Very disappointed visit this time. We been staying at Premier Inn and using The Plough a few times in the past. The food wasn't teasty, hash brown was undercooked, the dishes not very clean. Next time we will go to Dover for breakfast.

Not a good experience. The food took a little longer as 2 of our party had steak, which was expected. The 2 roast dinners were cold and the lamb meat was tough, which for me was a problem. Our allocated member of staff was extremely busy and did come and apologise several times during our wait. Not somewhere we will visit again anytime in the near future.

Nice restaurant, out in the countryside. Nice welcome at reception, was seen by Emma. She was friendly and helpful. Service was quick. And no big wait for food and drinks. Food was nice. Just one problem meal come with wrong type of chips. Frozen not skin on chips. But was happy to have them. Good choice of food available. The Toilet (man’s). Ok, could do with a small makeover (bit of paint, etc) main restaurant and bar was good. And service good. Also outside seating, available. (Tables could do with a bit of repainting, and ashtrays being emptied out). Overall. Good restaurant and helpful friendly staff.

We were there on Saturday at 5.30 p.m., unfortunately there was no beef pie, no fish and chips and no more spring onions. It was busy, our waitress was traveling a lot, so I couldn't really take advantage of my drink refill deal or had to wait longer. I got different chips than what I ordered and once a different drink than what I ordered. Personally, I would choose a different restaurant next time. However, the food was okay, the only annoying thing was that the menus we actually wanted weren't available.

Use this beefeater quite alot I'd given it a good review before but I am having to edit it due to our experience today, the wait was around 50 minutes and the roast dinners was not good asked how we wanted the beef we said pink came out over cooked and chewy, I said we asked for the beef to be pink they said it comes as is so have no idea why they asked how we wanted it, The chicken was slimey the potatoes wasnt very nice, fish was over cooked had to send fillet steak back as it was also over cooked by the time it came back out everyone else had finished eating ( left nearly everything on the plate) so not much eating really overall really dissapointed.

I visit Dover regularly on business staying at the Premier Inn next door and this place is like Fawlty Towers at times, it really lets the hotel down. For nearly two months at breakfast they have been unable to poach or boil an egg because of some technical issue with the hob. The mind boggles. The coffee machine is the latest casualty, so you have to make do with tea. It seems constantly understaffed, when it’s busy things get missed from orders or you end up with extra items you didn’t ask for. Maybe it’s the cook not reading the tickets right as the waiting staff just tick boxes on a pro forma, who knows. I’ve even had it where the cook has forgotten to do my order so have sat there waiting for 20 mins to be told I’ll have to wait a bit longer as it’s been missed! I wouldn’t recommend eating there in the evening either, it’s just very poorly managed, understaffed and the food is mediocre. The service is so slow, you can wait 30 mins for your drinks order to come some nights. It’s not the waiting staff’s fault, they just need to have more staff or manage it more efficiently. They regularly run out of some menu items, my top three incidents would be no chillies for the crispy chilli squid, no sweetcorn, and no sausages! As the manager would you not just drive to Tesco and buy a few bags of chillies, some sweetcorn and sausages to see you through the shift? Honestly, save the money on the hotel meal deal and head in to Dover, there are some nice local places to grab a bite to eat and have a drink; Cullins Yard, Aspendos, The White Horse, The Nelson just to name a few…

This place used to be great with good food and good service. Unfortunately it has gown down hill in the past few months. Same as everywhere due to the rise of the cost of living the prices went up and as such the amount of customers went down. To counter balance that they regulary put some attractive offers on (eg. 33% off your mains, 2 meals and drink for under £20, etc...). However they do not let you use them offers. Recently 3 times we booked a table because we had a good offer; but those same 3 times we had been turned off at the door over a different set of excuses (problem in kitchen, lack of staff, etc...). As such 3 times we had to spent money on fuel to get there, then more on fuel to get somewhere else, then more on food and drinks that we were expecting to be for a lower quality meal. We used to be fairly regular but we most likely won't return anymore to avoid being disappointed again.

Unfortunately I put 1 star because I went there with a booked table and we got there and there was no one around at all and they said they had an “issue” with food so they couldn’t make any. We went to sit at our table that was booked but they said we couldn’t. This is poo because I saw food being handed out to a table while we stood there. We also encountered a wild animal within the restaurant, with 3 long teeth. He had a gambling problem. As a person who is afraid of pubs, that was scary. Won’t be returning to this establishment.

Booked a table for 7 people online and received restaurant confirmation. Arrived to be told that they would not be able to serve us food as the kitchen had closed due to ‘technical difficulties’. We bought drinks at the bar but were not allowed to sit together at the table we’d booked as they were ‘preparing for breakfast’ at 8:30pm. We sat at 2 sticky, dirty tables sharing 6 chairs between the 7 of us as none others available. One chair was split with foam sticking out. We were all actually relieved that we couldn’t eat there as the place was dirty and staff unwelcoming. A close shave! Can’t believe beefeater put their name to this place.

Staff very competent and friendly. Our table lady Emma looked after us very well and responded to our wishes. Everything is very professional and yet welcoming. The food is really good and big portions. If you also want starter and pudding, you can also share the ribs, for example, the portion is enough 😀 the only thing I would complain about is the price. But this is my peronal opinion. You will be asked about food allergies right from the start. There are enough parking spaces and the restaurant is easy to reach.

So, it is really difficult to provide a true rating for this place, however thought our experience worth sharing to try to prevent reoccurrence to others.. In essence; whilst in Dover about to get the bus to Dymchurch we Googled to see whether there was a Beefeater to go for lunch/early dinner. We were super pleased to find this on the Bus route with a stop literally opposite. We checked the website for opening details etc.. all good to go. Having got off the bus and finally crossed the busy fast B road we walked to the door to find a notice... which explained it was closed. Now we totally understand that unforeseeable matters occur, however it might have been nice for something to have been updated online, given the problem had apparently occurred earlier. We found ourselves stuck alongside a busy road with no toilet. We had to pop into the Premier Inn to ask to use their facilities, they pointed us in the direction of the Beefeater as they didn't have a public toilet.. they were unaware it was closed. (They allowed us to use a room, thankfully) So, in short if you are getting off the bus here for Beefeater.. we would recommend calling to check it is open beforehand. We felt very unsafe crossing the fast road and waiting beside it.

Beefeater - it is what it is. Service to an age and the wait long. That said, the staff were excellent, polite, friendly, professional - absolutely no complaints there. The wait time is likely due to staff numbers. Prawn Cocktail was very nice. Breaded Mushrooms though were awful. Certainly frozen, tasteless and watery inside. The presentation of the mushrooms were awful. Roast Beef dinner was good, run out of horseradish which is just daft! Overflow of peas likely to try and supplement just one tiny stem of broccoli. Mixed grill was OK, cooked to the temperature asked. Chicken was lukewarm. Chicken and ribs was very nice, but again, the chicken was lukewarm. As I opened with, it is what it is.

She was rushed off her feet yet still took time to welcome everyone and try and get round everyone as fast as she could (there were other staff all working hard too but Emma defstood out as trying her best to keep it all ticking over) . Seriously, Beefeater you need more staff this just isn't fair on the hardworking employees that are doing their best to get round everyone. We come here when we've got all our children as usually is good value and the kids like it and its usuallytheir choice to come here. It took nearly an hour and a half to get our mains. Been here a few times now. The cafe is normally busy and there is seating outside on a nice day. Order at the counter and the food/drinks are served to your table. A variety of sandwiches and cakes available. Clean and tidy premises and staff are always welcoming and a quick turn around on serving your food/drinks.

Horrible food. Tinned vegetables and poor quality meat. Hard overcooked roast potatoes. Horrible desert. Best eat at home or definitely somewhere else. Lots of flies everywhere on the ceiling also.

Saffron Deal - delicious, authentic Indian cuisine. Every mouthful was fabulous! Chicken Monsuri is my husbands favourite dish and is a must. The biryani was light and fluffy with loads of chicken tikka and the lamb rogan josh was tender and plentiful. Not forgetting the huge onion bhajis - Thank you to Naz and the team for awesome food!

Delicious coffee and vegan sausage roll and such a lovely and friendly manager, Mercy, who is obviously very passionate about what she does. Highly recommended!
