Bangla Balti House in Southampton

Used to be Good food-fast service, the chef has now changed, curry was powdery on two occasions, keema nan was under cooked and lacking filling

Ordered food from here for the first time last night. Food was good, service and delivery good, would recommend.

You put one of your flyers in between the windscreen wiper and back window of my car. Do not touch my car again.

By the name Bangla balti I visited to get the taste of some Bengali food (Bangla) but it was a big disappointment. I have ordered bhuna chicken suggested by the staff but the gravy was blended with uncooked onions, extra turmeric with no or less spices and sweetness due to raw onion. Plain Nan was ok Garlic nan missed the strong garlic flavour but Papad (Papadum) was good. Bhuna means dry roasted and their was nothing which can be classified as dry roasted. (Tasteless) Will not recommend any North Indian.

Haven’t even got my delivery even though they said they delivered ???

Orderd food , asked to have it hot and tasty , after a hour received the food but it was oily and not hot chillies wise. I rang told them a person said the manger is not here call tmw. I ring the next day and get told the same, after 3 days I ring again I get told by the person that I ordered that’s our food not going to do nothing about it, I don’t care what my staff says but that’s that I’m doing nothing about it. He was so rude, spent over £40

Firstly, tried to deliver to our neighbour! You've heard of "where's Wally"....well my curry was "where's the prawns"? Loads of very flavoursome sauce, but very little else. So HUGELY disappointed as the last time we ordered, food and service were amazing - thought this establishment was going to become our 'go to' place, but sadly not. On a positive note, my husband quite enjoyed his Chicken Tikka Madras and the peshwari nan was OK (but possibly a little too sweet). Still looking for a local Southampton Indian takeaway that consistently delivers high standards - but this place for me, isn't it. For £30, my expectations were nowhere near met.

Menu clearly states nan bread included with balti curry. None delivered and when I called to question this I was told the online menu is old and it’s no longer included. Misleading advertising and a con. They also claim a food hygiene rating of 5 on their website while the official ratings site confirms only a 3 when tested in February 2024. Avoid this place!

Ordered some food through just eat the delivery driver phoned up and told us he handed our food to someone outside our block we called restaurant and they said we never ordered and has got nothing to do with us even though we did they must be scamming people this is totally unacceptable ******BEWARE DO NOT LET THEM SCAM YOU AVOID ORDERING FROM THESE INCOMPETENT IDIOTS ********

Phoned up and asked how long wait would be told 45-50 mins okay no problem ordered our food for it to arrive 1hr and 30 mins later, with the food being undercooked and cold, phoned the restaurant straight away to get it collected and money back was told no get discount on next order as if we would order from there again, we refused that option so was told driver would return in 40’mins to collect food and give refund. Nothing 2 hours later so called up to be told manager sent out fresh food to another house by mistake and was told driver had gone home so can’t have a refund that night. We was then told to come back Tuesday for a refund and guess what today was told no. Don’t use this restaurant, manners and customer service is shocking. Money grabbing establishment for undercooked and cold food. Avoid at all costs. Watery curries, undercooked boiled chips cold rice etc. will never ever order from here again. I would personally not even rate this 1 star. Disgusting

They changed the chef,which food is a lot different and more expensive.

I would give 0 score if I could waited a hour and a half chips weren’t cooked food was freezing cold when I phoned the shop the guy was rude, do not order from this place will be reporting this company to food standards food is absolutely horrible how can you send this kind of food out to customers it’s disgusting I do not recommend ordering from here

Chips with order were undercooked, main tikka meal was bland. Order chips instead of rice so disappointed with meal due to above

Best Indian takeaway around Southampton got introduced to it best part Of a year ago and haven’t had a bad meal yet lovely stuff

Firstly, I trust any restaurant where I can see a kitchen, kinda shows to me they have pride and confidence in their work and cooking area. Secondly, while they were cooking my meal and others, I was still greeted with a smile and a "how are you?" an experience that seems rare nowadays. I waited a short while and took my food ready to go. Food was well cooked and every dish we tried from the set menu for two was delicious throughout. I can't handle my spice so the wife took care of those dishes for me and I eat other bits. We ordered Bhajis and Peshwari Naan on top which I think are always a must and they too were full of flavour and huge. We were so full we have had to save the rest so portion sizes are also a plus! If I had to give one slight against the place it'd be that delivery is cash only and in a post COVID world I never carry it. However the pickup experience was so good I'm glad I went. Thanks again guys we will definitely be seeing you again soon.

Friendly staff, great freshly prepared food and at a very reasonable price. It's always our #1 choice for an Indian take away.

ordered 2 meals mine was lamb balti which was full of buckshot from a shotgun which tells me these were not killed humanly complained and took the food back and was refused a refund terrible customer service please avoid this place and my wifes meal was totally wrong when she spoke to him on the phone he said well that's what you ordered darling not interested at all please dont trust this place avoid at all cost

awful experience order totally wrong , had loads of buckshot in my lamb balti which tells me not humanly killed ,must be done illegal spoke to the chef really not interested I'm only the chef attitude, after complaining was told a new delivery was on it's way but didn't want it went down to see them in person and was totally ignored, please dont try this place I'm going to Packard this place place as it's a joke

Ordered my usual order. Lamb balti, chicken korma and boiled rice. My chicken dish totally wrong! My husband found buck shot in his lamb! Phoned the restaurant to complain, eventually spoke to a manager who said he would speak to his supplier about the inhumane way of killing of the lamb. He then said he would place the order again. I told my husband I wasn't happy with this. I phoned the restaurant manager who said "sorry darling too late" we've started cooking it, too late for a refund! I told him I will leave a review telling people of the inhumane way of killing of animals and my service, he said "Yeh, I will reply!

Myself son and daughter have been using this takeaway for years and when I moved to Wide lane 7 years ago they were still delivering to me. At the weekend it was my birthday so we phoned for a large delivery only to be told we dont deliver to SO18. I tried to explain that they had always delivered to me but the man I spoke with was extremely rude and just put the phone down on me. I was really upset and my son and daughter were angry with his attitude. If they had said sorry due to cost of petrol we no longer delivery there, or they could add a delivery charge that would be fair enough. There is no need to treat customers so disrespectfully.

Really nice vindaloo and my Fiancee and friend liked their tikka and korma too. Friendly service although the older man sometimes gets very confused. The keema naans and rice were spot on too.

Down for ‘ Let’s Rock’ & staying locally with my son. Decided to take a break from the festival & have a’light bite’. Full vegetarian meal with all side dishes ( including chapati & pappadom) was enough for 3 of us!!. All freshly cooked & we enjoyed every mouthful of our food. How they do it for the low prices they charge, I do not know. 😊

Amazing fresh food been eatting hear for years and interduced so many friends. They have a open kitchen and you can literally watch them make your food from scratch perfect quality and always quick and friendly service Very very highly recommended

We love indian food and have tried loads of takeaways. This place is by far the best takeaway in Southampton. We ordered by phone many times but recently collected our order. We were surprised that you see all ingredients and the food cooked right in front of you. The smell is amazing and all of the ingredients all look good quality and super fresh. The staff were also lovely and very helpful.

We were recommended this take away by family. We ordered online and when we collected our meal staff were very pleasant and we were impressed that they cooked in front of us. Everything was really tasty, and spices spot on. Our meal was also still hot when served up. We have since had a second meal with friends and all really enjoyed it. Thank you. We would recommend you try a meal here.

Having moved out of the area 7 years ago, and regular customers previously, enjoying our favourite take away was just heaven and well worth the 14 mile round trip to collect it. The best out there by far.

First time ordering takeaway from here but can honestly say what we had was delicious. I ordered the King Prawn dansak which was one of the tastiest curries I have had in a long time , my partner had a vegetable Rogon Josh which was also very tasty. Because the price was so good we over ordered with other sundries ! ... Will definitively order our Indian from this takeaway from now on .. Highly recommended from us .

Silly gentleman trying to pretend to be a English jack the lad type said 'What you after' instead of 'What would you like'. I couldn't make an order because apparently fryer was being cleaned, I am new to the area with a big family and wont be returning here ever again, I went to an Indian restaurant further down the road.

I have been using this takeaway as my one of choice in Southampton for some2-years: the cooking is fresh and the portions are generous. I like the chicken biriyani, the jalfrezi, the mixed grill tandoori and the Baltic especially. The prices are good too. The two guys cooking and serving are friendly and the order is on time when you phone in advance. It’s a 10/10 on quality and value for money. A big choice of dishes from an extensive menu. In the evening there is ample parking, you just turn left on Winchester Road and take the first left psst the bathroom showroom: shop .

Lovely meal, just as we remembered as regulars before moving away. Four years since our last meal with this restaurant and they still remembered us. The high standards are still there and the service is excellent. Best wishes to the elderly gentleman on his well deserved retirement.

Always a excellent curry. No matter which variety we choose! Love the fact they will oblige with certain ingredients to be added or removed. Nice its also an open kitchen so no hiding! Good fast delivery as well, but if busy they are always upfront about the delay and time to expect it! Wont order Indian from anywhere else END

An excellent Chicken Vindaloo with heat but great flavours. The vegetable paratha had a good filling and the naan was light and airy . The mushroom pilau was perfect . I have used other Indian takeaways in the vicinity with good results but this meal was exceptional . Thank you

Que son locales a este para llevar y tener siempre el menú de 4 cuando tenemos amigos y hay suficiente espacio para 5 o 6 probablemente! Menos de 10 libras cada uno. Están siempre dispuestos a cambio uno de los curris para nosotros algo que prefiere y la comida es siempre una gran calidad y muy sabrosos. Mucho mejor que en la misma calle jehangir para llevar y más barato!

We recently ordered a takeaway from here as our usual place was shut, we were pleasantly surprised, the food was lovely, and we didn't have to wait too long for delivery, we will definitely use them again.

Very very rude.hang up on.me twice cos I needed some advice on one of their dishes. When I rang again they showed no remorse stating they were very busy and had no time to be explaining things.terrible customer service. Would never reccomend them.shocking

I have eaten at bangla balti for a few months and I must say I have never been disappointed, amazing food with a great view of the open kitchen so you can watch exactly how your food is being prepared, the atmosphere is good and the staff are lovely guys, not much more I can say but I reccomend this place to anyone reading

A consistently good take-away, does delivery too!

Have used this takeaway for many years but never again. The delivery driver was stood around waiting for his next delivery but whilst waiting he started to help the 2 chefs, this is where my visit staryed to go downhill. To seperate the paper bags for our onion bhajis he licked his fingers, then whilst stood about some more waiting he then had his hands around his nose and mouth, once some of our dishes were ready he then proceeded again to help sprinkled corriander on some dishes and put lids on the takeaway containers, and not once washing his hands at anytime, he was going into fridges and getting food items out for the chefs and walking in the cooking area in oudside clothes, at this point I explained to the chefs what I had seen and asked for a refund, it was then that the chefs started to get aggressive and telling me to leave which I did after several minutes of discussion without either any food or refund.if you going to have an open kitchen then follow some very basic, simple and legal hygiene steps. A real shame as the food has always been very good and the kitchen clean, but I was appalled at what I had seen and the way they handled my complaint.I have been in the catering industry for over 20 years and felt well placed about my complaint.

The set meal is excellent value and quality and we always have enough for 2 meals-bargain. This is a family owned and operated business, and keep things simple-good produce well cooked at great prices-recommended!

First time visitor to this take-a-way but certainly won't be my last! I found the food here the tastiest I have ever had from a take-a-way. It was cooked in their open kitchen and the chef seemed to take care with all that he was cooking. It was a friendly atmosphere and one of the cleanest I have come across. They have a 5 star cleanliness rating, the top one! Location is not too bad but there is parking on the front or just around the corner as its on a main road. Well worth a visit. Enjoy!
