Excellent food all the time from here at a very good price.

I asked specifically are the chips fresh and was told yes. I asked as I bought from here 2 times before and the chips were nice once and the other times the chips have been obviously re cooked over they are hard I have health conditions and have to be careful lying is not okay when it comes to food as it could really effect Someones health please do not lie to customers

In my order only 1 out of 7 items delivered were actually what I ordered. The substitutes they send out were awful. Then to top it off the pie was rock solid and stale on top whilst mushy and decomposing on the underside. Won't be eating any of this food, if they are willing to send out food of this quality I'm not convinced that cleanliness is a top priority at this chip shop.

Order garlic pizza bread twice, delivered both times with cheese. There's a separate cheese option that I didn't select because I can't eat cheese. That's money gone

Avoid at all costs. Ordered a takeaway Sunday night. Email confirmation says delivery for 20:08. 20:30 comes and goes and so I ring to chase, am told driver has already left and is 2 mins away (we live approx 5min drive from the place). Ring again at 20:45, to be told the same. I challenged the man on the phone that we'd already been told this and were still waiting. He was very rude and hung up on me mid-sentence. Delivery arrives 20:55, missing the drink I had ordered. Ring back, same man rude and offers to send another driver with the drink. I say I'd rather have a refund, he apologises, agrees and offers to also refund deliver... result! Or so I think. Same driver comes back to deliver refund in cash in person, only refunds the drink. We explain to him we were getting refund for delivery too, he has conversation on the phone, and tells us to ring back. Told he never offered to refund delivery. Whole thing a silly nightmare, avoid unless you enjoy being treated like an idiot.

Order food here through Uber eats. Driver delivered wrong food. Called restaurant response was ‘not my problem love’ out of food and out of pocket. Disgusting service

No stars at all. Clark’s pies are beyond dry & only fit for the bin. How do they manage to ruin such lovely pies….they keep them heated for hours & they’re days old.

Have to amend my review. Came tonight and ordered fish, cheesy chips and gravy. Chips were rock hard and the gravy was literally bisto gravy. Cheese was pale and tasteless. Fish wasn’t great either.

Stayed in Bristol overnight and as hotel Kitchen was closed decided to order a takeaway. Unfortunately I chose Samroys Fish Bar. I didn't want anything fancy just a burger, chips and drink...I added an additional drink and onion rings to take my total order over the minimum spend amount. 1. Delivery driver calls me from outside hotel for me to come and get my food. I had instructed hotel reception that I had a delivery arranged and for them to inform me when it had been delivered. Delivery means delivery!! Ie it should have been delivered correctly!! 2. The burger which was lazily stuffed into a takeaway box and wrapped has to be one of the worst things I have been expected to eat. 3. Chips cold. 4. The onion rings were the only totally edible item hence a score of 1 otherwise it would of been a 0!! Overall - Shocking!! And a complete waste of my money especially as there were so many other takeaways that I could of chosen. I wouldn't want anyone that doesn't know the area to make the same mistake!!

Ordered from uber eats took well over an hour to get to me then realised one of the kebabs were covered in mayo.i rung up to basically be called a liar.i invited them to my home to see it.i can't eat mayo so asked for replacement and this one to be collected.he wasn't happy but agreed but here i am 55 mins later and no sign.i would say STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE years ago lovely now food is cold,greasy and ages to come.now after 10pm at night so even IF they did bother turning up iv'e gone past it now.after over an hour and ahalf of waiting i rung the shop to be told no drivers so wont be sending it out after all so basically got lied to.NEVER EVER AGAIN AFTER YEARS OF ORDERING WILL I EVER ORDER AGAIN.i even asked if they had been taken over and has he seen the reviews to have the phone put down on me.shocking customer service.

Terrible food. The chips were overcooked and mostly inedible the sausage was dry, the chicken was very salty. The curry sauce wasn't bad but with no chips to eat it with not much point. The best thing was the milkshake but I still would go back just for that.

Very speedy online service and excellent fish and chips

Normally I go this establishment for good service and the food is pretty dam good staff well friendly quick and efficient but on this occasion loads of food on display and couldn’t even provide a single portion of chips was frustrating and poor

The worst fish and chips I’ve had in Bristol. Fish was very dry and batter was soft. The pie was rock hard, and the pie lid had come off and the contents had formed its own gooey crust. The battered mars bar had what I assume was raw flour or semolina around it which I’ve added a picture of. Awful all around, I will never order from here again!

I have ordered fish and chips many times from this takeaway and they have been good value for money and hot, tonight it wasn't so great ,small portion for the money,and only warm, will probably give them another chance but if the next order is the same then we will go elsewhere.

Food always lovely. Only problem ever had with them is they put mushrooms on all pizzas whether they should have them or not! Partner hates mushrooms so have to pick them out. They don't take notice of comments when no mushrooms clearly stated. Other than that, all good. If you need to vary an item or make a change due to an allergy, don't even attempt it. Have visited ahop once (mainly do delivery). When visiting the shop there was a guy sat by pizza boxing area who was finishing food. He then picked his teeth, then used a cocktail stick or something and spat the bits on the floor! Not a great look.

Rude customer service asking is is it halal not properly explaining

I have ordered 3 times now and not had a problem,I’m In Cadbury heath but still the food arrives hot and on time or early :) I’ve had different food selection each and all been lovely and the milkshakes are delicious too.

Just Ordered myself a mixed kebab and chips, battered sausage and chicken wings. It’s a Sunday afternoon and I’m absolutely hanging gammon with a hangover. After receiving my order I couldn’t wait to get back in bed with my pile of meat, but to my absolute devastation I had received a really really cold, sad doner kebab with really weird tasting chips, I did wonder if the meat was from last year or something. The sausage was very oily but also very dry at the same time. Not sure how that works! Anyway I did eat some of it because the hangover really needed it. I now look forward to the gut rot that will be coming for me. I do take some responsibility, had I not got drunk I wouldn’t be laying in bed with the saddest hangover food ever and regrets.

Great place. Really good fish and chips and the kebabs are great too (really nice marinade on the chicken)! Been using them for years. Can't fault them.

I ordered from Samroys - the food never arrived when I called to ask where it was they said it had been delivered to my house mate who I don’t have with no photographic proof - when I said I had a ring door bell to prove no one had been they were very rude on the phone and claimed I was lying. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE ITS A SCAM.

Had chicken donor meat and chips it was so dry even with garlic mayo the chips were hard and the chicken was hard and dry like it had been there for hours the whole meal was inedible left completely disappointed

Don’t go to if they are fasting , doors open but no service, was told we are not one of them !!!! Wtf does that mean I am a British customer looking for a takeaway in Britain !! And I’m not one of them . I have used samroys since 1985 NEVER AGAIN I will never be accused of not being not one of them. If they want to keep they’re doors open PROVIDE THE SERVICE , out of order samroys you’re here to serve GB not refuse our custom .

Ordered on Uber eats they told Uber ears I’d phoned up and cancelled when I had not so I was still charged for the order, when I rang the restaurant the man on the phone was rude and so unhelpful! Avoid this place if you don’t want to get ripped off

Was my favourite, but not anymore, I think they overcharge, honest mistake or deliberate (?), felt a bit weird. Buyers beware.. Update! Keep going there as I like the food, manager is great when in, he goes the extra mile. Good food. No problems until.. Change from very last visit was only given when I asked for it. Same guy that overcharged me. He gave me an extra portion to apologise, but he knew I knew. lol. Must be sport for him. Upping star rating, not the owners fault.

Huge portions, great prices and lovely food.

Awful food. Large mixed kebab contained 6 small prices of chicken and a small portion of doner meat. Thought I would give them a second chance but the food was really bad again and really small portions. Go somewhere else for food. Anywhere but here.

Excellent chips. Good price and plenty. Kebabs good too as is fish. Highly recommended. Staff v friendly and accommodating.

Great food always hot and fresh they don't rip you off and the guys are great. We have been going there for at least 4 years now and will continue for many more. Keep it up guys.

Terrible food and service. Delivered wrong order 2 days ago, no salad and tiny kebab, promised me a free kebab, but when I came to order it today he was rude, denied he would stand by his word and hung up. Cancelling my calls now.

1st order was sent wrong i rang the shop and they aparently didnt even have a record of the order they had just delivered. 2nd order missing items. Customer service dreadful.i was told the missing item wasnt sent because it had been delivered the first time even though i had paid and ordered it again so the whole family could eat a hot meal together.the man on the phone was rude. wait time exceeded.

Food was incorrect and the batter was soggy and disgusting. Phone was hung up before it was answered. If you want fish and chips you'll be hard pressed to find worse. I read reviews alot and always wonder if I should believe what's written, well, go here at your own risk, you've been warned. One star is probably 2 stars more than they deserve.

Friendly stuff But when it comes to the food it’s just amazing

Can't fault Samroys. Its good value for money and is what you expect from a greasy takeaway. Plenty of cheese on pizzas and never tight with chicken shish.

Great kebabs, they also sell proper British style chips most kebab shops only sell french fries.

Appalling. Terrible food, nonsense menu and pathetic portions. Staff are useless, disinterested and rude. Frankly why you would give this place even a penny of your money is beyond me

I live a good take away me, so much so that actually I like most bad ones too. I let a lot slide when it comes to them - delivery and a bit cold? Yeah no worries. Two things I can’t stand though are rudeness and being ripped off. I work hard for my money and a two bit, grotty little establishment like Samroys take my money in exchange for rudeness and a pile of garbage I take real offence. I ordered via Uber eats. Couple of kebabs and an extra large portion of chips. What I got were a pair of the saddest looking kebabs you ever did see and what appears to be a child portion of chips. See the picture. What I got there cost me nearly £23. Phoned them and had a word with them. What a useless waste of space the guy - not interested either in sorting the issue. I’m not going to rant here, but to be clear in my summary, don’t give your hard earned to places like this, there are too many decent restaurants out there that need your business so don’t waste your time with jokers like this. I promise you you’ll be disappointed.

The best takeaway I’ve ever ordered. Peanut milkshake actually tasted like peanut. Kebab with the salad boxed separately? Smart move. Fluffy chips. Made my day.

Ordered 2 lamb kebas with salad and 2 pots of garlic mayo via Uber Eats. Kebabs turned up with no salad and covered in garlic mayo. My husband phoned up to say we had only received 2 lots of meat covered in mayo and minus the salad. They said they would let us have the rest of it next time. When my husband said no we want it delivered now they said they couldn't do that. My husband said they needed to rectify the order to which he was told he would have to drive to them and then they put the phone down. He subsequently phoned back and asked to speak the manager and once again had the phone put down on him. He tried phoning back and they blocked his number. We paid £18.70 for basically 2 trays of meat. Disgusting customer service and would never use them again. Have also told other people not to use them either.

0 HYGIENE RATING. Stay away. Back in the day when Roy was running it Samroys was the place to go. Now it’s vile and disgusting backed up by the low hygiene ratings over the years.

Ordered from here via Deliveroo. When the order came we realised that it was wrong and there was pie and chips missing, they sent COMPLETELY different to what we ordered. We phoned and they said they’d send a pie and chips for us which we were happy with…. However they didn’t even send it…. And when my husband rang to find out where it was we were being told that it was delivered etc when it most definitely wasn’t!!! WILL NOT EVER BE ORDERING FROM HERE AGAIN. The worst customer service I have ever come across.

Scruff place run by to Turkish guys food was shocking n the cheese smelt off and we lobbed in bin at shop n guys was laughing like they done somet to food

I placed a small order Sunday evening which was over 30 minutes late, swimming in grease and lukewarm. Defiantly won’t be returning anytime soon. Shocking service!

Missed half the order. Rang up and they said we lived too far away for them to bring our food. Food that did turn up was dreadful, overcooked and bland.

I ordered a chicken pie and small chips and I was not disappointed. Can't wait to go there and try a pizza. Definitely a 5 star from me,good work fellas.

Just ordered for when they just open. The worst chips I've ever seen, think they are last nights they must be, they are hard, blackish in colour and ruined the meal, not that anything else was anything to write home about. Terrible, with a late delivery. Never again.

Appalling experience. Food was very late, so called the restaurant. LIED to, told the food had been delivered. Then told it MIGHT be stuck in traffic (so which one is it?!). Then snapped at and told we would never be delivered to again as we are "too far" away (2 miles in a straight line, hardly back-breaking, and why accept the order in the first place if it's too far?!). Further delays, so called the restaurant again. Exceptionally rude person, who again lied and said food had been delivered, then told me he'd call the driver before hanging up on me. Food arrived a further 15 minutes later, cold and soggy. The driver had driven in through the gates to our complex behind another car, and then consequently couldn't get back out again (as a fob is needed). Called me back again, demanding to be let out. Do NOT order from this place. Shoddy, unprofessional, and almost laughable treatment (had we not paid over 20£). They used to be excellent, so not sure whether new (and very inexperienced/unfit) management. Couldn't give 0 stars unfortunately.

Where do I even begin! Ordered over £20's worth of food to have it delivered and find that £15's worth of food was missing! Phoned up to request that the remainder of the food to be delivered, had to then call back twice to follow up as no one called back after they said they would following speaking to the manager. On the 3rd phone call I was handed to the OWNER! Who quite rudely accused ME OF LYING and that my order had been delivered! Claiming he packed the order himself that it was all there, well to say I was beyond dismayed, I asked if he would be speaking with the delivery driver to which he point blank said he wouldn't be as he had packed the order himself so knows the food was delivered! The customer service was AWFUL! ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS! Will never be ordering from here again and would recommend no one else does also!

At one time I used this shop quite regularly, as their food was usually quite good. Recently though; what with the very poor hygiene rating, the food has become significantly worse, and unfortunately I am unable to give zero star's as a rating. Please stay away from this take-away.

Never again! Food for delivery which was pretty quick, good reason for that. Our sausages where raw. I think someone just took them out of packet and wrapped them up in paper. We did call to complain straightaway but the guys reply was next time, what the hell does that mean? . You didn't deliver a replacement or offer a refund you just hung up on us.

The food is mediocre and the prices have skyrocketted since they became under new management. This chip shop used to be a delight I used to work here over the years it has gone down hill and I am truly disappointed. If avoidable please do.

I ordered 2 Saveloys as well as other food , when it came the Saveloys looked uncooked so i called to be greeted with the worst customer experience ever . Told tolhat they have now changed colour and to just put in microwave to warm up a little more . Sorry but the whole point of a take away is so i didnt have to cook , i was then told i was rude and wasnt god . Never again will i use this place

Food took 1 hour 20 to show up. 3 kebabs and 2 chips. Arrives with no chips. Called back and told to just ask for a ‘free’ portion next time !! Then realised all kebabs covered in chilli when only 2 asked for it. Rang back said we need a new order - after lots of push back they agreed. 40 minutes. It’s now another 1 hour 20 on and still not here, they advise should be leaving soon!!? Terrible service will not use again. Shame as old owners were great!

Big portions, average prices (not as good value for money as places on, for example, Stapleton Rd, but not overpriced either), good food. Free sauces & salad with meals. Wide variety of food (pizza, burgers, kebabs, sausage, pies, fish & chips and more). Basically what you'd expect from a fish n chips/kebab shop. Not outstanding but good. Plus, it's the last place open in the area for a hot meal. Came in just before closing today and got given MASSIVE portion of mixed kebab for the price of a medium.

The worst fish and chips I've ever had, chips and fish both pale as death. No flavour to anything except old oil. This has genuinely put me off fish & chips for a good long time. I had to add vinegar when it arrived as I could detect none. Up ya game boys.

Favorite place. Cheaper than domino's, etc but with chunky pizzas that always arrive early.

Just a disgrace of a place place an order never turned up and just stole my money took over 12 hours talking to someone on food hub just to get a refund lucky I never got food with a one star rating place is a disgrace shut ut down befor someone dies just reading through comments looks like they do this alot and must steal about 100 pound a day they are criminals and deserve to be locked up and food hub as well for letting this happen

Absolutely disgusting and was cold when delivered. Driver went to the wrong address then rang me and was being quite rude on the phone to me, when he arrived also rude. Chips old and mostly bottom of the barrel chips, cod undercooked and £5 for the garlic bread alone what a disaster that was i wont even go into it. The food and the delivery driver were as shocking as each other. Will never order here again.

Sometimes hit and miss with the chips and delivery can take a while on weekends. Overall though pretty satisfied with the food and service received. Plus the portion size with the chips is brilliant.

Placed order at 7.30 and told would be 50 minutes. Had call at 8 to say they didnt have 2 items so ordered something else. After chasing finally turned just after 9pm and we had to walk to car park to collect as wouldn't deliver to door. Then 2 of the main meals were missing. Kept ringing but no answer. Ended up.having chip butty.. Delivery driver unexpectantly came back with meals half an hour later by which time was too late.

This is really sad to have to write, Living locally. No social distancing evident.zero customer service. Ordered, staff sat around just eating, no confirmation of order. Have tried to support a local business but need the local business to actually think about the community, in the simplest of ways.

usually love this place! but tonight i had the most awful experience i’ve ever had from any restaurant/ takeaway ever. There were many items missing including : garlic bread & gravy, the chips arrived cold as did the mushy peas and curry sauce, both which were extremely watery. the worst part of it was the fact that i ordered 2 vegetarian sausages and i received 4 regular sausages, i bit into them and instantly knew something wasn’t right as i have had the vegetarian sausages from here before. i asked my boyfriend to try it and he confirmed it was meat, i haven’t eaten meat since i was 7 years old (i’m 18 now) so it is unacceptable. i’m so unhappy with this , we tried to call the restaurant as soon as we received the order however they did not answer . never ordering from here again which is a shame as i usually adore this place . i’d give a 0 star if i could

Personally I would rate them too many minus stars ordered online at 20.10 was told food would be delivered in 40 mins a hr & 20 minutes later I rang to chase up my order I must of tried ringing over 40 plus times and no one answered either it kept ringing then a message would say try again later or I was getting an engaged tone so gave up ringing. I message them through messenger to say don't bother sending the food now it was too late and if the driver had already left I would send him back with the order . Will not be using them again and would not recommend them extremely poor customer service not answering the phones glad I put down to pay cash on delivery so did not lose money.

Ordered last week food still hasnt been delivered promised refund last week and a explanation on what happened now saying go through just eat they want nothing to do with it. Dodge a bullet i think anyway didnt realise they only have 1 STAR for hygine! So keep they £35 pound perhaps your invest it in some cleaning products!

Absolutely shocking. Wouldn't know the quality of the food because mine never @#%@&£# arrived! Cannot contact the restaurant because apparently they don't know how to answer a phone. Just Eat representative couldn't get hold of them either. Useless restaurant, 0/10! Would rather #@%$ in my hands and clap than recommend this to anybody. Cant even call it the worst service I've ever received because that would imply that I actually received some. Dog@#$%!

I have used Samroys for many years ( the good old days when Roy and his family ran it). It’s had serval owners, managers over the last few year’s. I usually order and collect at the shop and have had no issues. Due to the current situation though I’d order a delivery on the website. Ordered at 17.50 expected await 50 minutes. Called at 19.05 told it’s out for delivery. Called again at 19.30 told definitely out will be with you any time. Called at 19.45 after many attempts to get through during the evening told it’s out. Guess what never turned up. A 1 star hygiene rated establishment (Jan 20) that know buys in it’s doner meat. Stoped making Roy’s recipe. My advise don’t order a delivery and think hard about using this poorly run take away, oh and no refund

Ordered through Just-Eat at 1800, called at 1945 to be told that their driver had left five minutes earlier. Spent the next 30 minutes staring at my outside camera (I was hungry) and then phoned again at 2015. I was told that they had tried to deliver but I hadn't answered my phone or answered the door. Bear in mind I had spent the last 30 minutes watching camera footage of the front of my house - on my phone. No one called and no one came to my door. I also have a Ring doorbell which detects and records all movement to the front of my house - nothing. They stated that they wouldn't send it again as it would cost them more money and they had proof they had tried to deliver. I asked for the proof to be sent to my phone and suddenly they offered to redeliver. At this point we were pretty confident that any food they would deliver wasn't going to be edible so we asked they cancel and refund. They refused. I contacted Just-Eat and because the restaurant had clicked a button stating they had delivered the food I had no recourse with them and needed the restaurant to authorise the refund. Needless to say I am out of pocket. I am seriously considering making a small claims on this as looking at reviews across the internet this appears to be a scam that they are carrying out regularly. Will definitely be reporting to trading standards
