Salt and Slate Social in Bromley

We had Salt and Slate cater for our wedding in June 2024. We held the reception at home with BBQ style menu for our 120 guests. Oliver was very accommodating and allowed us to adapt the menu choices to suit our day. Our guests had nothing but lovely things to say about the food. I was relaxed in the knowledge that the set up, cooking and serving of the food was all taken care of. Thank you Oliver and team! Would highly recommend the for any event.

Oliver catered for my husband’s 60th birthday dinner (30 people at home) and did a wonderful job. The team he brought with him were delightful and super efficient. We had beef which he cooked to perfection and everyone loved it. He had actually cooked for us 10 years earlier for the 50th and was equally professional. I would highly recommend Salt and Slate for any event. Thank you!

Food here is excellent. It’s a relatively Unknown cool gem in Hayes. If you are walking or driving past pop in and try it because it’s good to support businesses like this . The coffee is really very good.

Oliver and his team delivered superb catering for our summer garden birthday party with 50 guests. This was the first time we have hired caterers and we had high expectations which were met in every respect. We had chosen a selection of six different canapés followed by a barbecue of sirloin steak, chicken shawarma, garlic prawns, citrus swordfish and grilled halloumi along with a selection of summer salads. The quality and flavour was top class and all our guests commented on how delicious the food was. We had hired extra staff to help with serving drinks and this made a big contribution to the smooth running of the event, as the team were incredibly attentive and professional, replenishing drinks for all guests, serving the canapés, setting out the food, and even storing birthday presents, all done with a smile. Overall the occasion was a huge success, thanks to Oliver and his team. I highly recommend Salt & Slate for event catering.

The food here is genuinely some of the best I've ever tasted. Beef Wellingtons, meatballs, scotch eggs, pies, all just to die for. Beautiful cakes as well. A real gem of a place in the heart of Hayes Bromley. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Ollie is the real deal. Outstanding home cooked food. If you’re a ‘foodie’ you’ll love Salt and Slate. Highly recommended.

To all lovely, intelligent and nice future customers of Salt and Slate Catering, Above all, I would like to ask if any of you tried to make a juice from raisins instead of grape? No? And rightly so! You don't have to try at all. All you will figure out is being left with a poor feeling of doing something meaningless and useless 😞 I just wanted to let you know of my great dismay at the treatment of my first inquiry and me, personally as a customer. I've been waiting 7 days for someone to answer me in 1 sentence telling me: “we can't take your order or we can.”But even that wouldn't have been a problem if I hadn't called them and asked if anyone had seen my inquiry by email and messenger (sent to two places). I was rudely interrupted and accused that my attitude and asking this question was inappropriate and they would not work with me. A client who turns to them for help for the first time, with such desire and patience I wait for them to answer even one sentence and in the end - without guilt they make me guilty. Rude, disrespectful, bad behavior that should not be tolerated. 😔

Popped in for a coffee and snack after walking the dog. Welcoming staff and excellent coffee. Scott eggs are worth a go, will be back when in the area to try more. Very pleasant sitting outside watching the world go by.

We have used Salt & Slate on several occasions in the past and hope to use them again in the future. We recently held a sit down dinner dance for just under 70 people in a garden marquee and asked Ollie and his lovely team to provide the catering, cutlery and crockery for the event. All our guests commented on the high quality of food that was produced and the friendliness of his staff. At midnight, Ollie produced wonderful home-made sausage rolls which went down a treat! His catering certainly contributed to a very memorable and successful event. Nothing was too much trouble for him or his team.

Love this local gem! Food is always excellent quality, very generous portions & freshly made. Having been to the shop several times, I had no hesitation in asking about catering for an informal do with mates, Ollie was super helpful in providing a whole host of menu options & some much needed guidance! He made it so easy & far less stressful than previous events. I would (& have) recommend Salt & Slate for both casual tea/cake and also catering..

Just popped in for a brunch with family from out of town. The attitude of the owner was beyond belief. Rude, arrogant and unprofessional. We walked out and had the door closed in our faces just because we asked what was available as the food on the menu had all sold out!! Avoid and spend your well earned money in the caf down the road that offers lovely food and friendly service as a reasonable price.

Lovely, sitting in the sun, relaxing snd drinking excellent coffee, served by a friendly young person. The menu here is very interesting and it was a little too early for us to lunch, but we shall undoubtedly return to sample the food. (One tiny tip for the restaurant ....... it’s bagel, not “bagle”)

Visited here for the first time today and enjoyed a very nice experience outside in the lovely Summer sunshine. Opted for the homemade Greek spanakopita with a side of broccoli, onion, ginger and soy saucepan a black Americano. Food and drink arrived in good time, warmed up as requested and very tasty. Service was polite, prompt and clarification given as to the dishes available to a vegetarian. Prices are reasonable given the food is all prepared fresh, homemade and served in good quantities. Will certainly be returning again when next passing by.

This is a great place to eat. Staff are really friendly and obviously care about what they do. Lots of different options, not the standard all day breakfasts and BLT sandwiches. Nice fresh ingredients and portions tend to be quite filling. I have been known to buy their tarts and pretend I made them myself! Great addition to Hayes’ culinary landscape.

Brilliant addition to our high street. Ollie is a great character and happy to explain ingredients and adhere to your requirements. All he expects is that you adhere to his request to wear a mask. Fabulous food. Will always use.

Food was awful , portions wouldn’t feed a child , would never ever recommend salt and slate . There shop is awful as well

Just the best coffee and if you like chocolate on a cappuccino, it's freshly grated, not cocoa power from a tin. The pecan and carrot cake portions are enough for two, and the sausage rolls are dynamite. The main course menu varies which means you get to try different flavours, all freshly prepared by the hard-working team. There are even treats for dog walkers' pets. Very friendly service. If you're looking for a high-street chain this is not the place to go - it's unique and full of character.

I love having this place local...the food is always tasty, top quality and the passion from the owner has is clear and comes through in the food. They have also made valiant efforts to support the community during the initial lockdown which is welcomed. Everything I have tried has been lovely and there is usually some veggie options which is great. It's lovely to sit outside when the weather is nice and I hope this area can continue after the pandemic. Two small points which is my reason for giving 4 stars - it would be better if they had the cakes & sweet treats covered with something like glass domes, unfortunately I've had dry treats a couple of times (cake, brownie) and it has put me off, especially given the prices. Secondly, I'd love it if they did a lunchtime deal for savoury & a sweet treat or something like that. I'd use it a lot more to grab a quality lunch on a weekday! It can certainly be done in a way which doesn't undermine their fantastic quality. Best of luck to them as this place is a real gem!

I bought these for our evening meal and they were amazing. The beef cut like butter and extremely tasty. I would 100% recommend.

Been coming here regularly for a quick lunch when working from home. Great little place with food that never disappoints. Excellent coffee. Like the seating area downstairs and the outdoor seating when the weather is nice.

First visit to Salt and Slate Social & we thoroughly enjoyed it. Friendly service, outdoor lunch in the sun & fantastic food. What’s not to like.... Will be going back that’s for sure.
