2nd visit after a previously wonderful experience as a couple,this time with friends and family Total contrast .....greasy pakoras (3 portions on the table...no sauces) Bhajis ....some people's were raw ,one was burnt and raw inside My madras...a 60/40 mix of chicken pieces with huge chunks of tomato The naan bread was the only positive We were very disappointed The staff this time weren't any from the previous time and I'm not aware of it being taken over so why was it so slow ...the naan and rice coming out 5 minutes after the mains The restaurant wasn't full for a Saturday and we had an hour interval between courses Not knocking the staff but come on guys....you can get it right so why was this time so terrible ....won't be back I'm afraid

Had a wonderful meal here on a date night. The food tasted freshly cooked with delicious flavours and we were very well looked after by the staff. A lovely experience.

Ordered a takeaway from this restaurant as have been in there before a year or so ago and the service and food was great. However I was less then impressed with the curry me and my partner had. We both ordered two different jalfrezis and there was no flavour to either of them whatsoever just loads of tomatoes and peppers tasted more like spaghetti bolognese with rice and no seasoning. Even ordered at mildly hot you should still be able to taste SOME spice. Neither of us could finish it was the blandest curry I have ever had. Will avoid in future.

I ordered a takeaway. The food was cold and the madras curry and dopiaze curry. Tasted horrible. I will not order from there anymore.

Disappointing - we ordered a take out directly with the restaurants website, it came 2 hours later after being advised it would only take 45 mins. We called to chase and the guy on the phone said it's on its way, which it wasn't. Finally another 45 mins later a guy turned up, no apology just a cold overpriced curry. Definitely not worth the money, or the wait.

Wow wow wow! This really is the best the Indian restaurant anywhere. Fantastic friendly family run business, curries to die for and reasonable prices. Recommend followed by a few drinks over the railway to the Grizzly Bear!

Visited Bank holiday Monday for a birthday meal . Can honestly say it was the perfect end to a perfect day . The service was outstanding we were made very welcome . The food matched the service . Apologies for the doggy bags we were all so full . Will certainly be returning often .

A great restaurant although the portion sizes of the curry and rice are bit on the small side. Not a lot of chicken in the curry, and the few pieces of chicken were on the small side. I had a vindaloo curry, but it wasn’t prepared to a hot flavour. Onion bhajis were very good.

Another delicious meal this evening. They delivered excellent service despite being fully booked, something that many restaurants can’t cope with, Shaan made it look easy. Many happy customers, warm friendly ambience. They serve delicious food from British Indian staples to genuine south Asian speciality dishes, so good!

Lovely friendly place to have a meal with friends. Staff are so warm and welcoming. We have been before and it did not disappoint this time. We went as a group of 6 and all the food was served together lovely hot and tasty!! Could not fault the food or service and had a lovely get together . Thoroughly recommend

Went in and ordered Chicken Tikka ,Rice ,Nan,Popadum and a portion of Onion Bhaji last eve ,,Food was not inviting ,Bhaji all dried up ,2 small pieces of Chicken in the sauce ,which really didnt have much taste as for the chicken it was tough and dry , Just under £18 this cost me for one person ,,VERDICT RUBBISH threw most in bin

Went there as a party of seven apart from getting the order wrong we had over an hour wait once we ordered and they were not busy other couples came and went before we were served

Ordered meal for delivery tonight 26/03 after more than 3 hours waiting nothing arrived, eventually went to place to get money back, they informed wrong address, This is rubbish as when we phoned 3 times to chase up we gave the correct address each time. We will not be using them ever again.

Went for dinner on a Saturday night, when we first arrived at 7.30pm it was quiet but 30minutes later it was full, I am glad we booked. To start my wife chose the Shamee Kebab and I had my usual Prawn Puree both were a good size starter and very tasty. For mains we had Lamb Balti and Lamb Pathia, we both had a Naan, Peshwari & Keema, and shared a Pilaw rice & Onion Bhaji. We both enjoyed our curries and the Keema Nan was loaded with minced Lamb. We did not have room for a desert but hopefully next time we will as they all looked good. The service was very quick and all the staff were friendly. We will be going back.

Since my wife and I moved to Worthing five years ago, we have come to recognise the Shaan Restaurant, deservedly as the best Indian food for miles around. We have tried others, but none have reached the same standard of taste, great menu choice and welcoming environment as the Shaan. It is now our No.1 go to eating place. The only problem that I have is that it's reputation is spreading and that, unless I want to order a Take Away, I now have to ensure that I book before going in order to guarantee a table. So please, if you are reading this, keep this news to yourself!

We didn't book. Just walked in and as we were fairly early we were ok. It did get very busy later. We were greeted by Lima who owns the restaurant with her husband and then shown to our seats. The menu had some new dishes on it which we triec. Paneer Tikka - nice and different. I had Chicken Palak as a main - chicken, chillies, spinach and coriander really tasty. Hubby had Chicken Kalua - chicken, onions and lots of garlic and chillies. The food was very tasty. Luna came over at the end of the meal and genuinely wanted to know what we thought of the food.

Our second visit in a couple of months. Good welcome and friendly service. The food here is very good with dishes which you don't find elsewhere, interesting flavours without excessive heat or spices. Will visit again.

I've been visting Shaan for several years now and every time a good experience. As someone who has eaten curry for many many years in various places it is at the top of the my list in the UK, brought a friend there and he was going back twice a week :) Recommendations are Murgh Bazan, Jalfry, Biryani, the Vindaloo actually has taste without it being just an inferno. I haven't tried many of the Chefs specials but expect they will be just as good.

Tried all the restaurants in Worthing but always compare to here as it's consistently excellent. It's always a pleasure to dine in as the staff are so friendly and welcoming.Weekends get busy so would recomend booking.

I ordered a large takeaway in September for a family celebration but a few of the items were missing. I phoned the restaurant to let them know, the lady apologised and I was assured that they would be taken off our next order. (She offered to have them delivered but by this point we had already started to eat).

Really disappointed. Had been looking forwards to the meal after hearing good reviews. Had to remind waiter about our drink order as we had finished the popadoms and we hadn't have them yet. 40 minutes after ordering had to ask if starters coming soon. When finally served one out of two was the wrong one. They apologized said we could have it on the house and they'll serve the correct one. When main mealsx3 finally arrived they brought an extra dish we hadn't order. Appolling service, no eye contact, even though plenty of waiting staff for amount of tables had to wave to get their attention. Food quality was ok (even though wrong items served) but nothing to write home about. Tandoori grill was the best the rest just ok. Didn't order desserts or coffee as planned as we wanted to leave the place before breakfast . After paying the bill waiter offered Christmas leaflet, I said Thanks I won't be coming back, he just shrugged his shoulders, I said: Is that all you have to say, he said: We tried our best. I told him I've worked in catering so aware of industry ways. He obviously didn't care. Often I would give restaurants a second chance but with that attitude No Way!!! Felt I wasted my money Hope you don't make the same mistake.

I have been coming here for years. First discovered it when I lived in Brighton. It was local to one of my friends. Food is great. Not greasy, really tasty and service is always fantastic. Great for takeaway too. Brilliant for vegetarians.

Came down to Worthing for a wedding. The b and b we stayed in recommended the Shaan restaurant. We're we're welcomed in by very friendly staff who found us a suitable table. We're we're greeted with friendly locals who were obviously regulars. After a short wait (I've got to say shorter than expected as the restaurant was full) the starters arrived which were delicious followed by an equally delicious main course. Upon completing or meal a member of staff who turned out to be the owner took the time to introduce herself to us and after quite a lengthy chat was delighted yo find that we came from the same area in the north. All in all this is a fantastically family run restaurant where nothing is too much trouble and the food is exceptional quality. Highly recommend a visit.

Popped in here early Sunday evening and was warmly greeted and shown to.our table.. Quick drink order food order... The meal arrived 20 minutes later and was all superb. The mushroom rice was amazing . Very friendly staff and lady owner, not too expensive and this is the best curry house. . Shall be back there soon.. 10/10

Because the company was so good, this was a lovely evening....& the food was delicious-nothing particularly out of the ordinary, but tasty well spiced curries. The only snag with the Shaan was the service. The welcome we received didn’t feel it was really meant & we had to wait longer than I would have liked for not only ordering, but then our drinks, then our meals & finally the bill. Annoying.

I was today in this restaurant and staff is very very bad with us. We order drinks at some starters food, and he was starting to posh us for more food. We speak with the boss and he was very nice person. But he we left the restaurant only about the vetches. And I'm really not thinking to go any more to this restaurant.

This was our third visit, we agreed to try one more time after our previous visits have seen us waiting an hour for our mains to be served, it was once again very busy and the staff seemed stressed.

After moving to the area 1 year ago and trying all the curry places surrounding Goring, I have Finally found my favourite! Friendly & fast service. Great menu- so much to choose from. Delicious tasting food and really reasonable prices.

I called to make an order at 7.30pm this evening, i was told it would take an hour and ten minutes due to being busy, by 9.30pm i called the restaurant to be told they were waiting for a driver. By 10pm there was still no food. It finally arrived 10.10pm. My children had gone to sleep so missed the meal. The portions were small, cold and not worth the money i was charged. As an apology they supplied me with a bottle of bubbles which turned out to be a cheap indian beer! Very disappointed for what usually is a great curry and great service.

The Shaan Indian restaurant is my local curry house, and I visited for the first time one evening between Christmas and New Year.

Had been meaning to go to Shaan for a while. Popped in early (just after 5pm) on way back from a hospital appointment for something quick rather than a main night out. It was of course quiet at that time, but service was friendly and good and even on a Tuesday quite a few people had come in by the time we left. We had a some popadums and shared a mixed starter (very good). Then we just had two simple mains, a pilau rice and chili nan. All good and as expected, as was the general decor and atmosphere. Would happily go back again, as I would to a couple of other good Indian restaurants in Worthing - we are quite fortunate really.

The restaurant feels very spacious, the staff are really polite and helpful when choosing a new dish.

This place is a bit of a hidden gem tucked away in West Worthing. Excellent food with some great dishes on the specials menu. Haven’t eaten in, only takeaway collections but the restaurant is nicely decorated and clean, staff are friendly. The food does not leave me with that curry hangover feeling the next day which is a nice bonus!

As a northerner who moved to West Sussex some time ago I had almost given up looking for an Asian restaurant that produced the flavour and kick that many of the restaurants with Pakistani chefs produce further north. Locals kept saying to me things like, "really? Have you tried the Mahaan?" I did try the Mahaan and not to do them down, but they also did not live up to what I was looking for. Then I stumbled across the Shaan; it is not in the town centre which is its biggest problem in that people would not pass it and perhaps do not even know it exists which is a shame as I very quickly decided that the Shaan is the best Asian restaurant not only in Worthing but in the surrounding area. I was visited by a friend from the north recently and we visited the Shaan; I recommended the Pathia and he absolutely loved it! I was pleased to learn that the chef won a national award in 2017. If you fancy a very good curry at a very good price, and especially if you have not yet visited, you could do far worse than giving the Shaan a try.

Don’t bother. Two hours and three phone calls later curry actually turned up. Apparently delivered to another address with the same postcode. Really?? Such a shame, good meal but won’t use again. 6/8/2018.

The food is really nice and I enjoyed everything I had. Few Cobra beers too. The setting is clean and modern so this is a lovely place to go with any party. Service is leisurely. If you are in a hurry then beware. If you are out for an enjoyable evening where the pace is not important then this is ideal. I will be going again for sure.

We had never tried this restaurant before, the food was superb, we were told everything was cooked from scratch so we were very happy to wait for it. The atmosphere is excellent, staff were friendly, polite and very helpful. The portions are large, I could not finish my meal, so we offered a doggy bag to take the food home. The menu is great with a lot of choices, we all loved it and can't wait for our next visit.

We pick up a take away often from the Shaan it’s so popular and loved we have started to call it a Shaanaway. Tonight was no except totally perfect in every way . I have been to many Indian restaurants and we have visited regularly. Their service in the restaurant is brilliant too . Just sometimes we enjoy a cosy night in and a shaanaway. If you not sure go try enjoy and like us become regulars whether eat in or take away. The restaurant has won many awards and rightly so. I so would like to create a hash tag #shaanaway for Indian takeaway . Only set back I don’t do Twitter . But my lovely owners at Shaan another 10/10 performance thank you so much!!!

Saturday night dinner for two. Nice looking restaurant in an area that is in need of a few more night time bars and eateries. Food good, service not too slow, bill reasonable - what's not to like? Well, one issue, and not one that's confined to this restaurant, is that they seem to see couples as a bit of a nuisance. They won't give you a table for four, because four people might come in and spend more, so they keep a reserve of two-seater tables in not-so-good areas, like the middle of the room by the walkway. Are couples 2nd class citizens compared to groups? This would't put me off going again, I like the place, but weekdays may be a better bet if there's only two of you.

Visited this restaurant for the first time last night- Saturday. Table was booked for 7.15 but we were a little early. The greeting was warm; the atmosphere pleasant . Our drinks order was taken promptly and arrived quickly, together with our popodums/ pickles. Main course orders were taken and everything was going well. Initially several members of staff visited our table to check that orders had been taken , including the owner's wife who was very welcoming .

I don't want to start off negatively so will say from the outset that all of the curries we had were really tasty and served hot. However we won't be returning as the time we had to wait to get served (having booked a table), and wait for drinks and then finally for the food was beyond ridiculous. Even when we asked for more drinks we were ignored and had to ask again 20 minutes later. Maybe it falls prey to being popular for takeaways too and the kitchen can't cope with the demand, but with the restaurant only 3/4 full it wasn't acceptable. One waiter who appeared to be in charge was polite when we did get his attention, another was fed up and grumpy! Such a shame.

I love this place. Although the road it is on looks a bit rough the restaurant is not! The restaurant is always immaculate.The staff are charming and friendly. The food is always delicious and we have eaten in and had taken away. We go as often as we can. I highly recommend it.

This is our local indian and we were regulars here until a few years back when the food took a turn for the worse. Encouraged by the reviews on here we visited again and the food was brilliant which makes it such a shame that everything else was so very very poor. If you like being ignored and made to feel like a bit of a nuisance then this is the place for you. Drinks took ages to arrive and when we finished no-one asked if we'd like more, we had to attract someones attention and order more and then, when the drinks still didn't arrive, we had to ask again, and then again when only half the order was brought. The food was really slow, no one cleared away our starters until our mains arrived and after our mains our table was cleared by a waiter who huffed and snorted as he did it. After that it just stopped. After 15 minutes of being ignored it became clear that no hot towels, deserts, coffees etc would be offered so we eventually caught someones eye and asked for the bill. When that didn't arrive we got up and stood over them whilst they wrote it out.

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful. The food is quick to come out with the great service Shaan offers! I would highly recommend - amazing staff, food and service.

The best curry and very friendly and fast service, frequent customer at this restaurant as well as a frequent user of their takeaway service. Very good for large and small groups and there is such a large variety to choose from in terms of dishes.

Visited the Shaan restaurant recently and left feeling nothing short of overjoyed! From start to finish, our experience was wonderful. We were warmly greeted by the lovely staff who were very attentive throughout the course of our evening - such a lovely family atmosphere.

It was almost empty when we arrived, more staff than customers. However the food came in a respectable time, bearing in mind its freshly cooked. The chicken palak was good as was the madras.

In May 2017, I made an online booking for a family Christmas meal for five people. I received confirmation twice via email, once in May and again on Christmas Eve. Today, when we arrived it was very clear that they had no table for us! They said they didn’t think we were coming and couldn’t contact me to confirm either way! Absolutely unbelievable and a disgrace on their part! Long story short, they asked an elderly couple on a four seater table to move so that we could have their table until a bigger one became available - they said about thirty minutes! We were seated at 1:00pm and drinks and popadums followed shortly after. Starters were served at 1:30pm, we were moved to a bigger table at 2:15pm, the Main Course was served at 3:15pm, Ice cream was served at 4:15pm, and Coffee was served at 4:30pm. In a nutshell, we were there for three and a half hours! The entire experience was very disappointing - not to mention embarrassing, especially having to show them the aforementioned confirmation emails via my smartphone! If we could have gone elsewhere we would have done so but being Christmas Day this was not an option!

Took 1 hr 50 mins for delivery half the curry was spilt in the bag. And nearly cold had to reheat everything. Not a happy customer waste of £28.50

The shaan is a great place to spend a leisurely evening. Not somewhere to go if you are in a hurry. The food is fresh and tasty with a lots of choice. My two issues are that the service is slow and the bill is never right. But we still go back because the food is so nice

I fancied a meal out last night and decided to come to Shaan.I had Duck Malayan with Mushroom Rice and Peshwari Nan. The food was really nice and the service was good. Shaan comes a very very close 2nd to Shafiques in my opionion.

Popped in here on the back of a Google search and must say we where not disappointed, the food was delicious across the board but the service was fantastic, staff where attentive and friendly, was nice to see a young lady with an obvious flair for hospitality running the show, will definitely visit again if we're in town.

I went to this establishment at 12:30 lunch it was my first time I walked in it was empty but the waiter said they were open he sat me down got me a nice cold pint cobra then took my order I had a garlic cheese nan which was very cheesy garlic really enjoyed it went down well with a hot king prawn madras very nice waiter from London excellent service will be back again with friends

Our first time visit to Shaan was spontaneous, but what a find. Service was really friendly, all of the food was fantastic and we had a wonderful evening. Duck Patia was especially good. We will return soon, I hope.Highly recommended.

Never had a bad meal here. Staff are friendly, hard working and lovely. Food is cooked to perfection and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Suitable for couples, parties and gatherings... even business meetings. would recommend to anyone who likes Indian food at its best.
