I and my son and my mum had an amazing batter sausages and chips that was so much better then Mr cod, The portion sizes was great to a point that my mother and son could not eat all of of their food so I finished it for them lol, The price was cheaper than MR Cod I hate MR Cod anyway, Service was pretty good too, We was very happy campers, We will be coming again at some point, Thank you for feeding us, 😀

Just had fish and chips takeaway.Absolutely disgusting When we opened the packaging it was just swimming in fat. The chips were cold and stale The usual people were not there today.When they come back they may find they have lost their regular customers. About £12 wasted. Well my son just returned for our fish and chips tonight. Fish and chips for two 25 pound absolutely disgusting just cold and obviously been cooked hours ago. Will never ever risk it there again.

The restaurant was empty, except for 4 people at a table. The tables were bare. The atmosphere dull & depressing. We decided to takeaway, 2 portions of chips and 2 hot drinks, £13.80! We sat outside in front of the fun fair. Unfortunately, the rain became just too heavy so we popped back inside to finish our chips off. However, I was toldby the rather abrupt and rude boy behind the counter that had served us, we charge to eat in. I'll check how much you have to pay. In an establishment offering chained down salt and vinegar shakers, no customers, on a very blowy rainy Saturday afternoon in September I hardly think this is going to win over rave reviews, especially when I had a 2 year old in tow! All we wanted to do was eat our chips in the dry. We didn't use any cutlery, plates crockery or make a mess at the for the 5 mins we were there. We took our chips and went to the car. A very expensive and unfriendly experience. Shame on you, we'll never return and will never recommend.

Service appalling. No seats so had to eat outside and not allowed cutlery. Asked for some and waitress was rude and angry with me when I complained and literally threw the food in the takeaway food bags. Shocking. Won't be back for sure.

Least chips ever for a large portion and not that great either £4 20 for literally 20 chips is a rip off and they know they have a monopoly on the area. Avoid and take a cheese sandwich to the beach!

Large bag of chips... Worst I have ever had. Either the oil was old or the potatoes were. Had a mouldy taste to them. Dripping in fat, over browned and yet still raw in the middle. 2 stars for service as they were quick enough to refund.me! Many thanks!

Watched the guy serving today 19th July licking the hand dispenser tube after filling it how filthy can a staff member be 😡 He looked very young to be frying and clearly needs training in health and hygiene absolutely CRIMINAL! We walked away my wife was absolutely livid!!!! Shame on you😡

The fish was vile soggy no flavour however the chips were lovely but definitely avoid the fish at this place very disappointing

I was having a 'nostalgia ' visit, always went here with 'late' aunt, we both love the island. I couldn't do the meal justice , no appetite these days 😞

My family did not eat in the restaurant, the food was taken home. The chips were taken back. No formal apology, just £5 compensation. Expensive, they definitely have lost my custom and if they do not improve the quality of the food and general politeness of the staff they will loose many customers.

Some years ago I wrote review for this place. At that time it was run by a lovely Indian family. Well for the first time in ages I used this place, and what a deep dive this place has taken, almost to the bottom of the pile. No longer are the lovely Indian family still running the place. But now you have a loud abrubt women with attitude. And her sidekick, being a big guy that looks miserable, and as if he does not want to be there. And on top of that, the chips we where dished up where dry. Some of the chips where bad quality, with black bits attached. The black bits looked as if the chips where going off or just lower than standard quality. The cod was oily and the thin batter stuck to the wrapping paper, so one side of the cod had no batter at all, it just got stuck to the wrapping, as earlier mentioned. As for the cost, we'll that is absolutely discusting at £46 for 4 cod and chips. That's cod and chips of substandard quality. My advice to any potential customers intending to use this place is "Don't Bother" try nobbies in Mengham or one of the other chipshops on the island. I will never return to this substandard, even if it was the last chipshop in town. Bring back the previous owners, they where lovely.

Feeling sad and cheated right now. I can’t understand how a chip shop can be 50 years old and not know how to cook chips… sad,soggy,tasteless,grim. Bread roll stale, battered sausages cheap with some horrible batter. Don’t made paying high prices if the foods good but 5 battered sausages a fish cake bread roll fish cake and 3 portions chips for £40 is a rip off. Don’t waste your time or money

Friendly staff, fish a little overcoaked but chips were lovely and the meal did go down a treat. By the side of the rides and on a very warm Monday a nice break in the day for lunch.

Easily the worst fish and chips experience we've ever had. My chips portion was tiny, which actually was a blessing given how soggy, bland, lifeless they were; the batter on the fish was described by wife as a yellow fatty sock. The only joy we got from the meal was watching the poor old gulls fight and scrap over the sad old fodder we left for them on the pebbles.

Paid £17.70 for a portion of chips, battered sausage, fish cake, curry sauce and a drink. Very overpriced considering the portion sizes. Each time we have chip shop at other places we do the same order, it is always plenty to go between 2 adults and 2 small children. However that was not the case here, I left without eating as there just simply wasn’t enough to go around. I’ve added a photo which really just doesn't do it justice to how small it was. The portion was the same size as my husbands hand. Never has so little food cost us so much money. I did also take note of the fact they charge 10% on top of their prices if you want to eat in. Even without the eating in charge it was still over priced for what it is. Very disappointed and will be the first and last time we eat from here.

Been coming here for years, portions today were TINY, literally a handful of chips with each order, a hefty price tag. despite the child size portion. Stick to coastguard down the road, much larger portions and better value for money.

The chips were very good quality and the price was good for the size. COD was £7 and was ok. Sausage in batter £3 for a large and was again ok. Decided to eat inside for 15% surcharge as was raining. Overall ok

We won the best fish and chip shops on the island, right by the funfair at plenty to do and see I’ve been going there since I was a young lad when my mum and dad used to take us there. It was then run by the eighteen family also had a fish chip shop in Reading. Where I grew up My dad was family friend of the eighteens , so we always had free chips from them when visited

Worst cod I’ve ever had, tasteless

We used to come for lunch regularly but since covid it has gone steadily down hill.It is definitely one to be avoided.The fish was very small and the batter soggy the chips weren’t much better.

Lady serving quite abrupt and rude. To then refuse legal tender of Scotish pounds. Served very fast but good as sitting. Batter on fish very soggy!! Overall not a nice experience!!

The lady taking orders was extremely rude and sarcastic. The staff preparing the food were dumping it on the counter expecting a group of customers with lots of orders to know who's was who's and when asked if that was our order the lady taking the orders was sarcastic. After they could see they were clearly making people confused, they attempted to let people know what the orders were by essentially whispering them so barely anyone could hear. Whilst we were in there, the same rude lady serving shouted rudely at someone going to give her food to her child, saying she had lied about her food being takeaway before she'd even got to her child sat down to which she said she knew and was simply getting her things after ordering. Poorly managed, rude staff and the food was below average. Soggy batter and food that had clearly been out for a while. Surely there is some kind of hot holding time limit? We accept the price due to location, but also location-wise, you're located next to a funfair, some decent friendly customer service would be nice. We've used this place for years on visits, but I doubt we'll be back in a hurry after today.

When ordering lunch i Would have preferred more than 20 chips for £2.50 then the added rudeness and attitude with my lunch ! Never experienced rudeness like it . Food was ok.but the attitude made me feel I was mugged off even more. Your staff should be appalled speaking to paying patrons like that disgusting and will not visit again . Set a horrible example to my children. Do better when dealing with customers And remember some disability’s are Not visible . Avoid

Fish was a decent size but the batter was very soggy and chips were lukewarm and seemed to have been cooked a while before being served. If you like soggy batter and dry/old chips that fair play to you. Obviously a shop that prioritises efficiency and quantity over quality of food served. The worst thing was the 15% eat in charge. How can you justify that big percentage just to use a seat inside but you can use their tables outside with no charge?

Had lunch here the other day, was the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time. All cooked to order fish was so fresh and batter perfect. Chips were amazing and freshly cooked. Staff friendly and helpful. Highly recommend

Seaview was the place to go, but over the last two years or so quality of food has dramatically declined, I ordered 2 X fish and chips , chips were old and brown, fish and batter was tasteless, fed most of it to seagulls, they will eat anything, I won't be coming back.

Manager is extremely rude , gave about 10 chips and then accused us of stealing them when we went to complain, very arrogant , poor value for money and shocking treatment , staff very friendly and helpful, a real shame used this place for years but unfortunately will not be using them again

Greasy fish. Change the oil. Oil is too old and dirty. Batter comes out too dark and dripping in oil. Unpleasant. Chips were ok so. Not much open when we came so we didn’t expect it to be good. Person cooking couldn’t be less interested in his job - turned away from the fryer and counter, iphone propped up next to the microwave and spending most time on there. Not washing hands after touching iPhone and leaning with hands on face. Disgusting. - EHO should visit. Would be on a warning in no time. Very poor standards. Avoid.

My family love Hayling island and travel there regularly and have done for 13 years, every visit going to the Sea View. Food used to be excellent, but for the last three years it has gone downhill. Every time I say we won’t return but given my adult children have autism it would be hard for them to go anywhere else. We went today, staff were pleasant and very accommodating as they were about to close but stayed open as we were eating in. Ordered cod and chips x2, fish cake and chips plus battered sausage. Chips were stale and very dark on my plate on my daughters, but ok on my sons. Fish was not quite cooked enough, batter was not crispy and tasted frozen. The battered sausage we never got. Portion sizes very good if food is good. I have recommended this shop many times over the years to friends and family but don’t anymore. Seeing how they have a captive audience being situated right beside the fun fare the food should be good. Will definitely try somewhere else next time. Some serious training is needed to get Sea view back up to the standard it used to be. It’s such a shame.

Customer service was absolutely diabolical. The people behind the till were rude, making fun of customers, including my wife, laughing and joking about them or their order. Cod was dry and chewy, seriously overpriced for a lacklustre meal and horrendous customer service. We will never return there for food, nor will we be referring any friends of family.

Popped in for fish chips on an evening on the beach , had cod and chips , lovely cod in batter and chips were really good , if I’m being picky could have been a few more chips. Don’t have fish and chips often but this was tasty!

Visited here 27/7 evening time . My Mrs bought 2 large chips & piece of cod for family of 5. The chips were disgusting, under cooked & tasteless. I’m not fussy with my chips normally & rare to give a negative review. As other reviews have been positive I must have been unlucky this particular evening. The rest of family found them edible.

Looks like any regular British fish and chip sea side shop,but the food is average at best and the working environment for staff must be terrible, as those are the unhappiest staff I have ever come across,leading to terrible service and I guess food preparation. Simple questions and requests were met with grumbled single word replies. No serviettes even supplied!

Went on a sunday afternoon. Chips were well cooked and a great portion size. Plenty of salt and vinegar. Well priced wirh a good selection. Plenty of seating outside and tables inside too if you want to sit inside. Very good overall.

The fish looked great and by all accounts was great, I didn't have it myself. The chips were warm but not the best. The service was pleasant. We would return, maybe at a busier time when the chips might be fresher. Not unpleasant by any account.

First time I have been back to Seaview fish and chip shop for a long time. We were very disappointed with their chips. And the fish batter was very soggy. So probably go back to whistles.

We were there with our family and had fish and chips, grandchildren had sausage and chips. We had booked a table for the six of us which wasn’t apparent when we arrived, but once we told them we had booked, they got out another table for us, we ordered, which took a little while but they were extremely busy. Staff were pleasant.

Ordered 2 cod and chips to takeaway. Staff seemed friendly. The parentals said it tasted great. Open on a Sunday and there’s a car park near that is suitable for my dad who can’t walk far.

Sat in the car overlooking the sea on a wet grey day. The fish and chips were freshly cooked and ok.

Fish and chips cooked to order and well worth the wait - sooo yummy. We used to come to Dunster beach chalets when kids were young (in their 30's now!). We always used to get our fish & chips from here and eat them in the bus shelter and that's what we did last night. Didn't disappoint. .... thank you x

Had a takeaway. Chips were the best I've had in a very long time, even after reheating (drove home to eat). Fish soft & flaky and light batter.

Took years to get served then even longer to get my food- my fish evolved into a monkey by the time I managed to eat it.

Very average food. Fish was rather tasteless and oily. Nothing special about the chicken, except extra small. Fries were average again. I was expecting more having seen this had 5* and was rated best in the area. Queuing took 37 minutes. There was no seating inside, outside tables are dirty full of litter and unkept. Prices were reflecting location, but not quality. 8 nuggets were £4, 1 fish was £5:40, 4 nuggets and fries £4.

Dry cod and sausage in batter, chips are not very nice just average. The customer service is not welcoming at all and make it seem like they can't be bothered to work there. They also charge you 10% to eat in and don't make you aware of this. Also 40p per tiny sachet of sauce, no pepper and salt and vinegar is put on you food by staff your not aloud to touch anything. Rip off Britain! Stay clear people.

All round pretty poor, I did not like the food at all, like it was old, and why do I need a member of staff to put salt and vinigar on my food, I asked this question and the reply I got was "covid" I was gob smacked as I touched the table, chairs, card machine without the help of staff, 40p for a sachet of sauce is behind a rip off, captive audience comes to mind, never again, sorry
