Ordered food on Deliveroo . The rider was struggling to find the restaurant for some reason which caused a delay. The team at the restaurant took time at the end of their day, when the restaurant was closed, to wait for the rider to come and collect my food. After speaking with someone at the restaurant, they even offered to come and deliver my food themselves, even after letting them know I’m located on the other side of Southampton. Thank you 🙏

Busy restaurant, downstairs not the best atmosphere but food good. Thali is a good option when they are available Sunday > Thursday.

La calidad y la cantidad de comida era muy buena, al igual que el servicio. No podría fallar en general y con gusto puede volver en nuestra próxima visita.

Muy ocupado y como resultado los niveles de ruido eran un poco incómodos, pero la comida era deliciosa y abundante. La bebida complementaria al final de la comida fue un toque muy agradable.

A busy restaurant in the heart of Southampton. Food is just about acceptable - curry dishes were just about spicy, the dry tandoor dishes were very bland indeed. The mini samosas were of the "frozen supermarket" variety. The poppadum/chutney charges are simply ridiculous! Freezing toilets (like others have mentioned) really need to be addressed.

Best Indian restaurant in Southampton!

Visited for dinner with colleagues on a Wednesday night. The restaurant is in a great location and is clearly popular as it was at capacity once we were seated. Service was very slow, possibly because of how busy it was - we waited an hour before we were able to order our mains and that was after prompting the waiter twice. The food itself was tasty, but be warned, it is a lot spicier than your average Indian restaurant. Between us we had 6 different dishes and everyone commented on the higher than average spice, but this is of course personal preference. Additional comment - whilst clean and tidy, the toilets were freezing - literally! More than one person commented they could see their breath!

Super friendly speedy staff delivering gorgeous dishes. We were all full and happy by the end.

My father and i, went here the other day to have a nice dinner, and we arrived about 8:30 and it says on google they close at 11. when we entered the restaurant it was a nice atmosphere and many people were seated, but when we entered we got told to wait and then they came and told us we had to leave because they were closing, we then left and went somewhere else for dinner. We walked past 2 hours later and they were still open and could see people being served their food. Not happy that we were turned down but especially not happy they couldn’t give a Serious answer as to why we had to leave. 0/10 ruined the evening

Vino para llevar el fin de semana. La actitud abrupta del hombre en la puerta fue decepcionante. Pedí un menú para llevar y me dijeron que me sentara mientras me lo daban. Pedí en el bar y de nuevo me dijeron que me sentara, ya que estaría listo en 10 minutos. Dije que no había prisa y 20 minutos estaba bien, ya que estaba llegando a la tienda. Me soplaron y me soplaron mientras el hombre que me servía llamaba a otro hombre para explicarle la inconveniencia de que no quisiera la comida con prisa. Para colmo, cuando llegamos a casa con la comida había un largo pelo negro en ella que no podría haber venido de mi pareja o yo. Decepcionante visita ya que la comida era en realidad agradable, pero no vale la pena la molestia de volver.

Very good service and little touches, very fair price and good food.

The food is always amazing, what impressed me less in this particular visit was the service, in that when our dishes came round, it would have been nice to know what was what as amongst our party there was a variety of appetite and tolerance for hot (as in spicy) food. Much worse was the atmosphere as there were loud screeching noises from metalwork right inside the restaurant. Not the usual atmosphere at all, all waiting staff seemed less experienced than in our last visit.

A pesar de haber vivido en Southampton toda mi vida y haber escuchado tantas cosas geniales sobre el Coriander Lounge, nunca lo había visitado hasta ahora, y ciertamente no me decepcionó. Cuando llegamos, el restaurante estaba lleno de animadas fiestas de Navidad, creando un ambiente maravilloso. Aunque estaba muy ocupado, solo tuvimos una corta espera de cinco minutos antes de sentarnos, y nuestras bebidas se llevaron rápidamente a la mesa. La comida superó todas las expectativas. Todo llegó rápido, caliente, y fue, sin duda, la comida india más deliciosa que he probado. El personal era tranquilo, amable y muy atento a pesar de lo ocupado que estaba el restaurante. Está claro que Coriander Lounge funciona como una máquina bien engrasada, equilibrando un servicio excepcional con comida excepcional. No puedo esperar a mi próxima visita y lo recomiendo a cualquiera que busque una experiencia gastronómica increíble.

We had our works Christmas party here. The food and service was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend

Booked a table for 8.30pm. The restaurant was full and there were at least 2 large groups dining. We had to wait a while on a table which initially was disappointing but we could see how busy the staff were and they were very pleasant to us. Meals were being trollied out from the kitchen every few minutes, the staff were working so very hard. We had poppadoms to start and then chicken korma, tandoori chicken on the bone with pilau rice and garlic naan. The food was delicious and portions were good, we could hardly finish it all. At the end we were given complimentary Bailies to make up for the wait at the start of the evening which was lovely. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I recommend you reserve a table as Friday evening was very busy. I was amazed at the speed the staff were able to bring out the meals to the large groups, very impressive but also felt for them as they must have been exhausted as they were working so very hard to ensure the meals were served together and promptly. Very impressed. Upon leaving they gave me a beautiful bunch of flowers, no idea why, but it was such a lovely gift. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely evening.

Probably the best curry I've had in a long while, as few restaurants now do a Thali. The Coriander lounge still does though and it tasted as good as I remember 😊

The warm welcome at the door sets the standard of what to expect inside. Excellent food, matched with great service. Easy to see why this restaurant was packed on a Friday night.

This was our first time eating here, though my son has been here a fair few times and recommended it highly. We were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful, making sure at every stage that all was well with our table. The food was excellent, well spiced and very tasty. Also served hot to the table. A nice gap was left between the starters and mains so we did not feel rushed and allowed the fairly substantial starters to settle. As usual (for us), we were unable to finish all the food and so takeaway containers were brought so that we could take what we wanted home. All in all, we highly recommend this restaurant.

Food is very tasty, place is also very clean very friendly staff and owner always coming say hello it's very respectful. I always feel welcome.

Been here 2 times in the last 2 weeks as working in the area. Both visits I was made to feel welcomed. The service and food are both 5*. I will definitely be returning here when I'm in the area again.

This was our third visit to 'Coriander Lounge', and as with our prior visits, this time certainly didn't disappoint either. The poppodoms were crispy with very nice relishes. We ordered the lamb chops as a starter that were tender, and the spices were delicious. For the mains, we had chicken and lamb shashlik and a prawn puri, accompanied by brinjal bhaji (aubergine), tarka dahl and garlic nans. The first time we ate here, I asked if they could make a duck shashlik, which they were more than happy to do. Unfortunately, this time, the waiter replied with a prompt 'no', which I found a little disappointing. That being said, all of the mains were cooked to perfection. The aubergene side dish was just right with no bitterness, while the consistency of the lentils were just how I like them to be, along with a superb sauce. If you are ever in Southampton and looking for a really top curry, then Coriander Lounge is definitely the place to visit.

I've ordered malaise kofta..They literally delivered potatoes in the gravy full if veggies. There is no kofta but a whole uncut potatoes in the dish..Do they don't know the meaning of malaise kofta.??? It was disgusting.

This is one of the best Curry houses I've been to. Excellent food and good beer. Well worth a visit if you are in Southampton.

Among best Indian places in city

Have been here a few times but this visit wasn't as great as previously. We were a group of 6 celebrating a birthday. We felt rushed placing our or ders and staff not as friendly as usual. Food was ok except one meal had to be rejected as the meat was tough and inedible. The ladies toilet facilities need cleaning attention.

Love this place! Have visited a few times for various occasions over the years and every time has been fantastic! Staff always welcoming, food always incredible and always a warm busy atmosphere. One of the best Indian restaurants in Southampton - and there are some good ones to compete with!!

We book the Coriander Lounge whenever we are in Southampton. It was full on a Wednesday evening. All the dishes were excellent as always.

Was ok.. take away was a better experience. Waiters were unbelievably noisy banging plates together.. made to feel rushed. Took the magic of any half decent review away.

My wife and I attended the restaurant on Saturday and again it didn't disappoint. I would highly recommend the Chicken Lal Mirch. Good portion sizes and great customer service from the staff. A must do in Southampton.

The food was decent, but the service left much to be desired. The waiters seemed perpetually busy, making it hard to get their attention. The Chablis I ordered, priced at £33, was incredibly bland and disappointing. It felt like a rip-off.

Dinner for two on a Thursday, popped in for a quick main course. No poppadom's, one main course each with rice, £37. The coconut cake is amazing! Super delicious! Came here with friends. My friends think the garlic naan is also delicious. The dishes are basically all kinds of paste. I have ordered shrimp, chicken, beef and mutton. They are all good and the portions are generous!

Modern Indian with an excellent choice of traditional and special dishes. One of the best Indian dishes I ever tasted and I have been to top Indian restaurants in London . Very reasonable prices. Great service and great experience all in all . Highly recommended

We visited on 8th sept 2024 for my daughter 16th birthday celebrations with a family meal ..we literally had the whole downstairs to ourselves ..the food as always is beautiful the service is outstanding always and overall really lovely experience and always our go to indian restaurant

What an amazing culinary experience! The waiter asked us what we would like. And we said "enlighten us....We want to enjoy this cuisine to the fullest " He suggested Lamb, chicken, beef and prawn dishes that were filled with delicious flavors and tingled the tongue. For dessert, I had the most delicious lemon gelato I have ever experienced! A must have😋 Friendly, patient service. Delicious, tasty food. And an evening to remember. We always book an extra night in Southampton (pre cruise) just to eat in this restaurant. We have been coming here for 10 years and as ever it did not disappoint. We visited on a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was busy, which speaks for itself. The food is consistently good and the menu is varied. I had the Thali which was great and allowed me to try a number of dishes. The staff work so hard and have always been friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful evening and will be back again as soon as we can.

Delicious food! Really enjoyed the Kashmiri Lamb and the Coriander Chicken. Would’ve enjoyed a little more spice but great flavours and textures. The shining star of Coriander Lounge are the lovely staff and attending service. Thank you for a great night.

Best curry house in Southampton!!!

We had one night in Southampton before a cruise so had a few pints in Spoons(the Standing Order) and found the Coriander Lounge near by and was really impressed with the food and the service would certainly be going back.

We had a lovely table by the window looking out on the historic holyrood church. Service was great, the food was wonderful. The bill was shockingly small! I'll be back.

Wow! Totally unexpected! Not only was the restaurant elegantly appointed, the wait staff was AMAZING. We came on a friend’s recommendation and it was by far the best meal we have had in Southampton during our short stay. Don’t miss it! 🤩🤩🤩

The food was really good! Was served by a young guy with curly hair and he was great! Mentioned the butter chicken is sweet, and trust me not to listen haha as it defo was sweet lol but still tasted really nicee! Enjoyed my meal. Even had hand sanitiser on every table. Will defo go back next time im in Southampton. Oh and it’s halal!

My wife and I had a lovely meal. The flavours were good and had a lot of depth to them not just smothered in chilli. Service was good and friendly coping equally well with groups and couples. Table cloths and linen napkins with prices very reasonable particularly considering portion sizes were generous. Felt welcome and cared for.

This is most definitely not a place to go with young kids but I can see how it would appeal to couples or groups minus kids. Food was okayish but the service was amazing from the younger staff. They’re definitely an asset to the restaurant.

This hidden gem that is located near the port in Southampton is an amazing find. The entire friendly staff provides fantastic service and the food quality is excellent. Highly recommend if you’re in town!

The food is tasty but it's a UK version of Indian food. Gravies/curries or biryani most of the stuff are bit sweet or not spicy. The person who has taken our specially asked to choose Indian Spicy or not but, food doesn't have a difference. The ambience is very nice and the restaurant is also well maintained.

I was working away with 4 of my friends and we decided to go for a curry, what a good move. The 5 of us all love a curry and at the end of the meal we all said that was one of the best curries we had ever had. I can’t remember what I ordered now but between the 5 of us we all had a bit of each others order and there was a lot of food envy going on!

Oh gosh their food is divine, so tasty and top quality. My favourite is the lamb passanda with garlic rice. Try it, and you'll never want to go to any other Indian restaurant.

Fabulous food as usual. Naan the best ever. Only slight criticism dishes were very hot. Immediately replaced one dish which was beyond the limit. No hesitation. Service was brilliant and replacement meal was great.

Last week we went to the restaurant to have dinner , We didn’t have dinner there as restaurant was full. But would like to mention this there was a gentleman may be a food and beverage staff was not welcoming at all and was very rude, being in a customer facing staff he definitely needs to learn how to respect customers on the entrance.

Staffs very cold or in bad mood. In theory they did their job but they was definitely not happy to see a big family. To entree until leave they didn't make any smile to us. We was already on under floor and at leaving the atmosphere on top floor (the Entree) was different, they was "normal, smiling" with other customers. Happy to not leave any tips. First and last time but thanks for the food.

We came here last night for dinner and I asked for an order off the menu (paneer korma) and the chefs were able to do this for me which was really appreciated ☺️ our food was lovely and pricing was great! Only comment we would make is that we were placed on a table right in the corner nearest the toilets which wasn’t great when there was other tables of 2 we could have been sat at but didn’t want to make a fuss! Will definitely be coming back if we are ever in the area again! P.S please add a little pot of mint sauce along with the onion bhajis 🙏🏻

I've been to a lot of curry houses in different cities since it's my favourite cuisine and Coriander Lounge in Southampton is still my absolute favourite. Me and my family have been here at least 5 times already. Amazing food that's always worth the money and really warm atmosphere

We were two times here and everything was excellent. The food is authentic with homemade spices, thick gravy. We had lamb biriany, excellent, lamb chettinad and chicken Dhansak ( a bit spicy but really good).

We enjoyed a lovely meal last night. The portions were plentiful and so beautifully presented, the choice on the menu was vast. This restaurant is designed with a modern style and the lighting was just right. We will definitely be going again and would recommend a meal there.

Ambience was okay , though it was indian cuisine but it didnt felt authentic . Would never recommended anyone to visit here if they are looking for authentic indian food.
