I thought the madras was different but still nice

First time in 40 years of visiting Indian restaurants I sent my meal back after just one bite. It was simply horrible. Masala sauce was tasteless apart from a slight chili afterburn, the naan bread tasted like it came from Asda. Waiter was most apologetic but we still got charged over thirty quid for a meal we didn't eat. Seriously upset and angry, serving food like that to paying customers is shameful.

Had a lovely meal here last night. Was made to feel so welcome when we walked in, and quickly seated. Lovely menu choices, food and drinks came quickly. Poppadoms and starters were gorgeous, really big portions sizes, main was just as tasty, really good quality chicken. Will deffo be back next time we stay over in scarborough.

This Indian food is as light as a feather and very well cooked in a great surrounding. Looks like they have a few more finishing touches to carry out, but the cuisine is amazing, and the service special....

Popped in to collect our telephone order. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I was only in there a few minutes but was really impressed with how modern and comfortable the interior looked. We all really enjoyed the food which tasted fantastic. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely be returning for a sit down meal inside. Thank you

BEST EVER INDIAN meal we have both ever had. From the Starters Poppodoms, Chutney Tray and Mushrooms in sauce, followed by Chicken Korma,Chicken Tikka Masala, Special fried rice and Naan bread one plain one peshawari. Naans very light fluffy and flavour so nice. All food perfect flavours not too weak and not too strong.Wow. Service impeccable from start to finish,place immaculate,staff greeted you coming in and leaving,came to check all was well with the food, at the end received hot lemon wipe, shot drink and token of chocolate. There was nothing we could fault. Absolutely 💯 %, we will return. All well worth the money. Would Recommend.

Good food, good service, great atmosphere. Would be full five stars if there were some more spicy options. All the curries were mild except for the vindaloo. Asked if they could make another dish a bit spicier, and they said "no". Most restaurants would accommodate this. Otherwise a decent restaurant.

Read the good reviews and decided to have dinner while visiting Scarborough. Maybe I was just unlucky and caught them on a bad day but did not enjoy this eatery at all. The decor was bland and no atmosphere. The service was slow and the food terrible. Had a biryani, which was dry and tasteless, did not come with sauce, the starters looked very unappetising, didn’t eat. Left feeling hungry. Will not return.

As a party of eleven we recently visited this restaurant and had a great dining experience. The decor is contemporary with a lovely ambience and buzzy atmosphere, we particularly liked the open kitchen and my goodness the Chefs are extremely hard working. The staff who serve are professional, polite and very efficient and all our chosen dishes were delicious, well presented and of good quality ingredients. A big thank you to all staff for a very enjoyable experience, we will certainly be arranging a return visit in the coming months.

We visited on the 12th February and the food was excellent: high quality standards with phenomenal service. Venue was decorated lovely and very clean. The whole experience was exceptional thank you so much for a lovely evening.

We turned up on a Friday night without a booking. We were warmly greeted and our request for a Table for 2 was accommodated without hesitation. It didn't matter where we sat as the whole restaurant is pleasant and all the tables are nicely situated. The friendly and efficient service continued and we proceeded to order our food. A combination of starters and mains was ordered and I can safely say that this is the tastiest Indian food that we have tasted. The food was well presented, piping hot and the taste and quality of the food was amazing. The price was in comparison with anywhere that sells good food. The staff are friendly and provide a warm and welcoming environment. They are attentive but not over bearing. Would I go back? A definite "YES". Would I recommend? A definite "YES"

Got a meal what was cold and dead flu in it told waiter he took away brought bk in 1 min exactly the same with no fly in it Absolutely disgusting told management he just laughed. Will never go here again. Can't believe he laughed and made into a joke. Dirty ...... Please be aware mangment don't care as long as they get money off you.

Food came cold without flavour tasted bland and the drinks had no fiz what so ever they brought the wrong food and we was told to just eat it this was disgusting service very disappointed considering the price will not be returning I would highly recommend you do not go if you value your hard earned money.

Management absolute appalling, took family out ordered 11 lemonade drinks All flat like water told Manger he said because ice In it only had It 1minutes he said I carnt change it "as there to many" Also order x6 garlicky naans but brought out 3 larges ones and said it's cheaper. Ordered three different fish curry's brought out three exactly the same when I asked the waiter he said we don't have stock of the other two fish curry's. This was apsulte disgusting of this restaurant When I spoke to the manger ( with glasses on) told him and he said it cheaper and laughed. I said you must be very desperate for money and paid in full and walked out . I will never go in there again. Desperate crack head I thought to my self. Just think twice before going here, I went with 11 people the was all upset with him for a ruined evening.

Came here on NYD and it was busy so glad we booked. We were seated pretty quickly. We had poppadoms and lamb chops for starter. For mains we took Chicken Shaslick and Chicken Chilli Massala both were full of flavour and delicious, we had a side of aloo potatoes, boiled rice and a naan bread. Would definitely recommend if you like a traditional Indian curry. If we visit Scarborough agin will be returning here.Service was good.

After being let down by another restaurant we popped in on the off chance. The manager was so welcoming and made room for us. Food was delicious, and very reasonably priced. Staff were really friendly and efficient. Definitely made new customers from us.

First time having a takeout from this restaurant and the food was lovely! The chicken korma was very tasty, nann bread was a great size and chips were a great portion size also. Also came with free poppadoms which was great! Would say it is a little pricier for a takeout with total coming to £30 for 2 kormas, 2 chips and 2 nann breads, however it was lovely. Will definitely try the dine in as the restaurant looked nice inside.

This is one of the best curries we have ever eaten. I had the butter chicken tikka and it was delicious. Starters also amazing and the breads and rice were perfect too. Don't hesitate to visit, you won't be disappointed! Excellent service too. Thank you!

Fantastic food, hot and morishly delicious. For the 1st time visit Thought we'd over order as I had there special, rice,naan aswell as poppadoms and hubby had sheesh kebabs, lamb chops and naan. Looked alot but we didn't stop eating soo good Staff were so friendly, welcoming, helpful and happy, restaurant clean, bright, spacious which made our experience so great. Will be back next week

Went for a curry before the show at the spa theatre. Good selection, good quality of food, pleasant staff. Very busy but they coped very well

Had a great meal at the Scarborough Tandoori last night. Particularly enjoyed the Lamb shank Pao Bhuna. Attentive and helpful staff.

First time on Saturday night, No booking walk in customer. No issues finding table even through it was very busy. Staff super efficient with drinks, and poppadoms. Main meal was delicious and didn't want it to end. 100% recommended.

Always busy and the Best interior of any Indian in town, the food however isn't as good as 3 other Indian restaurants that are a short walk away.

Fabulous food. IMHO the best Indian restaurant in Scarborough. We've been coming for a while and went back with friends having not been for a while over the summer period. Still excellent. Nan bread get a (positive) review to themselves I think! Good for omnivores and vegans alike (we had both in our group). Fairly large restaurant with reliably good service and excellent food.

Went here at the weekend with a group of friends. Had a booking for 8pm but the table was not ready and we had to wait around to be seated. Once we had ordered, our starters arrived quickly but we had a long wait for our mains. The wait staff did not keep us up to date on the status of our food but did repeatedly come over to ask us if we wanted new drinks (which felt less like attentive waiting and more like trying to sell extra drinks as we were stuck waiting). Eventually out mains arrived. I had the lamb biriani but unfortunately the lamb was dry. The fish pakoras I had to start were also underwhelming, and the peshwari naan was far too sweet (I could feel the crunch of the granulated sugar) it tasted like a Welsh cake. All in all it was a middling experience.

Had an excellent meal tonight. Food was amazing. The naan bread was massive. Service was spot on. No complaints at all. See you again soon.

We went to this restaurant completely on spec - we did not book - but they were very friendly and accommodating. The food was really delicious, the staff were very efficient and professional and we were treated like royalty. Thank you all.

Best Tandoori mix I've tasted in a long time with good portions. Had chicken madras with special fried rice, which was also excellent. Highly recommended.

We visited here on a recent trip to Scarborough. We struggle to find an Indian that is as good as our local one. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the food and would not hesitate to return when we visit Scarborough again.

I went for a meal here on Saturday 7th September. The curry was excellent. We ordered poppadoms to start with. They were very bland, tasted like they had been around for a long time. If I go back I will avoid the poppadoms, just go straight in for the curry. I did tell the waiter they were disappointing. My husband makes poppadoms, so We know how they should taste.

Had 9 people to feed after running a charity event all day with one the following day too. I phoned through a big takeaway order. It was ready at the given time (very unusual for Scarborough Indian restaurants). Staff were courteous and kind and carried all the bags out and put them in the car for me. When we unpacked and sat down to ate, there was silence. People genuinely enjoying their fabulous curry, all were delighted with their choice and there was nothing left over, all eaten up. The next day everyone wanted to know where it came from as it was so good. Can't wait to go back again - and again - and again! Thank you Scarborough Tandoori

Modern decor and clean Restaurant. Staff friendly and helpful. Most important is that the meal was delicious and plentiful. Will definitely come again when we’re next in Scarborough.

Very popular restaurant, great food great service,reasonable prices. Walked in on a busy Saturday and were given a table within five minutes, were having drinks and pickle tray ten minutes later while we were browsing the menu, will definitely eat here again.

Not traditional food at all, if you want to name it Indian Restaurant please have some authentic food, all the curries had same taste. No difference in Bhuna, Jalfrezi or any other Curry. All were same in taste. Very small portions too. We won't be coming back!!

Been here a couple of times and it's a reliable option. One of the nicest looking restaurants in the area, very tastefully decorated. The food is nothing special, but edible (most Indian restaurants and takeaways these days all taste the same).

Nice restaurant, decent food and friendly service

Ate here 3 years ago, while family remembered it as the best curry we'd ever had. Returned last night, slightly concerned it would live up to the memories. We needn't have worried, excellent food & great service once again. Declared our favourite again, also loving the new giant naan breads.

Not bad ( high praise from a Yorkshireman ). Seriously though, this is an excellent Indian restaurant offering superb value for money. Their food is top quality and is well cooked, not overly spiced. It is authentic in taste, very true to what you would find on the sub-continent. If you like authentic Indian food, you'll fall in love with this restaurant. We first discovered this place over 20 years ago, but this is the first time we've been to Scarborough since. It's as brilliant as it was back then.

Very nice clean place. We were served by Wasim, who known the full menu and was able to guide us to choose our food. The food is very tasty and delicious. Couldn't fault them in any way. Thank you all for a fantastic experience.

My wife and I have been coming to Scarborough Tandoori for over 20 years. We've brought friends and family and eventually our own kids. When we visit, we're treated as family. The food is GORGEOUS! (I especially recommend the King Prawn Chaat, Fish Johl and Chicken Makhani). Mr Ali and his team are wonderful. Friendly, efficient and polite. (My 6 year old daughter said her favourite part about coming is seeing Mr Ali.) One of my favourite restaurants ever and we don't even live in Scarborough any more but we go in every time we visit.

Hadn't booked a table and restaurant was full when we arrived. Only had to wait 25 minutes and chose our food whilst waiting with a drink.

I am not from the area but visited this restaurant as close to the hotel we were staying at. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Ordered a variety of dishes (starters, mains, sides and bread) and the quality of the food was top class. Only downside (which is not really a complaint) was that the starters were not worth the price.....two very small samosas and four very small pakoras. Other than that then highly recommended and would return if staying in Scarborough again.

Very limited menu but nice atmosphere. Food was not 'spicy' enough. Lime pickle a bit bland. Seek kebab had no bite and jalfrezi very mild.

Visited bang on 5pm on a Monday for an early dinner before a concert at the Open Air Theatre. Have been to countless numbers of Curry houses and have to say that this place was first class in all respects, exceptionally clean and modern with friendly and attentive staff. Lamb Pathia was very tender and tasty, Chicken Handi Saag succulent and Naan breads were perfect i.e thin, moist and hot 👍. Will definitely visit again if we get the chance.

Busy evening trade, food was excellent both vegetarian and meat curries also good size portions just over £60 6 poppadoms 2 curries 1x rice 1 large Naan and a bottle of wine.

Just had a fantastic meal here. Service was exceptional we waited 15 mins more than we should of for our main which we weren't bothered about but was still giving a complimentary drink. Really good Indian place, was a bit confusing going in, I called up the day before to make a reservation for 1 at 5pm, called up on the day to rebook the reservation for 8pm as I had a large meal earlier in the day I was a bit full. Got there and was told by the Maitre D they don't make reservations for 1/2 people and that I might have got it mistaken with Royal Tandoori, called them by mistake etc. I cross checked the number later on though and it was definitely them I called. Just pass it onto your team and make sure whoever answers the phone is doing their job as I had to wait 10 minutes for a table then, if you're not taking reservations for 1 on busy days then the staff answering the phone need to communicate this to their customers. Staff were great though, really attentive and friendly team, ladies on the bar were excellent, there's an Indian I really like in Altrincham here and it was every bit as good as that if not maybe better so that's something in my eyes! Had some lovely Poppadoms and Chutney, Onions etc. to start, really nice fresh onions, fresh poppadoms. Then had Onion Bhajis which were lovely and for my main I had a Chicken Balti with Pilau Rice and a Garlic Naan, all in all a great place and I would definitely come here again.

The food was Fantastic we all enjoyed the starter .The service from the staff was also first class, no rush nice and steady so we enjoyed our meal. The main course also top notch . Went away on a weekend to Scarborough and I have to say the place is amazing. Walking around the town and was craving some Indian so google came to rescue. Scarborough Tandoori was suggested first. The restaurant had a beautiful atmosphere and the staffs were amazing. I went for the garlic naan and garlic chicken and hubs went for the special pulao rice and a jug of mango lassi. I wasn’t too satisfied with the garlic chicken but the naan was amazing. Lassi was way too over for two people but they only did a jug. So had no choice. Overall the atmosphere was great, food I would rate at 4.5.

What a lovely restaurant The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was delicious Loved the onion bhaji and the coconut peshwari naan was the best I have ever tasted Felt really comfortable and happy throughout the meal. Will definitely return and recommend.

We were staying in Cayton bay and decided to go out for our evening meal ,we looked online and came up with a few names but we chose Scarborough tandoori ,and we weren't disappointed!! 😋😋It's is a very modern contemporary restaurant that looked very Nice as we walked in and we were greeted by a gentleman welcoming us to the Resturant , he showed us to our table and he asked would we like drinks nks to be ordered ,we both had lager with choices of several for an brews we chose Cobra and it was very good , we chose our meals from an extensive menu we shared our mixed kebab starter came with salad garni that was very enjoyable as was our freshly cooked shami ,shish ,chicken & lamb all was very tasty popadums was an excellent start , my husband chose a Chicken Balti I have issues with spicy food so I chose butter chicken both shared a pilau rice and keema naan, we thoroughly enjoyed our night at Scarborough tandoori and would recommend this classy Resturant with polite staff and gorgeous food
