I visit Dover regularly on business staying at the Premier Inn next door and this place is like Fawlty Towers at times, it really lets the hotel down. For nearly two months at breakfast they have been unable to poach or boil an egg because of some technical issue with the hob. The mind boggles. The coffee machine is the latest casualty, so you have to make do with tea. It seems constantly understaffed, when it’s busy things get missed from orders or you end up with extra items you didn’t ask for. Maybe it’s the cook not reading the tickets right as the waiting staff just tick boxes on a pro forma, who knows. I’ve even had it where the cook has forgotten to do my order so have sat there waiting for 20 mins to be told I’ll have to wait a bit longer as it’s been missed! I wouldn’t recommend eating there in the evening either, it’s just very poorly managed, understaffed and the food is mediocre. The service is so slow, you can wait 30 mins for your drinks order to come some nights. It’s not the waiting staff’s fault, they just need to have more staff or manage it more efficiently. They regularly run out of some menu items, my top three incidents would be no chillies for the crispy chilli squid, no sweetcorn, and no sausages! As the manager would you not just drive to Tesco and buy a few bags of chillies, some sweetcorn and sausages to see you through the shift? Honestly, save the money on the hotel meal deal and head in to Dover, there are some nice local places to grab a bite to eat and have a drink; Cullins Yard, Aspendos, The White Horse, The Nelson just to name a few…

Visited this evening after booking a table. We were given a warm and friendly welcome and promptly shown to our table. Emma our waitress could not have been nicer. She was very efficient indeed. There was a small delay with our starter for which Emma apologised. Not a problem. Food was nicely presented and tasty and enjoyable particularly the main course.

This place used to be great with good food and good service. Unfortunately it has gown down hill in the past few months. Same as everywhere due to the rise of the cost of living the prices went up and as such the amount of customers went down. To counter balance that they regulary put some attractive offers on (eg. 33% off your mains, 2 meals and drink for under £20, etc...). However they do not let you use them offers. Recently 3 times we booked a table because we had a good offer; but those same 3 times we had been turned off at the door over a different set of excuses (problem in kitchen, lack of staff, etc...). As such 3 times we had to spent money on fuel to get there, then more on fuel to get somewhere else, then more on food and drinks that we were expecting to be for a lower quality meal. We used to be fairly regular but we most likely won't return anymore to avoid being disappointed again.

Booked a table for 7 people online and received restaurant confirmation. Arrived to be told that they would not be able to serve us food as the kitchen had closed due to ‘technical difficulties’. We bought drinks at the bar but were not allowed to sit together at the table we’d booked as they were ‘preparing for breakfast’ at 8:30pm. We sat at 2 sticky, dirty tables sharing 6 chairs between the 7 of us as none others available. One chair was split with foam sticking out. We were all actually relieved that we couldn’t eat there as the place was dirty and staff unwelcoming. A close shave! Can’t believe beefeater put their name to this place.

Unfortunately I put 1 star because I went there with a booked table and we got there and there was no one around at all and they said they had an “issue” with food so they couldn’t make any. We went to sit at our table that was booked but they said we couldn’t. This is poo because I saw food being handed out to a table while we stood there. We also encountered a wild animal within the restaurant, with 3 long teeth. He had a gambling problem. As a person who is afraid of pubs, that was scary. Won’t be returning to this establishment.

The food is really good and big portions. If you also want starter and pudding, you can also share the ribs, for example, the portion is enough 😀 the only thing I would complain about is the price. But this is my peronal opinion. You will be asked about food allergies right from the start. There are enough parking spaces and the restaurant is easy to reach.

So, it is really difficult to provide a true rating for this place, however thought our experience worth sharing to try to prevent reoccurrence to others.. In essence; whilst in Dover about to get the bus to Dymchurch we Googled to see whether there was a Beefeater to go for lunch/early dinner. We were super pleased to find this on the Bus route with a stop literally opposite. We checked the website for opening details etc.. all good to go. Having got off the bus and finally crossed the busy fast B road we walked to the door to find a notice... which explained it was closed. Now we totally understand that unforeseeable matters occur, however it might have been nice for something to have been updated online, given the problem had apparently occurred earlier. We found ourselves stuck alongside a busy road with no toilet. We had to pop into the Premier Inn to ask to use their facilities, they pointed us in the direction of the Beefeater as they didn't have a public toilet.. they were unaware it was closed. (They allowed us to use a room, thankfully) So, in short if you are getting off the bus here for Beefeater.. we would recommend calling to check it is open beforehand. We felt very unsafe crossing the fast road and waiting beside it.

Beefeater - it is what it is. Service to an age and the wait long. That said, the staff were excellent, polite, friendly, professional - absolutely no complaints there. The wait time is likely due to staff numbers. Prawn Cocktail was very nice. Breaded Mushrooms though were awful. Certainly frozen, tasteless and watery inside. The presentation of the mushrooms were awful. Roast Beef dinner was good, run out of horseradish which is just daft! Overflow of peas likely to try and supplement just one tiny stem of broccoli. Mixed grill was OK, cooked to the temperature asked. Chicken was lukewarm. Chicken and ribs was very nice, but again, the chicken was lukewarm. As I opened with, it is what it is.

Seriously, Beefeater you need more staff this just isn't fair on the hardworking employees that are doing their best to get round everyone. We come here when we've got all our children as usually is good value and the kids like it and its usuallytheir choice to come here. It took nearly an hour and a half to get our mains. My children and I arrived at the reception to order some food tonight 23/3, as we were staying at the Premier Inn next door. We waited for quite some time however, Mollie and Paris were lovely - they both came to assure us that someone would be with us shortly. Understandably, they were busy. Shortly after, a lady approached the reception with a frown face - I was later informed by a male staff that she was the manager. He told me her (manager) first name but said he didn't know her last name - not that I believed him but he wasn't my problem so I moved on. I won't mention her first name but she wore white blouse, black trousers, long tied hair to the back with glasses. My 5 year old playfully approached her and attempted to read her lanyard but this "manager" quickly moved back with her hands in the air, a raised tone and said "don't touch me" - like my daughter was a disease. To say I was shocked is an understatement - so shocked I was unable to outter a word. My 5 year old was not a threat to this lady and even after my daughter apologised to her, she did not respond. I gently brought my daughter towards my side and we walked towards the bar after she rudely asked us to order there. I was disgusted with the attitude of this manager and highly concerned about her behaviour towards customers especially, children. Obviously, I can't say if this is her personality or she was just in a bad mood - nevertheless, this is no way to treat people, especially, children. Sadly, I won't be coming back to this restaurant.

Waited nearly 10 minutes to be served just for a drink! No staff about I could easily of served myself, which I would if I returned.

We were seated (fairly quickly) at a sticky table, and approached soon afterwards for our drinks order. My daughter asked for an ice green tea, but was brought a hot cup of tea with the explanation that they don't serve ice tea. I and my other daughter had coke. Well, she did. I had half a glass of ice topped up with flat coke that tasted like a supermarket own brand. Orders for food were taken reasonably quickly, and we didn't need to wait too long for it to be served. But what a disappointment! The portions of chips are tiny (and cold). The burger bun for my daughter was so hard she couldn't bite into it! I’m not sure if it was a couple of days old or over-microwaved to get warm. My own burger was OK, but really nothing special and certainly not worth the price tag; the salad was a slice of tomato and the white stem of a bit of lettuce. For desert I had a cheesecake with the consistency of builder's cement, served with cadbury crunchie bits that could have been mistaken for chewing gum. Ambience wise, the seating area was nice and not too close to other diners. Our table was underneath a harsh bright light so when I leaned over to read the menu I was reading in shadow. Personally, I was cold, but my wife was warm enough. On a plus side, the waitress was friendly, but I was so annoyed by the bad quality of food I didn't leave a tip. My wife had a go at me about that, so my evening was completely ruined. Breakfast the next day - friendly, but very slow service. The menu is advertised as "all you can eat" but you need to order it first, then wait ages, then find the waitress to order again and wait again…it's not worth the hassle when you just want to eat and get back on the road with a long trip ahead. Egg and bacon tasted good though; croissants were OK too. We only went there because the neighbouring Premier Inn where we stayed doesn't do food, and after a long drive we really weren't up for driving into town to find anywhere else to eat. Captive market, and sadly we paid for it.

The food here was really nice and very enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The service was very good, could not fault. The portion size was also good, so good could not manage dessert, which was a shame as wanted. A great place to stop for something to eat.

Food took a long time to come for a party of 6 which had two children included. The burger came out and I could tell it had been under the hot lamp for a while, The patty was cool and dry whereas the bun was hard as a rock. Disappointing for a beefeater which is usually an easy meal and generally nice food.

we come here for dinner tonight, we ordered starters they were lovely. we then all ordered steak. my steak came out with fat chips when i ordered skinny, i sent it back and got some skinny ones. then my skinnie fries were cold and my peppercorn sauce was cold including my cousins. i sent it back and a knew meal was made ! it arrived and i couldn’t eat it due to the steak being awful and fatty. the lady that served us was rude however she then started being nice again. i used to come here all the time. i will not return again. there was also only 4 of us and table of 2 next to us in the whole restaurant!!! this is disgusting. i have photos but i can’t upload.
