Shamblehurst Barn in Eastleigh

My husband and I booked for lunch, he had The Home run burger and sticky toffee pudding for dessert, and I had the crispy chicken sandwich and apple and berry crumble for dessert. The girls behind the bar were well presented, friendly and cheerful. We ordered our drinks and food together, it arrived in no time at all, it was plated nicely and the food was piping hot and absolutely delicious. The chips and onion rings were hot and crispy, not greasy at all. The desserts were also piping hot, and totally scrumptious. Sheila was our server today, she so warm and welcoming, really friendly but also professional in her approach. A credit to the company. We can’t wait to return.

Had dinner tonight 10/10/24 at the Shamblehurst Barn with my family. Food and service were excellent. Must give a special mention and thanks to Katie behind the bar. Although obviously rushed off her feet, mostly ran the bar singlehandedly, both serving drinks and taking food orders, always with a smile, getting it spot on every time. I really hope they value her, you dont find staff like this every day. Stan

Really good mini mixed grill great value and friendly staff . Would recommend for a good value meal on a budget. Good selection of beers

After golf grub with friends had mini mix grill all good and a few beers nice friendly staff and nice beer garden area would come again

Overall it was very good value for money. The food menu is what you would expect but is quite varied and there is decent selection of drinks.

One of the last pictures, looks like the meal was outside. When I was in the pub on Saturday. I was told they didn't serve food outside!!

We tried to book online but it wasn't working and we tried to ring and nobody answered so we decided just head up on a whim in the hope of a table, we arrived and the guy behind the bar told us they were fully booked for food, then he couldn't have done more for us saying if we're happy to eat outside we will bring food out, within 5 minutes he got us a table inside were we all enjoyed our food and drinks Definitely recommend, nice spacious place and very welcoming

Katie has been a fantastic host.

Pre booked and had a warm welcome. The food and drinks were served really quickly. The ale pie and mash was delicious. The Mix it Up of southern fried chicken skewers + sides and sauce was extremely plentiful and very well cooked and presented. This was a family lunch, parking was good and all the staff were very friendly and professional. Great value for money

More like a youth club than a pub.. no atmosphere and staff that are just there for the money.. the whole place needs some big money spent on it. Looking old and tired.. nothing has changed in years..

This is a really lovely pub, I come here on a regular basis and the food is always perfect! Staff are always friendly, the gammon is my favourite!

Visited here on Saturday 31st August 2024 at 15:30 the place was deserted which I thought was strange. After waiting 10 minutes for someone to attend to be seated, we were then told we would have to sit outside. The tables was dirty, chewing gum stuck to tables full of cobwebs. We eventually ordered food for 4 children and 4 adults costing £77.72p without drinks. When the food started to arrive in 10 minute intervals, i was absolutely disgusted to be served burnt black toast with a full breakfast, and then the fried eggs on the other breakfast and the mix grills was shameful. Even to be put on the plates were disturbing. They was harder than a boiled egg and the steak was over cooked and couldnt even chew it. The gammon was raw, The chicken was that dry it was impossible to swallow it and the sausages were absolutely heated up in the microwave, as they were like rubber batons. The kids cheeseburger meals was like rubber, which you couldnt even cut with a knife and could bounced off the wall. What a complete and utter waste of money,every meal was so badly cooked like a child had cooked it and all meals were left and uneaten. We had to go elsewhere for a proper meal we could actually eat!! I wouldn't ever return here!!!!

A lovely meal with the family. Friendly staff and just a nice place to eat. Very clean and a nice beer garden. Very reasonable price wise but the quality of the food from the kitchen was better than my local Hungry Horse.

So me and my wife had a hotel booked in the area and thought we would stop in for lunch as we were hungry and followed the signs to the pub. We were happy with the price of the food and the food quality was also good. For the price and quality we were very impressed . Staff were very helpful and friendly . Overall, if I was passing again I would definitely stop in again. I think it was £31 for two sizzler meals, a coke, and a pint of sanmiguel

Wonderful staff, love the new shelf service for your forks and stuff. Love the jacket potatoes and family meal deal. Kudos to the small crew kacey and Amy, perhaps need more help but that's a corporate decision. Well done all will be back before the end of the summer break.

Poor service, according to locals is the norm as never enough staff. Poor service meant our main meal was cold , my steak came with a small portion of chips 2 onion rings and about 24 peas, not sure why they bothered. Had to queue to order,had to queue for cutlery,had to queue for drinks, even longer queue to pay. Absolute joke. All down to lack of staff. Shamble by name, definitely was

Visited for a drink today. My husband ordered 1.5 pints of Pilsner and 2 bags of crisps for which he was charged £12.10. When we were nearly home, we realised we were overcharged or you are a very expensive pub! We sat outside in a rather uncared for garden - a good sweep, paint the tables/seats and plant some flowers and it would it look more inviting. This was one of our first visits here in decades and we are disappointed. It used to be such a lovely pub that we visited frequestly. Our impression is that now it thrives on cheap, calorific food for families with children but doesn't cater for the rest of us who would still like to go out for a meal and drink but have more healthy options in a pleasant, cared for environment.

The staff were absolutely amazing despite how busy it was, can't beat the daily deals and the drinks are so cheap.will always return and reccomend

Faith and Billie provided excellent service, can’t believe the feed the family for £15 pound deal! Kids were so happy with their meals and toys- perfected place to feed the family for cheaper than shopping!

Came in today and was served by Billie- all the staff’s service was great despite how busy it was! Did the feed the family for £15 deal which is a bargain, food came out quickly and was spot on.

Booked a table and the pub was busy on arrival. The staff were working hard and managed to get everyone served with a smile. We were told there could be a long wait for food but it came in no time at all. Good and freshly cooked. So well done to the team on a very hot day.

Food was ok. I had the jerk chicken which was a little dry but edible. Everyone else's food was fine. We sat at table six and the bench seats coving was ripped and falling off.

Came back and tried the cheeseburger quesadilla the other day! Was great!

I'm not a fussy eater. Food was really bad. Service was good, lovely staff. Price is excellent. I enjoy anything from specialist burger bars to Rustlers in a microwave. This is the first time I couldn't finish a burger. Like a solid slab of beef fat between two dry buns. Impressive really. Onion rings were grand though. Just never walked away from a burger before. Life changing.

I did not say it was very very rude not to serve sandwiches. I said her behaviour and the way she spoke to customers was very rude. The sign in the window could have been from a different day. Furthermore we booked a table a week prior so we should have gotten an email or phone call to let us know so we wouldn’t have come all that way. You obviously think it’s ok for staff to treat customers like that. Absolutely disgusting. Myself and two coworkers came here yesterday for her farewell lunch. As we got to the entrance there was a sign in the window saying kitchen closed. However, there was a big board menu displayed outside. When we arrived from so far we decided to still go in and ask regarding the sign on the door. My friend asked the lady at the front of the house and her response was well you can see the big sign in the window. That was very rude and bad customer service. The kitchen may have been closed but they may have been serving sandwiches or finger foods. That was very very rude and not necessary. And that is brilliant way to loose customers.

We went for lunch today 6/7/24 and it was made perfect with the service given by Katie - nothing was too much trouble from taking the order and making sure the order was right to bringing the drinks and making sure we had enough sugar and checking everything was ok - Thankyou Katie - you are an asset to this pub and I hope they value you -well done

Never been here before, had our wake here, staff and locals have been nothing but accommodating and respectful.. beer was amazing and food was nothing to pull your nose up to.. Katie & Kacey were absolutely brilliant! Will 10/10 come back here when I can!

Been there twice in recent weeks as a pub restaurant I'd be hard placed to go elsewhere

We were only able to get a booking for 8pm the food was delivered quite quickly. We then went to try and order dessert only to find the kitchen closed at 9pm. The food whilst it was nice was basic. Burger and chips basically.

If you've visited Hungry Horse you know what to expect. The staff are friendly and the food comes out fast. It's a bit tired, but clean. If there was one criticism it would be they are often out of certain menu items when we visit and it always seems to be at least one thing we've chosen. It is a place we choose to go though sometimes with and sometimes without Tesco Clubcard vouchers, so we do recommend it if you're looking for a Hungry Horse pub and know what to expect from the chain.

The meal we had was very overly salty & seasoned but it was tasty and we had good service so can't complain as such 😄

Can I give a negative ratinv? Awful, awful, awful. Service was bad and as for the food, wouldnt even serve it to pigs. As an example how can anyone get veg sticks so wrong? They are so dry. It is not hard or time consuming to cut FRESH vegetables. Will never go back and would never recommend. Avoid at all costs. Truly awful.
