A lovely meal with the family. Friendly staff and just a nice place to eat. Very clean and a nice beer garden. Very reasonable price wise but the quality of the food from the kitchen was better than my local Hungry Horse.

Standard pub food. Felt a bit grotty.

So me and my wife had a hotel booked in the area and thought we would stop in for lunch as we were hungry and followed the signs to the pub. We were happy with the price of the food and the food quality was also good. For the price and quality we were very impressed . Staff were very helpful and friendly . Overall, if I was passing again I would definitely stop in again. I think it was £31 for two sizzler meals, a coke, and a pint of sanmiguel

Wonderful staff, love the new shelf service for your forks and stuff. Love the jacket potatoes and family meal deal. Kudos to the small crew kacey and Amy, perhaps need more help but that's a corporate decision. Well done all will be back before the end of the summer break.

Great Pub with a great atmosphere the staff are Helpful and polite. Even the maintenance man is a friendly soul with a smile on his face.

Poor service, according to locals is the norm as never enough staff. Poor service meant our main meal was cold , my steak came with a small portion of chips 2 onion rings and about 24 peas, not sure why they bothered. Had to queue to order,had to queue for cutlery,had to queue for drinks, even longer queue to pay. Absolute joke. All down to lack of staff. Shamble by name, definitely was

Visited for a drink today. My husband ordered 1.5 pints of Pilsner and 2 bags of crisps for which he was charged £12.10. When we were nearly home, we realised we were overcharged or you are a very expensive pub! We sat outside in a rather uncared for garden - a good sweep, paint the tables/seats and plant some flowers and it would it look more inviting. This was one of our first visits here in decades and we are disappointed. It used to be such a lovely pub that we visited frequestly. Our impression is that now it thrives on cheap, calorific food for families with children but doesn't cater for the rest of us who would still like to go out for a meal and drink but have more healthy options in a pleasant, cared for environment.

Booked a table and the pub was busy on arrival. The staff were working hard and managed to get everyone served with a smile. We were told there could be a long wait for food but it came in no time at all. Good and freshly cooked. So well done to the team on a very hot day.

Food was ok. I had the jerk chicken which was a little dry but edible. Everyone else's food was fine. We sat at table six and the bench seats coving was ripped and falling off.

Came back and tried the cheeseburger quesadilla the other day! Was great!

I'm not a fussy eater. Food was really bad. Service was good, lovely staff. Price is excellent. I enjoy anything from specialist burger bars to Rustlers in a microwave. This is the first time I couldn't finish a burger. Like a solid slab of beef fat between two dry buns. Impressive really. Onion rings were grand though. Just never walked away from a burger before. Life changing.

I did not say it was very very rude not to serve sandwiches. I said her behaviour and the way she spoke to customers was very rude. The sign in the window could have been from a different day. Furthermore we booked a table a week prior so we should have gotten an email or phone call to let us know so we wouldn’t have come all that way. You obviously think it’s ok for staff to treat customers like that. Absolutely disgusting. Myself and two coworkers came here yesterday for her farewell lunch. As we got to the entrance there was a sign in the window saying kitchen closed. However, there was a big board menu displayed outside. When we arrived from so far we decided to still go in and ask regarding the sign on the door. My friend asked the lady at the front of the house and her response was well you can see the big sign in the window. That was very rude and bad customer service. The kitchen may have been closed but they may have been serving sandwiches or finger foods. That was very very rude and not necessary. And that is brilliant way to loose customers.

Never been here before, had our wake here, staff and locals have been nothing but accommodating and respectful.. beer was amazing and food was nothing to pull your nose up to.. Katie & Kacey were absolutely brilliant! Will 10/10 come back here when I can!

We went for lunch today 6/7/24 and it was made perfect with the service given by Katie - nothing was too much trouble from taking the order and making sure the order was right to bringing the drinks and making sure we had enough sugar and checking everything was ok - Thankyou Katie - you are an asset to this pub and I hope they value you -well done

Been there twice in recent weeks as a pub restaurant I'd be hard placed to go elsewhere

We were only able to get a booking for 8pm the food was delivered quite quickly. We then went to try and order dessert only to find the kitchen closed at 9pm. The food whilst it was nice was basic. Burger and chips basically.

Absolutely outstanding service from Faith and Billie, big shout out to the chefs too the food was spot on! I often visit Hungry Horse pubs and the deals are always unbeatable. Would definitely recommend.

If you've visited Hungry Horse you know what to expect. The staff are friendly and the food comes out fast. It's a bit tired, but clean. If there was one criticism it would be they are often out of certain menu items when we visit and it always seems to be at least one thing we've chosen. It is a place we choose to go though sometimes with and sometimes without Tesco Clubcard vouchers, so we do recommend it if you're looking for a Hungry Horse pub and know what to expect from the chain.

Can I give a negative ratinv? Awful, awful, awful. Service was bad and as for the food, wouldnt even serve it to pigs. As an example how can anyone get veg sticks so wrong? They are so dry. It is not hard or time consuming to cut FRESH vegetables. Will never go back and would never recommend. Avoid at all costs. Truly awful.

When others turned us away, this wonderful pub allowed us in and my wife and I had wonderful food.

Not my cup of tea, to be honest. I prefer table service but it works for many. Again, bit of a pain having to go to the bar halfway through your meal. Superb for families, child-friendly, and affordable.

Food was well cooked and the service was excellent. We has arrived late after a long day driving and we were hoping they would still be open. We were seated and had ordered with about 5 minutes to spare. I have to say that their beef dripping gravy was delicious. If you want good quality pub food I would highly recommend many thanks. 👌 🙂 I also loved the candy mania sharing dessert not for the faint hearted.

Popped into the Shamblehurst while in the area and thought I'd try a Bacon Cheeseburger and for £9.19 I cannot complain! The staff from the moment I walked in were very friendly and welcoming! I was served by the lovely Faith, she was very professional and never stopped smiling throughout! The food was service was very quick too! The only negative I can leave is that the cheeseburger could do with a bit more cheese! In all, it's a hungry horse, very good prices for pub grub served with a smile!

Kieron the Manager has been amazing and excellent service, Rosie has been stunning with the service and orders, she has been great with interaction, Amy was also great with service and interaction, faith was also amazing, I've never been here before and all made me feel welcome and the place is immaculate would recommend

New visit 2nd May 2024. Tried the mixed grill again. The heart of a mixed grill should be the steak, I ordered medium steak and the miniscule offering was burnt and hard as a hockey puck, in fact I've had less chewy hockey pucks. Continually disappointed but revisit occasionally in the hope of improvement. EDIT AGAIN: Decided to try lunch today. Ordered the mixed grill, it arrived without the steak and I ended up feeling like a complainer for asking for it, the rest of my meal had to wait while a steak was found which was well done and not the medium I ordered. Early lunchtime so the place was quiet enough for mistakes not to happen. It feels like every visit is a potential cocktup. Shame. EDIT. Was asked to come back by Kieron & the team, this evening they knocked it out of the park, great service and lovely food. Thank you to all at The Shamblehurst Barn. A lovely, value for money meal. First visit for 2023 and it may be the last. Has the Barn changed hands? The food was shocking, the fish supper (my meal) had fish that was pretty much all batter and about a 5mm streak of fish running through the middle, the bread was stale, the scampi was soggy, but worse of all the mushy peas were absolutely stone cold, to the point of having them replaced by some tepid ones instead. My dining partner had the sizzling chicken skewers that weren’t sizzling and had no accompanying peppers or onions at all and were really dry. This is an edited review, from where I was praising the food (given the price point) to this review where I wouldn’t recommend at all. We left the food half eaten and feel robbed of what it cost. Avoid this place if you want any value for money at all.

Food was cold and was more like a microwave meal, server put a steak knife down right in front of my 2 year old, not a great idea, and asked for a few bits to come out with the mains and still got them 10min before meal, under cooked steak over cooked chicken and kids meal had no gravy as advertised in menu leaving a dry bland meal, safe to say I won't be rushing back with the family again

Shamblehurst barn is definitely a go. Apr 2024 • Friends First time visitor. Easy parking. Pleasant and relaxed atmosphere on arrival. Seated within minutes. Excellent service with respect and kindness from all frount of house staff. Food we could not fault. Fast service between meals. Warmed plates. Hot and tasty food confirmed by all guests. Compliments and respect to all kitchen as the work they put in producing a menu so vast with unlimited choices and good presentation with care def needs to be mentioned. We will definitely be returning soon. Great value for money. Well done to All the team to make our visit so enjoyable.

Found this delightful little Pub by mistake well worth the drive from Portsmouth. Had a meal for two which was amazing. then decided to bring the Grandsons ( teenagers 12 and 17 ) who are very fussy eaters They both cleared their plates and said could we come here again One had cheese burger with no frills the other curry I had chicken burger and my Husband mini mixed grill ( nothing mini about it ) Then they had the horseshoe donuts and apple/ berry crumble The staff were very efficient polite and service with a genuine smile A big shout out to the chefs/ kitchen staff too Now booked for a birthday meal next month

Pretty disappointed as always quite often .8 days before table booked for Sunday roast at 1300hrs yeipee as newly moved Shamblehurst is one and only closest to us just 5 mins walk from home. Understood for couple of times mistaken order. But it’s happening every time. Table was not even booked, staff cannot allocate us where to sit. Pre booked table for Sunday Roast.Poor Staff approached at peak of lunch time and says sorry ran out of beef??? Offered us alternative selection .The alternative was even worst 😢 Don’t know how to take this? We are newly moved to this place. And this is not only the one disappointment we have experienced, multiple times ,thats the reason we are reviewing. I had rice on my side plate when I ordered sizzler..So disappointing.. is this really supposed to be? or its genuinely carelessness.Next time gather evidence.

Wow what isn’t great about the shamblehurst barn, comfortably the best barn in the south. Amazing staff, phenomenal food and an even better atmosphere would highly recommend if you’re hungry. I can’t wait to return and reignite the missing spark of the shamblehurst barn!!!!

We arrived really hungry, we have been coming here it seems for ever, but sad on occasions we were unable to get a table. The food is good filling as well as tasty, normally with a glass of wine we relax, but it wasn't to be, cheese on toast at home, but wasn't the same

Just had an amazing meal. I had the Tandori Sizzler. Billy and Amy were lovely and the service was quick. Thanks also to the hard working chefs.
