I ordered a takeaway from here last night and it did not disappoint! Takes around 1 hour for delivery so make sure to order well in advance. Food was still hot when arrived which was good and such an authentic taste. We ordered a lamb madras, lamb was nice and tender, rice, bombay potatoes, onion bhargi, keema naan bread and poppadoms. The curry has a good kick of spice to it and we throughly enjoyed it. Will be ordering from here again next we fancy an Indian takeaway.

Good food but too spicy. I had a vegetarian option as I love Paneer but it's too spicy hot. If it had the same spiciness as the chicken Tikka masala thatc would have been great

Friendly service. Really good, busy atmosphere. Resanably price. Tasty food. Had the Tikka Korma .. the chicken was delicately spiced on its own, when mixed with the korma sauce, it bought out the best combinations of flavours. Wednesday nights, they do a tandoori deal.. which smelt and looked moreish. The only issue was the unisex toilets. Regular floor cleaning/ wiping and toilet seat wiping is needed for gentlemen who can't aim..

We used Sanjha as our caterer for our daughter’s wedding last year and they did not disappoint us and everyone was praising the food and the service. We went to the restaurant for the one year anniversary meal today and the experience was even more exceptional. We have tried different curry houses all over the UK but this is by far one of the best. The food is so fresh, the service is excellent. Recommend this place to everyone.

I can honestly say just had one of the best dinning experiences ever The level of service and quality of food was nothing short of exemplary. The food is amazing and of high quality. We were not rushed at all dispute being very busy making it a very enjoyable social evening for our party of 4. We shared a vegetable and meat starter platter which where both very good Mains were the 2x Lawrence Road de Tawa da Lamb, Chicken Korma, Yellow Daal, rice and Naans. Can highly recommend the Lamb dish so very flavourful and perfect level of spice Given some complementary dessert which was a nice touch Easily in top 3 curry restaurants in Southampton.

Not so good this time…. I had lamb and was poorly prepared with too much gristle in it. You dont expect that at Sanjha!! Watch out for the chairs as two people on getting crashed theirs noisily to the ground (they are seemingly very back-heavy). Part of very beautiful new furniture however the inlaid tables are amazing.

Great atmosphere and good service. Veggie pakoras were crispy and delicious. We think shrinkflation has occurred as the portion sizes were smaller than what we remember. Shame the Lamb was grisly which does not bode well for future non vegetarian choices for us. Hope the standard of food stays good as we love eating there. Proper authentic Punjabi desi flavours should not be compromised because that is key to successful North Indian food.

Firstly upon entering, the atmosphere is very cozy and the decor is amazing. Very lovely. We ordered 2 drinks and the set menu for 2. This was a tad confusing at first but essentially you get the starters together then separate dishes one of each main then 2 deserts. You also get popadoms. I was offered to have my starters placed separately to the meat as I'm vegetarian which was very thoughtful. Popadoms were lovely and crisp. The chutneys were very nice also. Starters were lovely I had the vegetable and and the veg samosa. Nice and lightly cooked. My friend opted to try the Murgh Malai , fish pakora and the Gosht Seekh which he liked very much also. The main was Butter Chicken,Lahori Kadhai Lamb, Saag Paneer Tadka Daal, Pulao Rice & Mixed Naan Basket. We split between meat and non and both found our dishes very tasty. the only slight issue was the Saag Paneer as it was pretty much a paste in the dish with what appeared to be 2 paneer pieces. We tried but were not able to finish. The desert we decided to take away with us opting for the Gajjar Halwa and Gulab Jamun. this was in a tuppawear pot and the Gajjar Halwa was not so good by the time we got up the road however the Jamun was very tasty still lovely light hint of flavours and very soft delicate texture. All in all a pleasant new experience and the staff were very welcoming, helpful with our questions and requests. Thank you!

When complained about it, got some unsatisfactory answers covering chef's side.2) Tall Waitress said "I don't even know these dishes in the menu" for every single thing on the menu card. In reality it was her job to explain recipes.3) 'Kumbh Hare Pyaas aur bhutte' has baby corn written on the menu. However it wqs served with Sweet corn. As my title suggests this restaurant doesn't just go with the norm. The dishes are authentic style and not just for the english palate. The menu still has usual english indian dishes on - if you like. The food is very tasty, hot, fresh and nicely served up. Some will say it is a little gimmicky perhaps...But why not if you are going to a restaurant. It's fine to go to an american diner and sit in booths made out of Cadillacs so.....The service was good. I wanted to leave a tip but we didn't bring cash - Most restaurants offer add gratuity to your card payment but they didn't here. The waitress said they had suggested it to the boss but it hasn't been implemented. You should get it done! Cobra on draught... :)Price was fantastic. If this were in a big city centre I think the prices would be a lot higher and I would be happy to pay more for what we received. I think due to the location the pricing is right. We payed £55 for 2 courses and a few beers. The only disappointing thing for me is the location! Bit of a nightmare parking. But once you are inside you could be anywhere in the world. The atmosphere was great too! We were a table of 2 on Saturday 25th October at 1930. This was our second visit here and both have been great. We will be back with our friends.

I was really pleased when the Sanjha originally opened, offering a refreshing alternative to the standard British Bengali menu. The dishes are more recognisable as authentic indian, generally a little spicier and and supported by more natural flavours. It was great to see them do well and open up an interesting little restaurant adjacent to the takeaway. Unfortunately, standards have slipped a bit. The food lacks care, the ingredients they are using (especially the meat) are not the same quality, I suspect they are actually cooking a lot of the dishes before hand now and simply warming them. Service seems to have got disinterested too, not sure it's the same friendly and helpful people working there. I hope it improves, but as things stand I'll only find out second hand as I'm not going to bother with them again.

I was amazed to see the restaurant interiors and they way Punjabi culture has been show cased. We spoke with the Manager in my language Punjabi. The food quality was amazing and the quantity was good. I live in Basildon (Essex) and most of the so called Indian restaurants are run by people from Bangladesh background. This was real curry food. There are very few authentic punjabi restaurants in Essex, the good ones are in Southall. I wish Sanjha chula can open a Branch in Essex. It would be great.....

I have had several takeaways from Sanjha in the past and always rated it highly. So thought would try the restaurant too. Decor is a definite step up from the standard flock wallpaper curry house with interesting drink vessels, cutlery and serving bowls too. Service was friendly and very prompt, especially as there was a large party in at the same time.Food in the main was good, I especially enjoyed the Mirchi Vada which I had wanted to try previously, but didn't think would survive a takeaway delivery! Tandoori mixed grill was huge - couldn't finish it which is unusual. My friend enjoyed her vegetable biriani too, although we both thought that the vegetable curry which accompanied both of our dishes was very poor - insipid with an uninspring mix of vegetables. I have genuinely had better out of a tin. Will definitely return though, and if having something that comes with the mentioned curry, will ask if it can be swapped for one of the vegetable dishes from the menu - which have always been excellent in takeaways.

This is a delivery order that was placed online. Worst Indian meal we've had in Shirley, there are far better takes outs! Delivery time was quoted as 1h 15minutes, but we still had to wait an hour and a half! When it arrived everything was only 'warm' (not hot), which meant the naan were soggy, as were the onion rings (which tasted like cheap frozen ones). Everything tasted fairly salty, including with watery mint / yoghurt sauce. The mango chutney must have been watered down too. My chicken balti tasted hot and sour, but without much depth of flavour (which was unusual), and too salty for my palate. It was also a lot greasier than we've been used to recently, most resturaunts I've used in last few years have cut back on the ghee / oil. On the plus side there was a lot of chicken, but I've had better quality. Most of it went in the bin. We were offered a free dish with our next order, because of the delay, but we won't be ordering again.

Again visited this superb restaurant on Saturday. We were the first customers for the evening, arriving at 17.35 but it was no problem for the owner who ensured we had everything we required, served at the relaxed pace I prefer.I asked the owner what the chefs speciality was and she told me the "Punjabi Chicken but it comes on the bone" I said that wouldn't be a problem and it wasn't, the dish was superb, not overly hot but very flavoursome and certainly different from anything I've eaten previously.I also had (again) the Dal Makhni with Bhaturas, now if you've never eaten this dish at this restaurant you haven't lived, it is a dish to die for believe me!! I have tried many times to recreate this particular dish and sadly failed on ever occasion, so this time I asked the owner exactly how the chefs make it, and was I surprised!! The Chefs at this restaurant make their Dal Makhni over a 48 hours period, simmering the black urid dal, letting the spices infuse, then adding the cream and final spices, now isn't dedication and skill to a profession taken to its limits?I would add that it is reasonably priced and spotlessly clean, the service is everything you could wish for and the food out of this world, simply the best Indian food I've ever eaten in 55 years of Indian dining.

We asked if she could turn the air con down as it was when it had been snowing in January and we were freezing cold, but the lady seemed not be very happy to do so. Almost felt like we were inconveniencing her. The music was off for ages and there was no atmospshere we could hear everyones conversations around and that was awkward. Having said all of the above the food it absolutely outstanding!

After being bought up on home cooked, flavoursome, fresh curry all my life I have never been fond of shop bought or restaurant curry. Always at best mediocre it's usually unexciting (I detest the British love of boring "safe" korma),and to sweet or salty and mainly over priced. I would always rather enjoy my dads curry or cook my own with his help and my broad stash of cookery books. That was however until I visited this gem of a curry house. Although it is more than that. It is a friendly, cultural hub of good food, with a good atmosphere to go with it. The restaurant which has been open for around a year due to the takeaway being so popular and expanding is clean, well furnished and has a happy and warming atmosphere to it. Little touches such as the musical instruments hung on the walls and traditional glasses and cutlery make this restaurant a interesting place to eat in and enjoy with friends and family alike.I try to go once a month as a pay day treat, and always enjoy a good meal. Usually opting for the onion bhaaji's for starter which are crisp to perfection and served with salad and a lovely dip. For main I order the brown onion rice,a naan or chapati and some sort of lamb dish. The lamb with three types of coriander is out of this world, and the lamb with dark rum is to die for too. Drinks are fairly vast to with bottled beers, cocktails, mocktails, spirits, wine and softies. The staff are friendly, well presented and knowledgeable. The manager is also usually present and has a openly approachable persona to him.Overall the whole experience of Sanjha is a happy and enjoyable one, which won't brake your bank balance either. And if your a student or member of the "Jackson Day Card" student scheme for Southampton you can get 10% with every order.Seriously take my advice and visit this dream of a restaurant. Other curry houses up and down Shirley high street don't even touch it.I for one have never been let down and Im sure you won't either...!?! :-) Emma

The food is authentic!(unlike a lot of UK restaurants which serve tweaked recipes). You can smell the fragnance in the food and has a good flavour. Service is prompt and very friendly staff. They even were ok to us customising our food to our likes. A chat with the owner Amar and you'd realize that he is a foodie himself and knows the delicacies from the length and breadth of india - thats passion!. Living in Southampton, me and my mates have tried most of the restaurants and easily rate this restaurant the best. Hands down! Must try!

Such a great restaurant and I don't know where to begin. I spent 3 months in the punjab 5 years ago and this is real authentic cuisine. Really happy to recommend as always friendly and accommodating to my family. The portions are large and very high quality. There's been a few occasions when things have taken time , but frankly worth the wait! (All cooked to order which is my preference) highly recommend

I have used this restaurant pretty much since it opened as just a takeaway and enjoyed my meals.Recently over the past 6-8 months i feel the service and food has been lacking and steadily going downhill. As a regular you would expect a smiling face and a chat but the customer service is all missing. Our last meal was awful to say the least and will no longer be spending my money here.My friend has recommended a different restaurant locally and will from now be using that.

This weekend we visited the restaurant with our friends .We found the seating area cramped and not comfortable our seat were continuously being brushed past by other diners and waiters. We found the service slow and the waiter not very helpful when trying to order our meals. It smelt wonderful as the kitchen is actually part of the restaurant unfortunately the food when served just wasn't upto the standard or quality we would expect for the money. All in all it was an uncomfortable and disapointing meal.

We were invited to attend a Christmas meal with friends and having never been to this restaurant before was a little apprehensive however we had nothing to be worried about I'm in a wheelchair and was made very welcome not everywhere does this. The staff here were an absolute delight to get to no throughout the evening always tentative and wanting your experience to be a good one the food well I have never tasted anything like it the meats melted in the mouth the rice was as light and fluffy as you can get everything we and others had that evening and trust me there was a far few of us all remarked on the quality of the food .Great food great atmosphere great staff fantastic company good portion sizes, and only last night hubby and I had a take out from the same restaurant and all I can say is it was exactly as the food was in the restaurant and to the same quality the best bit about the take away was that the time they said it would be with us it was all pipping hot and so so tasty will we be ordering again most certainly excellent keep up the great work..........

My first visit to this restaurant in Shirley, Southampton was a wonderful experience. A bright, modern yet authentic feel greets you on entering and the staff made us very welcome. Having booked a table in advance we were shown promptly to our table. The menu is extensive, and well explained to us. All our meals were superbly presented, cooked and were delicious. No fault could be found. This restaurant deserves great success, and we shall be returning time and again I am sure

We live just down the road from the Sanjha so it has always been our favourite takeaway since moving to Southampton. We were delighted when they opened a restaurant as well. The food is wonderful, especially the vegetarian dishes! The couple of times we've eaten in the restaurant, we've had a lovely meal and a very friendly service but on both occasions one of our courses has been forgotten and we've had to remind the staff which course we're waiting for - just teething problems I'm sure. Highly recommended.

I have been to Sanjha's 3 times in the past 2 months since moving to Fareham. Yes, we (me and my wife) travel 20 miles for good food. Plus points: The Paneer Burji is to die for, the Baigan Bharta is tasty, Aloo Tiki is crispy. Good decoration. Good waiter attention on Saturdays and even at quiet times on weekdays. One main is ideal for 2 people to share. They do small portions if you want to try. The butter naan is fluffy and remains soft, dosen't go rubbery! Paneer Tikka from the clay oven is done very nicely, salted lassi is superb with roasted jeeru on top, Negative Points:Don't sit by the window in the winter!, they're not double glazed and no heating nearby, Chana masala is not to my liking, Pani Puri is bland with no mint sauce, Haka Noodles isn't that great, the onion bhajia's are average and oily, veg samosa's are basic,

Last minute out for a curry and hadn't booked so gave Sanjha a go. Drinks and Poppadoms arrived whilst looking through menu. As new to this one, took a bit longer to decide what to eat. Went straight for mains. Butter chicken - delicious, Chicken Kalimirch Wala ok but very mild in comparison to the Butter chicken, we had a couple of Vegetarian dishes (starter size) and the potato cakes with chick peas to accompany the meal for the three of us. Judging by 3 empty plates and lots of empty serving bowls the meal went down well!Cosy atmosphere, very polite waiting staff who all look very smart in their blue uniform. My son can't do too spicy found this just right! We will return as was an enjoyable family meal. Only criticism - found it a bit chilly in there, shame the door for the Take-away (which was very busy) is the only way in!

Tonight we ordered our meal and were told 25 minute to 1 hour wait. 1 hour and 30 minutes later after 3 phone calls to the restaurant, one of our guests had left so we had to return one meal on delivery, and the 2 of us left picked through the small amount of naan that wasn't burnt but still smokey tasting, the meat from a very strange tasting lamb dhansak and finally the spiciest 'mild' buttered chicken I have ever had. Terrible service, awful food. We will not be ordering from sanjha again!

This until a few months ago was a humble take away, but now has a restaurant attached to it.The decor and atmosphere is excellent and the food is exquisite. Every time we have had a take away or eaten here it has been constantly excellent. I rarely am able to say that about any establishment, so well done.If you want to give it a go they do a very reasonable £15 set meal for two (takeway)This of course is nothing like actually eating at the restaurant and having one of their signature dishes. Many of my indian colleagues swear by this place, and I can see & taste why!Service 9/10food 10/10value 9/10atmosphere 9/10

We have been getting takeaways from Sanjha for some time, but last weekend was the first time we have eaten in the recent restaurant extension. Service was excellent, and a mix up with my main was sorted out very speedily. Food was delicious, with a favourite being the potato stuffed chilli with tamarind and yogurt. We will definately be visiting again soon, and will be recommending it to our friends.

Visited twice the first time the food was very good but the service was average. The 2nd time it was very chaotic and either thing but calm and was told the owner was away catering for a large Indian party. We sat down waited over 20 minutes and in then left without being served. We had takeaway from them anyway which was superb. For me the food is the best Indian/Punjabi in town, but it must be careful not to ruin its reputation by over stretching the staff and kitchen. We will return but not at the weekends.

Just returned from Sanjha - yum, yum! When it was just a take away, I always wanted to eat here but I was put off because I didn't recognise many dishes. Anyway thought I'd give the restaurant a go. Brilliant! The service was impeccable, drinks great and the food, wow I feel like such a fool! Wish I'd eaten here a long time ago. Superb food, rich with flavour, decent sauces packed full of ingredients. Really pleased I ate here and shall be back! Shirley is up and coming, and places like this make the difference. I can't recall the names of the dishes I ate (new names) but I had king prawn.. and my mate had the one with rum. we had 1/2 and 1/2 both were really good, full of flavour, a little kick but not too much to ruin the enjoyment of the curries.

Mint Dosa in Southampton is a hidden gem for South Indian food. Their paratha bread is a highlight—light, flaky, and full of flavor, it’s the perfect pairing for their delicious chicken curry. The curry itself is rich, aromatic, and packed with tender chicken that melts in your mouth. The warm and welcoming atmosphere, combined with attentive service, makes dining here an absolute pleasure. If you’re in Southampton and love authentic South Indian flavors, this place is a must-visit! I thought it was a little pricey, a bit cheaper and I'd give it five stars

They didn’t answer the phone after 5 or 6 calls, we then ordered online and they wouldn’t accept the order. They proceeded to not even answer the phone to their own delivery service when they were attempting to help us. Terrible.
