Iwona was absolutely brilliant, her attention to detail and service was second to none. I had a small gathering here for drinks and she made us feel so welcome and gave us a few laughs as well. An absolute credit to your company, I’ll be coming back for sure and hope to see Iwona again.

A Most Heartfelt Appreciation of The Red Lion Permit me, if you will, a few words in favour of an establishment most dear to me: The Red Lion, a pub of such dignified character and quiet excellence that to call it merely a "local" would be to do it an unforgivable disservice. From the moment one crosses the threshold, there is a palpable sense of tradition — not the dusty, dog-eared sort, but rather that rare and comforting kind that speaks of generations who knew precisely where to go when the world called for a restorative pint and good conversation. The wood panelling, rich with stories; the brass fixtures, burnished by time and careful hands; the subtle hum of conversation beneath a low timbered ceiling — all combine to create a sanctuary of civility. It is the sort of place where one might find a retired colonel nursing a pint of mild while reading The Times, or a pair of locals engaged in spirited but ever-polite debate over the relative merits of Yorkshire versus Lincolnshire sausages.

We had a Sunday lunch a table of 22 We was looked after very well . The food was lovely, staff went above and beyond excellent service

Service wasn't great at all but the manager listened to us and resolved our issues.

I would like to set the tone prior to anyone reading this lengthy review, I am not inclined to leave bad reviews as I prefer to support businesses rather than criticise particularly given that pubs are struggling at the moment. That said having thought it through I wanted to make others aware. I have been to this pub several times when visiting family and always had a nice experience, if you are visiting for a drink it’s good, however if you arrange a private function BEWARE! We arrived for my sisters 40th birthday celebration, we had a dedicated space which was great, I went to the bar to order a drink which was listed as by the glass on the wine list, I asked my husband to order a small glass as my brother in law was paying and I didn’t want to take advantage, I left and joined the group, a few moments later my husband arrived with a different wine and I asked what happened, he was told by the bar lady that that wine only available by the bottle so he said we will leave it she will have something else. Literally 10/15 minutes later a large bottle of Whispering Angel arrives at the table I’m sat at, to put this into perspective no one else in the group drinks this wine, as the chap (who I assume was a senior member of staff) placed the magnum down I asked who ordered this and he said a lady wanted it, I replied that lady would be me and I have this glass of red wine instead so please take it back, I won’t drink a magnum of Rose by myself and I most definitely did not order it, he said no the man ordered it to which I asked my husband who was stood behind me and he said absolutely not! I asked the member of staff to take it back as it was not open, he proceeded to pretend he had t heard me to which I put my hand over the bucket and said, we didn’t order this please take it back, he refused and said you need to speak to the guy who is paying. I spoke to my brother in law (knowing this was a £80 bottle of wine) he informed me that said bar guy had approached him and said “your sister in law wants this bottle of wine, just to let you know” my brother in law being a generous guy said ok no problem, which was not the case at all and I told him, he said let them know and they will take it back. The staff simply refused, I tried, my husband tried and my brother in law said it’s ok just leave it as it’s causing a scene. To put it into perspective this bottle was pretty much 8% of the total bill, I’m genuinely still annoyed that the staff acted so sneakily and therefore wanted to write this review. I must stress we had a nice night, more to do with the company than the bar staff, senior management you may need to have a chat with your team as you have spoilt what used to be a lovely pub experience for us a a family. Very disappointed, I’ve just downloaded the photo so everyone can see that it is available by the glass, the staff clearly did a sneaky to upsell.

Following on from the review from K.Harris and the response from the pub management. My husband hosted my 40th birthday at the pub, I believe the bar staff took advantage of my husband...if a member of the group has refused the bottle, why are you then asking to him if he would like it, under pressure he will say yes not knowing the whole story. Very cheeky! Bar staff were also told to keep tokens my husband had issued but I witnessed them returning them, again in an attempt to rank up the bill! I was very disappointed as this usually our local but I'm now going to have to find a new local!

Meal was excellent as usual but there was problem with the gravy pot which broke open making the Yorkshire pudding soggy as it soaked the bag and it is likely it also leaked into the courier's bag. Telephoned pub to make them aware.

There seems to be exaggeration on drink prices...recently paid a lage gslss of red winne and shady £15.....this is equivalent to 2 bottles of wine in Tesco etc...dissappointed!!!!!!

A REALLY GREAT Christmas Meal!!! The staff were amazing, especially Alex (THANK YOU ALEX!)👍🏼👌🏼 All three courses were delicious and delivered to the table with care. Despite it being the busiest time of the year in the restaurant, we did not feel rushed in any way, we were made to feel extremely welcome throughout our time there. Everyone in the family thoroughly enjoyed the time there and I myself was additionally grateful for not having any dishes to wash this year. Thank you all! See you all next Christmas ☺️

I had the pleasure of visiting this venue, and it truly exceeded all expectations. The atmosphere was warm, relaxed, and inviting, with a classic pub vibe that made it the perfect spot to unwind. The food was absolutely delicious! From hearty pub favourite's to unique twists on traditional dishes, every item was full of flavour. The burger I had was juicy and cooked to perfection, with all the right toppings. The fries were crispy and seasoned just right. The selection of craft beers was impressive as well, perfectly complementing the meal. The portions were generous, and the quality was top-notch—exactly what you'd hope for at a pub. What really set this place apart, though, was the service. The manager went above and beyond to ensure every guest was well taken care of. From greeting us at the door to checking in throughout the meal, their attention to detail and friendly demeanour made the experience even better. It’s clear that they care about providing a fantastic atmosphere, and it showed in everything from the speed of service to the overall vibe of the pub. Dropped in for a drink, loved the atmosphere, felt it was a bit quirky with all its different rooms my favourite was next to the open fire, what a treat. Looking forward to eating there next time. Sompleased the Red lion has kept it's character of a nice pub.

From a fellow manager, Food was amazing. Front of house staff weren’t too helpful. Bar staff were rude. Highlight of my night was the levels of excellence with food. Been here a ton of times and it seems to be that the front of house staff ruin it for us. EVERYTIME. Needs fixing. If I’m being Completely honest. Sajeel has a lack of manors and would rather spend a little more time on his phone than focussing on service. Attention to detail. I must reiterate, the food was beyond expectations.

We had a Christmas day meal at The red lion in stoke green added a compulsory service charge to the bill. You can not have a compulsory tip. When asked for a refund they said they would refund it. However yet to receive any refund. Just to be clear tipping is ok but it's a choice of the person. It is not right for a compulsory tip Mr Towne

We were a party of 12, and overall, everyone thought the food was lovely. There was a mix-up with a couple of the dishes, but the staff handled this very well. Our group had some very specific dietary needs, which our (excellent) waitress handled with care and patience. We all thought the food & drink was excellent value for money, given that it was Boxing Day. Everyone agreed that it was a lovely afternoon.

We had a 3.00 booking for Christmas day. The food was excellent, lovely veg, the staff were lovely, still enthusiastic which I think is no mean feat on Xmas day and the atmosphere was festive. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely experience

Perfect area to sit in the bar for Sunday lunch, with a quiet corner for the dog and a roaring fire. The roast was plentiful and tasty and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Iwona was incredibly helpful and made sure to help my mum bring hot food to my dad in hospital. Thank you so much. Dad said it was absolutely fantastic.

Everything was delicious, fresh and warm. I ordered the Christmas menu. Mushrooms, turkey and brownies, everything was of the highest quality. The girl who served us was very professional and nice. I will definitely come back again.

We only met for a drink & didn't eat this time. The staff are welcoming and the atmosphere was cosy, warm and calming.

I came here for a hot drink after a hospital appointment… I thought once I sit down I can order a little starter and a warm drink! Just because I was by myself I got told to sit at the bar ! Instead of the actual restaurant refused straight away ! This was Friday 29th Nov!! I was really shocked considering the place wasn’t even busy !!! Staff were too busy chatting away !! I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place! Tables were dirty and sticky too!! Get staff trained please and more down to earth staff …

Nice pub/restaurant. We had a bottle of wine and tapas. Very popular place, with a nice atmosphere and cosy but classy feel. Big carpark out the back and large, pretty seating area out the front. Would recommend if looking for somewhere to eat.

Used to come here a lot but after Covid it was a bit run down and the food wasn’t great. But just been again and it’s much improved! The food was much better. I just had the basic cheese burger and loved it! The staff were super friendly and made me feel like family.

Been coming here on and off for five years but this place is a joke the staff are not friendly I ordered my starter and main when my family get their food my did not show up when I asked an staff member where was my food she forgot when I finally got my food I got my starter and main together which both was cold all the food my family had was cold and nobody took our plates away or even said sorry about our food being cold this place is an joke I will never be returning here.

We had a big family birthday meal and the service and food were 10/10. They helped me with table decorations and brought out boxes for the birthday cake without us having to ask, were attentive and quick with drinks, and had a laugh with us which made all the difference. Special shout out for the rarity of great vegetarian options of pub classics on the menu. Thank you!

Came in at lunchtime time and ordered the tempura prawn sandwich. Very few customers but still had to wait 25 mins for the food and the prawns were not even tempura. No good

Stopped for a business lunch as close to Wexham Park Hospital. Service was a little slow dispute it not being too full/busy. Food was nice.

Food was not value for money. Service was also poor, only time server came to our tabel was to serve food. Had to get tissues and cutlery from other table.

What a disappointment! Used to visit the Red Lion regularly many years ago but it’s gone downhill and yesterday’s experience was a disaster. The beer off the pump came up tasting of vinegar, it was replaced but with an inferior alternative. The starter was okay but the dirty burger mains was largely inedible. The whole thing was lukewarm, no flavour, soggy and dripping in grease. The bun was limp and wet and the meat patty was dry, overcooked and as tough as old boots, the ‘pickle’ was a few bits of cucumber in watery vinegar. The apple tart pud was surrounded by uncooked soggy pastry. I ordered a nice whiskey that came served in a brandy glass and I’m not convinced that I got the whiskey I asked for. The service was perfectly pleasant and polite but clueless teenagers. I was persuaded not to make a fuss so I didn’t, even though the bill was over £200 quid. The atmosphere was uninspiring and I witnessed at least one other table having their drinks order screwed up. I won’t be returning and I wouldn’t recommend a visit.

Had a wonderful burger, felt like pure elation. Have never experienced such a meal prior to my visit to The Red Lion in Stoke Poges. Will most definitely be visiting at every available moment. I would highly recommend this to any of my many associates.

Great attentive service. Everything ready on time. A couple of substitutions made on the buffet but all in all a nice event for the family.

Came in for Sunday dinner, the restaurant was pretty much empty so wasn’t really any atmosphere. The waitress was lovely but service was very slow considering how empty it was. Had to remind that we ordered bread for the table. Roast came out Luke warm, which i can’t stand so I did send it back and they microwaved it. Asked for more gravy and that came out Luke warm too. Yorkshire pudding and potato’s were rock hard, but the meat was nice. Deserts were all average microwaved puddings. Over all it was mediocre, could have gone somewhere a lot cheaper and had the same quality to be fair. Don’t think we will be rushing back.

The food was poor! Could be improved, especially the Sunday roast, being dry, tasteless, bland and dry.

Lovely, out of the way pub/diner. Good menu, my wife had the premium burger and I had the steak pie, which were both superb. The meat and filling in the pie was full of delicious flavours and the shortcrust pastry was crisp, with just the right balance between firm and crumbly.

There is good spaces for parking. The staff are friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed a good meal of gammon and eggs well cooked and a v good portion. Thank you we most certainly will call back again. One criticism the chairs are really heavy to move should you sit in the bar area

I can’t recall the name of the lady who waited our table. There were 9 of us including children. Service was absolute excellent and the cuisine very well executed

An exceptional experience, beautiful food, excellent surroundings and as for Becca, she went above and beyond. Cousins visiting from across the Pond, did not know what to expect of a pub lunch. They were pleasantly impressed. I recommend this place highly, half an hour from London and worth the drive. SIMPLY THE BEST ;)

Iwona, the person that served us was very nice and approachable. The food was great, but I feel like they could add more.All staff was so sweet and kind 😇. And I would come back here if I had the chance, they let us sit anywhere we wanted.But the restaurant had an unusual smell and it was weird.From my seat, I could see a fireplace(it wasn't on) that they could kindly put on when you are chilly.In my opinion, I would come back and I enjoyed my visit.

just wanted to say we came to dinner last night and the waitress Melanie was first class but nobody had bothered to read the notes i put in booking so didnt feel special .we been coming for 25 years .

Sajeel was an absolutely brilliant waiter. The food was mediocre but Sajeels service was stellar!! Would defo recommend for that atmosphere, friendly staff and stunning scenery all-around.

Excellent pub with a great atmosphere and nice outdoor seating. Had a sharing garlic bread and this was excellent and will most certainly return for a main meal.

We visited the place on Friday 3rd May. Had made a prior booking and were looking forward to it. But when we got there we were not greeted or acknowledged. Later when I asked for her name I was told she's called Ivona. We were not happy with her attitude and thought our evening was ruined. But we were pleasantly surprised and impressed by rest of the staff who served us at the table. Victoria, Dom, Emily and Rad were lovely, polite and gracious. We had a lovely evening. It was ok food was bought out but we hadn’t finished our shared bread so taken back and kept warm and had dried out and was quite greasy As I said it was ok but nothing special was it value for money? No I don’t think so
