The staff kindly sorted our running club's Xmas bash here. Good spot with a large free car park, friendly staff, dog friendly & amazing food - highly recommended.

Met some friends there who I’ve in Harrogate. Didn’t expect a five star establishment but likewise expected good service, drinks and atmosphere. It was quite the opposite.?Unfriendly staff. Felt very run down and in need of a refurb. Wouldn’t return.

The Shepherd’s Dog is a great old Yorkshire pub, set on Harlow Hill on Otley Road in Harrogate. Mike the landlord makes everybody feel welcome and the pub has a family friendly atmosphere. The beer garden is great too.

Came in on our way back to Otley after a terrible NT visit. What a warm, welcoming reception - locals treated us well, bar staff amazing - wife loved the sausage roll - excellent pint and coffee brought to the table. Do not miss this if you are passing.

This is a nice pub on the edge of Harrogate. It’s not a chic trendy bar, just a decent pub, nicely decorated, tv screens and food on offer. Not handy for people in the town centre, but useful option for anyone staying on the Harlow Carr side of Harrogate

Called in this Pub to have a Drink and Meal in Respect of my Father in Law who used to drink there some time ago, when he was Living in Harlow Hill, Now Deceased ! We had been to Cemetery and called in for a Lunch my self wife & Step sister, we got our drinks and then perused the Menu, witch has a very Good selection of meals, also Specials on the Bar Blackboards ! I chose the Slow cooked Belly Pork off the Special board, and other 2 both selected the Fish Pie, A short wait is I believe all is cooked fresh, my meal was excellent with the steamed veg, the Fish Pie was very substantial plenty of Fish in the Pie, again served with steamed veg , The Pub is clean and welcoming staff Friendly, and helpful overall nice place to visit! Would recommend if in the area to call in , good selection of Beer's and other drinks, well behaved Dogs welcome, and a Nice Beer Garden for the occasional Good Weather, will call again next time in Harrogate, bit away from centre but well worth the effort !!

Local pubs are becoming rarer but the dog is a fantastic community pub. Had Sunday lunch under new chef management and can honestly say it was excellent and couldn’t fault a thing. You get a lot of food and the service is excellent. The price of £12.00 for a Sunday lunch is better value than other local pubs and to be honest, it’s better at the shepherds dog. Support your local pub and head down for Sunday lunch- you will not be disappointed.

This is probably my fourth Sunday lunch here and I can honestly say it's brilliant every time. Today, I had the beef Sunday roast and it was fantastic- the beef is high quality and cooked perfectly, veg is fresh and well seasoned.Had this with some very nice and reasonably priced Rioja. We then had dessert which was a chocolate fondant with ice cream which was very tasty. This is a great local pub which offers an extensive menu of food.I also like that they serve Sunday lunch till 6pm which a lot of places don't do. Would recommend for a drink, lunch or a get together with friends/family.

Stopped here after completing over 12 miles of walking on the nearby geocaching series. A much needed sit down. Lovely shandy and we shared a pulled pork panini with skinny fries. Prices very reasonable and the food was plentiful, fresh, cooked to order and most of all very tasty.

8 of us ate here 10/06/17, 6 adults, 2 children. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and the portion sizes meant there was no need for desert. We were served at the bar quickly, the lady pushed two tables together for us and everyone was polite and helpful to us. Would highly recommend.

We received another warm welcome and really good service both at the bar and at the table. Can really recommend the fish pie I ordered and consider one of the best I've had. Reasonable prices for great food.

We visited here after a day of geocaching, we were frozen to our core and were delighted when the friendly lady told us they served hot chocolate. She even told us she would bring it over to us :) We were expecting bog standard machine stuff but she brought us 3 lovely tall glasses of hot chocolate with marshmallows in. The locals were friendly too and didn't make us feel awkward that we were all dirty, muddy and wearing walkers gear at 6 on a Saturday night!! :) After reading the reviews on here about the food I think we will give the food a try on our next trip geocaching around harrogate :) thankyou for making us feel welcome :)

We'd eaten here before when it was Deano's at the Dog and found the food very good, so had some reservations about returning when we found out the link with Deano's had gone. We went on a Saturday again and the pub was still really busy with drinkers, but fewer people eating. At first it was hard to hold a conversation; this got better as the crowd thinned out. The menu was slimmer than last time, with just a few pub grub staples. That said, there were offers that provided good value and, when the food came it was freshly-cooked and tasty. The staff were friendly, but it took some time to order as the server who brought the menus initially forgot to come back.

A warm afternoon on our way back from walking the dog in the nearby woods, we decided to pop into the Shepherds Dog for a quick drink. Prolonging the visit to include lunch in the beer garden, we were treated to the best chicken in a basket we've had. Served promptly and with a smile by the friendly staff, would recommend everytime without hesitation.

This is my local pub, very handy at the top of the road & quite often call in for a gorgeous Sunday roast or dinner with friends. Luke has a great menu of home cooked quality food. The Sunday roasts are amazing & they have great offers on including steak night for 2, and fish & chips to takeaway and have at home.

The food is good quality and there's a choice for everyone. Especially love the chicken in a basket! Recommend to all my friends and family that live around Harrogate.

We visit the pub regularly, the food is home cooked from local suppliers. Good variety of traditional pub classics with some standout dishes - the fish and chips (which are also offered as takeaway) are amazing! As too is the traditional Sunday roasts which change each week. Alongside that, you can get the usuals of steak and ale pie with mash, chilli, burgers and lasagne. We've not tried the Saturday steak night yet but £15 for two 8oz rump steaks with all the trimmings sounds like a winner so we will be back!

Me and a few of friends have been a couple of times recently for the sunday dinners and I couldn't fault the food in anyway, both times were superb! I always polish off every last bit on my plate, well worth the price you pay.

I have heard lots of great things about the food here so I visited today with my brother. The bar staff are friendly, excellent service and I had the best steak for a long time, I would rate the steak as good as any restaurant in town for a fraction of the cost. I'm looking forward to trying the roast dinner now.

Excellent roast dinner in a great atmosphere! £12 for a ginormous plate of food, loads of melt in the mouth meat, a huge Yorkshire Pudding, goose fat roast potatoes, creamed leeks, cauliflower cheese, peas, carrots and stuffing! They offer a smaller plate for £7 quid. Wash it down with a large glass of Merlot that is cheaper than a fiver! Sunday Roast heaven!

The staff are great. They accommodated our new baby and made sure we had room for the pram. The food is the best quality whenever we come. Every time we come it makes me think why we didn't eat there before this year!.

Stumbled on this little eatery while visiting Knaresborough on a Sunday lunch time. We went in to get maybe a sandwich and thought it wasn’t going to be great to be honest but ended up having a cooked lunch and it was so good! The place was busy and you could tell they were locals as they were chatting across to each other. We looked at the menu and decided to have have a cooked meal. I ordered pie chips and peas and my husband a burger with chips salad and coleslaw and a pot of tea. You could actually get a 3 course Sunday lunch for £14.50! When mine came there were no peas but another bowl soon arrived full of fresh vegetables and a big jug of gravy. Food was really good the staff were lovely. The lady said that as she had been cooking Sunday lunches she gave me some of the veg. We were thoroughly impressed and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again. Great food and great value for money! Definitely worth trying!

Recently stayed for 3 nights whilst at a conference. All of the staff were incredibly welcoming and chatty, room (no.4) was clean, comfortable, spacious and homely. The Full Yorkshire Breakfast was the absolute star of the show, best I've had in years, and the location spot on for the town centre shops and bars and conference centre. Highly recommend staying here

Good range of dishes from small to large. Panini was very good! Salad served with it. Crisps come with sandwiches too! Very good range of cakes too!

Popped in whilst looking for a quick lunch. Very unusual setting for a tea room but works well with about 10 tables set up between the pews & the altar. The pews act as an overflow area if all tables are taken but we arrived as one was being vacated. Very friendly staff, a relaxing atmosphere and excellent value for money. Menu is limited to a choice of rolls, soup and a tempting range of homemade cakes & scones. Rolls could have improved if pickle, mustard or mayonnaise had been offered but the cakes & scones made up for this as they were very nice. The church itself is a delightful building and worth a visit in it’s own right. An interesting alternative lunch option.
