Coriander Lounge in Southampton

Been here 2 times in the last 2 weeks as working in the area. Both visits I was made to feel welcomed. The service and food are both 5*. I will definitely be returning here when I'm in the area again.

Great curry, thoroughly enjoyed it. Looks a great place to dine in too.

This was our third visit to 'Coriander Lounge', and as with our prior visits, this time certainly didn't disappoint either. The poppodoms were crispy with very nice relishes. We ordered the lamb chops as a starter that were tender, and the spices were delicious. For the mains, we had chicken and lamb shashlik and a prawn puri, accompanied by brinjal bhaji (aubergine), tarka dahl and garlic nans. The first time we ate here, I asked if they could make a duck shashlik, which they were more than happy to do. Unfortunately, this time, the waiter replied with a prompt 'no', which I found a little disappointing. That being said, all of the mains were cooked to perfection. The aubergene side dish was just right with no bitterness, while the consistency of the lentils were just how I like them to be, along with a superb sauce. If you are ever in Southampton and looking for a really top curry, then Coriander Lounge is definitely the place to visit.

I've ordered malaise kofta..They literally delivered potatoes in the gravy full if veggies. There is no kofta but a whole uncut potatoes in the dish..Do they don't know the meaning of malaise kofta.??? It was disgusting.

This is one of the best Curry houses I've been to. Excellent food and good beer. Well worth a visit if you are in Southampton.

Love this place! Have visited a few times for various occasions over the years and every time has been fantastic! Staff always welcoming, food always incredible and always a warm busy atmosphere. One of the best Indian restaurants in Southampton - and there are some good ones to compete with!!

Have been here a few times but this visit wasn't as great as previously. We were a group of 6 celebrating a birthday. We felt rushed placing our or ders and staff not as friendly as usual. Food was ok except one meal had to be rejected as the meat was tough and inedible. The ladies toilet facilities need cleaning attention.

Magnificent curry! I always order dhansak everywhere i go and it was fab.....onion bahjis were lush too!!! Great staff aswell

Visited with a supplier, most of us had Thali which was a mixture of small dishes. Very good food.

We book the Coriander Lounge whenever we are in Southampton. It was full on a Wednesday evening. All the dishes were excellent as always.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere

My wife and I attended the restaurant on Saturday and again it didn't disappoint. I would highly recommend the Chicken Lal Mirch. Good portion sizes and great customer service from the staff. A must do in Southampton.

Was ok.. take away was a better experience. Waiters were unbelievably noisy banging plates together.. made to feel rushed. Took the magic of any half decent review away.

The food was decent, but the service left much to be desired. The waiters seemed perpetually busy, making it hard to get their attention. The Chablis I ordered, priced at £33, was incredibly bland and disappointing. It felt like a rip-off.

Dinner for two on a Thursday, popped in for a quick main course. No poppadom's, one main course each with rice, £37. Food was decent, it was a busy night, what was a little disappointing was that from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, no one said Halo, how are, you?, how is your meal?, is all OK?, thank you for visiting...

The coconut cake is amazing! Super delicious! Came here with friends. My friends think the garlic naan is also delicious. The dishes are basically all kinds of paste. I have ordered shrimp, chicken, beef and mutton. They are all good and the portions are generous!

Exceptional well-run and pleasant Indian cuisine. Great tastes served in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Knowledgeable staff, and an accomplished proprietor too. Our first time - hopefully the first of many!

We visited on 8th sept 2024 for my daughter 16th birthday celebrations with a family meal ..we literally had the whole downstairs to ourselves ..the food as always is beautiful the service is outstanding always and overall really lovely experience and always our go to indian restaurant

Modern Indian with an excellent choice of traditional and special dishes. One of the best Indian dishes I ever tasted and I have been to top Indian restaurants in London . Very reasonable prices. Great service and great experience all in all . Highly recommended

Nice food, but service rushed. Went on a Tuesday night, so not very busy. Found waiting staff not very friendly and rushing around. Food is excellent though, just need a bit more customer service.

Been a few times now. This is simply the best Indian reastaurant I have ever been to, the quality and taste of the food and service is top class. Love my Indian food and nowhere else comes close to here, always busy for a good reason.

What an amazing culinary experience! The waiter asked us what we would like. And we said "enlighten us....We want to enjoy this cuisine to the fullest " He suggested Lamb, chicken, beef and prawn dishes that were filled with delicious flavors and tingled the tongue. For dessert, I had the most delicious lemon gelato I have ever experienced! A must have😋 Friendly, patient service. Delicious, tasty food. And an evening to remember. We always book an extra night in Southampton (pre cruise) just to eat in this restaurant. We have been coming here for 10 years and as ever it did not disappoint. We visited on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was busy, which speaks for itself. The food is consistently good and the menu is varied. I had the Thali which was great and allowed me to try a number of dishes. The staff work so hard and have always been friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful evening and will be back again as soon as we can.

Delicious food! Really enjoyed the Kashmiri Lamb and the Coriander Chicken. Would’ve enjoyed a little more spice but great flavours and textures. The shining star of Coriander Lounge are the lovely staff and attending service. Thank you for a great night.

Best curry house in Southampton!!!

We had one night in Southampton before a cruise so had a few pints in Spoons(the Standing Order) and found the Coriander Lounge near by and was really impressed with the food and the service would certainly be going back.

We had a lovely table by the window looking out on the historic holyrood church. Service was great, the food was wonderful. The bill was shockingly small! I'll be back.

Really, really great food. I have eaten many Indian meals but this was probably the very best; especially the Peshwari nann

It's absolutely fabulous. The food is fantastic, and the service is excellent/first class. Would highly recommend this restaurant as a must go to. Can't falt it.

Wow! Totally unexpected! Not only was the restaurant elegantly appointed, the wait staff was AMAZING. We came on a friend’s recommendation and it was by far the best meal we have had in Southampton during our short stay. Don’t miss it! 🤩🤩🤩

The food was really good! Was served by a young guy with curly hair and he was great! Mentioned the butter chicken is sweet, and trust me not to listen haha as it defo was sweet lol but still tasted really nicee! Enjoyed my meal. Even had hand sanitiser on every table. Will defo go back next time im in Southampton. Oh and it’s halal!

My wife and I had a lovely meal. The flavours were good and had a lot of depth to them not just smothered in chilli. Service was good and friendly coping equally well with groups and couples. Table cloths and linen napkins with prices very reasonable particularly considering portion sizes were generous. Felt welcome and cared for.

This is most definitely not a place to go with young kids but I can see how it would appeal to couples or groups minus kids. Food was okayish but the service was amazing from the younger staff. They’re definitely an asset to the restaurant.

This hidden gem that is located near the port in Southampton is an amazing find. The entire friendly staff provides fantastic service and the food quality is excellent. Highly recommend if you’re in town!

The food is tasty but it's a UK version of Indian food. Gravies/curries or biryani most of the stuff are bit sweet or not spicy. The person who has taken our specially asked to choose Indian Spicy or not but, food doesn't have a difference. The ambience is very nice and the restaurant is also well maintained.

I was working away with 4 of my friends and we decided to go for a curry, what a good move. The 5 of us all love a curry and at the end of the meal we all said that was one of the best curries we had ever had. I can’t remember what I ordered now but between the 5 of us we all had a bit of each others order and there was a lot of food envy going on!

Oh gosh their food is divine, so tasty and top quality. My favourite is the lamb passanda with garlic rice. Try it, and you'll never want to go to any other Indian restaurant.

Fabulous food as usual. Naan the best ever. Only slight criticism dishes were very hot. Immediately replaced one dish which was beyond the limit. No hesitation. Service was brilliant and replacement meal was great.

Last week we went to the restaurant to have dinner , We didn’t have dinner there as restaurant was full. But would like to mention this there was a gentleman may be a food and beverage staff was not welcoming at all and was very rude, being in a customer facing staff he definitely needs to learn how to respect customers on the entrance.

Staffs very cold or in bad mood. In theory they did their job but they was definitely not happy to see a big family. To entree until leave they didn't make any smile to us. We was already on under floor and at leaving the atmosphere on top floor (the Entree) was different, they was "normal, smiling" with other customers. Happy to not leave any tips. First and last time but thanks for the food.

We came here last night for dinner and I asked for an order off the menu (paneer korma) and the chefs were able to do this for me which was really appreciated ☺️ our food was lovely and pricing was great! Only comment we would make is that we were placed on a table right in the corner nearest the toilets which wasn’t great when there was other tables of 2 we could have been sat at but didn’t want to make a fuss! Will definitely be coming back if we are ever in the area again! P.S please add a little pot of mint sauce along with the onion bhajis 🙏🏻

I've been to a lot of curry houses in different cities since it's my favourite cuisine and Coriander Lounge in Southampton is still my absolute favourite. Me and my family have been here at least 5 times already. Amazing food that's always worth the money and really warm atmosphere

We went with very high expectations but food was way below par.

We were two times here and everything was excellent. The food is authentic with homemade spices, thick gravy. We had lamb biriany, excellent, lamb chettinad and chicken Dhansak ( a bit spicy but really good).

We enjoyed a lovely meal last night. The portions were plentiful and so beautifully presented, the choice on the menu was vast. This restaurant is designed with a modern style and the lighting was just right. We will definitely be going again and would recommend a meal there.

Ambience was okay , though it was indian cuisine but it didnt felt authentic . Would never recommended anyone to visit here if they are looking for authentic indian food.

Order thaali for seven just gave boiled rice and a naan with curries of no taste at all we ordered the curries to be a little bit spicy but they gave us raw chillies to eat thats disgusting… Not at all a good experience..

Arrived with my firends by finishing our trip from Isle of wight , We searched in google about the price and reviews nothing was real the prices are not the same from the google we ordered chicken thaali for seven people and the food was not taste at all everything was sweet taste we asked to be a little bit spicy and they gave us raw chillies to eat but the service was good .. Literally bad experience when they gave us raw chillies

Had a wonderful trip from the Isle of Wight we are people of seven and was very hungry so we searched for a good Indian restaurant in google so it suggested this restaurant seeing the prices in the google we felt that it was Good for our budget but when we reached there everything was un real the prices are not the same from the google and as an Indian we would expect some spice in our food and we said so but they gave us raw chillies to add spice in our food we felt that we aren’t humans who would eat raw chillies to eat Highly disappointed we were and the food was not good as expected they gave us just boiled rice as pilau highly not recommended

Personally I prefer night time only one change from my side- Play some Good Indian music and add some South Indian items.

Excellent Indian restaurant in the high street of Southampton. Staff were kind. The ambience was great. The Naan they serve contains egg, so vegetarians should be wary. No additional service charge in the bill.

What a great place! The food was so yummy! I really appreciated all the menu options and was able to try some new foods. The mint sauce condiment was the best! I wish i could bottle it up and take it home! Loss of a star rating because it was hard to make a reservation in advance. They never actually confirmed I had one even a week out. We ended up just walking in anyways. Good thing we did! Got seated right away!

5 o'clock on a week night and the place was empty. There was no hostess to greet & sit. A guy who was disturbed with the interruption asked if we had a reservation! Really! There is only one table of two occupied... he sits us in the back by the kitchen! Hmmm... The next 4 parties to enter also get tables in the back. The entire main part of the restaurant is empty. Not sure what was going on, but I would think that you want the tables to be full as folks from the street peek in ... The waiters are sleek about up charges. They say I'll be right back with the Papadum, that's nice, but it's not complimentary and the waiter does not tell you how much they charge. Same with the water if they bring a bottle you will be charged. If you ask for Naan bread, they will load you with garlic or other flavors because they are the most expensive. The main courses do not bring rice. There is another charge for that. All entrees are individual, small portion, not possible to share. So although the food is tasty, you leave with a bitter taste due to the high prices for what you get.

Absolutely disgusted in the way my family and I were treated tonight. I booked a table ages in advance for me my wife our three girls 8/10 and 11 weeks my mum and my elderly grandparents. I booked it for 5:30 so it wasn't so late we were intruding on more boozy weekend punters and for my birthday might I add. I stood there as they couldn't find my reservation. After me showing it on my phone and pointing out my name on the booking book. He too one look at my daughters and the baby and told me we are eating downstairs in the basement. We followed him down the place was empty. No music. No atmosphere and no people. Just a load of empty tables and buffet treys left out for whatever reason. I asked why we couldn't eat upstairs as there were plenty of empty tables and he replied with "we are fully booked" I stated that I booked months ago and we are part of that fully booking system not just off the street. So why can't we eat upstairs. He once again looked at the children and stumbled on his words. By then I'd had enough. I knew exactly why he was forcing us downstairs as we weren't the people he wanted upstairs with the other costumers. I'm absolutely disgusted in his Manor. I love the food here which is such a shame I got this attitude. My grandparents went back into to say this wasn't right and the said they had a table ready for us in the normal area but it was too late by then. Why wasnt it availableinnthe first place and it took a confrontation to seat us. It was already uncomfortable enough and I felt really let down. Such a shame

I have been coming here for years and think the food is wonderful, so delicious and thta hadn't changed. What really disappointed me was the service. It was efficient as it always is, but it's crossed over from being quick and efficient to being rude. I felt so rushed! As soon as our meal had finished, they asked if we wanted anything else and we said no, we were just finishing our drinks and relaxing after eating. They said ok we will bring the bill, and within a few minutes the bill appeared. We ignored it and carried on chatting and enjoying our drinks, then a few minutes later, another waiter appeared with a card machine! I was so shocked, we hadn't finished our drinks and it was less than two hours so we hadn't overstayed our time or anything. They also weren't massively busy but I can still appreciate they would like the table, but to rush us like that I think is so rude. We said no we were still drinking, and they left, then returned another few minutes later. I think this is such bad service and not what I would expect from a great restaurant. also, there are lots of waiters and they provide a fab service, but I think they need to just slow down - they race around the restaurant like there's a mad rush on! It's quite offputting and not what you want for a relaxed dining experience.

It’s been our favourite Indian restaurant since moving to the area but tonight it was very ordinary. I was so disappointed. Usually you can taste the different levels of spice and each dish was the same as the next. Nothing was very hot. Very upset.

Dropped in for dinner and it was moderately busy so they sat me in the empty basement with a rude-unfriendly-helpful waiter. The food and drinks were delicious.

After reading the awesome reviews we were blown away by how good the entire dining experience was. Wednesday evening it was nearly full (always a good sign) service was first class and the food was amazing!! Even the peshwari naan was a little bit more special than we had ever tasted before. The palak lamb was delicious. Both our dishes were hearty portions and the rice was too, we wished we had shared a rice as there was so much. Our only disappointment was that we live in Lincolnshire and don’t live nearer as we would most definitely return.

An impromptu last minute booking, we found ourselves at this incredible restaurant. The most incredible food and service, melt in your mouth curry, rice and naan! I commented at the time that this is the best Indian food I have ever eaten and I maintain that statement. We can’t wait to return. My only wish would be for a sister restaurant to open a bit closer to my neck of the woods in Winchester. We even left with a bunch of daffodils each after sharing our very happy feedback. Well done guys, we can’t wait to come back 10/10

Excellent food, great portions and service

Absolutely great experience, I generally eat Indian food weekly and come from Dartford where there are a few great Indian restaurants. this experience was incredible, we ordered a ton of sides and starters and requested to have it at the same time as a DIY thali. everything was delicious and arrived hot and fast. very reasonably priced. definitely will return next time I'm at Southampton.

Went in without a reservation on a busy night and they took me in. Could not improve on anything. It was awesome. When I finished I dont think there was an empty table in the place. I am looking forward to returning.

Order a pilav rice and I got a bowl of boiled rice with no flavours or anything in it. As an Indian, when I ordered the food, I had some expectations. But this was the worst pilav I ever had in my life. If you guys don’t know what is pilav, please just google it and don’t cheat the customers.
