Restaurant was empty one staff member who took our money and then said they didn't have any milk so they had to go get some, gave us a table number, waited over ten minutes then my wife spotted the coffee on the side at the till, I went over and they said they were just bringing it over, not the best tasting coffee, won't be using this again.

What a depressing cafe this is. There was no queue and I’m not surprised. Someone spilt coffee and we put a chair over it so no one would fall over. When we left still no one had bothered to clear it up. The place to put trays was full to overflowing. Cakes etc looked very unappetising.

I took my 2 grandchildren to sainsburys hedge end, we ended up getting lunch, the 2 children’s meals looked like they were fit for the bin, the peas were dried up and looked like they had been on a hot plate for hours, the half a jacket potato came with no butter, the chicken nuggets were hard and then you get a piece of fruit as a dessert, the banana had seen better days, the only good thing was the apple. We will never be going there again!!!

Called in for breakfast at 8.50 on a Saturday. Long queue and only one poor lady taking the orders and making all the drinks. Cooked breakfast took ages to arrive, by which time we had finished our hot drinks, and all items were either lukewarm or cold. Horrid really. Unfortunately after waiting so long we were then on a tight schedule so no time to complain or wait for a replacement. Cafe was scruffy, tables were not being cleared or cleaned. Couldn’t wait to leave. Won’t go back. Sainsbury’s need to up their game and refurbish the place, buy some better furniture, stick some plants around the place and find a way of serving hot food that’s actually hot.

After ordering we found a partially clean table. We had ordered 2 hot filled baguettes and a children's meal, after 40 mins I asked after my order to be told there was a child's option of a potion of veg unavailable. We opted for another and all 3 meals didn't appear for another 10mins. The meals arrived in an unappealing manner on large dirty plates with the baguettes ripped in half rather than cut as you would expect. One baguette was warm on the outside and cold inside. I let the cashier know who said it was microwaved and shouldn't be cold and that it was the last one. Rather than ask me if I'd like something else offered me a refund which I took. I would avoid unless popping in for a coffee and pre packaged baked good/ cake.

We ended up at Sainsburys 'Fresh Kitchen' and ordered 2 adult and 2 children meals. With the screen behind the served saying Kids Eat for £1 they attempted to charge full price. We questioned the price difference (£4.50) and the server states the till hasn't taken it off and then expected us to just pay up. We questioned this and she asked a more senior colleague who said its week days only. (It is a weekend). All this was said while the screen continues to state Kids wat for a £1 and it clearly stated all day after 11.30 no mention of weekdays. The server made a call for a manager. We waited 5 minutes and no manager arrived. In the end the person who was taking out the food came over corrected the till and we were charged the correct amount. There was no direct apology and we still haven't seen a manager. But wait that's not all from me. The time for food to arrive is over 1/2 an hour. Irs only a chicken burger and chips so what takes sooooo long. One last problem a few years ago they charged 99p for tea now it's £1.80 and that's just for a cup. You don't get a pot. Just a cup filled with hot water and a tea bag. How can you charge £1.80 for a cup of hot water and a tea bag???

Firstly staff friendly and helpful, however I felt I had to mention what happened at my latest visit. I ordered the soup and a roll. (Was told there were no rolls and soup was a 10 minute wait. (No rolls considering its situated in a huge supermarket I found this strange) However I was offered bread and butter for 65p extra. No problem. When it came the soup was luke warm, however it was the bread that was the issue.. it was a small square (not even a normal sized slice) of bread on a very hot plate, so it had slightly toasted up one side with a small square of butter on the side. I was so gobsmacked I didnt query it or photograph it. Surely this can’t be right? 1 small slice of bread for 65p - I could have nipped into the store and bought a whole loaf for less than that! Come on Sainsburys you can do better!

This is now the third time I visited this place. Each time the tables have been dirty and trays left on the tables as people can’t self clear because the area for self clearing is full. Staff are busy serving customers but don’t seem to see the mess. Service is slow although the food is good when you eventually get it. Disappointing given its Sainsbury’s and not long had a refit. I’ve seen cleaner transport cafes. As it’s my third time here visiting at different times of the day I think it proves it’s staff issues and not foot fall which is the problem.

I hesitated over whether to give this café an average rating or a very good one, but I am erring on the positive side because of the excellent value of the lunches on offer. We had been shopping next door at M&S and while their café is smarter, there is no greater choice and it is nearly always full with a queue to get in. We had the £5 lunches: I had a veggie quiche with new potatoes and salad - more than enough for me. My husband had salmon, which he said was excellent. We didn't need a dessert, but had cold drinks with our meal. The young lady serving was smiling, polite and friendly. The café seems to have been enlarged since our last visit and while it isn't the smartest of spaces, you cannot beat the value.

In all fairness we were told at the till that a waiting time for the meal would be 45 mins, We were ok as it took 30 mins and the sit down was a welcome break. The food was average, the Cafe was fairly clean, there was plenty of room for my Mum in her wheelchair.. We have visited here a few times now since the refurbishment and usually the coffee is good. Today wasnt so. I asked for a skinny cappucino but I dont think the milk was skinny. It wasnt really a cappucino either as the girl had left all the froth in the jug and just poured hot milk in. My daughter had a praline Flat white which I think was o.k and we shared a toasted tea cake which was very good. They dont have anybody clearing the tables here, you have to do the clearing yourself and consequently many people just leave their dirty cups on the tables.

Friendly staff here who do their best.Like many places nowadays, hot drinks are served in stupidly wide and thick cups, so the drink goes cold too quickly. Why not use sensible cups? We ask for our hot drinks to be served in takeaway cups, so they stay hot.Egg and chips, gammon and chips, fish and chips are usually very good, no complaints.Tables could be cleared and cleaned more quickly.Overall, a reasonable place for a cafe type meal. You shouldn't expect haute cuisine in a supermarket cafe.

Plenty of space and adequate food for the money. The servery is a bit strange though, slow for one thing as there is only one coffee machine then your drinks are balanced on the small area at the end of the counter. Once you load it on your tray you then have to find the cutlery and sugar etc which is behind you, trying to avoid people already there. All a bit strange and could easily be improved.Fine for a light bite or drinks but not the place to visit for a special occasion.

We arrived here not in a good mood, having intended to eat at neighbouring M&S and being let down by long queues and a meal choice being unavailable despite the lunchtime service having only just started. Why didn't we just go to Sainsbury's in the first place?! The café was very busy and some tables hadn't been wiped down and still had dirty dishes on them. But I found a clean table and my husband ordered the food - ham, egg and chips for him and a jacket potato and salad for me. He had a pot of tea which came with an offer - a mince pie for 50 pence - and I had a cold drink. The food did take a while to come, but it was tasty and piping hot. It was served by a lady called Chris who, despite being rushed off her feet, was smiling and friendly. Eaten here twice now as no other options available. First time was in May 2022 and we were offered pizzas as there was no other food. We paid £15 each and watched the 'chef' open frozen Chicago town pizzas! We could not believe our eyes. Ate here last week as well as we were unable to find anywhere outside of the airport to eat and this time all that was on offer was sausage rolls and macaroni cheese at £15 for what I would consider to be a portion suitable for a 5 year old!

Some of the worst staff ever! When I was overcharged for an item that was incorrectly priced I was told I should check the 13 digit bar code instead of the large printed price tag & then told I was rude when I questioned this. What is wrong with these people? Many others have also said how dreadful the staff at this store are. They have no respect for the customers that ultimately pay their wages.
