Lovely pub . My phone and bike battery died just outside of this so the lad behind bar charged both for me for a couple of hours. Only negative was I got 2 drinks when lad was serving both good reasonable prices then when the woman was behind bar the drinks was over expensive . I don’t know if she was annoyed I was charging my things so got me back by overcharging or if he was giving me locals prices and she was giving me outsiders prices . not sure how some pubs work but once I got charged 8.80 for a double I left . Prices went from cheap to expensive . But it’s a nice pub

This is how a pub should be. This is like waking into a pub 20 years ago without the smoke but with all of the atmosphere and frivolity it used to have. There aren’t many places like this left and we treasure this place and the decor although clean and tidy is like the old days. That’s a good thing. Staff are always so friendly and the food is good value and served quickly. There are no frills to this place but there doesn’t need to be. A fabulous place for a bite to eat, a catch up and a nice drink. The wood burning stove was lit tonight and was just perfect as the weather had turned cold today. Various tables of various sizes chatting about their week with vigour. Thank you for never changing and the warm hug you get when you arrive 💋💋💋

Technically the Royal Standard is at Wooburn Common not High Wycombe. I visited with my Mum yesterday evening and the place was packed with people eating and drinking. A very good sign, especially on a week night. We had calamari chips and salad and sausage egg and chips, all really nice and very good value for money. The two guys serving behind the bar and taking orders were very friendly and hospitable and welcoming and we’d definitely visit again when I’m in the area. It was especially nice for my 91 year old Mum as her Dad used to visit the pub regularly so it brought back fond memories for her. It’s a good old fashioned pub not pretending to be something it’s not and the fact that it was packed on a Thursday tea time speaks for itself.

A cosy old fashioned interior with many separate seating areas indoors and out. Friendly service and a traditional range of food such as burgers, chicken strips, fish / halloumi and chips, baguettes etc. A big plus is that they will try to cater for smaller appetites by reducing the portion size e.g. fewer fishcakes. Great for people who don't want to feel daunted by a plateful of food they don't want. I didn't have the mash with my steak and ale pie so I had room for the bread and butter pudding! NB there is a different Royal Standard in Beaconsfield. They are not linked.

We visited the Royal Standard last week following my Aunts funeral, the pub was a long time family favourite years ago when I was growing up, it hasn’t really changed much since then and is still a very traditional olde world pub. The menu is varied and prices are very good, my Mum had sausages, eggs, chips and salad , I had chicken strips, chips and salad, my cousin had fish and chips and her husband had chilli and all of the meals were really nice with big portions, Mums 3 sausages were of very good quality and drinks were also reasonably priced. The Royal Standard continues to buck the trend of the modern public house by doing 2 traditional things very well. It wins awards year in year out for some very well kept ales, and it serves honest, no messing about tasty pub grub. Forget foams, smears, dehydrated this that and the other, you come here for a decent Chilli, Fish & Chips and Sausages & Mash. Huge value for money - 2 mains and 2 alcohol free beers for £27! Friendly staff and a pub with regulars, it's a proper destination pub but not for the usual reasons... You'll come here for a no nonsense pub experience and long may it continue.

29th October My wife and I were taken out for a meal, on arrival instantly realised what a lovely pub / restaurant this looked what with the flower arrangements etc. There is out building for the smokers with table and chairs, I dare say in the summer it would be great to eat there if you were a smoker. We received a warm friendly welcome and shown our table, read the menu, plenty of choice. My wife ordered Fillet of Sea Bass, ( a special from the board), myself ordered the Cumberland sausages with chips and eggs, I received three Cumberland sausages and two eggs. Our friends ordered the Scampi and chips and Fish and Chips. All in all the food was perfect, excellent produce, served with care, my wife fully enjoyed her meal along with our friends and I thoroughly enjoyed mine. Our meals were either £9.50 / £10.00 superb price and plentiful, however I did ask for the suite menu but the Apple and Blackberry Crumble jumped out and especially the choice of Custard, well it was a no brainer and I had to try it. Superb, is all whats needed to say. All the meals arrived hot as they should be, nothing worse than luke warm meals, the evening, ambiance, and company was a winning formula, we will be returning next time we are down south. Sam B.

Good beer (Timothy Taylor’s and Rebellion), good sized car park. The front is near a main road which is quite busy. Like all pubs it needs some support in these times. First time here, got a recommendation on Facebook. The carpark is large and easy to park in. We are outside due to restrictions. There are 2 areas to sit outside. There's tables out the front of the pub, these do suffer slightly from road noise. The other alternative is the covered area around the back. This offers chairs and tables which a slightly quirky. There is a couple of heaters on the wall which are nice in cold weather. The service was really quick, efficient and friendly. The menu is fairly good old fashioned pub grub, and is well priced. A very welcome change to some of the vastly over priced places that are around. Food was really good quality, hot and came quickly. The deserts were just as nice and tasty. A good range of beers, ciders and wine were on offer. Very impressed and definitely going to be back.
