Seaton's Fish Bar in East Devon

My wife and I have been enjoying this outstanding Fish Bar for over eight years now and have loved every bit of their consistently excellent products,thoughtful service and original atmosphere.We rate them as certainly the best locally and up there in the top three in the country.

I am a long time customer. Always excellent fish & chips not swimming in fat. Never had a complaint. Staff are friendly and efficient. Ideal. Premises always clean. The food is usually cooked to order which can mean a few minutes of waiting in a queue but the wait is worth it.

The best fish and chips in the area. Fast service and great food

Food is cooked whilst you wait and is fresh and piping hot. Portions are generous and prices reasonable. There is a special deal for a f&c supper with tea for pensioners, sitting in the clean cafe and served by delightful staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend.

Fabulous haddock and chips cooked on order light batter very tasty chips staff very friendly

Quite a queue for food, took the order of those in front of me then went off to start serving, someone else started to take orders from those behind me. I eventually placed my order and had to ask for my change as they closed the till. By the time my small fish as cooked it was given to someone else, I eventually had to ask for my order as everyone was being served whilst I was still waiting, no apologies so I asked for a refund. I had the chips, very small overpriced sausage and curry sauce. Needless to say, I won’t be going back.

We visited Seaton fish bar on a Friday evening expecting to have to queue for a while as family had recommended that they cooked the best fish and chips. Although they were busy, there was a really good system in place which meant the wait was kept to a minimum. The fish and chips were exceptionally good - the best we have had for a long time. They were served piping hot to take away and remained so by the time we got them back to our caravan. The batter was light and crispy and not greasy at all. The chips were perfectly cooked and also not at all greasy. Delicious! Would highly recommend and can’t wait to be back in Seaton on holiday to try them again!

Great food brillant staff felt very welcome there and the staff were really friendly the shop itself was emasculate and the food was fantastic I highly recommend this place

We had the Cod and Plaice and Chips. Well cooked and Delicious. Not badly priced. Fresh Fish and Chips at the seaside, has to be done on holiday.

Absolutely wonderful fish and chips. You can tell the oil they use is fresh and the large cod was huge. We had ours on the beach for supper.

Fish and chips shop needs tidying up inside

Empty at lunchtime and the owner could not take his eyes off a idiotic sit com on his TV the he wrapped my meal in paper and seemed put out that I asked for a box and then transferred my meal into a too small box even though larger ones were there the food was awful and I threw most of it away

Wonderful, friendly staff. Amazingly delicious food, the cod was perfectly cooked and the chips were top notch. The pickled eggs were fabulous.

The food was brilliant, couldn't fault it at all. The service not so good, there was clearly an atmosphere when we walked in, staff was arguing, and when I asked for a bag it was chucked on the counter and was told to bag it myself. Good job the food was nice.

Old school chippy where the decor and recipe hasn't changed since the 80s. And that's no bad thing. You know you're in a good chippy when there's a queue of older folk waiting for their orders before you. Best fish and chips I've had in years.

Fish was good and that’s about it. The chips needed another 10 minutes in the fryer to actually be cooked which is a shame with other reviews stating they’re good.

Only had a take away but food and service were good

The food was OK, freshly cooked and hot but it felt very expensive for what was fairly standard fish and chips. The staff were polite but came across as more than a bit grumpy. Those of a nervous disposition might not approve of the film staff were watching on the tv with violence and regular very strong language with both sound and subtitles. At least if the kids are going to learn new words they will know how to spell them!

Really nice food. I got a saveloy, cheesy chips, and curry sauce. It was really busy! Decor could do with a little update and probably could do with hiding all the stock lying around.

I just popped in for cod and chips as we're in Seaton for a few days. It looked a bit quiet when i walked in, but then it's a Monday lunchtime in December. Honestly, though, the food was cooked fresh, lovely, generous, sized cod and loads of chips. My wife and I really enjoyed the food. Great quality, generous portions, well cooked. Friendly staff. Really good!

Both cod and chips were of poor quality. I have had before and was quite good but this time bad . Young lady was doing all the work but the gentleman did not know what he was doing.

Don’t believe the bad reviews, Seaton Fish bar has always given us very enjoyable fish and chips. You may need to queue and they are not the chattiest bunch but the food is always fresh and tasty.

Called at Seaton Fish Bar tonight 28th Feb after travelling from Cardiff for a few days break. Gotta admit we ordered four fish n chips and it was delicious piping hot with wonderful white fish and perfect consistency of the batter, perfectly cooked. The chips were not at all greasy and lovely texture and complemented the fish perfectly. If you are in the area, you owe to yourself to try this wonderful fish n chip shop. Paul PRJPhotography

Stopped off for fish and chips en route for home after a holiday in Devon. Really good food , freshly cooked !! We were able to enjoy our meal basking in the sun by the sea. Thank you from us all .🧓🧓🧓🧓

We had fish and chips x2 and a sausage a chips .Fish and sausage ok .However we have never had chips like these .They had obviously been hanging around all evening, then fried again and again then left and fried again .Totally inedible,and threw them away ..How can you get chips so wrong from a chippy ????

Really nice fish and chips. Bit of a wait as it was cooked to order but we'll worth waiting for. The chips were some of the best I've had in a long time and the fish was just as tasty. We walked down to the front and ate sat by the sea which always adds to the appeal of fish and chips.

Had a variety of orders tonight and was very pleased at the service received from the staff,very helpful and curteous, order delivered quickly,will recommend to everyone I know.

Fantastic fish and chips, Fish fresh, batter nice and crispy, chips top draw, all the food we had was cooked to perfection, I heard the chap behind the counter tell a customer he had worked in this takaway for 30 years, the taste of this food definitely proved someone with many years of experience had cooked it, best fish and chips around, can't wait to return to Seaton for more fish and chips from this 5 star takaway.

The chips available in two very generous portion sizes were fresh and tasty. The battered sausage was huge(no laughing at the back). Very tasty and reasonably priced

Called in on Tuesday around 5.10 Two large fish and one chips. The fish would have been fine. Unfortunately, the batter tasted like it had been dipped in engine oil. Total waste of £22.50

Very disappointed at the quality of the fish & chips. The food was fryed while we waited, and we assumed fresh BUT when we unwrapped the food it looked like it had been refryed, the chips were overly crunchy & dark in appearance & tasted oily. There was more batter than fish. Overall our experience was poor especially for the cost of £11 per portion X 4 plus peas & gravy! We will not be returning during our stay.

Really outstanding fish and chips, only reason for 4 star instead of 5 was the wait. Almost half an hour but it was definitely worth the wait.

Nice friendly service, but did take a long time to get our order, portion size was very good but the food was average! Family of 4 were fed in just under £30 which is reasonable for a seaside town like this.

This is a extremely expensive fish and chip bar. Visited to buy some food for my Grandchildren. 4 small sausage and chips 1 Jumbo Sausage and chips 1( asked for small ) charged for medium cod and chips Over £50

Portion size seems to shrink week by week, not exactly cheap either, young staff with no idea what there doing even when you order at both ends!! Such a shame to see a great Chippy go down hill.

£20 for: a large chips (£4.50) which actually were quite small for the money, large cod (barely larger than the standard size in the hot box at £9!!!), scampi 9 peices. Felt a bit ripped off to be honest. Tasted ok, batter on the fish wasn't too thick. Main gripe is the portion size Vs cost... Portion is way too small. Cost of living, inflation, minimum wage rises, I get it. It hits everyone. But for £4.50 I can buy 3 bags of Marris pipers for example.

I loved the the fish n chip and the price was reasonable and the quality of food was excellent. I would definitely recommend this if you ever visited Seaton. 10/10

Looks like the golden age of the best cod and chips is over. Had some chips last week and they were like cardboard and the oil tasted nasty. Think this place has changed hands.

Very nice crispy batter on fish with proper chips. Batter unlike the other takeaway in town is not full of oil and is very light, fish was delicious

Food was okay but £17.30 for a takeaway consisting of a pasty, small battered sausage, 2 portions of chips and 2 cans of drink was very steep.

The Best Fish n Chips I’ve had in years. The staffs were very friendly in taking multiple orders and decent pricing as well. I’ve visited Seaton frequently and everytime I come here, I’ll get large Cod, Haddock and Chips with the gravy. I would suggest to get these Fish n Chips and have the brunch at the beach.

Incredible fish and chips, generous portions and the fish was sweet to taste and the batter not thick...which was great, just a little greasy. The chips were crispy and the centres were soft, The dog loved the Saveloy. Great value for money too. No cue this time but that was the day of the week as it was a Thursday., early season as well. The locals have a great tasty F&C with also a great menu covering all tastes and needs.

Called in as we were in Seaton for the day and having read good reviews. We were not disappointed. We had two Scampi and chips and they were delicious. Both were freshly cooked and we sat on the front to eat them. Friendly staff too.
