Charming surroundings in this small boutiqe Tea room. The staff are friendly, the food is good and really large proportions. My wife and friends ordered toastie but actually they could have ordered only half as one order is big enough to share between two. Next time we are in the vicinity we will definitely be back

We came here after a recommendation - but I understand it has changed ownership. That's all I can put it down to. It was a miserable experience, and I just couldn't wait to get out of there at the end of our meal!!! A lot of stuff on the menu seemed unavailable. The food was mediocre. We saw another couple having soup and the dishes only looked half full! The place smelled fusty. It wasn't exactly service with a smile, not welcoming - a very inexperience waitress who looked like a rabbit in the headlights - and no music, so the atmosphere was just rubbish. I wish I'd just walked back out again!!

We visited Yorkshire for the weekend and made the trip into town to have a look around. We are both vegan and finding somewhere where vegan options were not an after thought was very difficult. Then we found this tea room, the menu was lovely to see! There was so many options. It is themed for 40's and upstairs 60's and 70's and quite honestly it did smell like my Nan's house. It was fun though, the food was nice, average sandwiches but still so nice to see such a huge selection for vegans.

Our eyes were swivelling around spotting all the toys, vinyl sleeves and images from the 60s and 70s upstairs in this gorgeous tea room. Loose-leaf tea served in quirky tea pots and with china cups and saucers. Delicious cakes and friendly service. Make sure you seek out this gem in the back streets of the town down towards the castle. Bakewell topped mince pie was especially good.

Pleasantly stumbled across this vintage tearoom while perusing the wonders of Knaresborough. Vegan options were plentiful as one of the women who works there is vegan - so I was very happy! Staff were all friendly, polite, and accommodating. Decor is very interesting with many vintage artefacts that strike up talking points for some and trigger memories for others. Food was fairly-priced, delicious, and delivered quickly. Humongous choice of vegan cakes (highly recommend the lemon and blueberry cake!). Place was immaculately clean. Please seek this gem of a place out and go if you're ever in Knaresborough.

This was an extremely enjoyable cafe experience. The cafe is set over two levels with a kitchen space upstairs. As soon as we entered we were guided to a table. The tea china is already set out on the tables and there are board games, old recipe books, knaresborough guides on each table. The young waitress took our order quickly and everything arrived very quickly. The teas came in generous teapots. The sandwiches come with side salad and crisps, and were well presented on the plates. The Wensleydale and fruitcake was delicious: crumbly with moist raisins. Young waitresses were hardworking, on the ball and helpful. We would love to return for a freshly baked scone (it was so good to hear that a second batch of freshly baked scones had just been taken out the oven at lunchtime). I loved the WW2 home front posters, 1940s cinema posters and vintage recipe books. Really great cafe that deserves local and tourist support.

The property is very disjointed which makes it difficult for staff to recognise when customers have arrived and require attention. I sat for some considerable time and was going to leave when I was eventually approached by a pleasant member of staff who asked if I was ready to order - she did not realise that I hadn't seen a menu. Once I ordered it wasn't too long before my lunch arrived. Prices were comparative with others in the area. Staff were pleasant enough but a little harassed. I have visited some good tea rooms in my life, but this one is by far the worst i have ever come across! The service wasn’t great at all. The tea cups were dirty. The food was terrible. One of us ordered a salad; the salad leaves were brown and old, pepper seeds weren’t removed, tomatoes were over ripe! The presentation was horrendous, it looked like a salad made by a child!! During the meal no one came to check whether the food was good. So we ended up with a salad that was never touched and could go straight into the bin. No one turned up for the bill, so had to go up myself. Once I had a look in the open kitchen I was shockend to see foodwrappers of Morrisons everywhere ! Such a class for a suppose to be well established tea room (not!) We will never come back and will definitely not recommend the place to anyone.

Came across the tea rooms whilst strolling around Knaresborough. It's courtyard setting looked really appealing. We sat outside and it was quite a sun trap and sheltered from the breeze. We only wanted tea and a cake and the waitress apologised and explained that they didn't have many left as it had been a busy market day. The tea came in a pretty vintage pot, with mis-matched old china. I had a scone served with jam and cream, which was absolutely delicious. (There was a choice of four jams, I think!) The flapjack was very nutty and came in a ball shape, which was unusual. In all, a nice way to end our visit to Knaresborough.

I ordered a smoked tofu salad which was lovely, a chai tea and a lemon blueberry cake. I was so impressed that there were about 7 vegan desserts to choose from! I took a chocolate flapjack home. All the food was delicious! There were games on each table including playing cards, dominoes, yes/no and lexicon. There were also travel guides including the local and surrounding area. On our subsequent visit (driven by the 1st visit) it was as different again although in fairness the food remained very good ... however rather than feeling Scarlett’s was dog friendly, we felt it was dog tolerant and being cramped in a small room with 3 tables and 3 other dogs, which also housed the food store with staff members walking through every couple of minutes, it was a truly uncomfortable experience and one I won’t repeat.

They were both delicious and filling and the whole meal was very good value. No room for cake afterwards, but we went back later on to sample them with a cup of tea, and were not disappointed. The owner is vegan and is gradually veganising all her cakes, so there was plenty of choice for me. I settled on the sticky date loaf and my partner had carrot cake (one of the few non-vegan ones left on the menu). Would love to go back - it's almost worth planning a holiday around it!

The amount of fresh vegan friendly food options and cakes is mind blowing. The staff are super friendly and the vintage decor and 40s music gives this little place such a warm and unique atmosphere that you definitely want to come back for more :)

Despite visiting Knaresborough at least once a week, I have never been to this tea room until today and it was just fab! There were little games on the tables so we had a game of dominoes! The tea is served in china cups and there is the added bonus of being ale to buy second hand books too! Will be coming back to try the afternoon tea!!

Found this little gem on a wander through Knaresborough one Sunday afternoon. Our regular coffee stop was full so we decided to seek out another place for refreshments. We came across this little cafe in a small courtyard of local businesses ( Art studio, sweet shop etc) and were enticed as they also sell used books. We found the place small but charming and a nice menu. Old books and games ( dominoes, cards) were on the table for passing time so we broke out the dominoes and enjoyed a few games with our tea and coffee. A lovely little spot and we will be back again soon. Recommended.

Really nice little shop with lots of gifts. Little expensive, but expected for Harrogate. Selection of chocolates at front were lovely, apple strudel white chocolate was incredible.

Visited on a sunny Saturday lunch. Food was excellent. Fresh crab soup and warm baked bread was brilliant. Fish pie superb and Baked Alaska to finish rounded it off so well. Sat in garden for coffee. So calm and welcoming. Location, food choice and service was very professional, personal and friendly.. Will definitely make a return visit even at 150 mile round trip from Sunderland. Superb all round

Best afternoon tea about! Mama Doreen’s never disappoints, the food is beautiful as is the fizz! The staff are friendly, attentive and extremely patient (when customers are being outright rude and difficult). Big shout out to Elliot who was amazing, thank you for making my mums birthday so special! Can’t wait to come back soon xxx

Great coffee & food at this lovely independent cafe, situated near to the stray and to town on Cold Bath Road. It’s so friendly and has a really welcoming atmosphere (even if, like me, you don’t cycle!) There are so many cafes to choose from in Harrogate, but this is my favourite - hands down!
