Sat inside to eat. Urgh! Grubby interior. Unclean, sticky and well-worn tables and chairs. Food served hot, but overall quality far less than average. Very run-of-the-mill. Level of service only adequate. We've been in hospitality for over 40 years and always maintained higher quality and levels of service than this. It's a shame, because the pub is historically quaint and set in a picturesque village.

We called in for lunch on Thursday. The lady who served us was very friendly and the pub had a warm cosy atmosphere. We didn't have to wait long for our meals. I had steak pie with chips and seasonal vegetables which was absolutely delicious. I don't normally eat cabbage as I don't like it, but the cabbage in this dish was the best I have ever tasted and I ate it all!! A really lovely visit and I hope to return again soon.

Been here a few times and on this occasion we’d had a country walk and ended up here for lunch. A roaring fire on the go and friendly staff. Firstly, we had Mussels and then we had pie and chips. All the food was homemade (including the pies) and delicious.

We visited this pub for lunch and a few drinks just before Christmas, hoping for a cozy but not crowded experience and we were not disappointed. Beer and wine are good quality and good range. Menu also was varied and I felt was very good quality pub grub. I really enjoyed the steak pie. We messaged via Facebook the night before to book a table and got a prompt response and a spot on table in the bar but set aside so we felt part of things but not crowded. Very friendly staff too.

My second visit in 2 weeks and we were so impressed both times. Staff were friendly and helpful, thoughtful and the food was excellent. Table service only, the order was taken promptly and meals were freshly cooked. I believe some food was locally sourced too. Steak Pie was meaty and tasty and I can recommend the chips (delicious - much better than the anaemic skinny offerings at other restaurants) I had scampi today, other members of the family had chilli con carne and the steak pie. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We went outside for our coffee, mum wasn’t able to sit to the picnic table, but there was no problem with us taking a chair out and when mum complained about the sun, staff immediately brought out a table umbrella. Great value for money too.

Myself and my partner went after a rugby match and we’re going to go else where for food but decided to give the local Savile Arms a go. Really wish we hadn’t bothered. They’d be buggered without a deep fat fryer. I ordered the garlic mushrooms to start and they’d cooked them in the fryer and then mixed them into the garlic sauce. Very greasy. Then I ordered lamb chops and my partner ordered the mixed grill. My lamb chops look like they had been cooked and then re- cooked. Needles to say I would have had more texture and flavour chewing on a brick. Despite that the rest of my order was…. WRONG! And my partners mixed grill was over cooked and smothered in oil. After expressing our disappointment and dissatisfaction we then got slammed with a £43.25 bill. Now that isn’t a lot for a meal that you thoroughly enjoyed and would gladly recommend to other folk, but for the inedible food we received… it’s a damn right joke. THE WORST meal I’ve had in a long time. Beer and service average Food, appalling.

What a great place. My husband and I have been before and even in these strange times,we weren't disappointed. The food was wonderful, ample portions and piping hot. Served by friendly and engaging staff. We were a safe distance form other diners. The only minus thing was I had to search for the hand gel when we walked in.I t would be better being either wall mounted or easily accessible on entry. A lovely evening.

Took advantage of the eat out help out deal. Been to a few other places near by, but this was the best by far. Friendly, attentive Staff. We had the garlic mushrooms and nachos then the mixed grill and fish n chips. It arrived within 15 minutes and it was hot and delicious. We’ll definitely be back.

We arrived Friday night to a packed pub. Although understaffed the young barmaids gave 100% and made us all feel comfortable and welcome. Particularly, the barmaid named Alyssa; she was very nice and went above and beyond for me and my friends; anything we needed she brought. The food was decent but it took way too long to arrive therefore id only go for drinks again.

Went at lunchtime, been wanting to visit for years and never got round to it. Got seated right next to open log fire, very cosy and rustic! Staff really welcoming and food came fairly quickly, but we were the only ones eating so can’t comment on what it’s like when busy. Good value hearty grub in a proper boozer, pleasant surroundings, some parts of the pub are aged but I guess it adds to the experience. Will definitely go back again

A real cosy old world pub with good home cooked food, real ales and a reasonable selection of drinks. They’ve really got a great balance between drinkers pub and food pub which is rare nowadays. Been here a few times and always a great atmosphere. Friendly staff.. service not the quickest but food is prepared to order. You do need to order at the bar - did note one reviewer said they’d waited 50 minutes to order, presume they were waiting for order to be taken at the table. Very reasonably priced.

We booked in for a relatively early Sunday lunch and were welcomed and served promptly. The menu consists of mainly traditional dishes, made with local produce where possible to avoid air miles. Portions were generous and food piping hot. The steak pie was a large slice from a homemade pie, not microwaved, as often elsewhere. The staff were happy to accommodate variations : eg. no chips but a larger salad (with 12 cherry tomatoes!). Some might find the background music a bit intrusive, but the atmosphere is nice and friendly, and the food good value.

We went as a group of four here recently. We ordered 3 starters and a side order which we requested to come as a starter, as well as 4 main meals. All came in good time, even though there were other people eating here too at the time. When the starters came, the chef requested we let them know when we were ready for mains - not unreasonable given the amount of people who were eating. The main courses were all lovely and we would certainly eat here again.

An authentic and comfortable 17th century inn with a roaring real fire. Hard to find but worth the effort. A selection of traditional ales and good old fashioned "pub grub". My companion had the pate starter, which was a meal in itself, followed by the scampi and chips (enough for two people!) and I had the large portion of home-made steak pie and mash – all of which were fresh made and home cooked. With 2 rounds of drinks the bill came to just over £20. Well worth a return visit… if I can find it again!

If you are tired of the mass produced restaurants in the Bradford Chain Bar area, head towards Birkenshaw and turn left to the Saville Arms. The pub is only a short distance up the road and looks rustic from the outside. Inside the pub is traditional, a local place to eat and drink. We were served by a friendly bar man (who could have been the owner?). We ordered Steak Pie and Scampi, both were delivered hot and were both delicious. I would recommend you try this place if you are in the area.

Thought we would try this place out not impressed with the overall experience of food the Sunday dinners beef not great nor the service waiter/staff took telling over 3 times for desserts had to wait over 30 mins for just brownies in the end just had to say cancel it too much time for something that take a couple of minutes to do the next day most of the family had upset stomachs wouldn’t recommend this place unless the service of communication to the cook and food standard is more on point than mediocre presentation we were compensated some money off the desserts but even the brownies are nothing different that shop bought similarities and tight portions to say the least the differences between kids to adults sizes not by much. To say the least and the only major positive was the decor of the overall place well set out looks inviting at least.
