The food is good at Shampan, it's solid Indian food. It's good. It's not warm in the restaurant though. But the big issue is the service. Arrived at 5.30 and were finally served mains at 7.15. Repeatedly asked if we could order. 4 or 5 guys wandering about. Tbh completely ruined the evening. We wanted to eat around 6 and be out for just after 7. We left at 8.30 after a 5.30 booking. Honestly it was a joke. It would have been lovely if we didn't have plans later in the evening. So by all means go but expect the be there 2-3 hours and pack some sandwiches.

We went to the Shanpan last night the occasion of our wedding anniversary the meal was superb and the staff were very attentive. A really great evening will certainly go again.

Best Indian restaurant in the area, without a doubt! The staff are so friendly and the restaurant beautifully decorated. The food is the best Indian food I’ve ever had. We come regularly as a family and wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else!

Delicious food and excellent service!

Visited during a canal boat trip as we stopped overnight at Wheelock. Had a very good meal. Mains and sides really tasty, not oily which you can get with Indian food. But not here. Flavour some, delicious and excellent service. Would recommend and would definitely return.

I had a takeaway, the staff were very friendly and efficient. If I had been in the restaurant I'd have returned the meal as it was dreadful. I was however at home when I realised how tasteless, watered down and rubbery chicken it was. Never say never but never again

AWFUL EXPERIENCE ! Over 2 hours' wait for food when arrived wasn't anything special. Shocking service definitely won't be returning .To save wasting time head to Passage to India Crewe will not be disappointed like this absolute shambles!

Been to this restaurant a few times, but as I was back in my hometown I decided to give it a revisit and I was certainly not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff are always so friendly and easy to talk to. The service was perfect and I couldn’t recommend a better Indian in the area.

Haven't been able to visit for a while but as always greeted like good friends. Service is second to none, and the food is out of this world. Hands down, my favourite local restaurant!

Booked 7.30 got drinks but waited to 8.45 to place food order even after asking waiters. The place was empty one other party in. Been before much better but was very disappointed as we took friends from Belgium.

Just had a takeaway for an Easter treat and I have got to say it was one of the best Indians I have ever had so wanted to leave a compliment for the chef 😉

Been a few years since I've been here and I was very surprised with the revamp...very nice indeed, well thought out. Service was excellent as was the food and very well priced. We did have a group of guys in who were very loud and not so carefull with their choice of language, staff apologised to us...its pot luck who turns up at your resteraunt. Will deffinately be returning.

Nice decor inside and pretty good food but the service was sooo slow considering there were only 3 tables being served. We had to flag their attention many times and caught them on their phones ignoring the restaurant. Not a good look or service. Pretty reasonable prices and a nice free drink at the end.

Booked an early table and 2 hours later we had only been served popadoms. Appalling service and the worst thing is, they don’t even seem to care. Too busy sending out takeaways rather than attending to the diners. Seriously needs some organisation.

I don't go as often as I would like, however! Management and staff go beyond what is required! I have found that they are generous kind and attentive, I personally cannot thank them enough🙏

Amazing! Four of us had dinner here on Friday, 2nd February 2024. We all had different starters and main meals but thoroughly enjoyed our food. The staff are friendly and attentive. All in all, a great dining experience and we will definitely return again very soon!

A brilliant place to dine with excellent taste of food. It was nicely decorated with spacious rooms for eating. The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend it to anyone who loves this type of food.

Dropped in for a take-away. While we waited the owner insisted that we have a drink. Wouldn't take no for an answer. That's the kind of insistence I like! Chatted with us while the food was prepared as though we'd been a dozen times. Food was excellent, tasty, good value and big enough servings that we had two meals out of it. If we're in the area this place will definitely have our custom again.

Went last night Saturday 18th of November to celebrate my birthday, there was 6 of us 5 adults and 1 child . The service and food was superbly excellent, the food was hot , fresh tasty and delivered to our table by the waiters with a smile . Thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food and the atmosphere was great couldn’t fault it at all and were given a complimentary drink by the staff after our meal . Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting good food in a pleasant atmosphere. Thanks to all 💚

I have been in this place a year ago and ordered chicken tikka biryani which was amazing. However went there again yesterday which was about a year later and ordered the same dish and I was shocked how bad it was. I went there with 4 friends and they ordered curry's with rice and naan bread. Basically my biryani was exactly the same as my friend's rice, the only difference was they had thrown some dry chicken on top and put and egg on it and lettuce around it which was weird. I am a biryani lover and I was going to return the dish as I thought they really took the mick for £12 ! but my friends said just have some of our food which I did and theirs was really good. Savignon was good too. So, don't order biryani as it is an absolute joke!!!

Visited this place for the 1st time for a family birthday party a couple of weeks ago.... the service and the food was really good. It as a large party of 12 and they accommodated us really well, they were very attentive and the food came out at similar times. We asked if kids could have normal mains at half price for half portions which they said was no problem so everybody could choose what they wanted from the menu. The chicken tikka sizzlers were really good and I had the full mixed tandoori sizzler with a special hot sauce which was just as i asked for and I really enjoyed. Would definitely go back soon or even collect a takeaway from here as it really was that good. I struggle in Crewe area to find a decent Indian restaurant, I've not had a really good Indian takeaway round there and tried loads and the closest one we normally travel to is Bonbay Tiger Lilly in Alderley but this place will definitely be getting some of that business from now on. Normally I take photos but i enjoyed it that much i just got stuck straight in,,, I'll add some photographs when we go back very soon 👌

Excellent take away, very good value

We went to this little gem of a restaurant on recommendations from friends. The food was Great, and Service was faultless. We had a Great night and we will be returning soon.

Food was just ok, restaurant as a whole was quiet and lacked a bit of atmosphere, but the staff were lovely. It was ok.

Service polite and courteous. Food was delicious and the presentation was lovely. Will be back definately.

We booked a table for 6pm & our food arrived at 7:50. Shocking service & food was ok not great. Excuse was they were one person down in the kitchen. Take away was busy & being served before people dining in. Will not be back

At this point we decided to leave as the rudeness was something I've not experienced in a restaurant before; we weren't even offered an apology! There were only 2 other table with people so it wasn’t remotely busy. We will never go back.

The food is excellent, staff are very friendly, always accommodating and we would never go anywhere else for an Indian meal. Your not crammed in like some restaurants are, there’s parking it works for us.

The shampaan restaurant is the best of Indian cuisine in Cheshire, the food is amazing. The owners and staff are really lovely. You won't be disappointed. Can't recommend this restaurant highly enough

Waiter rushed off his feet on Sunday night but was honest and said due to staff absence was on his own front of house. He was waiting on all the tables and getting all the takeaways out too! Nothing was too much trouble, he was polite and professional under immense pressure. We'll be back soon. The food was delicious as it always is so 5 🌟 to the kitchen staff too👍😋

The best freshly cooked curry in sandbach A relaxed atmosphere to dine in and the standards of service are equal to the quality of the food which is excellent. It’s it not often a waiter will open the door for you as you leave the restaurant. Very professional polite and unlike other places the Take away curry is perfect too and the portions are so very generous. Compliments to the chef and team for your consistently high standards.

Hadn’t been for a while . Now remember why. Inedible lamb. In-laws couldn’t eat mains. Poor service-waited 20 minutes to be offered a drink, further hour before order taken. Cold plates, no cutlery for mains. Owner hovering for larger tip.Cannot see the attraction when there are far better curry houses in Sandbach.

Excellent, well cooked and well presented food. I can recommend this restaurant as THE place to eat in Wheelock/Sandbach. Ideal if you're a boater and have just done Heartbreak Hill and can't be bothered cooking or fortify yourself before beginning your ascent.

As narrowboaters we pass through many different places on our travels, and we always without fail find the Indian restaurants. Last night as a group of 4 we went to Shampaan. I can honestly say we had a fabulous evening, great food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere. The starters we had were a very nice quality, but the standout were the main dishes. Each one we ordered was different to the next, (non of these base gravy curries that all taste the same), and of a very high standard that tasted amazing!!! More over, they were different to and stood out against curries we have had in many other places. I highly recommend these guys, a fab restaurant well worth a visit. We will be back. Thanks guys for a great night!

Terrible service (2.5 hr wait for the food) Horrible Food, Stale Poppadum's Rude Staff

What to say went here table of 7 including 3 kids 5.30 pm After number of request Took one hour to take the order So it was 6.30pm We have asked the staff three time where our main were finally it’s arrived 8 pm 2.5 hr later No apology or nor any sort of commutation at all. And most annoyingly we waited further half and hour for our Bill after requesting . And more than anything Food is not Authentic and most definitely not Original Indians As I m my self from India and I know what our Desi food like. Popodums were stale old taste as most probably fried few days ago left over. They have chance all the recipes to match locals. On leaving we have mentioned to the tall waiter who was at the Bar and he could be care . His answer was How do I know your waiting that long ?? What a joke. I would not recommend this place to any one .

Great find in Wheelock, beautiful restaurant, gorgeous food and lovely staff. The food was really lovely, I had special biryani with a balti sauce, delicious, my husband had lamb tikka masala boiled rice a a garlic nan, all so nice.

Went there for the first time 04/02/23 with the family. 10 out of 10. 6 of us dined we all had different meals we all loved it. Best Indian meal I’ve had in years. We all want to go back soon.

Cannot fault this place ,staff really spot on and even agreed to make me a meal not on their menu , despite having A very large birthday party dining too . Food was excellent too.

Always had a great takeaway from here, however dined in tonight and was a pretty much awful experience. The food was bland and dishes incomplete. Complained and got worse back. Then they questioned me on what I ordered! Won't be going back...and yeah tall man was a tad rude to say the least! Much better Indian restaurants and takeaways around. Don't waste your time and money here. We won't be coming back for sure.

Food tastes really good, just a shame the tall guy is shockingly bad at customer service and a blatant liar. Quite a let down to the business. But would still recommend you give it a go as most of the time I've never had a problem.

Good and bad - Food was the perfect bit of kit however the extremely tall man behind the bar was extremely rude to the short man that gave me my food and kindly opened the door to let me out. He needs a raise..

We had a great time for one of my friends birthday curry feast. Had great curry and good friendly service from the staff highly recommended.

For me this is one of the best Indian restaurants in Cheshire East! We have had numerous takeaways and sat in the restaurant on several occasions! The food is fantastic!

Best Indian around. My personal favourite is lamb balti but you can't go wrong with a curry from here

We booked a table for 7 and waited over an hour for our food. They were clearly concentrating on takeaways and had allowed too many people to have booked tables for around the same time and just could not cope with the number of orders. Staff seemed confused most of the time and not sure what they should be doing. We had to chase up our food twice, plates were brought to the table cold - the waiter pointed this out to us and said he would take them away and bring warm plates, in the meantime our food was served up (no plates) then the plates were returned to us... still cold! We accepted cold plates as our food was on the table and it was getting very late! One meal was completely cold, so it was removed, and then returned minus the rice. By this time we just wanted to eat and leave as it was late and we had three under 16's with us. We asked for the bill shortly after the last person had finished eating, and waited nearly 15 minutes for it, and it still had the cold and missing food on it. To be fair to them, the manager did take it off the bill once I finally got him to our table to discuss the matter with me (six of our party had left by now) and he was apologetic in a roundabout way (following plenty of excuses) and did bring out 2 complementary shots of Tia Maria.... not quite enough for me to risk this experience again - I haven't got the patience for it. The food was ok, but definitely not worth the wait!!!

Excellent food waiters are really friendly and service is excellent. Always make my Grandaughter who is 14 feel special they take her into the kitchen keeping her at a safe distance to see what's going on in there. I would recommend it.

Great food just very long wait, suppose that maybe the price of being popular. Edited to above and my previous 4 star review as unfortunately had a pretty bad experience and got all the excuses under the sun rather than actually owning the issue. Yes mistakes do happen however own them and offers of free naan next time don't quite cut it as a token. Pity as genuinely lovely curries just poor service.

I feel as though its now high time I should praise this absolute gem of a restaurant. In my lengthy experience eating there, the food is always consistently superb. I can honestly say that I've never had a bad meal or experience there after many years of visiting of them. Unlike many establishments they really do genuinely listen to your order, be it for bespoke heat levels or for dietary requirements. It's very clean and the staff are always extremely helpful, attentive and friendly. They really do go the extra mile. . Unreservedly recommend that if you enjoy a curry you should give them a try be it for a table for two or with a group of friends. Excellent.

I've been to this restaurant a few times over the past couple of years and the rudeness of the staff has been consistently extremely high. I would never go again and would advise others not to waste their time or money at this venue.

Great service as always, very professional servers and excellent food - I always have something different and this time was no exception; I had the Shampaan Special Thawaan which was so good! I wish I lived closer to home so I could come more often.

Food is top notch with everything fresh and tasty slightly more pricey than others for take out food but worth it

We moved to the area yesterday and thought we’d give this place a try and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and packed full of flavour. We especially enjoyed the seekh kebab starter. We ordered a Chicken Jalfrazi and my only comment would be less of the onion and more of the chicken, but otherwise was delicious! Would definitely recommend this place and will be bringing the family along on our next visit!
