Sainsburys Cafe in West Berkshire

Hello all- went shopping in sainsbury -went to the cafe -very busy .I had coffe which was self service ,very nice .my 2children had Children’s breakfast.which looked nice ..just the right size and portion for the kids (6yrs )ate all of it …bacon looked over cooked and dried out …appart from the bacon everything else was good ..all eaten 👍

All I wanted was scrambled egg on toast which took 25 minutes to get to me despite no one else waiting on food. One bite and a burnt taste in my mouth. Turned toast over completely black on the bottom! Very slow to get food out.

Not sure what’s has happened to the Newbury Cafe, all you get from staff is “a new company has taken over” Understand that but don’t advertise food, cover everything up that’s not available. Surly a new company is a positive not dragging it under !!! Don’t spend your hard earned money here the “new” company does not care at all about good customer service!

food was burnt and was not really tasty for a breakfast but a spaghetti and a beef lasagne is very tasty and very well cooked and very cheesy.

After a long journey yesterday we stopped at Sainsburys in Newbury for a drink and decided to have a breakfast meal at about 1.15pm. For £6 we got 2 rashers of bacon, 2 sausages, 2 fried eggs, 2 hash browns, half a good sized tomato, a large mushroom, some baked beans and a slice of buttered toast cut into two. All the food was still hot when we got it, the eggs had runny yolks as we like them and the food was served on a well warmed plate by a very pleasant lady who had brought the food directly to our table from the kitchen. I have only knocked one star off this experience as, in my opinion, this café needs to have a member of staff whose job is cleaning tables and keeping the cutlery containers full....surely easy to do on a busy Saturday?

What happened to Sainsburys cade since new company took over it looks like a school dinner hall now instead of the comfortable furniture before no sainsburys fresh orange anymore as the canteen not sainsburys don't like it at all now won't be back will miss Karen and Alison

my hubby called in for a bacon roll and cup of tea excelent service quick and friendley service and a good price look forward to comeing again perhaps try the full english which looked realey nice after seeing another customer eating one

How can such a simple breakfast, which consisted of bacon, sausages, egg, hash browns and toast come out looking it’s been smashed up in a bloody car crash. Waited over 35 minutes for food that didn’t even look cooked. Some of which clearly microwaves. Eggs that looked worse than a 1940’s abortion clinic. Didn’t realise you had to be qualified to cook bad food but hey ho, you nailed it Sainsbury’s. well done 👏

Don't expect gourmet food at a supermarket cafe but don't understand how items cooked to order (all day breakfast) arrives cold. Coffee OK staff ok and if you need to eat well this will do

I eat here in the week and occasionaly on a Sunday. The food is always of a very high quality and served quickly. The staff are helpful and welcoming. Coffee is always for the moment!

Popped in for breakfast. Pleasant staff and happy to swap hash brown for an extra fried egg. The eggs were cooked perfect, as was the luxury scrambled egg my wife had. Good price as always.

Absolutely dreadful place. Poor service, lukewarm food, dirty and dingy. Food is truly awful, expensive and tasteless rubbish.

Went here for lunch with 2 adults & 3 young children, twins needed highchairs but they were so bulky that two wouldn't fit next to each other at table! Children all had picnic bags which were really good value- sandwich, crisps, yoghurt, fruit & drink for less than £3 each & the adult meals were tasty with a varied selection. Had to wait a while for meals to be brought over though but pleasent staff. Clean restaurant but could do with more tables seating 4+ as most were round with 4 chairs. Overall worth popping in when doing the shopping.

It was supposed to be a lunch date with my wife but took so long she had to get back to work. From time of ordering to getting the RIGHT meal was 45 mins. Not impressed.....could not be bothered to complain about it being tepid!!!....will go to a proper cafe next time!!.....

dropped into here for 1st time ever, got a sandwich and a coffee, nothing wrong with the actual food, was basic cafe food but tables were not cleared, it wasn't a particularly busy time that i visited so there really wasn't an excuse, i eventually found a table that looked clean and ate my food. i am not sure if the customer is expected to take the tray to the trolley when they have finished with all their rubbish and crockery but in the 45 mins i was sat there none of the members of staff came and collected from tables or trolley so the people who were trying to clear their own tables had nowhere to put the trays, also no one came and wiped any tables. The staff that served me were all very pleasant and friendly but it would have been nice to have seen someone clearing/wiping tables and clearing all the crockery from the trolley and to have not seen it piled up!!! Would i visit again? probably not, there are a lot more better places to have lunch in Newbury.

My wife and I had tea, coffee and cake at the Sainsbury's Cafe which was very busy; on a Tuesday. I was very impressed by the solitary server (Andy) who was doing everything by himself. Given he was on his own and managing the whole cafe with a queue and coping very well he deserves recognition. Very impressed with the quality of service, the quality of tea/coffee and the quality of cake. I recommend a visit.

I used to like this as a quick fix when in a hurry and hungry. However prices have gone up and the service has gone down. Not expecting restaurant service but do expect a breakfast to come more than room temp and missing half the items.

Yo uso el café bastante regular y nunca he tenido una mala experiencia allí.

Had lunch here and enjoyed it very much. The restaurant was busy but we were served quickly and didn't have to wait long for our food.... The food was pipping hot and had obviously been cooked fresh... Very nice... 😀

Visitamos este lugar y Pedimos patatas fritas. Esperamos media hora y llegamos a la comida, estaba fría! Nos quejamos, pero el director no venir a vernos! No éramos los únicos, había otra pareja que dijo que ha estado esperando 45 minutos! Luego les dijeron que lo sentían, que no tienen que pedir. El servicio es muy pobre. No vamos a volver!

Lovely clean café. Good value for money food. Not the biggest portions, however more than adequate for the price. Surprised they have a proper barista machine too which is great! Other supermarket cafes cannot boast this. Will come again.

Great. Eggs cooked lovely, excellent value nice environment. Will return Miles better than filthy Wetherspoons! Staff friendly and opening ours are very convenient

I come here with my teenage daughters and friends for coffee and cake. Always such a nice place to sit and chat. They have sofas as well as normal table and chairs. Love having time out here.

Me and my little girl go when we pop in for shopping, Always lovely friendly ladies. Good food and good prices

Had lunch there to save walking into town. Portion wasn't that big, but it was value for money which is all you can expect. The meal came fairly quickly and was cooked very well.

As Always cheery staff which makes the average food palatable. Coffee good. Air con too blowy and often quite noisy. But the warm welcome and care with frail customers is a joy to see. Bravo

This did'nt start well as I struggled to find a clean tray. I ordered the "Big Breakfast" and a pot of tea. The person on the till was friendly and polite. I collected my tea and was given a cup and saucer, I then struggled to find clean cutlery most of the forks had hard pieces of food baked onto them from the dishwasher and were also badly stained. I found a table and was about to pour my tea when notced that I had been given a dirty cup, this cup had definatley not seen the inside of a dishwasher, I of course exchanged it for a clean one. When the food arrived it was very disapointing, it certainly was not the "big breakfast" that I had been expecting! The toast was not toasted, the tomato was raw, the bacon was small, the fried egg was small and over cooked, the beans were watery, but the sausages were nice! This was a very disapointing experience and one which will never be repeated as I will never eat in any Sainsbury's Cafe again! Sainsbury's you are not trying hard enough!!

After being disappointed on several occasions 18 months or more ago. We decided to give this cafe another chance. Definitely not changed. The child's menu which has plenty to choose from was down to 2 options available neither of which our child particularly liked. Cutlery was filthy, had it changed for cutlery that wasn't much better. Very mediocre service. Will not be returning and wasting my money.

Considering they have access to everything the food is poor, they cant cook bacon, cheapest ingredients used, basic basics, they cant even cook toast, tiny portions, exceptionally slow service, that's what you get for paying minimum wages, you get the minimum unmotivated staff.

Popped in for a few bits of shopping and a hearty brunch before heading up to LondonWe both had the big breakfast and a coffee - not especially what I would call big but tasty all the same for a standard fry up and not overpriced at under £5 each for food.

Popped in recently on a Saturday Afternoon, basic but good choice of food, pretty good quality for the money, good service, resonable cost. nice Atmoshere. Worth a vist, sure the breakfast would be good as well.
