Really looking forward to my fish and chips after reading the reviews I was disappointed the fish was dry and so much batter on it the chips were fine we waited longer than expected as deliveries were priority and I ordered mushy peas I was disappointed they were not in the bag when got home I should have checked first

Quite possibly the crunchiest batter I’ve ever had. Had a chicken burger with salad and small chips. Chicken breast was huge, nice staff , highly recommended 👌

Not a sit down meal, so tricky to assess Atmosphere. But great to watch a well managed excellent team, only matched by the standard of the fish! Top quality large skinless cod, listed as “regular” but a fish feast in itself. No point going anywhere else.

I’m extremely fussy about fish and chips, and often find them disappointing (greasy, soggy, lukewarm, overcooked…). These were truly the absolute best I’ve eaten for three years. The cod and chips were perfectly cooked, light, not greasy at all, and were piping hot (I nearly burnt my mouth with the fish- my fault!!). The guy serving me during the Tuesday lunchtime opening slot was friendly and efficient I paid £10.10 for a regular cod and small chips (a good size for one person), which I thought was very reasonable. I also like that they were wrapped in old fashioned white paper so no wastage of plastic or cardboard takeaway containers. I would definitely go back here again in a heartbeat.

I ordered large chips, jumbo sausage and gurkin. They were extremely busy with walk in orders as well as telephone/delivery orders. There was a little bit of a wait but perhaps I should have ordered ahead. However, the food was piping hot, tasty and the staff are professional and polite as always. The premises are also clean and tidy with no concerns reference Food Hygiene. I would highly recommend.

Fantastic chippy, everything was perfect . We had cod , battered sausage, bacon burger and chicken strips all with chips , couldn't ask for better . Good sized portions .

Best fish and chips in Saltdean !

This was our first visit to this particular branch of Bella Italia and it certainly wasn't great. Tables v cramped. Food seemed to take an age to arrive. Toilets definitely not the cleanest I have ever seen! On the plus side our servers were lovely, if somewhat overstretched. Hit or miss, not sure I would return.

Best grilled cod I’ve ever eaten - really, really tasty. And the portion of chips was enormous and scrumptious. Fantastic value plus service with a smile. So glad this is my local…….Thank you SFB👍😀

What's happened?! Always loved the food from here apart from last couple of times. Tonight was a huge disappointment- our three cods were tasteless & mushy. What a shame

The service was very slow, it took 20 minutes and there was only one customer before us. The fish was good, we had haddock,, but not as good as the cod we had before.

My wife and I fancied fish and chips last week. The fish was dripping with grease when we got home and unwrapped it. Chips were fine but could not make up for the Cod which was inedible. Come on guys let the fish drain for 5 minutes. Will not be back.

We have had food delivery a few times and always been satisfied but not so last night. Firstly the delivery was about 25 minutes late which could explain why the food was lukewarm. The chips were greasy and soggy and the medium cod had little fish in it on one of the pieces. The worst thing was that two large cod were missing and we had to ring and insist that we get two more and fresh chips to go with the fish and had to go and pick it up for two members of our group while the other three ate their lukewarm soggy food. Did not even get a free bottle of pop or anything as a sorry on collection. Prob will be reluctant to use them again as the cost was over fifty pounds and not very nice

Cold chips. Greasy. Thought I'd re try after a previous poor visit. Seems the quality is still poor considering what they charge. I'm not giving any more of my money to this establishment

ordered from here on friday wow what a lovely fish and chip shop, we will defiantely be getting more takeaways from here again.

Waited for 45 minutes watching the staff messing about only to find they had lost my order. So had to wait again while they cooked the food. Finally got food with no apology whatsoever. Got home to fish swimming in oil and stone cold chips. Disgusting. Won't be using again.

This is simply the best Fish&Chip I’ve ever had in the past 15 years since I came to UK. I’ve tried nearly all the legendary Fish&Chip shops in London and other nearby cities, none of them surprised me like this local one. The fish was just cooked at the perfect level that the coating covered it was crispy enough to sparkle in my mouth and the fish was so juicy and fresh to present the sweetness from its natural flavour. People who cooked the fish definitely achieved a master level. A big thumb up for the friendly team too👍

Someone said these were the best fish and chips in Brighton - a bold statement. Fish and chips shouldn't be hard to get right - and these guys get it right. What makes them stand out is that a lot of other places get it so wrong so it is worth the journey. Buy your chips, park down by the lido, take the underpass and sit on the stunning and quiet beach. Magic.

Delivery an absolute and total disaster! Delivery not received until two and a quarter hours after the order. When we phoned we were repeatedly told it was on its way and would be there 5 minutes but still they did not materialise. When they did arrive they were quite cold. After reheating them our evening meal turned into a pre-bedtime supper. Very nice and apologetic delivery boy though. Thank you for your prompt response and explanation. I agree with the other responses noting the excellence of your fish and chips and your normally helpful, considerate and prompt service on collections. As you can guess this experience re the deliveries was maddening and unexpected. I appreciate your endeavours to always provide freshly cooked meals and providing a delivery service in these unusual times. However, just one hopefully helpful comment. If you are experiencing long unanticipated delays then give the customer a ring to tell them what is happening and when they ask why there is a delay then give an accurate response. We know these are difficult times but just keep customers informed when there are problems

This is real fish and chips, the stuff the tourists are looking for. Freshest fish, lush batter and proper chips - they never disappoint. We had it delivered a few times over lockdown and couldn’t believe how quick it was - everything crisp and freshly cooked too. They are just brilliant!

We often have food delivered from here and they never disappoint. The food is freshly cooked and fantastic value. Chips are plentiful, crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle. The fish is always fresh and the burgers are terrific with lots of choices to make it your own. I would cheerfully recommend this place to anyone 👍👏👏👏

I visited the Fish Bar for the first time this week. I was impressed with the cleanliness and orderliness in the shop, as well as the clear Covid-19 guidance. I collected traditional cod and chips which were piping hot. The chips were golden brown and the fish was delicious with a lovely crisp batter. We will be returning.

The best chip shop for miles although you will have to wait as most things are freshly cooked to order. It is well worth the wait.

Well organised, good service. Covid safe. Sadly the Calamaris I ordered was not worth eating. I think it was probably bought in, but it had no taste at all. I wish I had bought cod. Chips were good, and a small portion more than enough.

Mi esposa entró en esta tienda y pidió bacalao y papas fritas grandes. Ella esperó a que se cocinara. Luego pagó y nos fuimos a casa. Una vez que ella desenvolvió la comida y en lugar de bacalao tuvimos merluza. Ella conoce a su pez como solía trabajar en un mercado de pescado. Solíamos usar esta tienda de pescado ya que el pescado y las patatas fritas eran realmente buenos. Pero ahora nunca lo haríamos. Hombre codicioso . Y nos asaltaron. Mi esposa no tuvo oportunidad de ver peces antes de envolverlos. Y una vez que llegamos a casa no podíamos molestarnos, ya tenía nuestro dinero, pero nunca más. Hombre codicioso Estafa si tiene la oportunidad.

Once a month we have the pleasure of tasting their amazing food at work they even deliver to us every time.I love the chickenburger it’s the absolute best.I would always come and order my food there again at work or outside work because for me its one of the best fishbars ever and I really mean that.:)
