Purchased takeaway ice creams and coffees. Took ages to complete the order and expesive as well. Coffees were in small csrdbosrd cups. Never seen a coffee cup so small. Half the size of one you get everywhere else.

Had never been here before but, after a long walk up the coast, I went in with the hope of finding a toilet (I did) and stayed for lunch. I had a delicious ham salad which was piled high on the plate and to my great satisfaction, it had lots of pea shoots in it (as well as a myriad of other things). There was a lot of ham and it was the proper stuff, none of that rubbery muck. It was served with the softest buttered brown bread and coleslaw. The term 'salad' seems too simplistic for the plate of summery loveliness I was served, I can't wait to go back for another. For dessert I had the pear and almond tart (nice) with decaff coffee which tasted good and strong. All in all a very pleasant lunch.

Having visited this delightful cafe a few years ago, my Mum has been dreaming of a return visit to this little gem, for one of their fabulous Prawn sandwiches. Happy to say this week, she did just that, along with the rest of her family. Some of us had crab, others stuck with the prawns, both equally delightful. Not cheap, but worth every penny, and the views are Devine ❤️❤️

We have visited many time over the years. This time just didn’t seem the same. We always have Drinks and cakes but it just wasn’t as good as usual. I am aware costs have gone up but it seemed extortionate for what we had and felt the quality was not the same as before. It is a fab location and will give another try as we walk to Sands End regularly, but hope next time it is better

This cafe has a stunning view overlooking the sea. We went for breakfast. I had scrambled eggs & smoked salmon on toast which was superb. My partner had the full breakfast which he enjoyed APART from the sausages which he thought were cheap and tasted awful. I'm interested to note other such comments on recent reviews. The staff were friendly but I again have noted a recent review commenting on a younger member of staff's attitude, which I can relate to. We had been sat in the open area waiting for our food when it started to rain and we began to move to another table nearby under cover. At this point a young lady came out with our breakfasts. Her manner wasn't particularly friendly and she clearly wasn't happy, commenting 'but your breakfast are here!'

We had a full English breakfast here and I have to say it was the worst breakfast we’ve ever had. The sausages were disgusting, obviously very poor quality, tasteless beans, the black pudding was vile and the filter coffee was bitter. Having read other reviews it seems we’re not the only ones to have experienced this. Hopefully the owners will take this into consideration. I’d rather pay a bit extra for good quality food. A waste of money.

Best breakfast of our little holiday. Enjoyed 2 veggie full Englishes outside overlooking the sea, in the sunshine! Ingredients of breakfast seemed quality and it was well cooked, good portion, we left feeling full but not stuffed. One thing to mention- Veggie full English wasn't even on their menu, it was only from other reviews that I know they did one or we wouldn't have gone here. Would definitely recommend!

Good cafe overlooking the beach and with lovely food. I ordered the fish platter and was very nice for the money, lots of crab prawns and smoked salmon. Friendly staff who let me charge my Electric bike thank you! Reasonably priced white wine also. Perhaps could do with a lick of paint on the furniture and not keen on them serving everything on the brown trays that they have.

Not sure why such negative reviews as we popped in for quick snacks mid Sat afternoon and enjoyed a glass of Merlot with some sublime Carrot cake as well as a coffee whilst sat by the windows looking out towards the sea watching the world go by very enjoyable. As we enjoyed it we went back on the Sun morn for breakfast butties which were very tasty and also catered for dietary requirements. I need to point out on both visits staff were polite and service quick. Prices were very fair too. Both days there was a constant stream of customers so it can't be that bad can it, Will be back for sure.

This has always been our go-to cafe when in the area. A great spot with breathtaking views and quality offerings (the crab sandwich and the yummy cakes being firm favourites). Yes, it is a different experience at present with a much reduced menu and lack of quality cutlery and crockery. Yes, you need to use the public toilets, so the one in the cafe can be kept clean and safe for staff. And yes, you have to place your order yourself, at the outside hatch but from what I’ve seen this week, they are doing a sterling job under such difficult circumstances. They need your support and co-operation not your criticism. Well done guys, keep up the good work!

Oh dear, I had been here a few times pre-Covid and it was great. Now, even taking into consideration the mandatory sanitising and social distancing etc, it’s extremely poor. You come into the outside seating area, are greeted and seated. Then, even though there is a greeter and waiting staff, you have to note your table number, put your mask on, get up, go out of the cafe to a window on the roadside, order food, collect drinks in takeaway cups, go back into the cafe, sit down, remove mask and a few minutes later your food is thrown at you in polystyrene containers. At breakfast, if you are vegetarian you may as well forget it. No toast, no tea cakes, no croissants or pastries - the veggie with me was offered a scone! A toasted cheese and pickle sandwich was ordered (I know, not breakfast but hunger dictates) which, when it arrived, wasn’t fit for a dog (see photo) and it was left untouched on the table. Needs a re-think, can do much better.

Well planned queuing and seating systems (outdoor and under cover) and efficient cleaning after each customer, so customers are protected as much as possible. We were informed each time the toilets were closed and were directed accordingly. The menu was straightforward with breakfast sandwiches and toasties available, along with the delicious crab sandwiches. We'd highly recommend the crab sandwiches as there's plenty of crab meat and the bread is great quality, presented well with side salad in a card box. MORE AT TripAdvisor

We visit this cafe every year on our seaside holiday to Whitby, walking from there to Sandsend and back. This time, myself, partner and dog queued to get in. We were directed to a table outside because we had a dog. The young waitress doing the signing in said in these exact words "If you want to use the toilet that's absolutely fine, but please ask a member of staff first as we will check that there is no-one else in there". Absolutely fine, we thought. As we were finishing our lunch, I asked a passing waitress (different to the one from earlier) if I could use the toilet please, but she said the toilets were not open today. I had noticed a sign up saying this too, but as the lady who let us in mentioned that they were okay to use, I was rather confused, so explained this. The waitress then went off to check and came back out with the manageress who said "is there a problem?" (I was a bit taken aback by this approach as I never asked for the manager and didn't have a 'problem' really, I just needed the toilet.) I then explained myself for the third time, as a paying customer, about what I was told on the way in about the toilet situation. The manageress said the toilets were only for customers sat inside due to Covid. What an absolutely ridiculous rule! There was no way we could have sat inside with the dog and this was NOT mentioned on our way in by the young waitress doing the signing in. This cafe obviously just want to get you in and get your money, but won't allow more than half of their customers to use the facilities. How can this place segregate those sat outside from those inside? There were elderly people, other dog walkers and children sat outside who I felt sorry for, should they ask to use them. We also noticed, that whilst queueing to get a table, we noticed a father approach the young waitress doing the signing in with his two teenage children. This was before we had gone in so we weren't paying close attention. However, after a couple ofminutes, his teenage daughter then walked inside as he said 'thank you so much' to the waitress. It was clear she had gone in to use the toilets, as she returned within 5 minutes. Obviously, when this point was argued, the manageress denied this, even though we saw it and so did the couple behind us. It seems to be one rule for some and one rule for another here. So, it had gone from the first waitress saying the toilets were open, to the 2nd waitress who said they weren't open, to the manageress who said they were open but to customers sitting inside only! After 7 years of visiting this cafe on our seaside holidays, we will NOT be returning, even when things go back to normal. Extremely poor customer service and a completely ludicrous rule for those having to eat outside. Only giving 1 star as I can't give 0!

Been here before and that's why we chose to eat here but this time we were disappointed, the food is fine but the queuing system was unorganised and quite frankly bonkers! So there was one queue for both takeaway and eat in there was nothing to say otherwise, once we got to the hatch we were told to then go to the cafe entrance where we were met by a member of staff who told us to find a table,if available, then once seated a member of your family then had to go back outside and join the takeaway queue again to place an order, to be fair the waiting on staff so how annoyed we were so took our order at the table but afterwards we decided to all have a cake so that meant having to go back outside and join the takeaway queue then go back inside!! Just didn't make sense, luckily the queue wasnt too long at this point ! What should have been a relaxing eating experience turned out to be a stressful one.

We called in here last week following our visit to Runswick Bay and we had the most delicious tuna sandwich ever, so fresh and tasty! It also came with salad and crisps in a box it was so nice to chill out and relax at this wonderful cafe. The staff were so nice and friendly too. Definitely worth a visit!

Who could ask for more? ! Also lovely ice cream - tried the jaffa cake one this week, delicious! Have been coming here for years and whilst it isn't cheap, the quality is excellent.

We visited Sands end on the beach,. Then called in to this amazing cafe!! Right on the beach, overlooking the sea. Ordered our drinks from the counter, sat down, our food was brought to our table, perfect!! This cafe has it all, it is just the best. Anyone who thinks differently, let's see you open your own cafe, then I will call in and give you a review!!!! This cafe is extremely good! I tell everyone.

Date of visit: 5th July 2020Having visited this cafe many times over the years this was unfortunately our most disappointing visit. The main issue was that this is no longer a cafe but is now a take away so there are no toilet facilities available or indoor seating and it is a basic take away menu not the previous menu we had enjoyed. I was also concerned at the level of hygiene practiced during our visit. To start off there was a 10 minute queue to get a table and before you can enter Track & Trace information is collected - Name, Phone Number, Party size, One household or multiple - then you are allocated a table. Luckily the lady on the door instructed the cleaner to wipe our table after the previous guests have left otherwise he might not have cleaned it! The same lady was also being blown away by her visor by the gusty winds we had and it kept blowing into her face! Poor thing. After that there was a 10 minute queue to order food and drinks at the take away hatch - opened to the public, not just seating customers - where you pay for your order, give a table number and collect your drinks. The prices on the - much reduced menu - were still restaurant prices though, not take away prices! 10 minutes later, food was delivered to our table with no napkins, no plates, no condiments and no cutlery. We were basically delivered a take away to our table. Before eating we wanted to wash our hands - now more than ever - and it was disappointing that the hand washing facilities had been reduced. After spending a morning on the beach with a dog, some running water and some soap would have been welcome and, I think, is a basic expectation in most UK holiday destinations in 2020 (we’re not in 1920!). There was hand sanitiser available at the entrance to the table area which is great for bacteria but not for washing. This was concerning and made me question the level of hygiene which the staff themselves practice if they don’t expect visitors to wash their hands! My final thoughts are that we won’t be visiting again until the hygiene situation improves. Furthermore, a couple in our party were of the age where visiting the toilet can be a frequent need so this venue is no longer suitable, unfortunately. There was a helpful sign at the door saying nearest toilets 200m away though - the public toilets. Next time we will probably visit the beach at Sandsend then return to Whitby to go to a cafe there. Lastly, if this business we to succeed (for customers and economically) as only a take-away then surely it would have done so before, why they are taking a gamble now seems risky to me but I’m sure there must be a good reason behind it. I wish them all the best and hope they make it through to the other side as we have enjoyed many visits here the past few decades.

Fantastic cafe both inside and great to eat outdoors when the weathers fine. We sat outside March 2020 and it was beautiful. Great food, cakes, wine, coffee and ice cream. A lovely place to pass away an hour while viewing the beach.

Probably the eatery with the best views in Sandsend. We only stopped in for a çuppa on a sunny but windy day.The log cabin effect chalet disguise hides a really cosy place with friendly and accommodating staff serving good honest and freshly prepared food. Some of the cakes looked amazing. It also hides some amazing views of the beach.Really stands out from the local competition.

Charging extra for hot milk with a coffee? This must be the only "cafe" in the English speaking world that has a license to print money! Never, ever again.

A quick stop on our walk for a coffee and escape from the cold winds of storm Dennis didn’t disappoint. Toasted tea cake, for me but bread and butter pudding with custard for my friend!! The coffees were first rate and the glass panelled outdoor seating keeping out the cold wind a welcome boon. Don’t walk on past, stop and enjoy!

Always busy. Wide variety of food and drinks. Cakes, sandwiches and more substantial snacks. Crab sandwiches if you’re lucky. Indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect for dog owners as some of the outdoor seating is sheltered and under cover. Right on the beach.

What a find! This has been the loveliest meal we have had this year. The food is beautiful, my husband had haddock and loved it. I had rib of beef and it was just delightful some of the best food I have had. The landlord was super lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were lovely and attentive but not over bearing. The menu gives lots of choice and there is a brilliant gin menu. They are dog friendly too so we all had a wonderful time- thank you. We have booked up for Sunday lunch when we are next on holiday over here. I couldn’t recommend this place enough
