Salentino's in Dover

Booked this restaurant for a family dinner for a birthday for 7 people. Booked online and got an email confirmation of the booking. When I walked past earlier on the day of the booking to check out the restaurant as I am not from that area it turned out that the restaurant is closed down. Luckily I found out before we turned up at the restaurant in the evening!

My husband, my parents and I came here for lunch on bank holiday Monday. I was dubious as I had heard mixed reviews, but I can honestly say we all enjoyed our meal very much. I had the Calabrese Pizza. it was delicious, much better than the Zizzi version. It tasted so fresh and had just the right amount of spice. The service was great, we got a lovely table in the window looking out towards the pier. We will be back. I am so glad I didn’t let the opinion of others put me off.

Came in yesterday around 3pm was met with lovley service and Lovley food. Had an outstanding meal Yesterday will 100% Come back. X

We order takeaway alot and and absolutely love it here at dining in and take out. Not the fastest at getting food out but worth the wait.

Best pasta dish I have ever had! Waiter was absolutely charming and helpful and efficient. He was so helpful with our dietary requirements. Will definitely take my family again. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Fabulous food, and service. Great flavour, hot, fresh food with generous portion sizes. Service could not be faulted, even though restaurant was almost full with just one staff member, he was fantastic very attentive and made sure each table had everything they needed.

Reading some of the poor reviews, we were not put off, and glad we went in. There were four of us 2pm on a Sunday, the place was empty never the less we were not put off. We ordered two pizza's a spaghetti carbonara and a burger. All were first class my burger was one of the best I have had in a long will.

Just to say it's a shame that this restaurant has gone so down hill. The food was great as always, but dirty crumpled paper menus. A restaurant with no character still displaying the covid track and trace. Most of the light bulbs don't work plates chipped and staff that couldn't even look after us when we were the only tavel of 4 in! Don't bother tyring to use them on Just Eat as they always reject your order they need to give life back to the restaurant give it some character. Find it sad its soulless to look at and if walking by you would not chose to go there when so many good restaurants on the front!

First of all, they did not have many of the drinks available on the menu. The menus themselves being slightly screwed up pieces of paper with bits of old food stuck to them! We ordered 2 Rosemary and garlic focaccia breads, what I got were 2 pizza breads that neither looked nor tasted like focaccia bread. They were both dry, with tiny amounts of garlic and rosemary and worst of all, mine was half burnt!!! Sent it back and finally after asking when our mains came out, got a better one (still not focaccia bread though). The rest of the food was not good and there was no olive oil or salt/pepper on the tables so you had to ask for them. The balsamic that came with the salad was so thick, it could not even pour. We won't be going back.

First of all, we will recognise and appreciate the kind bar and waiting staff as they were very cooperative. My partner and I decided to eat here as we knew it was a local Italian restaurant and we don’t get very many chances to go out for a meal together. We ordered starters, the sharer platter of cold meats and bruschetta. My partner had a birra moretti which tasted bitter and not how a moretti should taste. Instead the bar staff gave him bottled peroni instead. We ordered duck* as a main which turned out they didn’t have. So, instead I had mushroom risotto and he had the lamb. The lamb which he asked for to be medium rare came out very over cooked. After sending that back we were informed that was their last lamb so my partner had to once again change his main. He asked for a simple carbonara. His carbonara arrived very quickly. It was presented well but tasted of a Mac and cheese sauce and the pasta was not fresh. A poor attempt of a carbonara. Then, our pizza came out, we asked for the meatball one WITHOUT artichokes, we were served the wrong pizza… then asked for the right one which eventually came. It was not how we asked, it came with artichokes. By this point we’re we’re very upset and quite frankly very annoyed that our meal out was this unsatisfactory. The chef was staring at us through the kitchen window, we felt on edge as we left. We will not be eating here again, such a shame because italien food isn’t hard to cook or get wrong. The best thing that came out was the cold meat platter.

We went on Saturday 12th November for a family birthday. The staff were very friendly and very professional. We had young children with us and the staff went out of there way to o communicate us . Spot on. Everything was bang on from the perfectly cooked pasta and sea food to the great wine and cocktails to accompany our meal , good portion sizes you won’t leave hungry trust me. And also great value for mo we will definitely be returning
