The Sculthorpe Mill is an absolute gem of a find. From the welcome to the check out, service is 100% - there's a genuine warmth from the staff towards guests. Food is amazing - we ate dinner and breakfast - having both a varied menu that changes regularly depending on the season. Good to see local seasonal produce being used wherever possible. Rooms are v. comfy and a perfect retreat after a fab. dinner.

We were there for dinner (as in lunch), great food, great service, great accommodations for my two year old niece, love the little nets to catch fishes! Extra special mention to the wonderful Zoe! Despite it being a relic, she took 90’s nostalgia photography in stride, and took two very special and sentimental family photos on my SpiceCam without any bloopers! A great visit, I would highly recommend 🩷

Outstanding location on the river Wensum, however on this visit the food was very poor three of us had the rump steak, all three steaks were very tough and hard to chew although the flavour was reasonable and cooked as ordered. The chips looked good but unfortunately very dry as if they had spent to long under heat lamps or similar. One of our party had the fish dish which she enjoyed we all looked on her enviously. Our to grandchildren well catered for and the staff very friendly and enthusiastic but not efficient probably students on vacation jobs. I regret not complaining about the steaks. This was in no way up to Michelin Listed standard.

Busy with a good buzz....but acoustics poor in upstairs area. Also pleased we were near a window, give seemingly no air conditioning. Food good, with hearty portions. Waiting staff friendly and unobtrusive. Lovely location. Rustic ambience.

It was perfect , excellent staff , efficient and friendly , without being intrusive , all looked nice and clean , though we sat outside on this glorious day . 2 Dexter burgers , and yummy chips , ciders , and lattes , stayed a couple of hours chatting , no pressure to leave , sitting on the wall watching kiddies paddling and fishing for minnows , nets provided by the pub! Our lovely waiter Aaron took photos for us - very patiently waiting , while we posed lol. I don’t know when or even if , I’ll be back in Norfolk , but here would definitely be on the itinerary .

The Sculthorpe Mill has raised its game big time under its recent management change and it gets better and better. It is a real find for a river side lunch. The food is really first class pub restaurant Faire. The service from a “tribe” of young waiters and waitresses is efficient and charming under the watchful involved participation of the delightful owner. Gazpacho with piles of delicious crabmeat accompanied by Guinness bread and butter made the perfect summer starter, followed by an ample portion of cold, locally cured ham served with scrambled egg and decorated with Mustard cress , mustard sauce and dried apricots. Delicious. Washed down with a pit of locally brewed Barsham Bitter made the perfect meal, concluded with fresh coffee. A post lunch stroll through the richly planted and well maintained gardens, across the bridge over the mill leat, made for a perfect au revoir.

Thank you! We had a very warm welcome. We very much enjoyed the cheerful professionalism. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We felt very well looked after and had a very lovely experience as well as a great meal. We particularly enjoyed the ham hock starter. The lamb was excellent, as was the aubergine burger. I very much enjoyed my angostura bitters! The espresso coffee was not only very good but surprisingly affordable compared to many restaurants. We shall Return!

A traditional, village pub situated in a gorgeous village in beautiful Norfolk just inland from the coastal jem, Wells-next-the-sea. One of my favourite places on earth and on the warmest day of 2025 so far, a super tasty pint of Moongazers Pintail was enjoyed in the well appointed and relaxing garden. My partner went for a small portion of fish and chips. My expectations were exceeded with three mini pies (Beef and Binham blue cheese, Venison and red wine and Fish (Salmon) pie. It was accompanied with a generous portion of creamy mash, pie sauce and a selection of tasty vegetables. Simply brilliant.

ONLY HAD EASTER SUNDAY LUNCH. DID NOT STAY Very traditional English pub aesthetics, complete with fields nearby and beer garden I had the lamb Sunday lunch. A strong rich Gracey smothered the perfectly pink meat. Lovely homemade Yorkshire puddings. I thought the roasties could have been a tad less crunchy ( a bit sore on the teeth), and I could have done with a few more. Nice steamed vegetables were served to accompany (not pictured) The brownie desert was very dry, and tasted more like a cake than a brownie. Not enough ice cream to counterbalance. All things that are easily fixed.
