Frydays Award Winning Traditional Fish &Chips in East Devon

We spend lots of time in Seaton over our eight months season and visit Frydays Restaurant every time we are here. Last night was our first time since last November (late due to the lousy weather) and we were so looking forward to our visit. We’re were not disappointed. The fish and chips are as good as ever and the price we paid was the same as last year which is very rare today. Our experience is always made complete by the great service from Vicky. She has a great memory and instantly remembered us from last year. We will be back down in two weeks and will be at Frydays again.

Enjoyed our takeaway fish, chips, curry sauce and mushy peas. Would certainly recommend this fish and chip shop.

My husband and I visited today for lunch. We were seated straight away. We night had Pensioners Special meals. Small fish and chips with a hot drink, it was hot and very tasty and we both enjoyed the meals.

Considering the mass of people during the grizzly run the service was swift and helpful, Food was tasty and fresh. Great little fish and chip shop highly recommended

Best fish n chips around. Vicky the waitress and all staff are friendly and our daughter loves coming here. They go the extra mile and the grub is delicious.

We visited on a wet February lunchtime and were warmly welcomed by the server. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children and we all enjoyed our meal. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and seemed busy with regulars. Only feedback was that it was cold inside with many diners wearing coats!

Excellent food and service, the best burger my partner has eaten in years (the monster burger). Good value and the tastiest chips I have ever had.

I have to say I was really disappointed with the fish and chips we got from here the other day. I've eaten from your take away before and been quite pleased but I can't help but feel that with it being off season you're lacking in pride. We had a large chips and a large battered cod and a large sausage. Unfortunately the sausage looked very sad and quite old. And the oil that it had been cooked in was obviously old and in need of changing. There was a bit of a wait but as they also run a restaurant at the same time so you can give a bit with that. I'm a proper Devon/Dorset girl and I like traditional fish and chips- which I feel on this occasion I didn't get. Also the curry sauce? Far from traditional. The service however was lovely, it's a shame. But on this occasion it was a let down. Which I will bring back to my first point I can't help but feel it's because it's off season. Don't forget your bread and butter. Lemon Plaice in Axminster once done the same but they bounced back and they do a fantastic chippy tea. But no seaside view

Probably the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. The chips were that bad they were inedible, the fish was covered in a soggy thin batter that was drenched in the most disgusting tasting and very old cooking oil so that was inedible as well. The only thing that I could actually stomach was the piece of cod but that was tainted by the disgusting taste of the oil. The cod was supposed to be large but in any other establishment would be best described as medium. This meal cost me £12.50 and for that price It should have at least been to an acceptable and edible standard. Will never buy food from these people again. The standard of food is just simply very poor.

Been here many times in recent years, both for takeaway and eating in. And always been delighted. It’s busy in summer and you may need to wait a while, but everything is freshly cooked, and that’s a big plus. Service and surroundings are superb and the menu is truly remarkable...huge range of meals available. For us, the best fish and chip shop/ fish and chip restaurant around.

Good food, especially the onion rings. The fish was also very good but the fires were a bit soggy and not very crispy.

This a must visit for fish and chips in Seaton. I had the seafood medley and my husband had cod and chips. Both meals were delicious and the waitress was very friendly.

Finding Frydays was difficult as its tucked away down an alley. Large and airy take away and restaurant. Very attentive staff. Lovely fish and chips. Bit on the pricy side. Toilets very very small.

Went here on a Saturday evening. After travelling down to Seaton we were quite hungry. There was a massive queue outside, so thought that must be a good sign.We both had large cod with chips, however the fish was at best medium I certainly wouldn't have said it was large and was really quite disappointing, chips were ok nice and hot.

Sadly for what reason not explained we had a very long wait to place order (eating in) and even longer wait for food. Some of our group had to leave because of parking restrictions. Thought 2 hours would be enough just to get food. Previous visit went much better but took far to travel to risk being dissatisfied again.

Ordered online had a bit of a wait when collecting as it was so busy but then it was a Saturday on the hottest day of the year. The food was excellent and freshly cooked and the staff very polite despite being so busy.

Absolutely fantastic fish and chip shop. All cooked fresh so you have a bit of a wait.the two young girls serving were very polite will go again. Everything you eat is all put on a board where it's from even the potatoes the chips had a great taste.

A very popular chippy for good reason. The fish batter is crispy, the fish is succulent, the chips are perfect and as for the battered sausages, well they are lush, order two and keep one for the morning like I do!

Pricy (read the very fair and open sign about the increase - my comment isn't really based on that) and not particularly anything special, but absolutely filled a gap and the staff were really nice. Rest of group who were with me were also very happy. We'd come again!

We got a large cod and medium chips, and sat and ate them on the seafront. Absolutely delicious. Some of the best fish and chips we've ever had.

Amazing chips and curry sauce. The gluten free options were very minimal, though. The downside is how overpriced this place is. I know they have to make money but £5.75 for the pies? But overall, really good.

Delicious cod and chips, ordered from the takeaway, lovely polite young man serving, although busy didn't have to wait very long, ate them on the sea front, good size portions, very tasty and piping hot.

Very poor cod ,greasy and not large like ordered

Ordered 1 mini cod and chips, sausage and chips and 1 standard cod and chips. It cost just under £27. The standard cod was ridiculously small, couldn't tell the difference from the mini cod, so I questioned the size and they said it was done on weight and normal. I literally could not believe how small it was. I've been a regular here for years and never had a meal this poor from here. The cod was also very greasy, and didn't taste fresh at all. Sadly from now on I won't be returning, and will take my business elsewhere where I can get a decent sized piece of cod. The prices are also now very expensive, and it is not value for money at all.

First time at this place, it won't be the last!! Amazing food and nice friendly staff. The fish 🐟 and chips 🍟 😋 are so fresh and tasty. Don't forget to ask for their homemade tartar sauce. Oh and the curry sauce.... hell yer!! Really good. I'm back next time to try the grilled sord fish and tuna.

Would definitely recommend ordering online and collecting (you pick a time slot) because the place was heaving and those that just turned up had a long wait. Fish and chips were lovely. We ordered large chips because some of the reviews said portions were stingy but couldn't finish them because there were so many. We had take away but there's also ample seating if you want to eat in. Would definitely order again.

Decent fish and chips, but very tight portions; regular chips about half what I'd expect, 50p per sauce sachet, asked for some napkins when 6 of us had ordered didn't even give us one each...

Always call there while on holidays. Stunning food cooked fresh so recommend preordering by phone although you may still have to wait. Friendly staff and a nice holiday atmosphere

Enjoyed every aspect of Frydays. The service was personal and very helpful. Fish and chips were delicious. The special was red snapper on the night I dined.

On arrival the restaurant looked very busy but we were greeted with a smile and shown to the only free table. Ordering was quick and easy and our drinks were brought out promptly. Our meals arrived after being freshly cooked, the fish was perfectly cooked...

A fish and chip shop that has more choice than usual. I had grilled tuna steak, which was lovely.

Food as it should be, charges extra for mushy peas which was very dear, could have purchased 2 tins for the price they charge for a small pot.

Il personale gentile, ormai eravamo solo il nostro gruppo di 4 persone. Non voglio iniziare le polemiche ma nell parse dove ho mangiato il miglior fish and chips nella mia vita, qui mi trovo sorprendente malissimo: un feta pergamena di non si capisce che pesce dentro una pastella imbevuta d'olio. Le posate: la parte strana che erano avvolte dentro un tovagliolo di carta sul lato del manico, e le parti che tocca il cibo erano appoggiate direttamente sull tavolo precedentemente pulito con un pezzettino davanti .

Decent fish and chip takeaway/ restaurant. Enjoyed my meal in the restaurant. My only gripe would be the tops of the vinegar bottles were filthy, along with dirty salt and pepper pots. No excuse for that really.

Upon arrival we had a friendly greeting and our order was taken promptly. We had the 'senior citizen's fish and chip meal which was faultless. Part way through the meal we were asked if everything was satisfactory, and overall the experience was exceptional. Highly recommend...

Meal lovely and service good. Good choice on menu. Only downside was the toilets. Needed a thorough clean. Sink, soap dispenser and generally the whole toilet area. The rest of the place was spotless!

We always go to Fridays when down the van, the fish and chips are the best around. All the staff are friendly and polite.

we just had our supper at Frydays. I had grilled tuna, my partner had haddock, and daughter had (real) chicken nuggets. as sides we had onion rings ....which were freshly made and home cooked....ie not factory frozen and mushy peas. the chips were great and...

Great pasties and chips. What more can I say?! Not easily seen from the prom, so if you find Beano's (which is often shut) go down the side street and there is Frydays. But beware, when you order with click and collect they don't update the order on your web page... you have to turn up and ask...

the chips arent that great your better off going somewhere else if im being honest

Whenever we’re on holiday in Seaton, we always make it a habit of coming to Frydays for lunch. Absolutely beautiful fish & chips every time; crisp, not-at-all greasy, delicious & filling time, but today we ate in the restaurant instead of taking-away. Seats were very comfortable, restaurant itself was very clean & tidy, atmosphere was great, service was fantastic, the staff provided colouring-in for my niece whilst we were waiting for food, and were very friendly, helpful and professional. Special shout-out to the woman who served us as she was the only one waiting on tables, and served us and all other customers with a smile and positive attitude. Frydays is highly recommended. Essential fish & chips to get from Seaton! 😃👍🏻

The fish was nice, as were the various seafood things we tried. Oh, and the mushy peas were delish! The chips were more like fries, regular and pretty plain, rather than the odd and gnarled ones you usually expect at a chippy. Still, perfectly nice...

Freshly cooked for you - tasty, hot and plentiful. Tea is good too. There is an offer for pensioners for lunch - F&C with tea for £9.25 - really good. You can sit inside as the cafe is very good and clean.

Frydays is a regular Friday lunch restaurant of choice. In fact it influenced our decision to buy a home in Seaton. Lindsay Hughes was so welcoming we fell in love with her and her enthusiasm for the town.
