Seed Room in Wakefield

We really enjoyed our quick visit for breakfast. We were able to pick and mix off the "extras" list - we both got egg and hash brown on one slice of toast and an extra slice of toast with preserve, which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was really nice to get what we wanted with very pleasant and efficient service in a light airy space. Would fully recommend.

I think it’s our 4th visit to the seed room and seems to get better each time, only problem we had was choosing what to have as everything looked good. Staff friendly and helpful and place spotlessly clean

Excellent food & service in a location you would never expect. Visited on Mothering Sunday so booked well in advance. We have been once before so knew it was a good choice. The menu selection is different from the usual multi national suppliers, being fresh & inovative and at an acceptable price. The quality of the food is excellent and resonably priced. The staff are efficient and freindly. I can't recommend it enough!

I like to come to Seeds when I get the opportunity, the staff are great and the food is always good. It can get busy so it's a good idea to book a table, especially if you are having afternoon tea. Afternoon tea is definitely worth having... delicious.

Just had a delicious, delightful lunch at this gem of a place. My wife and I enjoyed our meals ordered from their special menu. The cakes on display are also tempting. A clean, bright cafe with views of farm land overlooking Horbury.

We called in for a sandwich, but due to the huge size of the place and lack of any kind of soft furnishings to deaden the sound we found it to be incredibly noisy. Tables are very close together and we were surprised at the plainness of the surroundings. Just stark white with nothing to give it any kind of character. We ordered two panini which were quite tasty but incredibly hard, so we didn’t really enjoy them. My main gripe however was with the abrupt and unsmiling young woman who took our order. Honestly she looked as if she just didn’t want to be there. We always visit the garden centre which is great but wouldn’t go back to the cafe

Good food, service very good. The portions were generous. I personally thought the uncomfortable chairs were a bit too close together. When the person behind me move, their chair hit mine. Not their fault. They were just too close together.

Food was good but the bread wasn't up to their normal standards.

My fiance works here and took me here for my birthday. Visited England for a week. First time having an Afternoon Tea and it was amazing. The staff wanted to meet me while I visited. They was all lovely. The best thing I ate was the salmon sandwich that was part of the Afternoon tea. Probably the best thing I ever had. Their cream cheese and chives pulled it off greatly. The other sandwiches was amazing and the soup was great. I loved trying scones with cream and jam for the first time. The food is great. I think the tea cups and plates are adorable. I had a great time! Thank you! I also love the natural lighting and atmosphere of the place. Thank you so much!

Upon entering, as a walk-in party of 11, the staff were prompt in offering us the options for seating arrangements to suit our needs best. The offers of drinks, and the speed of receiving them was swift, especially considering the beginning of Dinner service and the relatively busy service. The whole table enjoyed their meal, with almost the entire table opting to choose something different. My Open Steak Sandwich was presented beautifully. The steak cooked perfectly, and balanced well by the Button Mushrooms and Caramelised Red Onion; this is a testament to the skill of the chef, and not a single person at our table had anything but positive feedback for their meal. Strongly recommend this eatery if you enjoy good food and excellent service. If you are passing through, especially given its convenience to a beautiful Garden Centre, stop in for a bite.

First visit. What a wonderful place to eat! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit today. Ourselves and our friends all had panini, salad and coleslaw. It was delicious! The wedges are amazing, especially with the sour cream and chive on the side, nice touch 👌. I love the fact you put the wedges and chips in the little plant pots, that was great. You have some wonderful staff that look very smartly dressed and work very fast and efficient. The mature lady with brown hair, sorry I didn’t catch her name, she was very smiley and pleasant and seems like a lovely member of staff to have. 5* for food and service. If you are ever in the area you won’t be sorry. I do wish the specials board was a little bit more noticeable or in view when entering. We were trying to work out what a dish that looked really popular as it was flying out. Then we realised when people kept standing near our table that the specials board was behind us and that a lot of people were having the open steak sandwich. It looked amazing!! We would have gone for that if we’d known. We really enjoyed what we had anyway, so please don’t think that was a complaint as it wasn’t. Thank you for a lovely experience.

Busy but you get a table browse while you wait

A clean environment, tasty breakfast and friendly staff. A shame a piece of toast isn’t included, especially with the double breakfast, but still worth five stars. Coffee pretty good too.

My wife and I have used the Seed Room for quite a while now since it first opened, it has gone from strength to strength over the years, improving and expanding into what is now a great cafe bistro. All the staff are friendly and efficient serving simply the best freshly prepared food every time we visit. Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year to you all.

The Seed Room would stand alone as a cafe/restaurant. It is a fantastic addition to the garden centre. There is a great selection of well cooked dishes, using top quality ingredients. The staff are friendly and professional. Prices are reasonable and cakes etc are to due for.

Fabulous early Christmas dinner today at the Seed Room. Never disappoints. Great friendly service and excellent coffee too. Thoroughly recommended! I think some of the people leaving negative reviews must either be very very hard to please or confused as to where they have visited.

3 Course Christmas Dinner; fabulous. Excellent value for money and brilliant staff. Good choice of meals and delightful desserts. Staff great too; well done to all involved and to Rachel for managing the event like clockwork.

Great place to visit both the seed room and the garden centre. (Horticentre). Friendly staff, but the seed room can get busy. Plenty of parking. And easy access.

The food here is always really good and the staff are lovely. The toilets are the stinkiest toilets in the land, a bit grubby looking as well. Some attention should really be paid to this as it’s letting the place down. Everything else is great.

The extension makes it look huge and is better for it. The prices are very reasonable and the food is beautiful. They have a varied selection of items for glutenfree customers like myself.

We've been here many times and the story is always the same: good cooking, especially of the daily specials, and friendly, welcoming service. Today's specials including excellent pie and peas, and a smoked ham hock salad with pork crackling, black pudding and a beautifully dressed salad. By any standards this is good restaurant-style food – but at affordable prices. Not surprisingly, the airy, open room was packed today, but the dishes arrived promptly. Cracking spot.

I joined a party for a golden wedding for 30 people. We all had afternoon tea. The service was amazing and the food outstanding. Everyone had a lovely time in a lovely place. Thankyou so much. You will be highly recommended.

Our 2nd visit with friends to find the restaurant extended and spacious and very comfortable. The menu was excellent with a variety of choices well prepared and presented and very good value. My choice of a Bacon Chop was delicious and all our party enjoyed their selections. We will certainly re-visit in the near future with the addition of visiting the garden centre.

Not a pleasant experience when the chef feels the need to come out of his kitchen and shout at his customers. One small comment about my food and I was made to feel tiny, embarrassed and upset. If you can’t go to a restaurant (or cafe as this is) and pass a comment on, surely that’s a reflection on him. My food wasn’t quite right yet I didn’t ask for a refund, I didn’t make a fuss, I just said a few words. I paid up and left in tears. I will never go back. Humiliated.

Rude chef who cannot take criticism. I made a small comment about my dish and before I knew it, he was out and shouting at me. I was made to feel very small. Left in tears. See Trip Advisor reviews. It is completely true.

Come here regularly for a catch up with friends. Always friendly staff great selection of coffee and food. Cakes are fabulous. Always take one home. 😋

We thought we would try this cafe again as we had not been here in a while. We were greeted by a friendly and polite member of staff and shown promptly to a table. The selection of food is quite wide and a great selection of pasties and cakes. You order at the till but you have to set your own table as cutlery isn't provided by the staff. The cafe is very well spaced out and you can feel quite comfortable and relaxed They also have comfortable sofa type chairs to sit on. I would say probably best to book these if possible. I ordered the 8oz bacon joint and we also had risotto. The latte I had was really good My food was very well cooked and served hot. It was really tasty 😋 My partner said the risotto was served hot and was very good. Overall it was a great experience and definitely will be going back. Price wise this cafe is at the top of the price scale so best to be aware before hand. The quality is definitely worth paying for. ❤️❤️😋😋 Well deserved 5 stars from me

Set inside the Horticentre, Quite a big seating area which is deceptive from the front. Plenty of parking on lower parking area which is situated just behind the Seed Room cafe. Very pleasant and spacious inside with friendly staff and good service. I will be visiting again soon. If you are going around lunchtime it may be advantageous to phone before and or book because when we were leaving people were queueing or being turned away

Went for afternoon tea which was lovely. Nice big airy room. There are a good choice of meals which are a bit out of the ordinary, more of a bistro feel than a cafe. Nice place to come for a treat. The garden centre is also very good, big choice of plants and run and owned by a lovely family.

Excellent food and service. Three visits, so far with family. Absolutely no regrets keep up the good work! We are definitely coming back.

A very bright and trendy garden centre restaurant. Very popular with retired folk when we went. Does a good selection of light lunches and brunches. A little pricey for the amount you get. A great place to take your elderly Mum / Auntie. The special goats cheese tart was delicious. Also had a good selection of cakes but didn’t have any. Parking can be difficult at popular times.

Our first visit but definitely won't be the last. My friend and I had the Afternoon Tea and it was all delicious and fresh, we can highly recommend it. Staff are lively too.

Called in for a quick cuppa but when we arrived took one look at the breakfast tea cakes and had to have 2. Outstanding breakfast sandwiches well worth the money. Will definitely be back.

Brilliant fantastic selection and excellent service

The queue to order was long and just 1 lady serving (lunchtime) the drinks, apparently large, are not so are very pricey. I was taken back at 14.00 for 1 black coffee, 1 latte, 1 cookie and some breadcakes .... the breadcakes were 4.95!! I get we are in difficult times, but small drinks, large prices and underwhelming expensive bread. Disappointing.

It's ok. They have a good selection and have improved the outdoor area since my last visit. However, they don't seem to stock Errington Reay pots anymore and they aren't dog friendly anymore either (as long as you can carry your dog out can go in!).

The garden area was excellent, although 2 staff members were arguing and raised voices to each other. Lots of choice of plants and other garden related items. Even I was walking around I found members of staff extremely helpful offering to move, carrying things for me. And full of advice. I visited the restaurant and found a great menu with specials I hade open steak sandwich for £10.95 which was beautiful and great value for money. My wife had the open prawn sandwich for £10.95 which was a huge disappointment at for the price was very poor in portion size. The staff in restaurant ware polite and friendly.

My friend and I had a good old catch up over coffee and delicious cake. Will certainly be back for lunch or afternoon tea, everything that was being brought out to tables looked absolutely fabulous.

Nice cafe, plenty of room. Only criticism here is the rear car park, desperately needs a hard surface,it gets all over the inside of the car, and pushing a trolley to the car is impossible. But a very good garden centre, been coming here for 20 years or more.

Very pleasant for cake and a coffee in a garden centre. Coffee was fantastic. Choice of cakes on offer was good , though only 1 gluten free , which was a chocolate ganache cake which was very rich. Its nice to be offered something that isn't cellophane wrapped, mass produced brownie or flapjack though. I look forward to the day I am offered a fruit scone, from the freezer is very acceptable.
