs and have a dedicated frier which is a huge plus if you’re gluten free!

Chicken Tikka was served with red cabbage/ coleslaw cold sweet salad.. not sure which cuisine they follow.. Matar paneer was worst, had lots of honey, and much much garam masalas added to make it sweet bitter pathetic taste.. Rice was half cooked, towards raw category, even asked twice to replace, but the third server was even not fully cooked. Lamb curry, was much bland, not at all flavourful.. Potato curry was ok I would say, I didn't expect much with Potato curry anyways.. At the last.. Roti was made with good quality of flour, but was not even cooked properly... Having gone to Mowgli oxford on a previous occasion i was eager to show my friend and her children the brilliance we experienced. Having said this; disappointing doesn’t cover the service and food we experienced. First impressions in any restaurant is key to a fine dining experience for any customer on arrival to Mowgli we didn’t have any form of greeting by the 2 waitresses that where stood by the front door, not even a smile. We wasn’t asked if we wanted a table and how many for, when asking for a table of 5 (2 being children) we where placed on a 4 person table cramped and uncomfortable even though the restaurant was on the verge of empty. Having placed our orders we where given one main course before the rest, waiting for the rest of the order the main dish already served was cold, the rice..undercooked and the childrens butter chicken was spicy for a 5 year old child it wasn’t mild in the slightest. The house chicken curry was described as ‘Tame’ it came with 4 red chillies and was also…spicy. The Bill was fairly priced also the service charge was added on which was optional, when disclosing we wasn’t paying the charge the server we had became rude, was chewing gum and didn’t even bother asking why we was de-satisfied with the service provided. Appalling if I’m completely honest, chewing gum and serving customers is unprofessional and rude. We will never, ever be coming here again and would not recommend. My husband and I went here on a spur of the moment decision to go somewhere new for dinner. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to accommodate a table for 2 on this occasion. We were seated, and we immediately had a waiter come to take our drink order. For me, this was perfect. What I will say about the establishment is that the drinks are extortionate. A small glass bottle of Coke Zero was over £3! I could get two 2ltr bottles for the same price at the supermarket, and this bottle must only have even around 330ml. It was the same with the cider. I think the cider cost 5-6 for one. However, as this was our first visit, we asked the waiter if they could advise us on what they would order, and they were more than happy to assist. They advised use to get the yoghurt chat bombs and also pointed out a few other items as well and advised us what parts of the menu worked together and what combinations to avoid (loved this!) The restaurant brings the food out as and when it is ready and so therefore there is no set starter and mains. I ordered the Mowgli House Keema and rice, and my husband ordered the Mowgli Sticky Chicken and Fenugreek Kissed Fried. Both of the dishes had a kick to them, my husband's more than mine. The volume of the food is very deceiving. They are definitely for those with a hearty appetite! We did order a desert afterwards, despite being stupidly full. I ordered the Gulab Jamun, and my husband ordered The Mowgli Chocolate Brownie. Neither of these were to my very picky taste, but my husband loved them both. We spent around £65 for the 2 of us. We only ordered one drink each. I would definitely recommend this place to others. I would have given it 5 stars, but the drop of 1 star is purely due to the price of the drinks. I will advise, if you're not a fan of spicy foods, then you may want to tread carefully with this menu. But I will be visiting again in the future, but I may just get a table water next time and skip out on the drink.

Four of us shared a selection of tiffin box meals - all were tasty and the quantities were good for us all to try each dish. We were offered, and went for, the swing seats which was fun!

Bang average. Visiting from elsewhere so tried the food here. Tiny portions, service charge added for a single diner and bang average curry. Be amazed if there's not better Indian food in Oxford! Service was decent, friendly but extremely disappointing food.

Great food, nice staff and a welcome deviation from a standard indian resteraunt. My only feedback is, please add some cushions to the swinging bench seats, sitting on a solid plank of wood for over an hour becomes very uncomfortable.

I’d never eaten at a Mowgli restaurant prior to this one. I thought it was ok. The food tastes nice but is presented poorly and doesn’t offer anything particularly unique or memorable. The menu is pretty confusing, for example, it doesn’t specify what is vegan and since the cutlery holder is a tin of ghee, it wasn’t very clear unless you intended on deciphering the allergen sheet per meal. Additionally, it didn’t state if dishes needed to be paired (though it should be said that £4 for rice is quite eye watering). The dish I ordered (Holy Chow) came with a lot of curry and on a flat plate which made it quite odd to eat as it felt like it was sliding a lot (wouldn’t a bowl or edged plate be better for something liquid based?). It tasted nice though and was a decent portion for the price. Service was generally poor. I can’t say I’ve eaten in many chains where the service was particularly good so I suppose it’s average in that sense - but if you want to charge additional fees then the service should be better in my opinion. Probably wouldn’t give it another go.

It's actually not bad. The starters were amazing. Loved the Chana curry but the paneer curry we ordered was sugar sweet which was disappointing and the desserts weren't great. Friendly staff and nice place for vegans. Can definitely go for the starters.

Amazing food and service, a big plause to the manager in charge I believe the name was Michelle that was very friendly and managed to get us a table even though we didn't have a booking during a rainy tuesday evening.

I just wanted to say that my partner and I had a lovely visit to your restaurant. We were served by Sophie, who was fantastic. She gave us some awesome recommendations and was lovely to speak to even though the place was busy. We managed to get a table without booking luckily - definitely book to secure a space at the weekends. Thank you very much.

£20 for a roti, dhal and some chicken for one person (no drink, just tap water). It was tasty but flavours not quite rich/deep enough compared to other Indian restaurants I've been to. Maybe I didn't order the correct items? Anyway, stunning atmosphere making it a nice date spot.

Amazing!!! Mowgli Street Food was such a delightful and positive experience. The combination of magical spices, top-quality ingredients, fantastic service, and a well-designed restaurant made it a memorable evening. The swings by the window and a mix of modern and traditional decor have created a unique atmosphere. The food is presented well with good portion size. Anyone who visits the restaurant needs to try the Yougurt Chart Bomb. It is absolutely delicious.

All fur coats, and no… Not quite sure what to make of it all… but overall average at best. The gap between bringing out the first dish and then the remainder was too long. This process you have is poor and unappreciated. Bringing the dish’s to the table with one pot inside another left the table absolutely filthy, and felt un hygienic. Not impressed with the service charge added to the bill, chap on the door was superb, the others below average. I would of left the same if not more as a tip as to me that feels ethically right. Your place isn’t worthy of assuming it’s acceptable to add the service charge, granted I could of took it off… but no. Drinks, superb. The seats would been below the required standards of a third world country’s prison. This is so disappointing, this should really enhance an experience not tarnish it. Food, below average. 7 separate dish’s ordered, 1 was good, the others either poor or below average. I can’t see me returning, you’ve got to experience it to know if it’s for you or no despite what reviews say… I now have, but this place is not for me, felt like a waste of time and money with so many other restaurants in close proximity. Consider getting the simple things right. KR

First visit but certainly not the last. We stumbled across Mowgli on our day trip to Oxford, the pretty fairy lights were what grabbed our initial attention. So glad we took a chance as the service and food was amazing, friendly waiting staff and fresh flavoursome dishes. We will definitely be back when we are in our home town of Leeds.

Very different to your average local Indian restaurant. Every dish has its unique taste and flavour. The staff were very friendly, we even spoke to the owner and he was really nice and explained the fusion of different dishes! Decor is dreamy! Perfect for date night! Highly recommended it to anyone.

We really like the Mowgli restaurants - we've been to the Edinburgh and Oxford branches. Very well done. On this visit we went pre-theatre. We really like the varied menu here. We had: - Yoghurt Chat Bombs: The heart of Mowgli. Crisp bread puffs filled with chickpeas, spiced yoghurt, tamarind & coriander. - Temple Dahl: The ultimate Indian home comfort tood. Red lentil simmered with toasted cumin, coriander & lemon - Mowgli House Keema: Succulent ground lamb, roast cumin, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, peas, tomatoes & pulses simmered for hours to create a darkly rich & heady dish. - Mowgli Puri: Pillowy epic soft fried golden flat bread. The ultimate Indian celebration bread. - Mowgli Basmati Rice: Steamed with black cardamom & cumin. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. The food was very tasty indeed! Might fall asleep in the theatre....

Ambience is good but food is not a cent near to Indian food. The vessel / tiffin the food was served in was smelling terrible. Went for a dinner on my wife’s birthday and it was a big disappointment. Hated the over use tamarind chutney. I think the Dosa point in Oxford serves better Indian authentic Indian food.
