Excellent atmosphere great bar staff with dj every weekends and karaoke on a Wednesday and had a complete refurb love it 👍

Not changed in over 20 years,.Still smells like sick. Toilet tiles still cracked and broken exactly the same as 20 years ago.

Come here quite often for Karaoke on a Wednesday, nice atmosphere and friendly enough staff, can get quite busy at times but good enough for a bit of fun and a laugh!

Didn't eat here, but its not changed much since I last went there 20 years ago! Great music considering I now probably fall into the "old" category. 👵

Would never use this company bars as my partner has to listen to abuse when walking past there old city bar on way on from evening shift manager thinks it’s acceptable and owner avoid emails

conveniently located in the heart of the city, making it the perfect spot to pop in for a quick pint and catch a match. There are plenty of TVs strategically placed around the pub, ensuring that you won't miss any of the action. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in.

Rowdy pub frequented by youngsters getting drunk. Spoilt my first visit, I definitely won't be returning.

Good atmosphere and the first time I encountered the "Squashed frog", looks a bit dodgy but assured by others it tastes quite good (can't drink alcohol so volunteered the rest of my party to try)

Been here twice in the last couple of weeks, once in the day after England's first game and in the evening during my works Xmas bash and had a cracking time on each occasion.

Decent place to watch the football. Really relaxed atmosphere. And the Guinness is banging.

Barman made me feel really uncomfortable! Went here with the family, immediately as we walked into the outside area, barman walks in and says "no under 18's after 5pm because they get a bit rowdy" - We laugh this off (as we were all over 18) and we get our drinks, the ladies at the pub were really nice, we order drinks, I give one of them my ID and it's all good. We go back into the outside area and place my drink down and go to the toilet, as I'm walking past the bar, the barman is staring at me as I walk past, which made me feel really uncomfortable and discriminated against (considering the comment he made when we walked in), I had an England shirt on and I have a baby face (I'm 22), which probably made him think "young England fan, he's gonna start trouble", hence the inferiority complex. This is such a shame because the pub itself is really nice and the other staff in there were really nice and helpful, it's just a shame that this one person ruined my experience here a bit and safe to say, this puts me off coming back here, at least for a while. I get that rules are rules, and people have to be ID'd for a reason these days, but blatant discrimination against younger people because "they get rowdy" is totally unacceptable.

Nice pub good atmosphere karaoke was allot of fun on a Wednesday night.

Would recommend the squashed frog shot or the birthday cake shot! Great vibe on the weekend but please look after your drinks and dont be tempted to leave them unaccompanied when dancing. There are a couple staff members that always appear very uninterested and at sometimes rude also.

Saturday 19/02/22. Good service. Bought a round of 6 drinks. £29. Can't argue there. Doubles aswell. Famous for its "Squashed frogs". Go try one. Tastes far better than it looks!! Nothing major to review, good solid pub. It's as expected.

Went in there very drunk. Came out very drunk. Seemed like a nice place.

There was a few of us from 20 - 55 in age & everyone enjoyed it. We will definitely be popping in next time we are out in Canterbury

Not a bad pub, good selection of beers, nicely decorated and clean. Enough TVs to see sky sports from wherever you sit. Only gripe was staff seemed more interested in talking to friends than serving customers.

Great bar staff with a friendly atmosphere. They also have a pool table which is good for a game with friends. 3 years later, we still love Stars. It’s very much become our regular haunt. The staff are amazing, and always look after us!

No cask ales, more suitable for young people

Love this place and the staff. Good drink choice and lots of TV's for sport events. Signs up that do not allow track suits or caps.... Which I liked as ensured nicer clientele. Hidden and quiet when other places heaving busy, so a real gem.

Tyler is very unfriendly And should be replaced .beth should replace him and the pub will be busier food has started again so hopefully things will improve.

Such a great atmosphere! Particularly the manager who, I must say was looking buff as ever. Didn't realise how much of an impact a member of staff could have on my night.. but oh boy. Would highly recommend

Bar was fantastic... shame about the locals. The manger was VERY welcoming (and handsome). Made my night the joy that it was. Would recommend to anyone that wants fun with some eye candy thrown in

Visité este bar por primera vez la semana pasada y tuve una noche fabulosa! El personal fue rápido en sus pies y amable. Gran ambiente y diversión. Esa noche había parejas homosexuales que fueron tratadas sin indiferencia, el bar era muy inclusivo con todos los que estaban allí.

Magnífico bar donde tomarte una buenas pintan y ver un partido de fútbol.

Si te gusta el fútbol, este es tu sitio...puedes tomar una bebida (puedes elegir entre muchas opciones) y ver la tele desde cualquier ángulo. Lugar tranquilo.

Visité aquí con algunos de mis amigos para un cumpleaños de amigos y tuve una experiencia horrible.Los clientes nos arrojaron abusos homofóbicos y sexistas, nos llamaron diques y todos los nombres bajo el sol, y cuando el personal se dio cuenta de la situación, nos sacaron del pub en lugar de los que estaban siendo abusivos. Uno de los empleados se rió con ellos.Aquí no hay servicio al cliente ni atención para el bienestar, sugiero que todos eviten este lugar a toda costa. (Esto sucedió hace una semana y todavía estamos esperando una disculpa)

Sports bar with little in the way of cask ale. I was the only person in at 1 pm on a Monday lunchtime. Bright and airy but nothing made me want to go back.

Great cider selection and prices were good. They also were very friendly, put a game on just for us, and let us stay later. Would come back!

Says it all in the title really. Been coming to this pub for years but the last 3 visits have been appalling. We finished off here for my hen do on Saturday to be faced with a miserable, rude and abusive barman. As you can imagine a group of 18 of us spent a hell of a lot of money here. One round of shots came to £74 put it that way!! Brought it to the attention of the ‘manager’ who also presented with a lack of interest or professionalism. Had 3 further big nights out planned here for the summer - definitely not now! Would rather spend my money and time elsewhere! A bit of advice... please, thank you and a bit of banter go hand in hand when providing a service! Shape up!

Awful place, uncomfortable seating, everyone in there shouting at each other. Fights between drunken people breaking out all over the place. Toilets absolutely disgusting and full of people taking drugs.

One star would be to generous. The bar staff are blatantly not putting the spirits in your spirit and mixers. It became clear that this was happening and on one occasion they were so bold that they gave my friend a glass of ice and a tonic and charged for a gin and tonic. Robbing b******s

A nice quiet and well run pub. The way a real English pub should be, none of this Gastro or wine bar stuff!!! Bring back spit and sawdust!!

Reasonable prices for drinks. Nice open space. Pretty standard due a pub, I'd recommend.

Busy pub, just off the centre of town. Several real ales and good variety of other beers. It also shows the football. Definitely too busy for a quiet drink, but worth a visit if you want somewhere a bit more lively.

To the point, rude uninterested staff with absolutely no manners. Toilets, well I opened the door and left again as they men’s was so disgusting. Being 2pm on a Monday afternoon there is no excuse.Drinks ok, but will never return as far better choices in Canterbury.

Hemos pasado un día en Canterbury y la oferta en restauración es variada, pero pasábamos por delante de este y nos gustó. La verdad es que fue una grata sorpresa. El menú es bueno. Tuvimos que pedir en la barra pero luego te sirven la comida en mesa. El plato de fish and chips es enorme y está bien cocinado, acompañado con berros, patatas fritas (de las de verdad), guisantes y salsa tártara a parte. El menú infantil sin embargo es muy básico y de poca calidad. El precio es el habitual en este tipo de restaurantes. Recomendable.

Sports bar really...good for a footy match or a pub crawl

Frankly this is a lager pub (brewery chain owned). Ales are bland s**t & scream. However I still use the place as a convenient pub to meet friends and have something basic and filling to eat. Neither the beer or the food are great but there are so few pubs in central Canterbury, this is the kind of place with fake medieval decor (somewhere behind all that plastic pastiche there is a genuine ancient building) that one is left with. Basically it's this kind of place or Wetherspoons. Few real pubs left, but those there are you will find in back-streets, or in St Dunstan's. Sad state of affairs.

The service was the first thing that struck me. The lady that served us was nice and friendly but the taller guy wasn't great. I felt like an inconvenience to him. We ordered and Sat down, was then told they don't have a certain dish, he also didn't smile once, such a shame as the location is great for this placeThe price and portion sizes were great and couldn't be better so it wasn't all bad. I just found the food a little bland. It almost felt like the food didn't want to be there, just like the guy that served us

Very dark had to wait a while to get served in a quiet pub wasn't asked what gin I wanted was just given Gordon's.

Fantastic sports bar/pub, I go there a lot and the staff are always great fun. Good music, great food, high standards of cleanliness, and a brilliant atmosphere.

Very friendly/welcoming staff, good selection of drinks loads of seating inside and out and a good place to watch any kind of sporting event.

went here as part of day out in Canterbury, arrived for start of champions league final, place was mobbed but good atmosphere, nightmare getting served , watched first half then left

Loads of seating. Courtyard garden. VERY clean. Pleanty of screens everywhere you sat you could see at least one. Good swlection of lesser seen beers. Garden is well kept. Used mainly for smoking but if u can handle that, its sociabke and a good place to mix. Pool table isnt ideally located but ok for a laugh and a sociabke game. Few machines dotted about and bar staff were adiquate to the task.

Shame about the language of some of the locals. Rather spoilt our visit.

I was served a Mojito which quite frankly was disgusting. It was bitter and the mint was black and wilting. When I mentioned this to the barmaid she said they had run out of sugar syrup so had made it with brown sugar which was just sitting on the bottom of the glass. We asked for our money back or for another drink as we could not drink these. When miraculously a bottle of sugar syrup appeared. This made no difference to an already inferior drink. We asked for our money back and was told this is how we make it. Both myself and friend said No it is not how a mojiyo should taste. She said we are not a cocktail bar. I said then don't advertise cocktails if you cannot make them properly. Her customer service was zero. She was rude and did not care at all. I asked to speak to tbe manager and was told she was the supervisor. Well i say to the manager if you put this rude, incompetent girl in charge of your pub you are going to lose a lot of custom. I will never frequent this pub again. I wikk also advise anyone else to give it a miss. Go to Bramleys over the road. Supberb customer service and an extremely nice mojito.
