Stumbled on this little eatery while visiting Knaresborough on a Sunday lunch time. We went in to get maybe a sandwich and thought it wasn’t going to be great to be honest but ended up having a cooked lunch and it was so good! The place was busy and you could tell they were locals as they were chatting across to each other. We looked at the menu and decided to have have a cooked meal. I ordered pie chips and peas and my husband a burger with chips salad and coleslaw and a pot of tea. You could actually get a 3 course Sunday lunch for £14.50! When mine came there were no peas but another bowl soon arrived full of fresh vegetables and a big jug of gravy. Food was really good the staff were lovely. The lady said that as she had been cooking Sunday lunches she gave me some of the veg. We were thoroughly impressed and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again. Great food and great value for money! Definitely worth trying!

What a drab, depressing place.Went in to have a coffee and cake.Realised as soon as i entered it was a mistake, drab decor reminicent of a care home dining room.A woman on the left with a hacking cough really cementing the feeling of a waiting room to the grave.Out of politeness ordered an espresso to go.Lady returns with a black americano. On pointing out the error she returns to the kitchen, half complaining to the lady in the back. To top it off , I try to pay by card, and she humms and haws.I reasonably point out the card machine is right behind her.To which she responds "I know where it is". To save trouble i offer cash, hand her 2.50 for the 2.35 coffee.Had to remind her that i needed change.... I like to support independent shops, but if your going to survive put some effort in.

Can’t fault the food; we went on a Saturday and we had the best home made steak pie EVER! Please try it. I promise, you will go back!! We love it!

We found this cafe on route to Wetherspoon we we knew we could get a fry up for breakfast and we made the correct choice to eat here. In the current Covid checks, everything expected such as sanitizer, face masks for staff, barrier between tables and requesting contact details. As for food, the full breakfast was freshly cooked, hot and tasty. Prices were reasonable and we were happy to return the next day.

My wife, son and I stumbled across this wonderful place, while stopping off in Knaresborough for lunch on our way home from our holiday in Northumberland back to Lichfield. We all had steak and kidney pudding with mash and loads of vegetables - one of the best steak and kidney puddings that I've ever had and I've had a few over the years! The lady who served us was extremely helpful and clearly knew all the locals and seemed a very caring person too. The prices were all great too. Our only regret was not having any room in our tums for what I'm sure would have been excellent deserts - even our son couldn't manage one; a first for him. The staff had also taken great care over Covid-19 safety, with well spaced tables and chairs, well cleaned and with screens as well! We will certainly go back again, if we are ever in that area.

We were fortunate enough to stumble upon this hidden gem on the way from the station to the town, hidden just off the high street the two ladies gave a warm welcome. Whilst the premises are small their adherence to putting covid social distancing measures in place was admirable and clearly shows that the customers are important to them and I’m guessing they’ve had to lose a few tables to make this happen. My husband had a delicious full English and I had a huge toasted teacake. You could smell the Sunday roast which was mouth watering, definitely one for next time we visit.Thank you for the advice on visiting the castle

This was our first family meal out since the apocalypse began! We noticed this little cafe on our Knaresborough wanderings during lockdown and waited for them to reopen. We were not disappointed. We reserved a table as there are four of us which was very easy via Messenger. The welcome was very friendly and the service very quick. The food was delicious (sausages yummy) and cannot fault anything. Will definitely be back

Felt immediately at home then enjoyed homemade food at its best. We went on Wednesday which was market day but had to return to Portsmouth. Would love to have tried the Sunday roast and appreciate why it's best to book. However, I think this family run eatery would do everything they could to accommodate you and you wouldn't leave hungry.Located on Jockey lane which is obviously narrow (car width) but just look out for the fun/furry green teapot outside to discover this Yorkshire gem. We parked on the high street and used their parking permit for TWO hours. Would definately return. Thank you all from me, my mum and daughter.

Food not great, average at best. Whole cafe smells of chip fat and I left with my clothes smelling of chip fat, unpleasant. Presume this is as the kitchen is nearly open onto the cafe and has no ventilation?? Older lady was lovely, younger one very off hand. Absolutely would not recommend

EXcellent food, very warm welcome from Michelle and another lady, super clean, good location and dog friendly. Clearly popular with local residents, which is always a good sign. Browsing around the town on a chilly Saturday lunchtime, we spotted this charming eatery in Jockey Lane, and we were not disappointed with our choice. An excellent lunch of gammon steak with home cooked chips, and succulent lamb steak, roasts and vegetables, served with a smile from our host, Michelle. We will definitely return on our next visit to Knaresborough.

The food was basic but excellently cooked. Good range of simple food on the menu all well priced, great value. Unfortunately this place desperately needs a kitchen extractor or a door between the kitchen and dining areas. We absolute stank of fat fumes for the rest of the day having had to

Just returned from a having a lovely Mother’s Day lunch at Scotts Eatery. It’s a cosy little place, very central, tucked away down a side road off Knaresborough High Street. I went with my mum, husband and two kids. The food is beautifully cooked, plentiful, and the chef was happy to accommodate changes to the set menu (my children are very particular with what they will eat !). We thought we had very good value - lots of food -Really pleasantly surprised at the quality and amount of food for the price and warm friendly service. Would definitely recommend.

Tucked away down a little side street, whilst it may not look much from the outside, it was well worth a visit as the food was fantastic. We went with friends for Sunday lunch and the choice and quality of food was excellent. We all had roast beef with Yorkshire's and the potatoes/vegetables accompanying the meal were really tasty. We followed our lunch with a great choice of puddings, all for a total cost of £10 per person (3 courses would have been £12.50). Staff were very friendly and attentive and they deserve to do well - we will definitely be visiting again.

Popped in whilst looking for a quick lunch. Very unusual setting for a tea room but works well with about 10 tables set up between the pews & the altar. The pews act as an overflow area if all tables are taken but we arrived as one was being vacated. Very friendly staff, a relaxing atmosphere and excellent value for money. Menu is limited to a choice of rolls, soup and a tempting range of homemade cakes & scones. Rolls could have improved if pickle, mustard or mayonnaise had been offered but the cakes & scones made up for this as they were very nice. The church itself is a delightful building and worth a visit in it’s own right. An interesting alternative lunch option.
