Seasalter Fish Bar in Canterbury

Just had a takeaway from here. Really disappointing. The chips were ok but the fish well where do I start. The batter was orange, not something I’ve ever seen before and the fish grey and slimey. It was meant to be cod but I have my reservations. Never again!

Eaten takeaway from here many times and never been disappointed. Chips are cooked to perfection and the batter is always light and crispy. Their chicken bites (not nuggets) are made with real chicken and are really tasty, again with good batter on them. Start are always happy and chatty and friendly.

Recently attended on a Friday evening. Honestly the best non battered sausage and chips I have had in a long time not many crispy chips perfect for me!

Started off well with delivery being on time and calling me on arrival, as requested. Unfortunately, no utensils provided, as requested. Also, no salt and vinegar as requested. Food was poor for what was paid.

I stopped here for a portion of chips for lunch. The man that served me seemed miserable but was maybe just shy, although it would help if he smiled! The chips tasted nice but were soggy and almost impossible to get out of the bag with a wooden chip fork, which was a shame as I thought they were good value for money.

Food was average but well cooked. Service was a bit grim - not acknowledged when entered, attitude offhand.

Lovely fish and chips, freshly cooked and tasted really nice on the front eating from a box. Not a bad price overall, about right for Kent

FANTASTIC chippy....we had travelled down from Edinburgh and this was a great find and so CHEAP !!! My son said the burgers are the BEST Great service, hot delicious take away food BRILLIANT PLACE

Had a takeaway from here whilst staying at the nearby Alberta caravan park. It was perfect. We loved the multiple choices of fish, and the chips were spot on.

Me and my family use this chip shop all the time and food is absolutely fantastic And we don't use anywhere else we'll done seasalter fish bar

We had a big order which consisted of fish, chips ,veggie burger. Fish bites. These were all cooked just right with big portions. Although veggie burger was plain with no salad or relish

Lovely bit of scran. Very filling 👌 sorted the me and kids right out after a visit to the beach. Lovely the pukka pie

My first and last visit to this chip shop. I hate to leave anything but positive reviews however this was probably the worst takeaway meal I have ever eaten (or tried shall I say, since I barely made a dent in it). The delivery man asked me to get a plate so he could take the chips out of his delivery bag without them spilling all over the floor due to the paper bags being soaked through.. I thought it must’ve been the vinegar but when I started eating my chips, I realised they hadn’t added any salt and vinegar and instead they were just drowning in oil,; as if someone had cooked the chips and THEN poured a whole bottle of oil over them. My battered sausage was also severely oily and tasted like it had been reheated a dozen of times, rather than cooked fresh. I was gutted as was soo hungry. I will do my research next time 😩

Sadly the food quality has seriously declined over the past year or so. It’s like they just don’t care anymore. Customer service is poor too… the place seems to be run by grumpy teenagers now. The food was never fantastic but it was ok. My most recent order was Friday 23rd July 2021. It was literally inedible! The saveloy was hard and dry as though it had been reheated for 4 consecutive days. The chips were REALLY soggy. They just fell apart and I couldn’t pick them up with my fork! The last 2 times I ordered they asked if I wanted salt and vinegar but both times there was no salt and vinegar on my chips. 2 of my neighbours got fed up with this place a long time ago. I can’t see myself ordering from here again which is a shame because it’s close to home. I want to give zero stars but the minimum trip advisor will allow is 1. I would be interested to read a response from the owners although I don’t expect they will even bother reading this because it seems they stopped caring a long time ago.

Visited the fish bar while staying at the Alberta holiday park. I had Hadock and my wife had cod we only got one portion of chips as we had had a takeaway lunch a couple of weeks before. The fish and chips were cooked from fresh and was excellent. We walked back to our caravan and the meals were still nice and hot. We recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

Fish lovely but ordered a medium portion of chips, don’t think it was even one potato. Not even the size of a small portion from other fish bars, seriously need to make the portions bigger. Disappointing when you get home and find a few chips in a bag .

Freshly fried fish,chips and battered sausage. Take away let down by the curry sauce! Very thin and nearly tasteless. Please improve and then you will get an excellent!

The takeaway was obviously very busy but continued to take orders that it couldn't fulfil in a timely manner. When the food arrived, it was cold. Delivery took nearly two hours

Ordered a delivery at 6.20pm on a Friday. Food turned up 45 minutes late (1 hrs 40min total at just after 8pm). When it arrived all the chips were wet and steamed from being sat in the bag for so long. They were luke warm at best.The fish (cod) was inedible, what should have been a nice big crispy hot cod was infact a tiny, majorly overcooked, cold scrap which had been throw around in the box and its batter fallen off. I've attached a photo of this.I phoned to ask if there was any chance of maybe swapping the fish but didn't get that far. After the phone was picked up they asked my address, after telling them, they instantly put the phone down on the counter and left me on a call by myself. They knew the food they sent was awful and the phone was then off the hook until closing at 9.30pm.I can forgive and understand being busy on a wet Friday night but the sheer lack of service and procedure to just ignore phone calls has no excuse.If you want to order from here, I recommend doing so on a quiet weekday (the food is usually great), but a weekend is an absolute lottery in terms of waiting times, food quality and customer service

Well what can I say ! I’ve ordered my dinner at 4.30 pm for a 5,45pm delivery needless to say at 6.20pm my dinner is still not here! So I call the shop in mind that I have a 4 year old to feed! The answer I have is that the boy on the phone stopped me in mid conversation and said it wasn’t his fault and it was out in delivery! And when I asked but it’s not on time he just said nothing I can do about that!!!!Never again this is the third time I have this shop my business and the third time I’ve had terrible service! Beware never use this company at any cost!

Best fish and chips I have had in ages! Honestly looks nothing from the outside so I was really buying on the reviews on here. Thanks Trip Advisors, you did well!

Nice friendly staff,good size portions and always cooked fresh to order. Golden batter, crispy chips. Choose your time to visit carefully, there can be a long queue from locals and caravan park. If you're quick, get down to blue anchor corner and eat them on the beach.

Good chip shop you never wait long here plus they deliver now so no need to pop in to the shop anymore even tho the staff are friendly

Stopped at this place for takeaway fish and chips on a small break in the area, great food, and the chips are to die for, the lad serving behind the counter was also really nice

I have ordered a few times from here, the last 2 times they forgot items of my order but were relatively quick. This time I had to wait an hour and a half just for my food to be delivered. They got 3 things wrong on my order and just replaced it with whatever they felt like. When I tried to call I had to call for ages just to get through. When I finally got through I didn’t even get anyone talk to me they just hung up on me. When I tried to call again they had disconnected the phone. When I ate the food it was horrible and tasted like the batter hadn’t been changed in over a week. I am very disappointed in this. This is not how your run a business. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!

really tasty food.said delivery would be 45 mins but was here within 30mins.i would strongly recommend this chip shop to anyone.very tasty fish and chips and the most amazing cheese and bacon burger.

Ordered on line for 1830 BST. It actually arrived a little early. Exactly as we ordered. Hot and tasty

I ordered cheesy chips spacificly asked for no salt. I go home unwrap and it's coated in salt. Not only that the cheese had hard white bits looking like motzorrlla which in fact was not. The cheese was chedder cheese with hard white bits. Not mouldy but where it has aged, the cheese was not even melted. This is not the first time either. I could have made these myself for less than £3.10

Great food and they deliver! Never greasy always hot food and good service another one which pleases the whole family!

We visited this Fish bar a couple of times. The cod is really good, not too greasy. The chips are cooked to perfection just how chippy chips should be. The prices are very reasonable too.

Decided to have chippy for a change, phoned an order through for collection, jumped in car was ready when I get there.My wife had 6 cod bites and chips which we shared I had a small battered sausage and a quarter pounder. Batter was good and crispy on the fish bites and sausage all was hot. The burger was the normal cheap meatish cardboard but that's what I wanted.Small chips was plenty for both of us they were hot some had not been cooked through rest were ok.There is a good selection here and cooked fresh.

Great tasting, fresh fish and delicious crunchy chips. Friendly staff who are very welcoming. Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed ! :)

I visited this fish bar whilst on holiday & ordered haddock & chips with mushy peas, unfortunately once I got back to my caravan I found the chips almost stone cold, they did have a nice flavour & the fish was nice too, but the peas were bland.

We get cod and chips every visit to the Whitstable area ... some visits I do Take Away every night. The fish is fresh and without the skin. The chips are very good as well. I eat fish and chips all over England, Wales and Scotland ... and this is my favorite place.

I visited this place twice when staying nearby on a short break. Rude staff, nothing ready, long waits. Food was an embarrassment. The chicken burger and quarter pound burger were worse than what gets served up at a teenage bar b q.

Just called in here this evening as I had dropped some clients off near by at the sportsman restaurant.

Used this chipshop on a visit to a local caravan park it was lovely the shop is very clean and the fish and chips cooked fresh while you wait

My friend had cod, I had haddock but there was an extensive menu to choose from Everything was freshly cooked & not too greasy.

When we fancy a naughty treat, we always head here. Huge portions of quality and freshly cooked fish to order. Great family business, and polite, attentive staff.

Most of the time the chips are good BUT sometimes they are bit raw sadly and other times a bit too soggy. They need to be more consistent with the quality of their chips. The Man is a bit grumpy... maybe he could learn to smile at customers.

Best fish and chips in the area, we had to try a few other places over Christmas when Seasalter was closed. Not a patch On the cod and chips from the Seasalter Fish Bar.

Good price, reasonable food, good staff. Place smelt a bit oily, nearby to caravan park. Caters for vegetarians.

Well cooked and tasty traditional fish and chips at a reasonable cost with the added bonus of an Asian takeaway menu to boot. Recommend to all families on a budget staying in surrounding holiday home accommodation.

Looking for fast food there is little choice in Seawater but that didn't matter as this fish and chip shop won't let you down...be prepared to wait as they prefer to cook fresh which made our supper doubly good!

I had a portion of chips, they were fantastic, hot crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside . So the week later I took my Grandson and we had plaice and chips for me and Scampi and chips for him, we were not let down, Fantastic! The shop doesn't look that great on the outside but there is a friendly welcome and the food is great and good value for money. We will be back. Thank you.

Popped here to grab something quick to eat after a long day out once found out not far from ⛺️ campsite. Chips good portion and lovely and fresh . Place was very busy but it was Friday but polite quick service.

Good service and the food was very good. Plus it was within walking distance of the park - 10 mins at the most.

Lovely chips not keen on the fish as it's got bizarre orange batter which looks like it's frozen. But that aside everything else is great and a lovely couple run it

Un amigo y yo decidimos probar este lugar en la primera noche de nuestra estancia en un parque de vacaciones. Pedí la solla y pidió cod. Ambos estaban recién preparado a pedido y tengo que decir que la solla estaba bien cocinada y buen sabor. Cod de mi amigo no parece tan bueno. En lugar de la de pescado blanco, era más de color amarillo. La mayoría de las patatas no eran comestibles, con una textura más como cartón de patatas. Tengo que decir que debería visitar la zona de nuevo, este no sería un bar de pescado lo usaría de nuevo.

Fish and chips are excellent here. There is also selection of other dishes: jacket potatoes, sausages and curries. Very clean and super tasty.

Fish and chip were good. They do Indian food as well which is also very good. Staff were pleasant and efficient

So we decided to come here as I had fish before and was nice, anyway we ordered 3 fish and chips 2 mushy peas and a battered sausage and chips, we got home unloaded it all on plates to discover that we were missing the battered sausage and mushy peas so my mum only had chips in a roll for dinner! Because she doesn't eat fish. My mum called to complain if we would of gone back for the sausage the fish and chips would of been cold, the woman my mum spoke to hung up on the phone despite them being in the wrong! This is the 2nd time this has happened now.

We tried this fish bar out shortly after opening. Despite having plenty to choose from in the area we now don't bother going anywhere else! You can order over the phone and its ready when you get there, the staff are really lovely and very friendly, and the chips aren't greasy like some places. They remember you after you have been once or twice and now know me on the phone and remind me if I forget to order the mushy peas!! The prices are good and I can't think of a reason to go elsewhere quite frankly!! Well worth a try if you are in the area.

Whilst the service was friendly and the prices were good, unfortunately the food wasn't! Overcooked and tasteless we really didn't enjoy. Maybe it wasn't a good night when we went as it is always busy.
