My boys were very excited to eat here. It’s quite small if you want to eat in & you can’t book so pick your moment but it’s worth it. It averages about £6 per ice cream but exciting to watch them made with liquid nitrogen in front of you. Nice bit of retail theatre! Great flavours & beautifully smooth ice cream. Friendly service too. The banana splits were so good...

If you love icecream, you need to visit this place. We came in during a rare quiet half hour and enjoyed both lovely icecreams and a chat with the owners. Super friendly people with a love and passion for their craft. Everything is handmade by them! Of the three types we tried, the salty caramel was extra extra EXTRA amazing. Would eat there often if we lived here!! Fun to watch them make your order right in front of you.

Homemade ice cream with liquid nitrogen.... I don’t think that needs a review ❤️ friendly staff who will help you make the decision because it is so hard to choose! Took me a while to find as I couldn’t find the little alley ways but I can honestly say they have made my trip to Cardiff worth every minute.

Came across this place as wandering round. The children in the queue in front of me were spellbound by the liquid nitrogen when watching their icecreams being made. Not a wide menu but it changes regularly. I could really taste the fresh mint in mine. Def recommended

El menú no es extenso, pero el helado está hecho para usted utilizando nitrógeno líquido. Trabajé con nitrógeno líquido y estaba sorprendido de que el miembro del personal no estuviera usando guantes. Pero no perdió ninguna extremidad y todos disfrutamos de un excelente helado, que era muy cremoso y tenía una textura diferente a la del helado regular.

El helado realmente es el más suave que jamás hayas probado. Una buena variedad de sabores simples, hasta helados indulgentes y tés y cafés. Todo preparado amorosamente mientras esperas, para que puedas presenciar todo lo relacionado con el nitrógeno congelado que ocurre frente a tus ojos. No es barato, pero es un regalo maravilloso.

This small hidden gem is a fun place to check out. They make the ice cream with liquid nitrogen, therefor there is some cool effects while creating your ice cream. With an interchangeable menu with four items a day, the "scientist" are able to focus on these four creations and make them taste amazing! The ice cream is incredibly smooth and rich! The staff were very friendly and seemed to enjoy their job.

My daughter recently had her 8th birthday party here, it was absolutely fantastic!! The kids all had the best time making slime and doing sciency things with the ‘professor’, and the birthday girl got to make ice cream. The party food was generous and we all had ice cream which really is divine. I highly recommend.

Visited on the strength of the reviews here. Friendly staff, great concept and the ice cream was some of the best we have had, I would compare it to luxury ice cream. My 13 year old son said it was fantastic and something he would remember for a long time. Yes as other reviewers have said it isn’t the cheapest but it is worth it.

Wish I lived in Cardiff so that I could eat ice cream at this place on a regular basis! The cafe is science themed and you get to see the ice cream being made. I had a s'mores cone which had hand made toasted marshmallow on top- it was DELICIOUS. Really cool place that is well worth going to.

This delightful place will not only serve you very tasty ice cream (I had the vanilla and the salted caramel/white chocolate) but will put on a show preparing it for you. The serving person in her white scientist coat dons goggles and freezes the stuff before your very eyes, in a show of whirring machinery and foggy vapors. The result is simply one of the best ice creams I've ever tasted. Highly recommended!

Went here a few days ago and had vanilla ice cream. It was honestly the best ice cream I've ever had. Really creamy and cool. I enjoyed seeing how it was made too. I'll be coming back for another flavour soon 😊.

Where do I start? I was recommended this place by a friend who lives near Cardiff but beyond that had little idea what to expect. Decided to drop in during an afternoon of shopping after hearing about it on Instagram.

Had their black raven ice cream which is charcoal coconut dairy free ice cream topped with brownie bites. I thought they were tiny pieces of brownie but it was actually a cookie and it was sooooooo sweet. The ice cream was nice and creamy. My boyfriend didn't find it sweet but I find it quite sweet which means that it is just nice. Perfect for those who don't fancy ice cream that is too sweet. Quite pricey but if you go for the large, it is a lot and it is worth it.

Went here with my girlfriend. The ice cream is really nice though not cheap, very different though so worth a try. They also have a vegan option.

Took my family of 4 for ice cream and hot chocolate with a Groupon voucher. Turned up to a huge queue out the door of the shop. We don't mind this but after queuing 20mins we got to front of the queue and the staff then told us they had just run out and would be closing. I mentioned my voucher was about to expire and they were really helpful and apologetic said no problem to contact Groupon who would give a refund. However I did this and Groupon would not refund because the voucher had expired. I contacted science cream directly weeks ago to see if they could help and just never even got a reply from them. Out of pocket £20. Rubbish!

This is a really interesting place for all ages. Seeing the ice cream being made is fascinating, especially for children who marvel at the 'dry ice' evaporating and the staff in white coats. The ice cream is very smooth and definitely worth trying to compare against standard ice cream. It didn't revolutionise my tastes in ice cream, but I'm glad I tried it. The venue is cute but small, so don't count on being able to sit in.

Visited over the Bank Holiday weekend. Saw these guys in the street food festival last year but didn't get chance to visit. Thought we'd visit the shop as we were in Cardiff.I wasn't sure what to expect but the staff gave a full explanation and were very helpful and happy. It was great to watch and the ice cream was really smooth. O think they have 4-5 flavours per week with different toppings to choose from so plenty of choice. We will be going back

Found this place mooching through the arcades - what a find! A chemistry lesson of ice cream making! Great service too! All the family enjoyed the ice cream flavours with a variety of topping choices - so smooth! Excellent!

We visited on a Saturday afternoon but only minutes away from the chaos of the busy city centre shops were able to relax in this wonderful little ice cream shop.The flavours we tried were all lovely and lots of toppings to choose from but the salted caramel was outstanding. Reasonably priced selection of drinks also available.Staff were helpful and welcoming and even came looking for us when we left a shopping bag behind!I had wondered if this would just be a bit of a novelty with the liquid nitrogen being used to make the ice cream as you order but absolutely not it is delicious. I would definitely recommend a visit

Went with a groupon deal for ice cream and a hot chocolate. It was so delicious. Strange texture unlike normal ice cream but a great experience to see them make it. Hot chocolate was even tasty! Definitely recommend.

5 star delicious liquid nitrogen icecream. There was a problem with loading the Groupon barcode and Nerys was very helpful and went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The staff are very friendly and quick service, even though they were super busy. We look forward to returning.

It's a small quirky place, but you are very quickly amazed upon entering with all the ice cream making and mist behind the screen. The flavours are anything from your standard to something you wouldn't consider mixing. Tasted lovely. It was worth a little visit even just to see how it was made. Would go again.

This is a quickly little cafe in a lovely arcade. Its a bit of a gimmick but fun to watch clouds of the gas being used to freeze the liquid. The flavours were really interesting and the texture of the ice cream was so smooth. There was a little bit of a queue but I felt it was worth the wait. The staff in the shop were very friendly and it was a bit of a novel experience so worth doing if you are visiting the city. My sister and I really enjoyed the taste of the ice-cream and we have eaten a lot of ice-cream in our time! I am glad however that I don't live nearby as I think I would eat far too much of this lovely ice cream!!

Had a Groupon Voucher tonuse which included two small ice creams and two hot chocolates. The ice cream itself was very tasty and was fun to watch being made. The hot chocolate was also above average taste wise. Will go again and try some other things next time!

Finally visited Science Cream yesterday after years of walking past it. It is in a lovely location and is very eye catching with the liquid nitrogen. We placed our order of ice cream and hot chocolate and sat down. The service was fairly slow, we were waiting for about 15 minutes. The ice cream itself was nice and smooth but nothing particularly special. I'd definitely recommend going here once as it is an experience but it certainly isn't somewhere you'd visit for the stand out quality of their food or drinks.

This is a quirky place in a very pleasant arcade, so overall worth a visit.The premise is great, icecream made with liquid nitrogen and they even wear white coats to complete the scientific theme.There are very few seats and those that are there are somewhat wobbly. Given the popularity you are likely to end up taking away rather than eating in.When we were there they ran out of liquid nitrogen 2 hours before closing time. Not good form when this is what you do. Bit like KFC runnning out of chicken!I would recommend this as part of a visit to Cardiff

I cant praise this business enough! We visited today (23/03/17) it was fantastic from when we walked in. We were greeted with a smile, everything was explained to us and for me someone who is not a huge ice cream fan was blown away at how amazing the ice cream tasted, and my boyfriend who is an ice cream fan loved it too.

The initial appearance was interesting, and my kids liked the clouds of nitrogen, that never gets old, but I feel the novelty wears pretty thin, the ice cream I found overly sweet, and I would of liked more showmanship. Seemed the staff member treated it like any old day in a cafe, but I feel It should be more unique considering its concept. More science please!

Living in wales meant this was a must but believe me it was the biggest waste of time and money , the staff didn't practice any safety as no goggles worn and they had no customer service, didn't smile didn't explain anything, just given a clipboard with 4 different icecream flavours. Just give you this advice save your money and take your children to Joe's ice cream in swansea where the prices are cheaper and the ice cream tastes like ice cream.

Loved this quirky cafe but the ice cream was flipping gorgeous. Can't explain why it was different but it just was. Softer and it didn't melt into liquid near the end, it stayed creamy to the last mouthful. Texture was smoother and it was packed with the flavour. If I lived in Cardiff I would be going there every weekend!

I came with friends. I liked the creativity aspect involved, I ordered a milk chocolate ice cream with oreo and peanut crumb and cookie dough. The cookie dough was still in the oven when we arrived so we had to wait a little which was okay because it was so lovely when we came. Definitely recommend the hot cookie dough as a topping. The toppings are only 25 pence extra but for the amount of ice cream you get in a small (Alot!) you would need a lot of toppings, otherwise its just the ice cream. A small is definitely more than enough for one person unless you are sharing then maybe size up. Definitely a place where you can bring children but limited seating.

Science Cream is one of a kind! It is special and delicious! The way of making it is fascinating and incredible, and taught me a lot! Me and my friend went there and I had a brown butter fudge ice cream, and my friend had double chocolate ice cream, and we both had cookie dough on the side. It was divine!!!!!!!!! Mmm! Will be going here again real soon, two days to be precise!

Lovely new thing to try with your partner or as a family. You can view the ice cream being made and it tastes delicious. Only ask is more of the toppings, as it was a bit on the smaller size!

Took my ice cream loving daughter as a birthday treat after lunch. It was great and have to add it was the best ice cream I've ever tasted. The portions were a good size there was no tiny portion.

Well, well......I do like ice cream in all its forms and I was fascinated to learn of Science Cream's 'interesting' method of making the stuff...so I had the opportunity to pop in on Saturday - something I'd been anticipating for ages. Sadly, I can't find enough positives to say the goods and the experience was even average! The place? Bland. The stools? Uncomfortable! The welcome (only a few of us there at the time)? Non-existent! The staff? Two members of staff in their eerily-clad white doctors coats? Both had faces like slapped daps. A good start, then! Next... the ice cream......Confused? I was. After 40 years in administration I just couldn't work out what was what, with what - all so complicated. Anyway, the ice cream? Ok (what there was of it)....glad I wasn't hungry as the portion I had was miniscule and, paying £5 for the portion, it really was a huge (well, small) disappointment. So....not a great time at Science Cream. Very pretentious. I'll give it another 12 months. Will it still be there, in the Castle Arcade? I don't think so. That's a pity. It could and should be so much better!

Ice cream made to order, unusual flavours but tasty.There is a choice from a few flavours to which you can add sauce or sprinkles.They make the ice cream in front of you by using liquid nitrogen.It makes it really smooth.They've got a special range for Hallowe'en including a black one called the Raven which is a lovely coconut flavour.

Something different to try once in a while, had a blueberry ice cream, which probably wasn't the best choice as it was more like a sorbet than an ice cream. Would be good if you could sample some of the ice creams as the flavours aren't the traditional ones.

We popped here to try the ice-cream made with nitrogen as I had heard good things. We got there and it was really quiet, we were quickly served and our ice-cream was made up for us. Not only was the ice cream the smoothest I have ever tasted but also the theatre of it was great. It isn't the cheapest ice cream you have ever head but it is well worth it for a treat now and again!

I've been to Science Cream a few times now, and absolutely love it, with a backbone of rotational classic flavours, they offer fantastic seasonal flavours on their menu constantly, changing the menu once a week to offer variety, be it depending on seasonal fruit, such as the apple pie flavour, or something more fitted to the occasion, for instance, the phenomenal "Christmas tree" ice cream, (Pine flavoured, with chestnut cream on top)The staff are courteous and always willing to answer questions about the process of their liquid nitrogen shenanigans which result in a smooth ice cream, with various hand made toppings too, including my personal favourite of grilled white chocolate.

The first time I went here was July, but since then I've been coming every other weekend! The ice cream is so smooth and watching it being made with the liquid nitrogen is so interesting. I've tried a variety of flavours but my favourite was the brown butter caramel. The toppings are also crazy good, with the malt white chocolate and the peanut butter Oreo. The freak shakes are to die for as well with the marshmallow and brownie topping. Will definitely come back again!

I am a fan of Science Cream and using liquid nitrogen to make ice cream never gets old for me. However, I visited you at the Street Food Circus very recently and was disappointed. All your flavours are more or less brown ice creams. What happened to the Strawberry ice cream, where have the other flavours gone. I know you have a cherry flavour in the parlour, but what about the stall. Please debut or bring back other flavours. I'm sure the ones you have at the moment are lovely, but I'd really love to see others.

All the right ideas just done slightly wrong. It's nice for the kids to watch it all going on but for the price there's nicer places around Cardiff. What you actually get is not much. Glad we went but probably won't go back, Won't mark it down simply because it's clever, there are better around if you keep your eyes open tho.

We ordered several different flavours that just tasted like something else. The chocolate one was undoubtedly the most disappointing of all them. I wonder what they used as chocolate flavour for that... maybe something similar to the cheapest version of nesquik? That makes me think that the quality of the ingredients is so poor, that even using liquid nitrogen to reach a nice creaminess and texture is not enough. Toppings and sauces were quite terrible too. I believe they could make up good ice-cream if they change the raw materials used. Anyway, other people seem to like this place, so maybe our taste buds have just become atrophied.

Had a freak shake from these guys on Friday as they were at the street food circus. Best milkshake ever! It was so delicious but oh so filling. I chose the one that had peanut butter and jelly sauce, ice cream, a whole brownie and toasted marshmallow on top. Absolutely delicious and worth the £5! Will definitely be back!

The ice cream is spectacular and it's better than your average ice cream parlour because they make the ice cream in front of you with nitrogen!

In this ice cream parlour, you choose the ice cream you want and they do it in a couple of minutes, right in front of you, using Merlin-like techniques. And believe me: the ice cream is delicious and very, very soft. A truly new experience to repeat.

Me and my friends really fancied some ice cream and had heard about this shop in a Cardiff food brochure. The concept is really unique, with staff dressed in lab coats and using liquid nitrogen to freeze the ice cream right in front of you. The shop was empty but it still look quite a while for three of the same ice creams to be made so I can imagine the queues get long on sunny days! We opted for Brown butter flavour with salted caramel sauce and peanut brittle. The ice cream was almost £4 for a small but well worth the money as it was delicious!

Stumbled upon this place yesterday whilst we showed some friends around cardiff.Kids loved it - sort of science / cooking lesson all in one.The ice cream was just amazing - made FRESH in front of our eyes and tasted so so so so much than anything else we have had.The staff dressed in Lab coats and looking like they were Doctors of Ice Cream etc
