A bit disappointing no high chair in the restaurant we had to go home to get a portable one for my granddaughter to eat her lunch. We all had roast lamb of which was nice except the roast potatoes were hard and way to much gravy put all over, I wish they had given us a gravy boat so we could put it on our own. Then we had dessert and I found a piece of the washing up nylon brush in my cheesecake so then I was put off eating it,i told the waitress she did apologise but still charged me plus charged us for a dessert we never had. Not till we got home and checked bill we were over charged quiet a lot. We will not be returning sad to say.

What can I say about Frog Pool. Having worked in Bromley and Chislehurst for past 12 years I would pass Frog Pool daily and never thought of trying it out. What a big mistake on my behalf. We went on a Saturday afternoon for a family meal. Atmosphere was freindly and relaxed as was the greeting as we entered. So much to choose from the menu for mains so I decided to have lamb shank and others in the party went for steak and mushroom pudding . With all the sides of vegetables it was the perfect size meal and the tastes were fantastic, every plate was cleared. Now came the dessert. As with the mains so many to choose from and again every plate was cleared. To end a lovely coffee and our party was happy and relaxed and all eyeing up the table next door where a 3 generation family gathering was eating their way through a fabulous looking afternoon tea and tiered cake stands and sandwiches. All in all a fabulous afternoon and will definitely be going again and if like me a place you see and drive past, give it a try you won't be disappointed we definitely weren't! Bon appetite!!

(August 2024 12:15pm) The restaurant building is an old converted farm building, so it is aged but not run down. The table settings are simple, not fancy, but clean. Service was pleasant and effective. The food is delicious, generous portions, full of flavour, good old traditional home-cooked British food. We had 2 starters, pate & toast and a salmon fishcakes. Our 2 main courses were (an enormous) duck breast and a steak & mushroom suet pudding with accompanying veg & roasties. Along with 2 soft drinks and a cup of tea it all came in at around £57 (inc. 10% service charge). We would happily go there again. They *do* accept card payments. The sign out the front says they're open 7 days a week from 09:30 to around about 4pm.

A jewel we found today🩵 I absolutely adored the place which was situated opposite a stables. It’s a dated farm building with antiques around for interiors, open kitchen and the food was fantastic. We had Salmon and Lamb Shank! Recommend all to try! Compliment to the chef 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The waitress was lovely, attentive. Get well soon though! As she was a little limping. I understand the menu is changeable, but having a guidance price would be better. We didn’t mind, but saw some posts which rated this restaurant down had this reason on. We were there on a Saturday afternoon around 14:30 and not seats were full. Food was brought fast and in standard. An abundant of healthy, vegetarian sides with each meal. We had two adult and one 3yo, two dishes filled us very well. 🅿️ Parking available just outside the restaurant. It was v easy for us to find.

I had heard very good things about this place and had tried to get a table there at Christmas but couldn't as it was booked right up. When we arrived, we were given a drinks menu. We were surprised to see the was no alcoholic drinks on it. When I asked the waitress, she said they don't have a drinks licence & people usually bring their own. I really wish they had told me this when I made the booking over the phone! The choice of dishes on the menu was really extensive. Great choice. I ordered roast turkey. Unfortunately the food was not as good as I'd anticipated after reading the reviews. Vegetables were nicely cooked, but the roast potatoes were horrible. And one of the vegetable side dishes was really weird. It was as if a pile of sliced baby potatoes had been warmed in a jar of mayonnaise. Tried it but didn't eat it. Very odd indeed. The turkey was a very generous portion, but sadly had zero flavour. Again the choice of desserts was plentiful. I ordered Bailey's Chocolate Cheesecake. It was ok. I couldn't taste any Bailey's though. But then again they didn't have a drinks licence so that figures!! I wouldn't go there again in afraid to say. The staff however were lovely. The music was tailored for the elderly. My partner commented he was waiting for a couple of spitfires to fly over at any moment! Oh well, we've been wanting to try it there for ages, & now we have, we can cross it off the list.

My first time visiting here, recommended by others. Good old fashioned home cooking with no fuss. A warm welcome from the staff and they were very attentive despite it being a busy Sunday dinner service. They were happy to accommodate requests and even threw in a couple of extras (a plate of crackling and some pudding samples!) really nice food, felt a bit like visiting family at times rather than out at a restaurant but the visit was greatly enjoyed by all. A little pricey perhaps overall but as the customer service and food was excellent, I didn’t mind this at all. Will definitely be back for a return visit.

We booked a Christmas lunch for 3 adults and had a baby with us, the restaurant is beautiful and cosy without being cramped. They have decorated it so elegantly and the added bonus of festive Christmas decks. The waitress was so friendly and was interacting with the baby often keeping him happy. We opted for 2 course lunch for under £30, the portion size was really good value - quality was out of this world. I'm glad we only picked 2 courses as I was stuffed! The chef was lovely and assisted with heating the baby food. This is the second time booking here and would definitely book again.

What a disappointment. 5 of us arranged to go for Sunday lunch for a birthday celebration. We ordered 5 courses with 2 guest having starters to be served with the main course. After 5 mins the waitress returned saying 3 of the courses were off the menu. I asked for Duck to be cooked pink and was told it was already cooked when I asked her to ask the chef to cook it pink. She came back and said that was off the menu too. The 2 starter courses arrived 10 minutes before the 3 other courses and these guests finished before we had ours. We specifically asked for them to be served together. The food is nothing to write home about and at £17.95 Sunday lunch is expensive when it is basic. There are too many choices on the menu for lunch and is more of a 'diner/tea room' than a restaurant. BYO is a good point. Sorry, but will be giving this one a miss in the future.

Easy to book and shown to a lovely table. Wide choice of options , all still available at second lunch sitting. Food was excellent - beef the nicest I’ve had for a very long time. Bill was absolutely very reasonable given quality of food and portion sizes. Loved that it was BYO. HOWEVER, although I am a dog lover it did not feel at all appropriate that there was a dog who barked very loudly lying on a settee in the restaurant that had an incontinence pad changed twice whilst we were there. Whilst I feel for the dog itself this is not what I want to see or experience whilst I am eating. Therefore I will not be returning because it does not seem at all acceptable and hence the low score even after all the aforementioned positives. Reading other reviews I see this was not a one off event either.

We went to sample the afternoon tea with a view to holding a family 90th birthday party, having eaten there previously and enjoying our food. Afternoon tea was a different story! Sandwiches were cheese n chutney, egg mayo, tasteless white meat which I think was Turkey it was very dry. Pate, ham all pretty basically presented triangles of not very nice bread, although brown and white it appeared to be thin sliced cheap bread. Cakes top tear chocolate looked shop bought as did the Portuguese custard tarts (same as I get in Aldi) but with a blob of cream and a strawberry on top. A caramelI square which was tasty. Cream horn was okay as was the raspberry danish. I feel there was far too much pastry. The scones were lovely and fresh although the jam appeared to be cheap not a conserve, and there was no clotted cream, just whipped cream. Eaton mess trifle was nice although a little on the large side for an afternoon tea. The tea came in a large pot with regular refills. If we had paid £10, it may have been acceptable for the quality, there is no disputing there was a good amount of food, we took loads away to bin, but it was just not enjoyable or special, I always think afternoon tea is for special occasions and should reflect this in presentation, taste and quality unfortunately this fell short and with a price tag of £110 for 4, we felt it does not represent good value and we’re very disappointed, needless to say we will be looking elsewhere for our party venue, we have had some really lovely afternoon teas, this was about the worst. I’m sorry to say this because the people who run it are lovely, I hope if they read this they may rethink their content.

The waiting staff were friendly and nothing too much trouble even a cushion for my aching back! BYO in my opinion is a great idea. We will be back? - most definitely. Located in a barn just outside Chislehurst. Whilst not a premium destination it is somewhere you can be sure to not go home hungry from! Handwritten menu with, dare I say, too much choice? Even for a Sunday lunch there was over 10 options for starter and mains. Service is timely and with a smile. Some of the staff seemed to be dressed like a wench, not sure why, but my Dad was amused by it. We ate lateish, 2.30 and they had run out of a few dishes by then (lamb mostly). It’s a big tight on space to be honest and with the door open it was a little chilly, even in mid Sept. Only 1 toilet worked (the mens) so that also caused a bit of a queue. The fact it is reasonably priced, and BYO gives it the edge over a number of venues in the area. The food is tasty but old style, and beans mixed with peas is never a fave.

Popped in for a meal on Saturday. We used to go here alot but had not been since before COVID.We were delighted to see that it is under the same management. The food was lovely as it always was.Staff friendly and welcoming. We will be going back more often now.
